Genesis 44
1 Forsothe Joseph comaundid the dispendere of his hous, and seide, Fille thou her sackis with wheete, as myche as tho moun take, and putte thou the money of ech in the hiynesse of the sak;
Şi a poruncit administratorului casei sale, spunând: Umple sacii bărbaţilor cu hrană, atât cât pot căra; şi pune banii fiecărui bărbat la gura sacului său.
2 forsothe put thou in the mouth of the sak of the yongere my silueren cuppe, and the prijs of wheete which he yaf; and it was doon so.
Şi pune paharul meu, paharul de argint, la gura sacului celui mai tânăr şi banii lui pentru grâne. Iar el a făcut conform cuvântului pe care Iosif l-a spus.
3 And whanne the morewtid roos, thei weren delyuered with her assis.
Imediat ce s-a luminat de dimineaţă, bărbaţii au fost trimişi, ei şi măgarii lor.
4 And now thei hadden go out of the citee, and hadden go forth a litil; thanne Joseph seide, whanne the dispendere of his hous was clepid, Rise thou, pursue the men, and seye thou whanne thei ben takun, Whi han ye yolde yuel for good?
Şi după ce au ieşit din cetate şi nu erau încă departe, Iosif a spus administratorului său: Ridică-te, urmăreşte bărbaţii aceia; şi după ce îi ajungi, spune-le: Pentru ce aţi răsplătit rău pentru bine?
5 The cuppe, which ye han stole, is thilk in which my lord drynkith, and in which he is wont to dyuyne; ye han do a ful wickid thing.
Nu este acesta, paharul din care domnul meu bea, şi prin care într-adevăr el ghiceşte? Aţi făcut rău făcând astfel.
6 He dide as Joseph comaundid, and whanne thei weren takun, he spak bi ordre.
Şi i-a ajuns şi le-a vorbit aceste cuvinte.
7 Whiche answeriden, Whi spekith oure lord so, that thi seruauntis han do so greet trespas?
Iar ei i-au spus: Pentru ce spune domnul meu aceste cuvinte? Nicidecum nu vor face servitorii tăi conform acestui lucru.
8 We brouyten ayen to thee fro the lond of Chanaan the monei which we founden in the hiynesse of sackis, and hou is it suynge that we han stole fro `the hows of thi lord gold ether siluer?
Iată, banii pe care noi i-am găsit la gura sacilor noştri, i-am adus din nou la tine din ţara lui Canaan; cum atunci am fura noi argint sau aur din casa domnului tău?
9 At whom euere of thi seruauntis this that thou sekist is foundun, die he, and we schulen be seruauntis of my lord.
La oricare din servitorii tăi ar fi găsită, deopotrivă el să moară, iar noi de asemenea vom fi robii domnului meu.
10 Which seide to hem, Be it doon bi youre sentence; at whom it is foundun, be he my seruaunt; forsothe ye schulen be gilteles.
Iar el a spus: Acum de asemenea aceasta să fie conform cuvintelor voastre, cel la care paharul este găsit va fi robul meu, iar voi veţi fi fără vină.
11 And so thei diden doun hastili the sackis on erthe, and alle openyden tho whiche he souyte;
Atunci ei îndată şi-au coborât la pământ fiecare sacul său şi fiecare şi-a deschis sacul.
12 and bigan at the more til to the leeste, and foond the cuppe in `the sak of Beniamyn.
Şi a căutat începând de la cel mai în vârstă şi a terminat la cel mai tânăr, şi paharul s-a găsit în sacul lui Beniamin.
13 And whanne thei hadden `to-rent her clothis, and hadden chargid eft the assis, thei turneden ayen in to the citee.
Atunci ei şi-au rupt hainele şi fiecare bărbat şi-a încărcat măgarul şi s-au întors în cetate.
14 And Judas entride `the firste with brithren to Joseph; for he hadde not go yit fro the place; and alle felden togidere on erthe bifore hym.
Şi Iuda şi fraţii săi au venit la casa lui Iosif, căci el era încă acolo; şi au căzut înaintea lui la pământ.
15 To whiche he seide, Whi wolden ye do so? whether ye witen not, that noon is lijk me in the kunnyng of dyuinyng?
Şi Iosif le-a spus: Ce faptă este aceasta pe care aţi făcut-o? Sau nu ştiţi că un astfel de om ca mine poate cu adevărat ghici?
16 To whom Judas seide, What schulen we answere to my lord, ether what schulen we speke, ether moun iustli ayenseie? God hath founde the wickidnesse of thi seruauntis; lo! alle we ben the seruauntis of my lord, bothe we and he at whom the cuppe is foundun.
Şi Iuda a spus: Ce să spunem domnului meu? Ce să vorbim? Sau cum să ne dezvinovăţim? Dumnezeu a descoperit nelegiuirea servitorilor tăi; iată, noi suntem servitorii domnului meu, deopotrivă noi şi de asemenea cel cu care paharul a fost găsit.
17 Joseph answeride, Fer be it fro me, that Y do so; he be my seruaunt that stal the cuppe; forsothe go ye fre to youre fadir.
Iar el a spus: Nicidecum nu voi face astfel; ci bărbatul în a cărui mână a fost găsit paharul, acela va fi servitorul meu; şi cât despre voi, urcaţi-vă în pace la tatăl vostru.
18 Sotheli Judas neiyede neer, and seide tristili, My lord, Y preye, thi seruaunt speke a word in thin eeris, and be thou not wrooth to thi seruaunt; for aftir Farao thou art my lord.
Atunci Iuda s-a apropiat de el şi a spus: Vai domnul meu, lasă pe servitorul tău, te rog, să vorbească un cuvânt în urechile domnului meu şi nu lăsa mânia ta să se aprindă împotriva servitorului tău, căci tu eşti întocmai ca Faraon.
19 Thou axidist first thi seruauntis, Han ye a fadir, ether a brother?
Domnul meu a întrebat pe servitorii săi, spunând: Aveţi voi un tată, sau un frate?
20 And we answeriden to thee, my lord, An eld fadir is to vs, and a litil child that was borun in his eelde, whos brother of the same wombe is deed, and his modir hath hym aloone; forsothe his fadir loueth hym tendirli.
Şi noi am spus domnului meu: Avem un tată, un om bătrân, şi un copil al bătrâneţii lui, unul mic; şi fratele lui este mort şi numai el a rămas de la mama sa; şi tatăl său îl iubeşte.
21 And thou seidist to thi seruauntis, Brynge ye hym to me, and Y schal sette myn iyen on hym.
Şi tu ai spus servitorilor tăi: Aduceţi-l jos la mine, ca să îmi pun ochii mei peste el.
22 We maden suggestioun to thee, my lord, the child may not forsake his fadir; for if he schal leeue the fadir, he schal die.
Şi noi am spus domnului meu: Tânărul nu poate părăsi pe tatăl său, căci dacă el va părăsi pe tatăl său, tatăl său va muri.
23 And thou seidist to thi seruauntis, If youre leeste brother schal not come with you, ye schulen no more se my face.
Şi tu ai spus servitorilor tăi: Dacă fratele vostru cel mai tânăr nu coboară cu voi, nu îmi veţi mai vedea faţa.
24 Therfor whanne we hadden stied to thi seruaunt, oure fadir, we telden to hym alle thingis whiche my lord spak; and oure fadir seide,
Şi s-a întâmplat când noi am urcat la servitorul tău, tatăl meu, că i-am spus cuvintele domnului meu.
25 Turne ye ayen, and bie ye to you a litil of wheete;
Şi tatăl nostru a spus: Mergeţi din nou şi cumpăraţi-ne puţină hrană.
26 to whom we seiden, We moun not go; if oure leeste brother schal go doun with vs, we schulen go forth togidere; ellis, if he is absent, we doren not se the `face of the lord.
Iar noi am spus: Nu putem coborî decât dacă fratele nostru cel mai tânăr este cu noi, atunci vom coborî; căci nu putem vedea faţa bărbatului, decât dacă fratele nostru cel mai tânăr este cu noi.
27 To whiche thingis the fadir answeride, Ye witen that my wiif childide twei sones to me;
Şi servitorul tău, tatăl meu, ne-a spus: Ştiţi că soţia mea mi-a născut doi fii;
28 oon yede out, and ye seiden, a beeste deuouride hym, and hidir to he apperith not;
Şi unul a plecat de la mine şi am spus: Cu adevărat este sfâşiat în bucăţi; şi nu l-am văzut de atunci.
29 if ye taken also this sone, and ony thing bifallith to hym in the weye, ye schulen lede forth myn hoor heeris with morenyng to hellis. (Sheol h7585)
Şi dacă îl luaţi şi pe acesta de la mine şi i se întâmplă nenorocire veţi coborî perii mei cărunţi cu întristare în mormânt. (Sheol h7585)
30 Therfor if Y entre to thi seruaunt, oure fadir, and the child faile, sithen his lijf hangith of the lijf of the child,
Acum de aceea când eu ajung la servitorul tău, tatăl meu, şi tânărul nu este cu noi, văzând că viaţa lui este legată de viaţa tânărului,
31 and he se that the child is not with vs, he schal die, and thi seruauntis schulen lede forth hise hoor heeris with sorewe to hellis. (Sheol h7585)
Se va întâmpla, când el vede că tânărul nu este cu noi, că va muri; şi servitorii tăi vor coborî perii cărunţi ai servitorului tău, tatăl nostru, cu întristare în mormânt. (Sheol h7585)
32 Be Y propirli thi seruaunt, which resseyuede this child on my feith, and bihiyte, and seide, If Y schal not brynge ayen hym, Y schal be gilti of synne ayens my fadir in al tyme;
Căci servitorul tău a devenit garanţie pentru tânăr pentru tatăl meu, spunând: Dacă nu îl aduc la tine, atunci voi suporta vina faţă de tatăl meu pentru totdeauna.
33 and so Y schal dwelle thi seruaunt for the child in to the seruyce of my lord, and the child stie with hise britheren;
Acum de aceea, te rog, lasă pe servitorul tău să rămână în locul tânărului ca rob domnului meu; şi lasă tânărul să urce cu fraţii săi.
34 for Y may not go ayen to my fadir, if the child is absent, lest Y stonde a witnesse of the wretchidnesse that schal oppresse my fadir.
Căci cum voi urca la tatăl meu şi băiatul să nu fie cu mine? Ca nu cumva să văd răul ce va veni peste tatăl meu!
