Genesis 4
1 Forsothe Adam knewe Eue his wijf, which conseyuede, and childide Cayn, and seide, Y haue gete a man bi God.
Potem Adam poznał Ewę, żonę swoję, która poczęła i porodziła Kaina, i rzekła: Otrzymałam męża od Pana.
2 And efte sche childide his brother Abel. Forsothe Abel was a kepere of scheep, and Cayn was an erthe tilyere.
I porodził zasię brata jego Abla; i był Abel pasterzem owiec, a Kain był rolnikiem.
3 Sotheli it was don after many daies, that Cayn offride yiftis to the Lord of the fruytis of erthe;
I stało się po wielu dni, iż przyniósł Kain z owocu ziemi ofiarę Panu.
4 and Abel offride of the first gendrid of his floc, and of the fatnesse of tho. And the Lord bihelde to Abel and to the yiftis of hym;
Także i Abel przyniósł z pierworodztw trzód swoich i z tłustości ich; i wejrzał Pan na Abla i na ofiarę jego.
5 sotheli he bihelde not to Cayn and to hise yiftis. And Cayn was wrooth greetli, and his cheer felde doun.
Ale na Kaina i na ofiarę jego nie wejrzał; i rozgniewał się Kain bardzo, i spadła twarz jego.
6 And the Lord seide to hym, Whi art thou wrooth, and whi felde doun thi face?
Tedy rzekł Pan do Kaina: Przeczżeś się zapalił gniewem a czemu spadła twarz twoja?
7 Whether not if thou schalt do wel, thou schalt resseyue; but if thou doist yuele, thi synne schal be present anoon in the yatis? but the desir therof schal be vndur thee, and thou schalt be lord therof.
Azaż, jeźli dobrze czynić będziesz, nie będziesz wywyższon? a jeźli nie będziesz dobrze czynił, we drzwiach grzech leży; a do ciebie chuć jego będzie, a ty nad nim panować będziesz.
8 And Cayn seide to Abel his brother, Go we out. And whanne thei weren in the feeld, Cayn roos ayens his brother Abel, and killide him.
I rozmawiał Kain z Ablem bratem swoim. I stało się, gdy byli na polu, że powstał Kain na Abla brata swego, i zabił go.
9 And the Lord seide to Cayn, Where is Abel thi brother? Which answerde, Y woot not; whether Y am the kepere of my brothir?
I rzekł Pan do Kaina: Gdzież jest Abel brat twój? który odpowiedział: Nie wiem; izalim ja stróżem brata mego?
10 And God seide to Cayn, What hast thou do? the vois of the blood of thi brother crieth to me fro erthe.
I rzekł Bóg: Cóżeś uczynił? Głos krwi brata twego woła do mnie z ziemi.
11 Now therfor thou schalt be cursid on erthe, that openyde his mouth, and resseyuede of thin hond the blood of thi brothir.
Teraz tedy przeklętym będziesz na ziemi, która otworzyła usta swe, aby przyjęła krew brata twego z ręki twojej.
12 Whanne thou schalt worche the erthe, it schal not yyue his fruytis to thee; thou schalt be vnstable of dwellyng and fleynge aboute on erthe in alle the daies of thi lijf.
Gdy będziesz sprawował ziemię, nie wyda więcej mocy swej tobie; tułaczem, i biegunem będziesz na ziemi.
13 And Cayn seide to the Lord, My wickidnesse is more than that Y disserue foryyuenesse; lo!
Tedy rzekł Kain do Pana: Większa jest nieprawość moja, niżby mi ją odpuścić miano.
14 to dai thou castist me out fro the face of the erthe; and Y schal be hid fro thi face, and Y schal be vnstable of dwellyng and fleynge aboute in erthe; therfore ech man that schal fynde me schal slee me.
Oto mię dziś wyganiasz z oblicza tej ziemi, a przed twarzą twoją skryję się, i będę tułaczem, i biegunem na ziemi; i stanie się, że ktokolwiek mię znajdzie, zabije mię.
15 And the Lord seide to hym, It schal not be don so, but ech man that schal slee Cayn shal be punyschid seuenfold. And the Lord settide a signe in Cayn, that ech man that schulde fynde hym schulde not slee hym.
I rzekł mu Pan: Zaiste, ktobykolwiek zabił Kaina, siedmioraką odniesie pomstę. I włożył Pan na Kaina piętno, aby go nie zabijał, ktobykolwiek znalazł.
16 And Cayn yede out fro the face of the Lord, and dwellide fleynge aboute in erthe, at the eest coost of Eden.
Tedy odszedł Kain od oblicza Pańskiego, i mieszkał w ziemi Nod, na wschód słońca od Eden.
17 Forsothe Cayn knewe his wiif, which conseyuede, and childide Enoth; and Cayn bildide a citee, and clepide the name therof of the name of hise sone Enoth.
I poznał Kain żonę swą, która poczęła, i porodziła Enocha; i zbudował miasto, i nazwał imię miasta tego imieniem syna swego, Enoch.
18 Forsothe Enoth gendride Irad, and Irad gendride Manyael, and Manyael gendride Matusael, and Matusael gendride Lameth;
I urodził się Enochowi Irad, a Irad spłodził Mawiaela, a Mawiael spłodził Matusaela, a Matusael spłodził Lamecha.
19 that took twei wyues, the name to o wijf was Ada, and the name to the tother was Sella.
I pojął sobie Lamech dwie żony; imię jednej, Ada, a imię drugiej, Sella.
20 And Ada gendride Jabel, that was the fadir of dwellers in tentis and of shepherdis;
Tedy urodziła Ada Jabala, który był ojcem mieszkających w namieciech, i pasterzów.
21 and the name of his brother was Tubal, he was the fadir of syngeris in harpe and orgun.
A imię brata jego było Jubal, który był ojcem wszystkich grających na harfie, i na muzyckiem naczyniu.
22 And Sella gendride Tubalcayn, that was an hamerbetere, and smyyt on alle werkis of bras and of yrun; forsothe the sistir of Tubalcayn was Neoma.
Sella też urodziła Tubalkaina, rzemieślnika wszelkiej roboty, od miedzi i od żelaza. A siostra Tubalkainowa była Noema.
23 And Lameth seide to his wyues Ada and Sella, Ye wyues of Lameth, here my vois, and herkne my word; for Y haue slayn a man bi my wounde, and a yong wexynge man bi my `violent betyng;
Tedy rzekł Lamech żonom swym, Adzie i Selli: Słuchajcie głosu mego, żony Lamechowe, posłuchajcie słów moich; zabiłbym ja męża za zranienie moje, i młodzieńca za siność moję.
24 veniaunce schal be youun seuenfold of Cayn, forsothe of Lameth seuentisithis seuensithis.
Jeźlić siedmiokroć mścić się będą za Kaina, tedyć za Lamecha siedemdziesiąt i siedem kroć.
25 Also yit Adam knewe his wijf, and sche childide a sone, and clepide his name Seth, and seide, God hath put to me another seed for Abel, whom Cayn killide.
I poznał jeszcze Adam żonę swą, która urodziła syna, i nazwała imię jego Set, mówiąc: Dał mi Bóg inne potomstwo miasto Abla, którego zabił Kain.
26 But also a sone was borun to Seth, which sone he clepide Enos; this Enos bigan to clepe inwardli the name of the Lord.
Setowi też urodził się syn, i nazwał imię jego Enos. Na ten czas poczęto wzywać imienia Pańskiego.
