Isaiah 63
1 Who is this that cometh fro Edom, in died clothis fro Bosra? this fair man in his `long cloth, goynge in the multitude of his vertu? Y that speke riytfulnesse, and am a forfiytere for to saue.
Quel est celui qui vient d’Edom, qui arrive de Boçra, les vêtements teints de rouge? Qu’il est magnifique dans son costume et s’avance fièrement dans l’éclat de sa force! C’Est moi, qui parle le langage de la justice et suis puissant pour sauver.
2 Whi therfor is thi clothing reed? and thi clothis ben as of men stampynge in a pressour?
Pourquoi cette couleur rouge à ton vêtement? Pourquoi tes habits sont-ils comme ceux du vendangeur qui foule le pressoir?
3 Y aloone stampide the presse, and of folkis no man is with me; Y stampide hem in my stronge veniaunce, and Y defoulide hem in my wraththe; and her blood is spreynt on my clothis, and Y made foul alle my clothis.
C’Est que j’ai foulé une cuvée à moi tout seul, et d’entre les nations personne n’a été avec moi. Et je les ai pressurés dans ma colère, écrasés dans mon courroux: leur sève a rejailli sur mes vêtements et mes habits en sont tout souillés.
4 For whi a dai of veniaunce is in myn herte, and the yeer of my yeldyng cometh.
Car c’était un jour de revanche dans ma pensée, l’année de mes représailles était venue.
5 I lokide aboute, and noon helpere was; Y souyte, and noon was that helpide; and myn arm sauyde to me, and myn indignacioun, that helpide me.
Et j’ai regardé: personne pour m’assister! J’Observai avec surprise: personne pour me prêter main forte! Alors mon bras fut mon secours, mon indignation fut mon auxiliaire.
6 And Y defoulide puplis in my stronge veniaunce; and Y made hem drunkun in myn indignacioun, and Y drow doun her vertu in to erthe.
Et je broyai des peuples dans ma colère, je les étourdis dans ma fureur, et fis couler leur sève à terre.
7 I schal haue mynde on the merciful doyngis of the Lord, Y schal preche the heriyng of the Lord on alle thingis whiche the Lord yeldide to vs, and on the multitude `of goodis of the hous of Israel, whiche he yaf to hem bi his foryyuenesse, and bi the multitude of hise mercies.
Je veux proclamer les bienfaits du Seigneur, les louanges de l’Eternel, en raison de toutes les bontés qu’il a eues pour nous, du bien immense qu’il a fait à la maison d’Israël, qu’il lui a fait selon sa miséricorde et l’abondance de ses grâces.
8 And the Lord seide, Netheles it is my puple, sones not denyynge, and he was maad a sauyour to hem in al the tribulacioun of hem.
Il disait: "Ils sont mon peuple, après tout, des enfants qui ne sauraient trahir." Et il devint pour eux un sauveur.
9 It was not set in tribulacioun, and the aungel of his face sauyde hem. In his loue and in his foryyuenesse he ayenbouyte hem, and he bar hem, and reiside hem in alle daies of the world.
Dans toutes leurs souffrances, il a souffert avec eux; sa présence tutélaire les a protégés. Dans son amour et sa clémence, il les a délivrés; il les a portés et soutenus pendant toute la durée des siècles.
10 Forsothe thei excitiden hym to wrathfulnesse, and turmentiden the spirit of his hooli; and he was turned in to an enemye to hem, and he ouercam hem in batel.
Mais eux, ils furent rebelles, ils attristèrent son esprit saint; aussi passa-t-il contre eux à l’état d’ennemi, et en personne il leur fit la guerre.
11 And he hadde mynde on the daies of the world, of Moises, and of his puple. Where is he, that ledde hem out of the see, with the scheepherdis of his floc? Where is he, that settide the spirit of his holi in the myddil therof;
Alors son peuple se souvint des temps antiques, de Moïse: Où donc disait-il est Celui qui les fit remonter de la mer avec le pasteur de son troupeau? Où est Celui qui déposa dans son sein son esprit de sainteté?
12 whiche ledde out Moises to the riyt half in the arm of his maieste? which departide watris bifore hem, that he schulde make to hym silf a name euerlastynge;
Celui qui, pendant la marche, accompagna la droite de Moïse de son bras glorieux, fendit les eaux à leur approche, se faisant ainsi un renom pour l’éternité?
13 whiche ledde hem out thoruy depthis of watris, as an hors not stumblynge in desert,
Celui qui les conduisit à travers les flots, comme un coursier dans le désert, sans qu’ils trébuchassent?
14 as a beeste goynge doun in the feeld? The Spirit of the Lord was the ledere therof; so thou leddist thi puple, that thou madist to thee a name of glorie.
Tel qu’un troupeau qui descend dans la vallée, l’esprit de Dieu facilita leur marche vers un lieu de repos; oui, tu dirigeas ton peuple, de façon à t’assurer un nom glorieux.
15 Biholde thou fro heuene, and se fro thin hooli dwellyng place, and fro the seete of thi glorie. Where is thi feruent loue, and thi strengthe, the multitude of thin entrailis, and of thi merciful doyngis?
Du haut du Ciel regarde et vois, du séjour de ta sainteté et de ta gloire: où est ta tendresse ardente et ta puissance? L’Émotion de tes entrailles et ta compassion se refusent à moi.
16 Tho withelden hem silf on me. Forsothe thou art oure fadir, and Abraham knew not vs, and Israel knew not vs.
C’Est pourtant toi qui es notre père, car Abraham ne sait rien de nous, Israël ne nous connaît point. Toi, ô Eternel, tu es notre père, notre sauveur de tout temps: tel est ton nom.
17 Thou, Lord, art oure fadir, and oure ayenbiere; thi name is fro the world. Lord, whi hast thou maad vs to erre fro thi weies? thou hast made hard oure herte, that we dredden not thee? be thou conuertid, for thi seruauntis, the lynages of thin eritage.
Pourquoi, Seigneur, nous laisses-tu errer loin de tes voies, pourquoi laisses-tu notre cœur se fermer obstinément à ta crainte? Reviens pour l’amour de tes serviteurs, des tribus qui t’appartiennent en propre.
18 Thei hadden as nouyt thin hooli puple in possessioun, and oure enemyes defouliden thin halewyng.
Pour si peu de temps, ton peuple saint a joui de son héritage! Nos ennemis ont foulé ton sanctuaire.
19 We ben maad as in the bigynnyng, whanne thou were not Lord of vs, nethir thi name was clepid to help on vs.
On dirait que jamais tu n’as régné sur nous que jamais nous n’avons été désignés de ton nom.
