< Haggai 2 >
1 In the seuenthe monethe, in the oon and twentith dai of the monethe, the word of the Lord was maad in the hond of Aggei, the profete, and seide,
In the seventh [month] on [day] twenty and one of the month it came [the] word of Yahweh by [the] hand of Haggai the prophet saying.
2 Speke thou to Sorobabel, the sone of Salatiel, the duyk of Juda, and to Jhesu, the gret preest, the sone of Josedech, and to othere of the puple, and seie thou,
Say please to Zerubbabel [the] son of Shealtiel [the] governor of Judah and to Joshua [the] son of Jehozadak the priest great and to [the] remnant of the people saying.
3 Who in you is left, that sai this hous in his firste glorie? and what seen ye this now? whether it is not thus, as if it be not bifore youre iyen?
Who? among you [is] the [one who] remains who he saw the house this in splendor its former and what? [are] you seeing it now ¿ not [is] as it as nothing in view your.
4 And now, Sorobabel, be thou coumfortid, seith the Lord, and Jhesu, greet preest, sone of Josedech, be thou coumfortid, and al the puple of the lond, be thou coumfortid, seith the Lord of oostis; and do ye, for Y am with you, seith the Lord of oostis.
And now be strong O Zerubbabel - [the] utterance of Yahweh and be strong O Joshua [the] son of Jehozadak the priest great and be strong O all [the] people of the land [the] utterance of Yahweh and work that I [am] with you [the] utterance of Yahweh of hosts.
5 The word that Y couenauntide with you, whanne ye wenten out of the lond of Egipt, and my Spirit schal be in the myddil of you.
The word which I cut with you when came out you from Egypt and spirit my [is] standing in midst of you may not you be afraid.
6 Nyle ye drede, for the Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Yit o litil thing is, and Y schal moue heuene, and erthe, and see, and drie lond;
For thus he says Yahweh of hosts yet one [time] [is] a little it and I [am] about to shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry ground.
7 and Y schal moue alle folkis, and the desirid to alle folkis schal come; and Y schal fille this hous with glorie, seith the Lord of oostis.
And I will shake all the nations and they will come [the] precious thing of all the nations and I will fill the house this splendor he says Yahweh of hosts.
8 Myn is siluer, and myn is gold, seith the Lord of oostes.
[belongs] to Me the silver and [belongs] to me the gold [the] utterance of Yahweh of hosts.
9 The glorie of this laste hous schal be greet, more than the firste, seith the Lord of oostis. And in this place Y schal yyue pees, seith the Lord of oostis.
Great it will be [the] splendor of the house this latter more than the former he says Yahweh of hosts and in the place this I will give peace [the] utterance of Yahweh of hosts.
10 In the foure and twentithe dai of the nynthe monethe, in the secounde yeer of kyng Daryus, the word of the Lord was maad to Aggei, the profete, and seide, The Lord God of oostis seith these thingis,
On [day] twenty and four of the ninth [month] in year two of Darius it came [the] word of Yahweh to Haggai the prophet saying.
11 Axe thou preestis the lawe, and seie thou,
Thus he says Yahweh of hosts ask please the priests instruction saying.
12 If a man takith halewyd fleisch in the hem of his clothing, and touchith of the hiynesse therof breed, ether potage, ether wyn, ether oile, ether ony mete, whether it schal be halewid? Sotheli preestis answeriden, and seiden, Nai.
There! - he will carry someone flesh of holiness in [the] skirt of garment his and he will touch with skirt his bread and cooked food and wine and oil and every food ¿ will it become holy and they answered the priests and they said no.
13 And Aggei seide, If a man defoulid in soule touchith of alle these thingis, whether it schal be defoulid? And prestis answeriden, and seiden, It schal be defoulid.
And he said Haggai if he will touch a [person] unclean of a corpse all these [things] ¿ will it become unclean and they answered the priests and they said it will become unclean.
14 And Aggei answeride, and seide, So is this puple, and so is this folc bifor my face, seith the Lord, and so is al werk of her hondis; and alle thingis whiche thei offren there, schulen be defoulid.
And he answered Haggai and he said [is] thus the people this and [is] thus the nation this before me [the] utterance of Yahweh and [is] thus all [the] work of hands their and [that] which they will bring near there [is] unclean it.
15 And nowe putte ye youre hertis, fro this dai and aboue, bifor that a stoon on a stoon was put in temple of the Lord,
And therefore set please heart your from the day this and up-wards from before put a stone to a stone in [the] temple of Yahweh.
16 whanne ye wenten to an heep of twenti buischels, and there weren maad ten; ye entriden to the pressour, that ye schulden presse out fifti galouns, and there weren maad twenti.
From when were they someone came to a heap of twenty [measures] and it was ten someone came to the wine vat to draw fifty [measures] a winepress and it was twenty.
17 Y smoot you with brennynge wynd; and with myldew, and hail, alle the werkis of youre hondis; and ther was noon in you that turnede ayen to me, seith the Lord.
I struck you with blight and with mildew and with hail all [the] work of hands your and not you to me [the] utterance of Yahweh.
18 Putte ye youre hertis fro this dai, and in to comynge, fro the foure and twentithe dai of the nynthe monethe, fro the dai in whiche foundementis of the temple of the Lord ben castun, putte ye on youre herte.
Set please heart your from the day this and up-wards from day twenty and four of the ninth [month] from the day when it was founded [the] temple of Yahweh set heart your.
19 Whether now seed is in buriownyng? and yit vineyerd, and fige tre, and pomgarnade, and the tre of olyue flouride not.
¿ Still [is] the seed in the granary and to the vine and the fig tree and the pomegranate and [the] tree of the olive not it has borne [fruit] from the day this I will bless.
20 Fro this dai Y schal blesse. And the word of the Lord was maad the secounde tyme to Aggei, in the foure and twentithe dai of the monethe,
And it came [the] word of Yahweh - a second [time] to Haggai on [day] twenty and four of the month saying.
21 and seide, Spek thou to Sorobabel, duik of Juda, and seie thou, Y shal moue heuene and erthe togidere, and Y schal distrie the seet of rewmes,
Say to Zerubbabel [the] governor of Judah saying I [am] about to shake the heavens and the earth.
22 and Y schal al to-breke the strengthe of rewme of hethene men, and schal distrie a foure horsid carte, and the stiere therof; and horsis schulen go doun, and stieris of hem, a man bi swerd of his brother.
And I will overthrow [the] throne of kingdoms and I will destroy [the] strength of [the] kingdoms of the nations and I will overthrow chariotry and riders its and they will go down horses and riders their each by [the] sword of brother his.
23 In that dai, seith the Lord of oostis, thou Sorobabel, sone of Salatiel, my seruaunt, Y schal take thee, seith the Lord; and Y schal putte thee as a signet, for Y chees thee, seith the Lord of oostis.
On the day that [the] utterance of Yahweh of hosts I will take you O Zerubbabel [the] son of Shealtiel servant my [the] utterance of Yahweh and I will make you like signet-ring for you I have chosen [the] utterance of Yahweh of hosts.
