Genesis 48
1 And so whanne these thingis weren don, it was teld to Joseph, that his fadir was sijk. And he took hise twei sones, Manasses and Effraym, and he disposide to go.
Après cela l'on vint dire à Joseph que son père était malade; alors, prenant ses deux fils Manassé et Ephraïm, il se rendit auprès de Jacob,
2 And it was seid to the elde man, Lo! thi sone Joseph cometh to thee; which was coumfortid, and sat in the bed.
Et l'on alla dire à Jacob: Voici ton fils Joseph qui arrive auprès de toi. À ces mots, Israël, fatigué, s'assit sur sa couche.
3 And whanne Joseph entride to hym, he seide, Almyyti God apperide to me in Luza, which is in the lond of Canaan, and blesside me,
Et Jacob dit à Joseph: Mon Dieu m'est apparu à Luza, en la terre de Chanaan; il m'a béni,
4 and seide, Y schal encreesse and multiplie thee, and Y schal make thee in to cumpanyes of puplis, and Y schal yyue to thee this lond, and to thi seed aftir thee, in to euerlastinge possessioun.
Et il m'a dit: Je te ferai croître et multiplier; je te ferai chef d'une réunion de nations; je donnerai cette terre comme héritage perpétuel à toi, et après toi à ta race.
5 Therfor thi twei sones, that ben borun to thee in the lond of Egipt bifore that Y cam hidir to thee, schulen be myne, Effraym and Manasses as Ruben and Symeon schulen be arettid to me;
Maintenant donc, tes fils Ephraïm et Manassé, qui te sont nés en Égypte avant que j'y vinsse, sont les miens tout comme Ruben et Siméon.
6 forsothe the othere whiche thou schalt gendre aftir hem schulen be thine; and thei schulen be clepid bi the name of her britheren in her possessiouns.
Mais les rejetons que tu engendreras après ceux-ci seront comptés parmi les tribus de leurs frères, et on les nommera d'après l'héritage de ceux-ci.
7 Forsothe whanne Y cam fro Mesopotamye, Rachel was deed to me in the lond of Canaan, in thilke weie; and it was the bigynnyng of somer; and Y entride in to Effrata, and beriede hir bisidis the weie of Effrata, which bi anothir name is clepid Bethleem.
Lorsque je revins de la Mésopotamie syrienne, ta mère, Rachel, mourut en la terre de Chanaan, comme j'étais près d'arriver à Ephratha, en suivant l'hippodrome de la terre d'Habratha, et je l'ensevelis sur le chemin de l'hippodrome: ce lieu est aujourd'hui Bethléem.
8 Forsothe Jacob seiy the sones of Joseph, and seide to him, Who ben these?
Or, Israël, ayant vu les fils de Joseph, dit: Qui sont-ils?
9 He answeride, Thei ben my sones, whiche God yaf to me in this place. Jacob seide, Brynge hem to me that Y blesse hem.
Joseph dit à son père: Ce sont les fils que Dieu m'a donnés ici; et Jacob reprit: Amène-les-moi, que je les bénisse.
10 For `the iyen of Israel, dasewiden for greet eelde, and he myyte not se clereli; and he kisside and collide tho children ioyned to hym, and seide to his sone,
C'est que Jacob avait les yeux affaiblis par l'âge, et il ne pouvait plus bien voir; Joseph amena les enfants à son père; celui-ci les serra dans ses bras et les baisa.
11 Y am not defraudid of thi siyt; ferthermore God schewide to me thi seed.
Israël dit alors à Joseph: Voilà que je n'ai point été privé de te revoir, et de plus Dieu m'a montré tes enfants.
12 And whanne Joseph hadde take hem fro `the fadris lappe, he worschipide lowe to erthe.
Joseph les fit avancer, et ils se prosternèrent devant Jacob la face contre terre.
13 And he sette Effraym on his riyt side, that is, on the lift side of Israel; forsothe he settide Manasses in his lift side, that is, on the riyt side of the fadir; and he ioynede bothe to hym.
Or, Joseph, ayant pris ses fils, plaça l'un, Ephraïm, à sa main droite et à la gauche d'Israël, et l'autre, Manassé, à sa main gauche et à la droite d'Israël, et il les mena ainsi tout près de son père.
14 Which helde forth the riyt hond, and settide on `the heed of Effraym, the lesse brothir; sotheli he settide the left hond on `the heed of Manasses, that was the more thury birthe. Jacob chaungide `the hondes,
Alors, Israël étendit la main droite, et la posa sur la tête d'Ephraïm, qui était le plus jeune, et il posa la main gauche sur la tête de Manassé.
15 and blesside his sone Joseph, and seide, God, in whos siyt my fadris Abraham and Isaac yeden; God, that fedith me fro my yong wexynge age til in to present day;
Et les bras ainsi croisés, il les bénit et il dit: Que le Dieu devant qui mes pères Abraham et Isaac ont trouvé grâce, que le Dieu qui a pris soin de moi depuis ma jeunesse jusqu'à ce jour,
16 the aungel that delyuerede me fro alle yuelis, blesse thes children, and my name be clepid on hem, and the names of my fadris Abraham and Ysaac; and wexe thei in multitude on erthe.
Que l'ange qui m'a tiré de tous mes périls, bénisse ces deux enfants. En eux seront invoqués mon nom et le nom de mes pères Abraham et Isaac; qu'ils se multiplient à l'infini sur la terre.
17 Forsothe Joseph seiy that his fadir hadde set the riyt hond on the heed of Effraym, and took heuyli, and he enforside to reise the fadris hond takun fro the heed of Effraym, and to bere `ouer on `the heed of Manasses.
Or, Joseph ayant vu que son père avait posé la main droite sur la tête d'Ephraïm, en fut affligé, et il prit la main de son père pour l'ôter de la tête d'Ephraïm et la remettre sur celle de Manassé.
18 And he seide to the fadir, Fadir, it acordith not so; for this is the firste gendrid; sette thi riyt hond on the heed `of hym.
Et Joseph dit à son père: Ce n'est pas ainsi, père, car celui-ci est le premier-né; pose la main droite sur sa tête.
19 Which forsook and seide, Y woot, my sone, Y woot; and sotheli this child schal be in to puplis, and he schal be multiplied; but his yonger brother schal be more than he, and `his seed schal encreesse in to folkis.
Mais Jacob ne voulut pas, et il dit: Je le sais, enfant, je le sais; celui-ci pareillement sera chef de peuple, celui-ci pareillement sera glorifié, mais son frère le plus jeune sera plus grand que lui, et sa race s'étendra en plusieurs nations.
20 And he blesside hem in that tyme, and seide, Israel schal be blessid in thee, Joseph, and it schal be seid, God do to thee as to Effraym and as to Manasses. And he settide Effraym bifore Manasses;
Et ce même jour il les bénit, et dit: En vous l'on bénira Israël, en disant: «Puisse Dieu te traiter comme Ephraïm et comme Manassé.»Il plaça ainsi Ephraïm avant Manassé.
21 and seide to Joseph, his sone, Lo! Y die, and God schal be with you, and schal lede you ayen to the lond of youre fadris;
Israël dit ensuite à Joseph: je meurs, mais Dieu sera avec vous, et il vous reconduira en la terre de vos pères.
22 Y yyue to thee o part ouer thi britheren which Y took fro the hand of Amorei, in my swerd and bowe.
Et je te donne, comme part d'élite, outre ce qu'auront mes fils, Sicime, que j'ai enlevée aux Amorrhéens par mon arc et mon glaive.
