Genesis 29
1 Therfor Jacob passide forth, and cam in to the eest lond;
Pea toe ʻalu ʻa Sēkope ʻi hono fononga, pea naʻe haʻu ia ki he fonua ʻoe kakai hahake.
2 and seiy a pit in the feeld, and thre flockis of scheep restynge bisidis it, for whi scheep weren watrid therof, and the mouth therof was closid with a greet stoon.
Pea sio ia, pea ne ʻilo ʻae vai ʻi he ngoue, pea vakai, naʻe ai ʻae vāhenga fanga sipi ʻe tolu, naʻe tokoto ʻo ofi ki ai, he naʻe fakainu ʻae fanga manu mei he vai ko ia: pea naʻe tāpuni ʻaki ʻae ngutu vai ʻae fuʻu maka lahi.
3 And the custom was that whanne alle scheep weren gaderid togidere, thei schulden turne awei the stoon, and whanne the flockis weren fillid thei schulden put it eft on the mouth of the pit.
Pea naʻe fakataha ki ai ʻae ngaahi vāhenga sipi kotoa pē: pea nau filifilihi ʻae maka mei he ngutu vai, pea fakainu ʻae fanga sipi, pea naʻe toe ai ʻae maka ki hono potu, ki he ngutu vai.
4 And Jacob seide to the scheepherdis, Brithren, of whennus ben ye? Whiche answeriden, Of Aran.
Pea pehē ʻe Sēkope kiate kinautolu, “Kāinga, ʻoku mei fē ʻakinautolu?” Pea nau pehē, “Ko e kau Halani ʻakimautolu.”
5 And he axide hem and seide, Wher ye knowen Laban, the sone of Nachor? Thei seiden, We knowen.
Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “ʻOku mou ʻilo ʻa Lepani, ko e foha ʻo Nehoa?” Pea naʻa nau pehē, “ʻOku mau ʻilo ia.”
6 Jacob seide, Is he hool? Thei seiden, He is in good staat; and lo! Rachel, his douytir, cometh with his flok.
Pea pehēange ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “ʻOku moʻui ia?” Pea nau pehēange, “ʻOku mālōlō pe: pea vakai, ko Lesieli ko hono ʻofefine, ʻoku haʻu mo e fanga sipi.”
7 And Jacob seide, Yit myche of the dai is to come, and it is not tyme that the flockis be led ayen to the fooldis; sotheli yyue ye drynk to the scheep, and so lede ye hem ayen to mete.
Pea pehē ʻe ia, “Vakai, ʻoku kei hoʻatā pe, pea ʻoku teʻeki ai hokosia ʻae feituʻulaʻā ke fakataha ai ʻae fanga manu: ko ia mou fakainu ʻae fanga sipi, pea ʻalu ʻo fafanga.”
8 Whiche answeriden, We moun not til alle scheep be gederid to gidere, and til we remouen the stoon fro the mouth of the pit to watir the flockis.
Pea naʻa nau pehē, “ʻOku ʻikai te mau faʻa fai, kaeʻoua ke fakataha mai ʻae vāhenga sipi kotoa pē, pea ʻoua ke filifilihi ʻae maka mei he ngutu vai; pea te mau toki fakainu ʻae fanga sipi.”
9 Yit thei spaken, and lo! Rachel cam with the scheep of hir fadir.
Pea lolotonga ʻenau alea mo e haʻu ʻa Lesieli mo e fanga sipi ʻa ʻene tamai, he naʻa ne tauhi ki ai.
10 And whanne Jacob seiy hir, and knewe the douytir of his modris brothir, and the scheep of Laban his vncle, he remeuyde the stoon with which the pit was closid;
Pea ʻi he mamata ʻa Sēkope kia Lesieli ko e ʻofefine ʻo Lepani, ko e tuongaʻane ʻo ʻene faʻē, mo e fanga sipi ʻa Lepani, ko e tuongaʻane ʻo ʻene faʻē, naʻe ʻunuʻunu atu ʻa Sēkope ʻo ne tekaʻi ʻae maka mei he ngutu vai, pea ne fakainu ʻae fanga sipi ʻa Lepani, ko e tuongaʻane ʻo ʻene faʻē.
11 and whanne the flok was watrid, he kisside hir, and he wepte with `vois reisid.
Pea uma ʻa Sēkope kia Lesieli, pea hiki hake hono leʻo, pea tangi.
12 And he schewide to hir that he was the brothir of hir fadir, and the sone of Rebecca; and sche hastide, and telde to hir fadir.
Pea talaange ʻe Sēkope kia Lesieli, “Ko e kāinga ia ʻo ʻene tamai, pea ko e tama ia ʻa Lepeka:” pea naʻe lele ia ʻo fakahā ki heʻene tamai.
13 And whanne he hadde herd, that Jacob, the sone of his sistir, cam, he ran ayens hym, and he biclippide Jacob and kisside hym, and ledde in to his hows. Forsothe whanne the causis of the iurney weren herd,

14 Laban answeride, Thou art my boon and my fleisch. And aftir that the daies of o moneth weren fillid, Laban seide to him,
Pea pehē ʻe Lepani kiate ia, Ko e moʻoni ko hoku hui koe, mo hoku kakano. Pea naʻa ne nofo kiate ia ʻi he māhina ʻe taha.
15 `Whethir for thou art my brothir, thou schalt serue me frely? seie thou what mede thou schalt take.
Pea pehē ʻe Lepani kia Sēkope, “He ʻoku totonu koā ke ke ngāue kiate au taʻehatotongi koeʻuhi ko hoku kāinga koe? Tala mai, ko e hā ʻae totongi ʻe fai kiate koe?”
16 Forsothe Laban hadde twei douytris, the name of the more was Lya, sotheli the lesse was clepid Rachel;
Pea naʻe toko ua ʻae ʻofefine ʻo Lepani; ko e hingoa ʻoe ʻuluaki ko Lia, pea ko e hingoa ʻoe kimui ko Lesieli.
17 but Lya was blere iyed, Rachel was of fair face, and semeli in siyt.
Naʻe mata kuikui ʻa Lia, ka naʻe hoihoifua ʻa Lesieli, mo matamatalelei.
18 And Jacob louede Rachel, and seide, Y schal serue thee seuene yeer for Rachel thi lesse douytir.
Pea naʻe ʻofa ʻa Sēkope kia Lesieli, pea ne pehē, “Te u tauhi ko e ʻi he taʻu ʻe fitu, ka ke tuku mai ʻa Lesieli, ko ho ʻofefine kimui.”
19 Laban answeride, It is betere that Y yyue hir to thee than to anothir man; dwelle thou at me.
Pea pehē ʻe Lepani, “ʻOku lelei lahi ʻeku foaki ia kiate koe, ʻi heʻeku foaki ia ki ha tangata kehe: ke ta nonofo mo au.”
20 Therfor Jacob seruyde seuene yeer for Rachel; and the daies semyden fewe to hym for the greetnesse of loue.
Pea naʻe ngāue ʻa Sēkope ʻi he taʻu ʻe fitu, ke ne maʻu ʻa Lesieli; pea naʻe tatau ia kiate ia mo e ʻaho siʻi pe, koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻofa lahi kiate ia.
21 And he seide to Laban, Yyue thou my wijf to me, for the tyme is fillid that Y entre to hir.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sēkope kia Lepani, “Tuku mai hoku uaifi koeʻuhi ke u ʻalu atu kiate ia, he kuo kakato ʻa hoku ngaahi ʻaho.”
22 And whanne many cumpenyes of freendis weren clepid to the feeste, he made weddyngis,
Pea fakataha ʻe Lepani ʻae kau tangata kotoa pē ʻoe potu, pea ne fai ʻae kātoanga.
23 and in the euentid Laban brouyte in to hym Lya his douytir,
Pea ʻi heʻene hoko ki he pō, naʻa ne ʻave hono ʻofefine ko Lia, ʻo ne ʻomi ia kiate ia; pea ʻalu ia kiate ia.
24 and yaf an handmaide, Selfa bi name, to the douyter. And whanne Jacob hadde entrid to hir bi custom, whanne the morewtid was maad, he seiy Lya,
Pea ne foaki ki hono ʻofefine ko Lia, ʻa ʻene kaunanga ko Silipa, ke kaunanga [kiate ia].
25 and seide to his wyues fadir, What is it that thou woldist do? wher Y seruede not thee for Rachel? whi hast thou disseyued me?
Pea pongipongi hake ai, pea vakai, pea tā ko Lia ia: pea pehē ʻe ia kia Lepani, “Ko e hā eni kuo ke fai kiate au? ʻIkai naʻaku ngāue kiate koe koeʻuhi ko Lesieli? Pea ko e hā kuo ke kākaaʻi ai au?”
26 Laban answerde, It is not custom in oure place that we yyue first the `lesse douytris to weddyngis;
Pea pehē ʻe Lepani, “E ʻikai fai ha meʻa pehē ʻi homau fonua, ke tomuʻa foaki ʻae kimui ʻi he ʻuluaki.
27 fille thou the wouke of daies of this couplyng, and Y schal yyue to thee also this Rachel, for the werk in which thou schalt serue me bi othere seuene yeer.
Ka ke fakakakato ʻa hono uike, pea te mau foaki ia foki kiate koe, ʻoka ke ka toe ngāue kiate au, ʻi ha taʻu ʻe fitu kehe.”
28 Jacob assentide to the couenaunt, and whanne the wouke was passid,
Pea naʻe fai ia ʻe Sēkope; ʻo ne fakakakato hono uike: pea ne foaki kiate ia hono ʻofefine ko Lesieli, ko hono uaifi foki.
29 he weddide Rachel, to whom the fadir hadde youe Bala seruauntesse.
Pea foaki ʻe Lepani ki hono ʻofefine ko Lesieli ʻa Pila, ko ʻene kaunanga, ke kaunanga kiate ia.
30 And at the laste he vside the weddyngis desirid, and settide the loue of the `wijf suynge bifore the former; and he seruede at Laban seuene othere yeer.
Pea naʻe ʻalu ʻa Sēkope kia Lesieli, pea ʻofa lahi hake ʻe ia kia Lesieli ia Lia, pea naʻa ne toe ngāue kiate ia ʻi he taʻu ʻe fitu.
31 Forsothe the Lord seiy that he dispiside Lya, and openyde hir wombe while the sistir dwellide bareyn.
Pea ʻafioʻi ʻe Sihova kuo fehiʻanekina ʻa Lia, pea naʻa ne ngaohi ia ke faʻa fānau; ka naʻe paʻa ʻa Lesieli.
32 And Lia childide a sone conseyued, and clepide his name Ruben, and seide, The Lord seiy my mekenesse; now myn hosebonde schal loue me.
Pea feitama ʻa Lia, pea ne fāʻeleʻi ʻae tama, pea ui hono hingoa ko Lupeni; he naʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Ko e moʻoni kuo ʻafioʻi ʻe Sihova ʻeku mamahi; pea ko eni ʻe ʻofa hoku husepāniti kiate au.”
33 And eft sche conseyuede, `and childide a sone, and seide, For the Lord seiy that Y was dispisid, he yaf also this sone to me; and sche clepide his name Symeon.
Pea naʻe toe feitama ia pea fāʻeleʻi ʻae tama: ʻo ne pehē, “He kuo fanongo ʻa Sihova kuo fehiʻanekina au, ko ia kuo ne foaki kiate au ʻae tama ni foki: pea ne ui hono hingoa ko Simione.”
34 And sche conseyuede the thridde tyme, and childide anothir sone, and she seide also, Now myn hosebonde schal be couplid to me, for Y childide thre sones to him; and therfor sche clepide his name Leuy.
Pea toe feitama ia, pea fāʻeleʻi ʻae tama: pea pehē ʻe ia; “Ko eni ʻe tokanga hoku husepāniti kiate au ʻi he kuonga ni, koeʻuhi kuo u fanauʻi kiate ia ʻae tama ʻe toko tolu; ko ia naʻe ui ai hono hingoa ko Livai.”
35 The fourthe tyme sche conseyuede, and childide a sone, and seide, Now I schal knouleche to the Lord; and herfor she clepide his name Judas; and ceesside to childe.
Pea toe feitama ia, pea fāʻeleʻi ʻae tama: pea pehē ʻe ia, Ko eni te u fakafetaʻi kia Sihova: ko ia naʻa ne ui hono hingoa ko Siuta: pea naʻe ngata ai ʻene fānau.
