Haggai 1
1 In the secounde yeer of Darius, kyng of Persis, in the sixte monethe, in the firste dai of the monethe, the word of the Lord was maad in the hond of Aggey, profete, to Sorobabel, sone of Salatiel, duyk of Juda, and to Jhesu, the greet preest, sone of Josedech,
La seconde année du roi Darius, le sixième mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée par Aggée, le prophète, à Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, gouverneur de Juda, et à Josué, fils de Jéhotsadak, grand sacrificateur, en ces mots:
2 and seide, The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, and spekith, This puple seith, Yit cometh not the tyme of the hous of the Lord to be bildid.
Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Ce peuple dit: Le moment n'est pas encore venu, le moment où la maison de l'Éternel doit être rebâtie.
3 And the word of the Lord was maad in the hond of Aggei,
C'est pourquoi la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée par Aggée, le prophète, en ces mots:
4 profete, and seide, Whether it is tyme to you, that ye dwelle in housis couplid with tymbir, and this hous be forsakun?
Est-ce le moment pour vous-mêmes de vous loger dans vos maisons lambrissées, tandis que cette maison est en ruine?
5 And now the Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Putte ye youre hertis on youre weies.
Or ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Soyez attentifs à la voie où vous êtes!
6 Ye han sowe myche, and brouyte in litil; ye han etun, and ben not fillid; ye han drunke, and ye ben not ful of drynk; ye hiliden you, and ye ben not maad hoote; and he that gaderide hiris, sente tho in to a sak holid, ether brokun.
Vous semez beaucoup et récoltez peu, vous mangez, mais non pas jusqu'à rassasiement, vous buvez, mais non pas votre soûl; vous avez des habits, mais non jusqu'à avoir chaud, et celui qui sert pour un gage, met ses gains dans une bourse trouée.
7 The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Putte ye youre hertis on youre weies.
Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Soyez attentifs à la voie où vous êtes!
8 Stie ye vp in to the munteyn, bere ye trees, and bilde ye an hous; and it schal be acceptable to me, and Y schal be glorified, seith the Lord.
Montez à la montagne et en amenez du bois, et bâtissez la maison, afin que j'en aie du plaisir et que gloire me soit rendue, dit l'Éternel.
9 Ye bihelden to more, and lo! it is maad lesse; and ye brouyten in to the hous, and Y blew it out. For what cause, seith the Lord of oostis? for myn hous is desert, and ye hasten ech man in to his hous.
Vous comptiez sur beaucoup, et voici, vous avez peu; et si vous l'amenez à la maison, je le dissipe. Pourquoi? dit l'Éternel des armées. A cause de ma maison qui est en ruine, tandis que vous êtes empressés chacun pour sa maison.
10 For this thing heuenes ben forbedun, that thei schulden not yyue dew on you; and the erthe is forbodun, that it schulde not yyue his buriownyng.
C'est pourquoi au-dessus de vous les Cieux retiennent la rosée, et la terre retient son produit;
11 And Y clepide drynesse on erthe, and on mounteyns, and on wheete, and on wyn, and on oile, and what euer thingis the erthe bryngith forth; and on men, and on beestis, and on al labour of hondis.
et j'ai appelé la sécheresse sur le pays et sur les montagnes, et sur le blé, et sur le moût, et sur l'huile, et sur tout ce que produit le sol, et sur l'homme, et sur le bétail, et sur tout le travail des mains.
12 And Sorobabel, the sone of Salatiel, and Jhesus, the greet preest, the sone of Josedech, and alle relifs of the puple, herden the vois of her God, and the wordis of Aggei, the profete, as the Lord God of hem sente him to hem; and al the puple dredde of the face of the Lord.
Et Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, et Josué, fils de Jéhotsadak, grand sacrificateur, et tous les restes du peuple furent dociles à la voix de l'Éternel, leur Dieu, et aux paroles d'Aggée, le prophète, parce que l'Éternel, leur Dieu, l'avait envoyé, et le peuple eut crainte de l'Éternel.
13 And Aggei, a messanger of the Lord, of the messangeris of the Lord, seide to the puple, and spak, Y am with you, seith the Lord.
Et Aggée, envoyé de l'Éternel, parla en vertu de la mission de l'Éternel au peuple en ces mots: Je suis avec vous, dit l'Éternel.
14 And the Lord reiside the spirit of Sorobabel, the sone of Salatiel, duik of Juda, and the spirit of Jhesu, the greet preest, the sone of Josedech, and the spirit of the relifs of al puple; and thei entriden, and maden werk in the hous of the Lord of oostis, her God.
Et l'Éternel donna l'éveil à l'esprit de Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, gouverneur de Juda, et à l'esprit de Josué, fils de Jéhotsadak, grand sacrificateur, et à l'esprit de tous les restes du peuple, et ils vinrent et se mirent à l'œuvre dans la maison de l'Éternel des armées, leur Dieu,
15 In the foure and twentithe dai of the monethe, in the sixte monethe, in the secunde yeer of kyng Darius.
le vingt-quatrième jour du sixième mois, la seconde année du roi Darius.
