Hebrews 7
1 And this Melchisedech, king of Salem, and preest of the hiyeste God, which mette with Abraham, as he turnede ayen fro the sleyng of kyngis, and blesside hym;
Melquisedeque era o rei da cidade de Salém e sacerdote do Deus Altíssimo. Ele encontrou Abraão, que estava retornando da batalha em que matou os reis e, então, Melquisedeque o abençoou.
2 to whom also Abraham departide tithis of alle thingis; first he is seid king of riytwisnesse, and aftirward kyng of Salem, that is to seie, king of pees,
Abraão lhe deu a décima parte de tudo o que havia conseguido na batalha. O nome Melquisedeque significa “Rei de justiça,” enquanto rei de Salém significa “Rei da paz.”
3 with out fadir, with out modir, with out genologie, nether hauynge bigynnyng of daies, nether ende of lijf; and he is lickened to the sone of God, and dwellith preest with outen ende.
Nós não temos qualquer informação sobre o seu pai, a sua mãe ou até mesmo sobre a sua árvore genealógica. Não sabemos quando ele nasceu nem quando morreu. Como o Filho de Deus, ele continua sacerdote para sempre.
4 But biholde ye how greet is this, to whom Abraham the patriark yaf tithis of the beste thingis.
Pensem em como esse homem era importante, pois, Abraão, o patriarca, deu-lhe a décima parte do que havia conseguido na batalha.
5 For men of the sones of Leuy takinge presthod han maundement to take tithis of the puple, bi the lawe, that is to seie, of her britheren, thouy also thei wenten out of the leendis of Abraham.
Sim, de acordo com a lei, os sacerdotes, que são filhos de Levi, têm o direito de receber do povo a décima parte de tudo, ou seja, dos seus irmãos e irmãs, descendentes de Abraão.
6 But he whos generacioun is not noumbrid in hem, took tithis of Abraham; and he blesside this Abraham, which hadde repromyssiouns.
Mas Melquisedeque, que não era descendente de Levi, recebeu a décima parte de Abraão e abençoou aquele a quem Deus fez promessas.
7 With outen ony ayenseiyng, that that is lesse, is blessid of the betere.
Não há dúvida de que a pessoa menos importante é abençoada pela mais importante.
8 And heere deedli men taken tithis; but there he berith witnessyng, that he lyueth.
Aqueles que recebem a décima parte, no primeiro caso, são homens que morrem. Mas, no segundo caso, aquele de quem se testifica que vive.
9 And that it be seid so, bi Abraham also Leuy, that took tithis, was tithid; and yit he was in his fadris leendis,
Então, vocês poderiam pensar que Levi, aquele que recebe a décima parte, também pagou-a por ser um descendente de Abraão,
10 whanne Melchisedech mette with hym.
pois Levi ainda não tinha sido gerado por seu pai quando Melquisedeque encontrou Abraão.
11 Therfor if perfeccioun was bi the preesthood of Leuy, for vndur hym the puple took the lawe, what yit was it nedeful, another preest to rise, bi the ordre of Melchisedech, and not to be seid bi the ordre of Aaron?
Então, se a perfeição tivesse sido alcançada por meio do sacerdócio de Levi, pois foi assim que a lei foi recebida, por que haveria a necessidade de vir outro sacerdote, que seguisse a ordem do sacerdócio de Melquisedeque e, não, a de Arão?
12 For whi whanne the preesthod is translatid, it is nede that also translacioun of the lawe be maad.
Se o sacerdócio mudou, então, a lei também precisa ser mudada.
13 But he in whom these thingis ben seid, is of another lynage, of which no man was preest to the auter.
E Jesus, sobre quem falamos aqui, pertence a uma tribo diferente. E não houve nenhum membro dessa tribo que tenha servido como sacerdote no altar.
14 For it is opyn, that oure Lord is borun of Juda, in which lynage Moises spak no thing of preestis.
É claro que o nosso Senhor é um descendente da tribo de Judá, e Moisés não disse nada sobre sacerdotes vindos dessa tribo.
15 And more yit it is knowun, if bi the ordre of Melchisedech another preest is risun vp;
E tudo isso fica ainda mais claro, quando aparece outro sacerdote, semelhante a Melquisedeque.
16 which is not maad bi the lawe of fleischli maundement, but bi vertu of lijf that may not be vndon.
Ele não se tornou sacerdote por causa de seus antepassados humanos e, sim, pelo poder de uma vida que não tem fim.
17 For he witnessith, That thou art a preest with outen ende, bi the ordre of Melchisedech; (aiōn g165)
É por isso que se diz: “Você é um sacerdote para sempre, de acordo com a ordem do sacerdócio de Melquisedeque.” (aiōn g165)
18 that repreuyng of the maundement bifor goynge is maad, for the vnsadnesse and vnprofit of it.
Assim, a regra antiga foi anulada, pois era fraca e não funcionava.
19 For whi the lawe brouyt no thing to perfeccioun, but there is a bringing in of a betere hope, bi which we neiyen to God.
Pois a lei não tornava nada perfeito. Mas agora ela foi substituída por uma esperança melhor, pela qual nós ficamos mais próximos de Deus.
20 And hou greet it is, not with out sweryng; but the othere ben maad preestis with outen an ooth;
E isso não aconteceu sem um juramento, embora aqueles que se tornam sacerdotes o façam sem um juramento.
21 but this preest with an ooth, bi hym that seide `to hym, The Lord swoor, and it schal not rewe hym, Thou art a preest with outen ende, bi the ordre of Melchisedech; (aiōn g165)
Mas ele se tornou um sacerdote com um juramento, porque Deus lhe disse: “O Senhor fez uma promessa solene e não mudará de ideia: Você é um sacerdote para sempre.” (aiōn g165)
22 in so myche Jhesus is maad biheetere of the betere testament.
E foi assim que Jesus se tornou a garantia de uma relação combinada com Deus, que é muito melhor.
23 And the othere weren maad manye preestis, `therfor for thei weren forbedun bi deth to dwelle stille;
Houve muitos sacerdotes, porque a morte impedia que eles fossem capazes de continuar.
Mas, por Jesus viver para sempre, o seu sacerdócio é para sempre. (aiōn g165)
25 Wherfor also he may saue with outen ende, comynge nyy bi hym silf to God, and euermore lyueth to preye for vs.
Assim, ele é capaz de salvar completamente aquelas pessoas que se aproximam de Deus por meio dele, pois ele vive sempre para pedir a Deus em favor delas.
26 For it bisemyde that sich a man were a bischop to vs, hooli, innocent, vndefoulid, clene, departid fro synful men, and maad hiyere than heuenes;
Ele é exatamente o grande sacerdote que nós precisamos: santo e sem falhas, puro e separado dos pecadores, e a quem foi dado um lugar acima dos céus.
27 which hath not nede ech dai, as prestis, first for hise owne giltis to offre sacrifices, and aftirward for the puple; for he dide this thing in offringe hym silf onys.
Diferente daqueles grandes sacerdotes, ele não precisa oferecer sacrifícios diários por seus pecados e depois pelos pecados das pessoas. Ele fez isso apenas uma vez e para todos, quando ofereceu a sua própria vida.
28 And the lawe ordeynede men prestis hauynge sijknesse; but the word of swering, which is after the lawe, ordeynede the sone perfit with outen ende. (aiōn g165)
A lei escolhe homens imperfeitos como grandes sacerdotes, mas Deus fez a sua promessa solene depois da lei e escolheu o seu Filho, perfeito para sempre. (aiōn g165)
