Isaiah 48

1 The hows of Jacob, that ben clepid bi the name of Israel, and yeden out of the watris of Juda, here these thingis, whiche sweren in the name of the Lord, and han mynde on God of Israel, not in treuthe, nether in riytfulnesse.

Höret dies, ihr vom Hause Jakob, die ihr nach Israels Namen benannt und aus Judas Leibe hervorgegangen seid, die ihr schwört beim Namen des HERRN und euch zum Gott Israels bekennt – doch nicht in Wahrhaftigkeit und nicht in Gerechtigkeit –;

2 For thei ben clepid of the hooli citee, and ben stablischid on the God of Israel, the Lord of oostis is his name.

denn nach der heiligen Stadt haben sie sich den Namen beigelegt, und auf den Gott Israels stützen sie sich, dessen Name ›HERR der Heerscharen‹ ist:

3 Fro that tyme Y telde the former thingis, and tho yeden out of my mouth; and Y made tho knowun; sudenli Y wrouyte, and tho thingis camen.

»Die früheren Weissagungen habe ich vordem verkündet, aus meinem Munde sind sie hervorgegangen, und ich habe sie kundgetan; plötzlich habe ich sie vollführt, so daß sie eingetroffen sind.

4 For Y wiste that thou art hard, and thi nol is a senewe of irun, and thi forhed is of bras.

Weil ich wußte, daß du hart bist und daß dein Nacken eine Eisenspange und deine Stirn von Erz ist,

5 Y biforseide to thee fro that tyme, bifore that tho thingis camen, Y schewide to thee, lest perauenture thou woldist seie, Myn idols diden these thingis, and my grauun ymagis and my yotun

so habe ich es vordem dir kundgetan und es dich hören lassen, bevor es eintraf, damit du nicht sagen könntest: ›Mein Gottesbild hat sie vollbracht, und mein Schnitzbild sowie mein Gußbild hat sie geboten.‹

6 ymagis senten these thingis whiche thou herdist. Se thou alle thingis, but ye telden not. Y made herd newe thyngis to thee fro that tyme, and thingis ben kept whiche thou knowist not;

Du hast es gehört: betrachte es nun alles! Und ihr – wollt ihr es nicht bezeugen? Von nun an aber lasse ich dich Neues hören, und zwar Geheimgehaltenes, wovon du nichts gewußt hast.

7 now tho ben maad of nouyt, and not fro that tyme, and bifor the dai, and thou herdist not tho thingis; lest perauenture thou seie, Lo! Y knew tho thingis.

Jetzt erst kommt es zur Ausführung und nicht schon vordem, und vor dem heutigen Tage hast du nichts davon gehört, damit du nicht sagen könntest: ›Ich habe es ja schon gewußt!‹

8 Nether thou herdist, nether thou knewist, nether thin eere was openyd fro that tyme; for Y woot, that thou trespassynge schal trespasse, and Y clepide thee a trespassour fro the wombe.

Nein, du hast es weder gehört noch gewußt, noch ist dein Ohr vordem dafür geöffnet gewesen; denn ich weiß, daß du gar treulos bist und daß man dich ›abtrünnig vom Mutterleibe an‹ genannt hat.

9 For my name Y schal make fer my strong veniaunce, and with my preysyng Y schal refreyne thee, lest thou perische.

Um meines Namens willen halte ich meinen Zorn zurück, und um meiner Ehre willen übe ich Schonung dir zugute, daß ich dich nicht ausrotte.

10 Lo! Y haue sode thee, but not as siluer; Y chees thee in the chymeney of pouert.

Wisse wohl: ich habe dich (allerdings) geläutert, aber dich nicht als Silber erfunden; ich habe dich geprüft im Glutofen des Leides.

11 Y schal do for me, that Y be not blasfemyd, and Y schal not yyue my glorie to another.

Um meinetwillen, um meinetwillen vollführe ich es – denn wie dürfte mein Name entweiht werden! –, und meine Ehre gebe ich keinem andern!«

12 Jacob and Israel, whom Y clepe, here thou me; Y my silf, Y am the firste and Y am the laste.

»Höre auf mich, Jakob, und du, Israel, den ich berufen habe! Ich bin derselbe, ich der Erste und ich auch der Letzte.

13 And myn hond foundide the erthe, and my riyt hond mat heuenes; Y schal clepe tho, and tho schulen stonde togidere.

Hat doch meine Hand die Erde gegründet und meine Rechte den Himmel ausgespannt: rufe ich ihnen zu, so stehen sie allesamt da.

14 Alle ye be gaderid togidere, and here; who of hem telde these thingis? The Lord louyde hym, he schal do his wille in Babiloyne, and his arm in Caldeis.

Versammelt euch alle und hört! Wer unter ihnen hat dieses vorausgesagt: ›Er, den der HERR liebt, wird seinen Willen an Babylon vollstrecken und seinen Arm an den Chaldäern wirken lassen‹?

15 Y, Y spak, and clepide hym; Y brouyte hym, and his weie was dressid.

Ich, ich habe es angekündigt, habe ihn auch berufen; ich habe ihn auftreten lassen, und er wird sein Unternehmen siegreich durchführen.

16 Neiye ye to me, and here ye these thingis; at the bigynnyng Y spak not in priuete; fro tyme, bifore that thingis weren maad, Y was there, and now the Lord God and his Spirit sente me.

Tretet heran zu mir, vernehmt dieses! Ich habe von Anfang an nicht im Verborgenen geredet; nein, seit der Zeit, wo es vor sich geht, bin ich dabei gewesen.« Jetzt aber hat Gott der HERR mich gesandt und seinen Geist.

17 The Lord, thin ayen biere, the hooli of Israel, seith these thingis, Y am thi Lord God, techynge thee profitable thingis, and Y gouerne thee in the weie, wher ynne thou goist.

So hat der HERR gesprochen, dein Erlöser, der Heilige Israels: »Ich, der HERR, dein Gott, bin es, der dich lehrt zu tun, was dir zum Heil dient, der dich auf dem Wege leitet, den du gehen sollst.

18 Y wolde that thou haddist perseyued my comaundementis, thi pees hadde be maad as flood, and thi riytfulnesse as the swolowis of the see;

Ach, daß du auf meine Gebote geachtet hättest! Dann wäre deine Wohlfahrt geworden wie ein Strom und deine Gerechtigkeit wie die Wellen des Meeres;

19 and thi seed hadde be as grauel, and the generacioun of thi wombe, as the litle stoonys therof; the name of it hadde not perischid, and hadde not be al to-brokun fro my face.

dann würde deine Volksmenge dem Sande gleichen und deines Leibes Sprößlinge den Sandkörnern, und ihr Name würde nicht ausgerottet und nicht vertilgt werden vor meinem Angesicht hinweg.«

20 Go ye out of Babiloyne, fle ye fro Caldeis; telle ye in the vois of ful out ioiying; make ye this herd, and bere ye it `til to the laste partis of erthe; seie ye, The Lord ayenbouyte his seruaunt Jacob.

Ziehet aus von Babylon hinweg, entflieht aus dem Chaldäerlande! Mit Jubelschall verkündet dies und laßt es laut werden! Laßt die Kunde dringen bis ans Ende der Erde! rufet aus: »Erlöst hat der HERR seinen Knecht Jakob!

21 Thei thirstiden not in desert, whanne he ladde hem out; he brouyte forth to hem watir of a stoon, and he departide the stoon, and watris flowiden.

Sie haben nicht Durst gelitten, als er sie durch Wüsten führte: Wasser aus dem Felsen ließ er ihnen rieseln und spaltete den Felsen, daß Wasser hervorsprudelte.« –

22 Pees is not to wickid men, seith the Lord.

»Keinen Frieden« – sagt der HERR – »gibt es für die Gottlosen!«
