Isaiah 53
1 Who bileuyde to oure heryng? and to whom is the arm of the Lord schewide?
Qui est-ce qui a cru à notre prédication? et à qui est-ce qu'a été visible le bras de l'Eternel?
2 And he schal stie as a yerde bifore hym, and as a roote fro thirsti lond. And nether schap nether fairnesse was to hym; and we sien hym, and no biholdyng was;
Toutefois il est monté comme un rejeton devant lui, et comme une racine sortant d'une terre altérée; [il n'y a] en lui ni forme, ni apparence, quand nous le regardons, il n'y a rien en lui à le voir, qui fasse que nous le désirions.
3 and we desiriden hym, dispisid, and the laste of men, a man of sorewis, and knowynge sikenesse. And his cheer was as hid and dispisid; wherfor and we arettiden not hym.
[Il] est le méprisé et le rejeté des hommes, homme de douleurs, et sachant ce que c'est que la langueur; et nous avons comme caché notre visage arrière de lui, tant il était méprisé; et nous ne l'avons rien estimé.
4 Verili he suffride oure sikenessis, and he bar oure sorewis; and we arettiden hym as a mesel, and smytun of God, and maad low.
Mais il a porté nos langueurs, et il a chargé nos douleurs; et nous avons estimé qu'étant [ainsi] frappé, il était battu de Dieu, et affligé.
5 Forsothe he was woundid for oure wickidnessis, he was defoulid for oure greet trespassis; the lernyng of oure pees was on hym, and we ben maad hool bi his wannesse.
Or il était navré pour nos forfaits, [et] froissé pour nos iniquités, l'amende qui nous apporte la paix a été sur lui, et par sa meurtrissure nous avons la guérison.
6 Alle we erriden as scheep, ech man bowide in to his owne weie, and the Lord puttide in hym the wickidnesse of vs alle.
Nous avons tous été errants comme des brebis; nous nous sommes détournés chacun en [suivant] son propre chemin, et l'Eternel a fait venir sur lui l'iniquité de nous tous.
7 He was offrid, for he wolde, and he openyde not his mouth; as a scheep he schal be led to sleyng, and he schal be doumb as a lomb bifore hym that clippith it, and he schal not opene his mouth.
[Chacun] lui demande, et il en est affligé, toutefois il n'a point ouvert sa bouche, il a été mené à la boucherie comme un agneau, et comme une brebis muette devant celui qui la tond, et il n'a point ouvert sa bouche.
8 He is takun awey fro angwisch and fro doom; who schal telle out the generacioun of hym? For he was kit doun fro the lond of lyueris. Y smoot hym for the greet trespas of my puple.
Il a été enlevé de la force de l'angoisse et de la condamnation, mais qui racontera sa durée? car il a été retranché de la terre des vivants, et la plaie lui a été faite pour le forfait de mon peuple.
9 And he schal yyue vnfeithful men for biriyng, and riche men for his deth; for he dide not wickidnesse, nether gile was in his mouth;
Or on avait ordonné son sépulcre avec les méchants, mais il a été avec le riche en sa mort; car il n'avait point fait d'outrage, et il ne s'est point trouvé de fraude en sa bouche.
10 and the Lord wolde defoule hym in sikenesse. If he puttith his lijf for synne, he schal se seed long durynge, and the wille of the Lord schal be dressid in his hond.
Toutefois l'Eternel l'ayant voulu froisser, l'a mis en langueur. Après qu'il aura mis son âme [en oblation pour le] péché, il se verra de la postérité, il prolongera ses jours et le bon plaisir de l'Eternel prospérera en sa main.
11 For that that his soule trauelide, he schal se, and schal be fillid. Thilke my iust seruaunt schal iustifie many men in his kunnyng, and he schal bere the wickidnessis of hem.
Il jouira du travail de son âme, et en sera rassasié; mon serviteur juste en justifiera plusieurs par la connaissance qu'ils auront de lui; et lui-même portera leurs iniquités.
12 Therfor Y schal yelde, ethir dele, to hym ful many men, and he schal departe the spuilis of the stronge feendis; for that that he yaf his lijf in to deth, and was arettid with felenouse men; and he dide a wei the synne of many men, and he preiede for trespassouris.
C'est pourquoi je lui donnerai son partage parmi les grands, [et] il partagera le butin avec les puissants, parce qu'il aura épandu son âme à la mort, qu'il aura été mis au rang des transgresseurs, et que lui-même aura porté les péchés de plusieurs, et aura intercédé pour les transgresseurs.
