Genesis 4
1 Forsothe Adam knewe Eue his wijf, which conseyuede, and childide Cayn, and seide, Y haue gete a man bi God.
E Adão conheceu a sua mulher Eva, a qual concebeu e deu à luz a Caim, e disse: Obtive um homem pelo SENHOR.
2 And efte sche childide his brother Abel. Forsothe Abel was a kepere of scheep, and Cayn was an erthe tilyere.
E depois deu à luz a seu irmão Abel. E foi Abel pastor de ovelhas, e Caim foi lavrador da terra.
3 Sotheli it was don after many daies, that Cayn offride yiftis to the Lord of the fruytis of erthe;
E aconteceu, decorrendo o tempo, que Caim trouxe do fruto da terra uma oferta ao SENHOR.
4 and Abel offride of the first gendrid of his floc, and of the fatnesse of tho. And the Lord bihelde to Abel and to the yiftis of hym;
E Abel trouxe também dos primogênitos de suas ovelhas, e de sua gordura. E olhou o SENHOR com agrado a Abel e à sua oferta;
5 sotheli he bihelde not to Cayn and to hise yiftis. And Cayn was wrooth greetli, and his cheer felde doun.
mas não olhou com bons olhos a Caim e à sua oferta. Caim irritou-se muito, e descaiu-lhe o semblante.
6 And the Lord seide to hym, Whi art thou wrooth, and whi felde doun thi face?
Então o SENHOR disse a Caim: Por que te irritaste, e por que o teu semblante descaiu?
7 Whether not if thou schalt do wel, thou schalt resseyue; but if thou doist yuele, thi synne schal be present anoon in the yatis? but the desir therof schal be vndur thee, and thou schalt be lord therof.
Se bem fizeres, não serás aceito? E se não fizeres bem, o pecado está à porta; contra ti será o seu desejo, porém tu deves dominá-lo.
8 And Cayn seide to Abel his brother, Go we out. And whanne thei weren in the feeld, Cayn roos ayens his brother Abel, and killide him.
Depois Caim falou a seu irmão Abel; e aconteceu que, estando eles no campo, Caim se levantou contra seu irmão Abel, e o matou.
9 And the Lord seide to Cayn, Where is Abel thi brother? Which answerde, Y woot not; whether Y am the kepere of my brothir?
E o SENHOR disse a Caim: Onde está teu irmão Abel? E ele respondeu: Não sei; sou eu guarda do meu irmão?
10 And God seide to Cayn, What hast thou do? the vois of the blood of thi brother crieth to me fro erthe.
E ele lhe disse: Que fizeste? A voz do sangue do teu irmão clama a mim desde a terra.
11 Now therfor thou schalt be cursid on erthe, that openyde his mouth, and resseyuede of thin hond the blood of thi brothir.
Agora, pois, maldito sejas tu da terra que abriu sua boca para receber o sangue de teu irmão de tua mão:
12 Whanne thou schalt worche the erthe, it schal not yyue his fruytis to thee; thou schalt be vnstable of dwellyng and fleynge aboute on erthe in alle the daies of thi lijf.
Quando lavrares a terra, não te voltará a dar sua força: errante e fugitivo serás na terra.
13 And Cayn seide to the Lord, My wickidnesse is more than that Y disserue foryyuenesse; lo!
E disse Caim ao SENHOR: Grande é minha iniquidade para ser perdoada.
14 to dai thou castist me out fro the face of the erthe; and Y schal be hid fro thi face, and Y schal be vnstable of dwellyng and fleynge aboute in erthe; therfore ech man that schal fynde me schal slee me.
Eis que me expulsas hoje da face da terra, e de tua presença me esconderei; e serei errante e fugitivo na terra; e sucederá que qualquer um que me achar, me matará.
15 And the Lord seide to hym, It schal not be don so, but ech man that schal slee Cayn shal be punyschid seuenfold. And the Lord settide a signe in Cayn, that ech man that schulde fynde hym schulde not slee hym.
E respondeu-lhe o SENHOR: Certo que qualquer um que matar a Caim, sete vezes será castigado. Então o SENHOR pôs sinal em Caim, para que não o ferisse qualquer um que o achasse.
16 And Cayn yede out fro the face of the Lord, and dwellide fleynge aboute in erthe, at the eest coost of Eden.
E saiu Caim de diante do SENHOR, e habitou na terra de Node, ao oriente de Éden.
17 Forsothe Cayn knewe his wiif, which conseyuede, and childide Enoth; and Cayn bildide a citee, and clepide the name therof of the name of hise sone Enoth.
E conheceu Caim a sua mulher, a qual concebeu e deu à luz a Enoque: e edificou uma cidade, e chamou o nome da cidade do nome de seu filho, Enoque.
18 Forsothe Enoth gendride Irad, and Irad gendride Manyael, and Manyael gendride Matusael, and Matusael gendride Lameth;
E a Enoque nasceu Irade, e Irade gerou a Meujael, e Meujael gerou a Metusael, e Metusael gerou a Lameque.
19 that took twei wyues, the name to o wijf was Ada, and the name to the tother was Sella.
E tomou para si Lameque duas mulheres; o nome de uma foi Ada, e o nome da outra Zilá.
20 And Ada gendride Jabel, that was the fadir of dwellers in tentis and of shepherdis;
E Ada deu à luz a Jabal, o qual foi pai dos que habitam em tendas, e criam gados.
21 and the name of his brother was Tubal, he was the fadir of syngeris in harpe and orgun.
E o nome de seu irmão foi Jubal, o qual foi pai de todos os que manejam harpa e flauta.
22 And Sella gendride Tubalcayn, that was an hamerbetere, and smyyt on alle werkis of bras and of yrun; forsothe the sistir of Tubalcayn was Neoma.
E Zilá também deu à luz a Tubalcaim, feitor de toda obra de bronze e de ferro: e a irmã de Tubalcaim foi Naamá.
23 And Lameth seide to his wyues Ada and Sella, Ye wyues of Lameth, here my vois, and herkne my word; for Y haue slayn a man bi my wounde, and a yong wexynge man bi my `violent betyng;
E disse Lameque a suas mulheres: Ada e Zilá, ouvi minha voz; Mulheres de Lameque, escutai meu dito: Que matei um homem por ter me ferido, E um rapaz por ter me golpeado:
24 veniaunce schal be youun seuenfold of Cayn, forsothe of Lameth seuentisithis seuensithis.
Se sete vezes será vingado Caim, Lameque em verdade setenta vezes sete o será.
25 Also yit Adam knewe his wijf, and sche childide a sone, and clepide his name Seth, and seide, God hath put to me another seed for Abel, whom Cayn killide.
E conheceu de novo Adão à sua mulher, a qual deu à luz um filho, e chamou seu nome Sete: Porque Deus (disse ela) me substituiu outra descendência em lugar de Abel, a quem matou Caim.
26 But also a sone was borun to Seth, which sone he clepide Enos; this Enos bigan to clepe inwardli the name of the Lord.
E a Sete também lhe nasceu um filho, e chamou seu nome Enos. Então os homens começaram a invocar o nome do SENHOR.
