Hosea 13
1 For Effraym spak, hidousnesse assailide Israel; and he trespasside in Baal, and was deed.
Ephraïm parlant, un frisson a saisi Israël, et il a péché en adorant Baal, et il est mort.
2 And now thei addiden to do synne, and maden to hem a yotun ymage of her siluer, as the licnesse of idols; al is the makyng of crafti men. To these thei seien, A! ye men, offre, and worschipe caluys.
Et maintenant ils ont encore péché; et ils se sont fait avec leur argent une statue jetée en fonte semblable aux idoles, tout cela est un ouvrage d’artisans; à ceux-ci eux-mêmes disent: Immolez des hommes, vous qui adorez des veaux.
3 Therfor thei schulen be as a morewtid cloude, and as the deew of morewtid, that passith forth, as dust rauyschide bi whirlewynd fro the corn floor, and as smoke of a chymenei.
C’est pour cela qu’ils seront comme un nuage du matin, et comme la rosée du matin qui se dissipe, comme la poussière emportée de l’aire par un tourbillon, et comme la fumée qui s’échappe d’une cheminée.
4 Forsothe Y am thi Lord God, `that ledde thee fro the loond of Egipt; and thou schalt not knowe God, outakun me, and no sauyour is, outakun me.
Mais moi, je suis le Seigneur ton Dieu, depuis que je t’ai retiré de la terre d’Egypte; tu ne connaîtras pas de Dieu hors moi, et il n’est de sauveur que moi.
5 Y knewe thee in the desert, in the lond of wildirnesse.
Et je t’ai connu dans le désert, dans une terre de solitude.
6 Bi her lesewis thei weren fillid, and hadden abundaunce; thei reisiden her herte, and foryaten me.
À proportion de leurs pâturages ils se sont remplis et rassasiés; et ils ont enflé leur cœur, et ils m’ont oublié.
7 And Y schal be as a lionesse to hem, as a parde in the weye of Assiriens.
Et moi, je serai pour eux comme une lionne, comme un léopard sur la voie des Assyriens.
8 Y as a femal bere, whanne the whelps ben rauyschid, schal mete hem; and schal al to-breke the ynnere thingis of the mawe of hem. And Y as a lioun schal waaste hem there; a beeste of the feeld schal al to-rende hem.
Je courrai à eux comme une ourse, quand on lui a ravi ses petits, je déchirerai leurs entrailles; et là je les dévorerai comme un lion; la bête des champs les mettra en pièces.
9 Israel, thi perdicioun is of thee; thin help is oneli of me.
Ta perte vient de toi, Israël; c’est seulement en moi qu’est ton secours.
10 Where is thi kyng? moost saue he thee now in alle thi citees; and where ben thi iugis, of whiche thou seidist, Yyue thou to me a kyng, and princes?
Où est ton roi? que surtout maintenant il te sauve dans toutes tes villes; et qu’ils te sauvent, tes juges dont tu as dit: Donnez-moi un roi et des princes.
11 Y schal yyue to thee a kyng in my strong veniaunce, and Y schal take awei in myn indignacioun.
Je te donnerai un roi dans ma fureur, et j’ôterai dans mon indignation.
12 The wickidnesse of Effraym is boundun togidere; his synne is hid.
L’iniquité d’Ephraïm est liée, et son péché caché.
13 The sorewis of a womman trauelynge of child schulen come to hym; he is a sone not wijs. For now he schal not stonde in the defoulyng of sones.
Les douleurs d’une femme qui enfante viendront sur lui: c’est un fils qui n’est point sage; car maintenant il ne subsistera pas dans le carnage de ses fils.
14 Y schal delyuere hem fro the hoond of deeth, and Y schal ayenbie hem fro deth. Thou deth, Y schal be thi deth; thou helle, Y schal be thi mussel. (Sheol h7585)
Je les délivrerai de la main de la mort, je les rachèterai de la mort; je serai ta mort, ô mort; je serai ta morsure, ô enfer; la consolation s’est cachée à mes yeux. (Sheol h7585)
15 Coumfort is hid fro myn iyen, for he schal departe bitwixe britheren. The Lord schal brynge a brennynge wynd, stiynge fro desert; and it schal make drie the veynes therof, and it schal make desolat the welle therof; and he schal rauysche the tresour of ech desirable vessel.
Parce qu’il divisera les frères, le Seigneur fera venir un vent brûlant qui montera du désert; et il séchera ses ruisseaux, et tarira sa source, et enlèvera le trésor de tous ses objets précieux.
16 Samarie perische, for it stiride his God to bittirnesse; perische it bi swerd. The litle children of hem be hurtlid doun, and the wymmen with child therof be koruun.
Périsse Samarie, puisqu’elle a poussé son Dieu à l’exaspération; qu’ils périssent par le glaive, que leurs petits enfants soient écrasés, et que ses femmes enceintes soient coupées en deux.
