Genesis 37
1 Forsothe Jacob dwellide in the lond of Canaan, in which his fadir was a pilgrym; and these weren the generaciouns of hym.
OR Giacobbe abitò nel paese dove suo padre era andato peregrinando, nel paese di Canaan.
2 Joseph whanne he was of sixtene yeer, yit a child, kepte a flok with hise britheren, and was with the sones of Bala and Zelfa, wyues of his fadir; and he accuside his britheren at the fadir of `the worste synne.
E le generazioni di Giacobbe [furono] quelle. Giuseppe, essendo giovane, d'età di diciassette anni, pasturava le gregge, coi suoi fratelli, co' figliuoli di Bilha, e coi figliluoli di Zilpa, mogli di suo padre. Ed egli rapportava al padre loro la mala fama che andava attorno di loro.
3 Forsothe Israel louyde Joseph ouer alle hise sones, for he hadde gendrid hym in eelde; and he made to Joseph a cote of many colours.
Or Israele amava Giuseppe più che tutti gli altri suoi figliuoli; perciocchè gli era nato nella sua vecchiezza, e gli fece una giubba vergata.
4 Forsothe hise britheren sien that he was loued of the fader more than alle, and thei hatiden hym, and myyten not speke ony thing pesibli to hym.
E i suoi fratelli, veggendo che il padre loro l'amava più che tutti i suoi fratelli, l'odiavano, e non potevano parlar con lui in pace.
5 And it bifelde that he telde to hise britheren a sweuene seyn, which cause was `the seed of more hatrede.
E Giuseppe sognò un sogno, ed egli lo [raccontò] a' suoi fratelli; ed essi l'odiarono vie maggiormente.
6 And Joseph seide to his britheren, Here ye the sweuene which Y seiy,
Egli adunque disse loro: Deh! udite questo sogno che io ho sognato.
7 Y gesside that we bounden to gidere handfuls, and that as myn handful roos, and stood, and that youre handfuls stoden aboute and worschipiden myn handful.
Ecco, noi legavamo i covoni in mezzo di un campo; ed ecco, il mio covone si levò su, ed anche si tenne ritto; ed ecco, i vostri covoni furon d'intorno al mio covone, e gli s'inchinarono.
8 Hise britheren answerden, Whether thou shalt be oure kyng, ethir we shulen be maad suget to thi lordschip? Therfor this cause of sweuenys and wordis mynystride the nurschyng of enuye, and of hatrede.
E i suoi fratelli gli dissero: Regneresti tu pur sopra noi? signoreggeresti tu pur sopra noi? Essi adunque l'odiarono vie maggiormente per i suoi sogni, e per le sue parole.
9 Also Joseph seiy another sweuene, which he telde to the britheren, and seide, Y seiy bi a sweuene that as the sunne, and moone, and enleuen sterris worschipiden me.
Ed egli sognò ancora un altro sogno, e lo raccontò a' suoi fratelli, dicendo: Ecco, io ho sognato ancora un sogno: ed ecco, il sole, e la luna, ed undici stelle, mi s'inchinavano.
10 And whanne he hadde teld this sweuene to his fadir, and britheren, his fadir blamyde him, and seide, What wole this sweuene to it silf which thou hast seyn? Whether Y and thi modir, and thi britheren, schulen worschipe thee on erthe?
Ed egli lo raccontò a suo padre, e a' suoi fratelli. E suo padre lo sgridò, e gli disse: Quale [è] questo sogno che tu hai sognato? avremo noi, io, e tua madre, e i tuoi fratelli, pure a venire ad inchinarci a te a terra?
11 Therfor hise britheren hadden enuye to hym. Forsothe the fadir bihelde pryuely the thing,
E i suoi fratelli gli portavano invidia; ma suo padre riserbava [appo sè] queste parole.
12 and whanne his britheren dwelliden in Sichem, aboute flockis of the fadir `to be kept,
Or i suoi fratelli andarono a pasturar le gregge del padre loro in Sichem.
13 Israel seide to Joseph, Thi britheren kepen scheep in Sichymys; come thou, Y schal sende thee to hem.
Ed Israele disse a Giuseppe: I tuoi fratelli non pasturano essi in Sichem? Vieni, ed io ti manderò a loro. Ed egli disse: Eccomi.
14 And whanne Joseph answerde, Y am redi, Israel seide, Go thou, and se whether alle thingis ben esi anentis thi britheren, and scheep; and telle thou to me what is doon. He was sent fro the valey of Ebron, and cam into Sichem;
Ed esso gli disse: Or va', e vedi se i tuoi fratelli, e le gregge, stanno bene, e rapportamelo. Così lo mandò dalla valle di Hebron; ed egli venne in Sichem.
15 and a man foond hym errynge in the feeld, and `the man axide, what he souyte.
Ed un uomo lo trovò ch'egli andava errando per li campi; e quell'uomo lo domandò, e gli disse: Che cerchi?
16 And he answerde, Y seke my britheren, schewe thou to me where thei kepten flockis.
Ed egli disse: Io cerco i miei fratelli; deh! insegnami dove essi pasturano.
17 And the man seide to hym, Thei yeden awei fro this place; forsothe Y herde hem seiynge, Go we into Dothaym. And Joseph yede aftir his britheren, and foond hem in Dothaym.
E quell'uomo [gli] disse: Essi son partiti di qui; perciocchè io li udii che dicevano: Andamocene in Dotain. Giuseppe adunque andò dietro a' suoi fratelli, e li trovò in Dotain.
18 And whanne thei hadden seyn hym afer, bifor that he neiyede to hem,
Ed essi lo videro da lungi; ed avanti che si appressasse a loro, macchinarono contro a lui, per ucciderlo.
19 thei thouyten to sle hym, and spaken to gidere, Lo! the dremere cometh, come ye,
E dissero l'uno all'altro: Ecco cotesto sognatore viene.
20 sle we hym, and sende we into an eld sisterne, and we schulen seie, A wielde beeste ful wickid hath deuourid hym; and thanne it schal appere what hise dremes profiten to hym.
Ora dunque venite, ed uccidiamolo; e poi gittiamolo in una di queste fosse; e noi diremo che una mala bestia l'ha divorato; e vedremo che diverranno i suoi sogni.
21 Sotheli Ruben herde this, and enforside to delyuere hym fro her hondis,
Ma Ruben, udendo questo, lo riscosse dalle lor mani, e disse: Non percotiamolo a morte.
22 and seide, Sle we not the lijf of hym, nether schede we out his blood, but caste ye hym into an eeld cisterne, which is in the wildirnesse, and kepe ye youre hondis gilteles. Forsothe he seide this, willynge to delyuere hym fro her hondis, and to yelde to his fadir.
Ruben ancora disse loro: Non ispandete il sangue; gittatelo in quella fossa ch'[è] nel deserto, ma non gli mettete la mano addosso; per riscuoterlo dalle lor mani [e] per rimenarlo a suo padre.
23 Therfor anoon as Joseph cam to hise britheren, thei dispuyliden hym of the coote, doun to the heele, and of many colours, and senten into the eeld cisterne,
E, quando Giuseppe fu venuto a' suoi fratelli, essi lo spogliarono della sua giubba, di quella giubba vergata ch'egli [avea] indosso.
24 that hadde no water.
Poi lo presero, e lo gittarono in quella fossa: or la fossa [era] vota, [e] non [vi era] acqua alcuna dentro.
25 And thei saten `to ete breed; and thei sien that Ismaelitis weigoers camen fro Galaad, and that her camels baren swete smellynge spiceries, and `rosyn, and stacten, into Egipt.
Poi si assettarono per prender cibo, ed alzarono gli occhi, e videro una carovana d'Ismaeliti che veniva di Galaad, i cui cammelli erano carichi di cose preziose, di balsamo e di mirra; ed essi andavano per portar [quelle cose] in Egitto.
26 Therfor Judas seide to hise britheren, What schal it profite to vs, if we schulen sle oure brother, and schulen hide his blood?
E Giuda disse a' suoi fratelli: Che guadagno faremo, quando avremo ucciso il nostro fratello, ed avremo occultato il suo sangue?
27 It is betere that he be seeld to Ismalitis, and oure hondis be not defoulid, for he is oure brother and fleisch. The britheren assentiden to these wordis;
Venite, vendiamolo a costesti Ismaeliti, e non mettiamogli la mano addosso; perciocchè egli [è] nostro fratello, nostra carne. E i suoi fratelli [gli] acconsentirono.
28 and whanne marchauntis of Madian passiden forth, thei drowen hym out of the cisterne, and seelden hym to Ismaelitis, for thriytti platis of siluer; whiche ledden hym in to Egipt.
E come que' mercatanti Madianiti passavano, essi trassero e fecero salir Giuseppe fuor di quella fossa, e per venti [sicli] d'argento lo vendettero a quegl'Ismaeliti; ed essi lo menarono in Egitto.
29 And Ruben turnede ayen to the cisterne, and foond not the child;
Or Ruben tornò alla fossa, ed ecco, Giuseppe non v'[era] più; ed egli stracciò i suoi vestimenti.
30 and he to-rente his closis, and he yede to hise britheren, and seide, The child apperith not, and whidir schal Y go?
E tornò a' suoi fratelli, e disse: Il fanciullo non si trova; ed io, dove andrò io?
31 Forsothe thei token his coote, and dippiden in the blood of a kide, which thei hadden slayn; and senten men that baren to the fadir,
Ed essi presero la giubba di Giuseppe; e scannarono un becco, e tinsero quella col sangue.
32 and seiden, We han founde this coote, se, whether it is the coote of thi sone, ether nai.
E mandarono a portar quella giubba vergata al padre loro, ed a dirgli: Noi abbiam trovata questa [giubba: ] riconosci ora se [è] la giubba del tuo figliuolo, o no.
33 And whanne the fader hadde knowe it, he seide, It is the coote of my sone, a wielde beeste ful wickid hath ete hym, a beeste hath deuourid Joseph.
Ed egli la riconobbe, e disse: [Questa è] la giubba del mio figliuolo; una mala bestia l'ha divorato; Giuseppe per certo [è] stato lacerato.
34 And he to-rente his clothis, and he was clothid with an heire, and biweilide his sone in myche tyme.
E Giacobbe stracciò i suoi vestimenti, e si mise un sacco sopra i lombi, e fece cordoglio del suo figliuolo per molti giorni.
35 Sothely whanne hise fre children weren gaderid to gidere, that thei schulden peese the sorewe of the fadir, he nolde take counfort, but seide, Y schal go doun in to helle, and schal biweile my sone. And the while Jacob contynude in wepyng, (Sheol h7585)
E tutti i suoi figliuoli, e tutte le sue figliuole, si levarono per consolarlo; ma egli rifiutò di esser consolato, e disse: Certo io scenderò con cordoglio al mio figliuolo nel sepolcro. E suo padre lo pianse. (Sheol h7585)
36 Madianytis seelden Joseph into Egipt to Putifar, chast `and onest seruaunt of Farao, maistir of the chyualrie.
E que' Madianiti, [menato Giuseppe] in Egitto, lo vendettero a Potifarre, Eunuco di Faraone, Capitan delle guardie.
