Genesis 33
1 Forsothe Jacob reiside hise iyen, and seiy Esau comynge, and foure hundrid men with hym; and he departide the sones of Lia, and of Rachel, and of bothe seruauntessis.
Ngước mặt lên, Gia-cốp thấy Ê-sau chỉ huy lực lượng 400 người tiến đến. Gia-cốp lập tức chia đàn con cho Lê-a, Ra-chên, và hai nữ tì.
2 And he puttide euer either handmaide, and the fre children of hem, in the bigynnyng; sotheli he puttide Lia, and her sones, in the secounde place; forsothe he puttide Rachel and Joseph the laste.
Hai nữ tì dẫn con họ đi trước, kế đến là Lê-a và sáu con; Ra-chên và Giô-sép đi sau cùng.
3 And Jacob yede bifore, and worschipide lowli to erthe seuensithis, til his brothir neiyede.
Gia-cốp vượt lên trước vợ con để đón Ê-sau và cúi rạp xuống đất bảy lần trước mặt anh mình.
4 And so Esau ran ayens his brothir, and collide hym, and Esau helde his necke, and kisside, and wepte.
Ê-sau chạy đến ôm choàng Gia-cốp và bá lấy cổ mà hôn. Hai anh em đều khóc.
5 And whanne the iyen weren reisid, he seiy the wymmen, and the litle children of hem, and seide, What wolen these to hem silf? and wher thei pertenen to thee? Jacob answeride, Thei ben the litle children, whiche God hath youe to me, thi seruaunt.
Thấy vợ con Gia-cốp tiến đến, Ê-sau hỏi: “Những người đi theo em đó là ai?” Gia-cốp đáp: “Đó là con cái Chúa đã cho em.”
6 And the handmaydis and her sones neiyeden, and weren bowid.
Hai nữ tì dẫn đàn con đến cúi xuống chào Ê-sau,
7 Also Lya neiyede with hir fre children; and whanne thei hadden worschipid in lijk maner, Joseph and Rachel the laste worschipeden.
kế đến là Lê-a và các con, sau hết là Ra-chên và Giô-sép.
8 And Esau seide, What ben these cumpanyes, whiche Y mette? Jacob answerde, That Y schulde fynde grace bifore my lord.
Ê-sau hỏi: “Các bầy súc vật đó em định làm gì?” Gia-cốp đáp: “Em xin kính dâng cho anh để anh rủ lòng thương.”
9 And he seide, My brother, Y haue ful many thingis, thi thingis be to thee.
Ê-sau từ khước: “Anh có đủ tài sản rồi; em cứ giữ các bầy súc vật đó.”
10 And Jacob seide, Y biseche, nyle thou so, but if Y foond grace in thin iyen, take thou a litil yifte of myn hondis; for Y seiy so thi face as I seiy the cheer of God;
Gia-cốp khẩn khoản: “Không, em nài xin anh vui lòng nhận các lễ vật ấy. Vì gặp được anh cũng như gặp được Đức Chúa Trời rồi; anh đã vui lòng tiếp đón em.
11 be thou merciful to me, and resseyue the blessyng which Y brouyte to thee, and which blessyng God yyuynge alle thingis yaf to me. Vnnethis, while the brothir compellide,
Xin anh nhận lễ vật em dâng hiến, vì Đức Chúa Trời đã hậu đãi em và cho em đầy đủ mọi thứ.” Gia-cốp nài nỉ mãi cho đến khi Ê-sau nhận các lễ vật ấy.
12 he resseyuede, and seide, Go we to gidere, and Y schal be felowe of thi weie.
Ê-sau nói: “Này, anh em ta hãy lên đường; anh sẽ hộ tống em.”
13 And Jacob seide, My lord, thou knowist that Y haue litle children tendre, and scheep, and kien with calue with me, and if Y schal make hem for to trauele more in goynge, alle the flockis schulen die in o dai;
Gia-cốp đáp: “Anh biết đám trẻ con còn yếu; bầy chiên và bò có nhiều con đang bú. Nếu ép đi nhanh, chắc chỉ một ngày là chúng bỏ mạng.
14 my lord go bifore his seruaunt, and Y schal sue litil and litil hise steppis, as I shal se that my litle children mown, til Y come to my lord, in to Seir.
Xin anh cứ đi trước, còn em sẽ chậm rãi theo sau, đi cho vừa sức của trẻ con và thú vật đang bú, cho đến chừng tới nhà anh trên núi Sê-i-rơ.”
15 Esau answeride, Y preie thee, that of the puple which is with me, nameli felowis of thi weie dwelle. Jacob seide, It is no nede; Y haue nede to this o thing oneli, that Y fynde grace in thi siyt, my lord.
Ê-sau lại nói: “Để anh bảo người ở lại dẫn đường cho em.” Gia-cốp từ khước: “Không cần, anh ạ. Anh đã tỏ lòng thương em là quý lắm rồi.”
16 And so Esau turnede ayen in that dai in the weie bi which he cam, in to Seir.
Ngay hôm ấy, Ê-sau quay về núi Sê-i-rơ.
17 And Jacob cam in to Sochot, where whanne he hadde bildid an hows, and hadde set tentis, he clepide the name of that place Sochot, that is, tabernaclis.
Còn Gia-cốp đến Su-cốt, hạ trại, và dựng lều cho các bầy súc vật. Từ đó, người ta gọi địa điểm này là Su-cốt (nghĩa là nhà lều).
18 And Jacob passide in to Salem, a citee of Sichimis, whiche is in the lond of Canaan, aftir that he turnede ayen fro Mesopotanye of Sirie, and he dwellide besidis the citee.
Kể từ ngày lìa xứ Pha-đan A-ram, Gia-cốp đi đường bình an đến xứ Ca-na-an, và hạ trại trước thành phố Si-chem.
19 And he bouyte for an hundrid lambren a part of the feeld, in which he settide tabernaclis, of the sones of Emor, fadir of Sichem.
Gia-cốp mua một miếng đất của anh em Si-chem, các con trai của Hê-mô, để cắm trại.
20 And whanne he hadde reisid an auter there, he inwardly clepide on it the strongeste God of Israel.
Gia-cốp lập một bàn thờ tại Si-chem và đặt tên bàn thờ là Ên-ên-ô-hê, tức là Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên.
