Genesis 34
1 Forsothe Dyna, the douytir of Lya, yede out to se the wymmen of that cuntrey.
लियाह की पुत्री दीनाह उस देश की लड़कियों के साथ स्त्रियों को देखने के लिए बाहर गई.
2 And whanne Sichem, the sone of Emor Euey, the prince of that lond, hadde seyn hir, he louede hir, and rauyschide, and sclepte with hir, and oppresside the virgyn bi violence.
उस देश के शासक हिव्वी हामोर के पुत्र शेकेम ने उसे देखा, वह उसे अपने साथ ले गया उसने उसे पकड़ लिया और उसने उसके साथ बलात्कार किया.
3 And his soule was boundun faste with hir, and he pleside hir sory with flateringis.
याकोब की पुत्री दीनाह से उसे प्रेम था और उसके प्रति उसका व्यवहार अच्छा था.
4 And he yede to Emor,
शेकेम ने अपने पिता हामोर से कहा, “मेरा विवाह इस युवती से कर दीजिए.”
5 his fadir, and seide, Take to me this damysel a wijf. And whanne Jacob hadde herd this thing, while the sones weren absent, and ocupied in the fedyng of scheep, he was stille, til thei camen ayen.
जब याकोब को पता चला कि शेकेम ने उनकी पुत्री को दूषित कर दिया है, उस समय उनके पुत्र पशुओं के साथ मैदान में थे; इसलिये याकोब उनके लौटने तक शांत रहे.
6 Sotheli whanne Emor, the fadir of Sichem, was gon out, `that he schulde speke to Jacob, lo!
इसी समय शेकेम का पिता हामोर याकोब से मिलने आये.
7 hise sones camen fro the feeld. And whanne this thing that bifelde was herd, thei weren wroothe greetli; for he wrouyte a foul thing in Israel, and he hadde do a thing vnleueful in the defoulyng of the douyter of Jacob.
जब याकोब के पुत्र लौटे और उन्हें सब बात पता चली तब वे बहुत उदास और नाराज हुए, क्योंकि उसने याकोब की पुत्री से संभोग द्वारा इस्राएल में मूर्खता का काम कर डाला था, एक ऐसा काम, जो अनुचित था.
8 And so Emor spak to hem, The soule of my sone Sichem cleuyde to youre douytir, yeue ye hir a wijf to hym,
किंतु हामोर ने उनसे कहा, “मेरा पुत्र शेकेम आपकी पुत्री को चाहता है. कृपया उसका विवाह मेरे पुत्र से कर दीजिए.
9 and ioyne we weddyngis to gidere; yyue ye youre douytris to vs,
हमारे साथ वैवाहिक संबंध बना लीजिए आप हमें अपनी पुत्रियां दीजिए और आप हमारी पुत्रियां लीजिए.
10 and take ye oure douytris, and dwelle ye with vs; the lond is in youre power, tile ye, make ye marchaundise, and welde ye it.
इस प्रकार आप हमारे साथ इस देश में मिलकर रह पायेंगे. आप इस देश में रहिये, व्यवसाय कीजिए तथा संपत्ति प्राप्त करते जाइए.”
11 But also Sichem seide to the fadir and britheren of hir, Fynde Y grace bifor you, and what euer thingis ye ordeynen Y schal yyue;
शेकेम ने दीनाह के पिता तथा उसके भाइयों से यह भी कहा, “यदि मैंने आपकी कृपादृष्टि प्राप्त कर ली है, तो आप अपने मन की बात कह दीजिए कि मैं उसे पूरा कर सकूं.
12 encreesse ye the dower, and axe ye yiftis, Y schal yyue wilfull that that ye axen; oonli yyue ye this damysele a wijf to me.
आप वधू के लिए जो भी मांगेंगे उसे मैं पूरा करूंगा. किंतु मेरा विवाह उसी युवती से कीजिए.”
13 The sones of Jacob answeriden in gile to Sichem and his fadir, and weren feerse for the defoulyng of maidenhod of the sistir,
तब याकोब के पुत्रों ने शेकेम को तथा उसके पिता हामोर को छलपूर्ण उत्तर दिया, क्योंकि शेकेम ने उनकी बहन दीनाह को दूषित कर दिया था.
14 We moun not do this that ye axen, nether we moun yyue oure sistir to a man vncircumcidid, which thing is vnleueful and abhomynable anentis vs.
उन्होंने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “यह हमारे लिए संभव नहीं है कि हम किसी ख़तना रहित को अपनी बहन दे सकें. क्योंकि यह हमारे लिए शर्मनाक है.
15 But in this we schulen mowe be boundun in pees, if ye wole be lijk vs, and ech of male kynde be circumcidid in you,
एक ही शर्त पर यह बात हो सकती है: आपके देश के हर एक पुरुष का ख़तना किया जाए, ताकि आप हमारे समान हो जाएं.
16 thanne we schulen yyue and take togidre oure douytris and youre; and we schulen dwelle with you, and we schulen be o puple.
तब हममें पुत्रियों का लेना देना हो सकेगा और हम आपके बीच रह सकेंगे, और हम एक ही लोग बन जाएंगे.
17 Forsothe if ye nylen be circumcidid, we schulen take oure douytir, and schulen go a wei.
यदि आपको हमारी बात सही नहीं लगी, तो हम अपनी पुत्री को लेकर यहां से चले जाएंगे.”
18 The profryng of hem pleside Emor and Sichem,
उनकी यह बात हामोर तथा उसके पुत्र शेकेम को पसंद आई.
19 his sone, and the yong wexynge man dilaiede not, that ne he fillide anoon that that was axid, for he louede the damysele greetli, and he was noble in al `the hous of his fadir.
याकोब की पुत्री शेकेम को बहुत पसंद थी कि उसने इस काम को करने में देरी नहीं की. अपने पिता के परिवार में वह सम्मानित व्यक्ति था.
20 And thei entriden in to the yate of the citee, and spaken to the puple,
इसलिये हामोर एवं उसके पुत्र शेकेम ने नगर में जाकर नगर के सब लोगों से कहा,
21 These men ben pesible, and wolen dwelle with vs; make thei marchaundie in the loond, and tile thei it, which is large and brood, and hath nede to tileris; we schulen take her douytris to wyues, and we schulen yyue oure douytris to hem.
“ये लोग हमारे साथ हैं, इसलिये हम इन्हें इस देश में रहने देंगे, इनके साथ व्यापार करेंगे, क्योंकि हमारा देश इनके लिए पर्याप्त है. हम इनकी कन्याएं लें तथा अपनी कन्याएं इन्हें दे.
22 O thing is, for which so greet good is dilaied; if we circumciden oure malis, and suen the custom of the folc,
ये एक ही शर्त पर हमारे साथ रहने के लिए सहमत हुए हैं, कि हम सभी पुरुषों का ख़तना किया जाए, जैसा उनका किया जाता है कि हम सभी एक हो जाएं.
23 bothe her substaunce, and scheep, and alle thingis which thei welden, schulen be oure; oneli assente we in this, that we dwelle to gidere, and make o puple.
तब इनका पशु धन, इनकी संपत्ति तथा इनके समस्त पशु हमारे ही तो हो जाएंगे न? बस, हम उनसे यहां सहमत हो जाएं, कि वे हमारे साथ ही निवास करने लगें.”
24 And alle men assentiden, and alle malis weren circumcidid.
उन सभी ने, जो नगर से निकल रहे थे, हामोर तथा उसके पुत्र शेकेम की बात मान ली. उस नगर द्वार से बाहर निकलते हुए हर एक पुरुष का ख़तना कर दिया गया.
25 And lo! in the thridde day, whanne the sorewe of woundis was moost greuous, twei sones of acob, Symeon and Leuy, britheren of Dyna, token swerdis, and entriden in to the citee booldeli; and whanne alle malis weren slayn,
तीन दिन बाद, जब नगर का हर एक पुरुष पीड़ा में था, याकोब के दोनों बेटे शिमओन और लेवी ने, जो दीनाह के भाई थे, अचानक हमला कर दिया तथा हर एक पुरुष की हत्या कर दी.
26 thei killiden Emor and Sichem togidere, and token Dyna, her sistir, fro the hous of Sichem.
उन्होंने तलवार से हामोर तथा उसके पुत्र शेकेम की हत्या की और शेकेम के घर से दीनाह को लेकर आये.
27 And whanne thei weren goon out, othere sones of Jacob felden in on the slayn men, and rifeliden the citee for the veniaunce of defoulyng of a virgyn.
और याकोब के अन्य पुत्रों ने नगर को लूट लिया, क्योंकि उन्होंने उनकी बहन को दूषित कर दिया था.
28 And thei wastiden the scheep of tho men, and droues of oxun, and assis, and alle thingis that weren in howsis and feeldis,
उन्होंने नगर के लोग भेड़-बकरी, उनके पशु, गधे, नगर में जो कुछ उनका था जो कुछ खेतों में था, सभी कुछ ले लिया.
29 and ledden prisoneris the litle children, and wyues of tho men.
उन्होंने उनकी पूरी संपत्ति पर अधिकार करके उसे लूट लिया, यहां तक कि उन्होंने उनकी पत्नियों एवं उनके बालकों को बंदी बनाकर सभी कुछ, जो उनके घरों में था, लूट लिया.
30 And whanne these thingis weren don hardili, Jacob seide to Symeon and Leuy, Ye han troblid me, and han maad me hateful to Cananeis and Fereseis, dwellers of this lond; we ben fewe, thei schulen be gaderid to gidere and schulen sle me, and Y schal be don a wey and myn hous.
यह सब देख याकोब ने शिमओन तथा लेवी से कहा, “तुमने तो मुझे इन देशवासियों के लिए दुश्मन बनाकर कनानियों एवं परिज्ज़ियों के बीच विपत्ति में डाल दिया है. यदि वे सब एकजुट होकर मुझ पर आक्रमण कर देंगे, तो मैं नष्ट हो जाऊंगा, मैं और मेरा संपूर्ण परिवार, क्योंकि हम गिनती में कम हैं.”
31 Symeon and Leuy answeriden, Whether thei ouyten mysuse oure sistir as an hoore?
उन्होंने कहा, “क्या हमारी बहन से उन्होंने जो एक वेश्या के समान बर्ताव किया; क्या वह सही था?”
