Genesis 35
1 Yn the mene tyme the Lord spak to Jacob, Ryse thou, and stie to Bethel, and dwelle thou there, and make thou an auter to the Lord, that apperide to thee whanne thou fleddist Esau, thi brother.
Or Dieu dit à Jacob: Lève-toi, monte à Béthel, et demeure là, et y dresse un autel au [Dieu] Fort qui t'apparut, quand tu t'enfuyais de devant Esaü ton frère.
2 Forsothe Jacob seide, whanne al his hous was clepid to gidere, Caste ye a wei alien goddis, that ben `in the myddis of you, and be ye clensid, and chaunge ye youre clothis;
Et Jacob dit à sa famille, et à tous ceux qui étaient avec lui: Otez les Dieux des étrangers qui sont au milieu de vous, et vous purifiez, et changez de vêtements.
3 rise ye, and stie we into Bethel, that we make there an auter to the Lord, which herde me in the dai of my tribulacioun, and was felowe of my weie.
Et levons-nous, et montons à Béthel, et je ferai là un autel au [Dieu] Fort qui m'a répondu au jour de ma détresse, et qui a été avec moi dans le chemin où j'ai marché.
4 Therfor thei yauen to hym alle alien goddis which thei hadden, and eere ryngis, that weren in `the eeris of hem; and he deluyde tho vndur a `tre, clepid therubynte, which is bihynde the citee of Sichem.
Alors ils donnèrent à Jacob tous les Dieux des étrangers qu'ils avaient en leurs mains, et les bagues qui étaient à leurs oreilles, et il les cacha sous un chêne qui était auprès de Sichem.
5 And whanne thei yeden, drede assailide alle men by cumpas of the citee, and thei weren not hardi to pursue hem goynge a wei.
Puis ils partirent; et la frayeur de Dieu fut sur les villes des environs; tellement qu'ils ne poursuivirent point les enfants de Jacob.
6 Therfor Jacob cam to Lusa, which is in the lond of Canaan, bi `sire name Bethel, he and al his puple with hym.
Ainsi Jacob, et tout le peuple qui était avec lui, vint à Luz, qui est au pays de Canaan, laquelle est Béthel.
7 And he bildide there an auter to the Lord, and clepide the name of that place The hows of God, for God apperide there to hym, whanne he fledde his brothir.
Et il y bâtit un autel, et nomma ce lieu-là, le [Dieu] Fort de Béthel; car Dieu lui était apparu là, quand il s'enfuyait de devant son frère.
8 Delbora, the nurische of Rebecca, diede in the same tyme, and sche was biried at the roote of Bethel, vndir an ook, and the name of the place was clepid The ook of wepyng.
Alors mourut Débora, la nourrice de Rébecca, et elle fut ensevelie au-dessous de Béthel sous un chêne, qui fut appelé Allon-bacuth.
9 Forsothe God apperide eft to Jacob, aftir that he turnede ayen fro Mesopotanye of Sirie, and cam into Bethel, and blesside hym,
Dieu apparut encore à Jacob, quand il venait de Paddan-Aram, et le bénit,
10 and seide, Thou schalt no more be clepid Jacob, but Israel schal be thi name. And God clepide hym Israel, and seide to hym,
Et lui dit: Ton nom est Jacob; mais tu ne seras plus nommé Jacob, car ton nom [sera] Israël; et il le nomma Israël.
11 Y am God Almyyti, encreesse thou, and be thou multiplied, folkis and puplis of naciouns schulen be of thee, kyngis schulen go out of thi leendis;
Dieu lui dit aussi: Je suis le [Dieu] Fort, Tout-Puissant: augmente, et multiplie: une nation, même une multitude de nations naîtra de toi, même des Rois sortiront de tes reins;
12 and Y shal yyue to thee, and to thi seed after thee, the lond which Y yaf to Abraham, and Ysaac.
Et je te donnerai le pays que j'ai donné à Abraham et à Isaac, et je le donnerai à ta postérité après toi.
13 And God departide fro hym.
Et Dieu remonta d'avec lui du lieu où il lui avait parlé.
14 Forsothe Jacob reiside a title ether memorial of stoonys, in the place where ynne God spak to hym, and he sacrifiede ther onne fletynge sacrifices, and schedde out oile,
Et Jacob dressa un monument au lieu où [Dieu] lui avait parlé, [savoir] une pierre pour monument, et il répandit dessus une aspersion, et y versa de l'huile.
15 and clepide the name of that place Bethel.
Jacob donc nomma le lieu où Dieu lui avait parlé, Béthel.
16 Forsothe Jacob yede out fro thennus, and cam in the bigynnynge of somer to the lond that ledith to Effrata; in which lond whanne Rachel trauelide in child beryng,
Puis ils partirent de Béthel, et il y avait encore quelque petit espace de pays pour arriver à Ephrat, lorsque Rachel accoucha, et elle fut dans un grand travail.
17 sche bigan to be in perel for the hardnesse of childberyng; and the medewijf seide to hir, Nyle thou drede, for thou schalt haue also this sone.
Et comme elle avait beaucoup de peine à accoucher, la sage-femme lui dit: Ne crains point; car tu as encore ici un fils.
18 Forsothe while the soule yede out for sorew, and deeth neiyede thanne, she clepide the name of hir sone Bennony, that is, the sone of my sorewe; forsothe the fadir clepide hym Beniamyn, that is the sone of the riyt side.
Et comme elle rendait l'âme, (car elle mourut, ) elle nomma l'enfant Bénoni; mais son père le nomma Benjamin.
19 Therfor Rachel diede, and was biriede in the weie that ledith to Effrata, this is Bethleem.
C'est ainsi que mourut Rachel, et elle fut ensevelie au chemin d'Ephrat, qui est Bethléhem.
20 And Jacob bildide a title on the sepulcre of hir; this is the title of biriel of Rachel `til into present dai.
Et Jacob dressa un monument sur son sépulcre. C'est le monument du sépulcre de Rachel [qui subsiste] encore aujourd'hui.
21 Jacob yede fro thennus, and settide tabernacle ouer the tour of the flok.
Puis Israël partit, et dressa ses tentes au-delà de Migdal-Héder.
22 And while he dwellide in that cuntrei, Ruben yede, and slepte with Bala, the secundarie wijf of his fadir, which thing was not hid fro hym. Forsothe the sones of Jacob weren twelue;
Et il arriva que quand Israël demeurait en ce pays-là, Ruben vint, et coucha avec Bilha, concubine de son père; et Israël l'apprit. Or Jacob avait douze fils.
23 the sones of Lia weren, the firste gendrid Ruben, and Symeon, and Leuy, and Judas, and Isachar, and Zabulon;
Les fils de Léa étaient Ruben, premier-né de Jacob, Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issacar, et Zabulon.
24 the sones of Rachel weren, Joseph and Beniamyn;
Les fils de Rachel, Joseph et Benjamin.
25 the sones of Bala, handmayde of Rachel, weren Dan, and Neptalym;
Les fils de Bilha, servante de Rachel, Dan, et Nephthali.
26 the sones of Zelfa, handmayde of Lya, weren Gad, and Aser. These weren the sones of Jacob, that weren borun to hym in Mesopotanye of Sirie.
Les fils de Zilpa, servante de Léa, Gad et Aser. Ce sont là les enfants de Jacob, qui lui naquirent en Paddan-Aram.
27 Also Jacob came to Isaac, his fadir, in to Manbre, a citee Arabee, this is Ebron, in which Manbre Abraham `and Isaac was a pylgrym.
Et Jacob vint vers Isaac son père [en la plaine de] Mamré à Kirjath-arbah, [qui] est Hébron, où Abraham et Isaac avaient demeuré comme étrangers.
28 And the daies of Isaac weren fillid an hundrid and foure scoore of yeris;
Et le temps qu'Isaac vécut, fut cent quatre-vingts ans.
29 and he was wastid in age, and diede, and he was put to his puple, and was eeld, and ful of daies; and Esau and Jacob his sones birieden hym.
Ainsi Isaac défaillant mourut, et fut recueilli avec ses peuples, âgé et rassasié de jours; et Esaü et Jacob ses fils l'ensevelirent.
