Genesis 29
1 Therfor Jacob passide forth, and cam in to the eest lond;
Apoi Iacob a mers în călătoria sa şi a mers în ţara poporului din est.
2 and seiy a pit in the feeld, and thre flockis of scheep restynge bisidis it, for whi scheep weren watrid therof, and the mouth therof was closid with a greet stoon.
Şi a privit şi, iată, o fântână în câmp şi, iată, acolo erau trei turme de oi culcate lângă ea; căci din acea fântână adăpau turmele; şi o piatră mare era peste gura fântânii.
3 And the custom was that whanne alle scheep weren gaderid togidere, thei schulden turne awei the stoon, and whanne the flockis weren fillid thei schulden put it eft on the mouth of the pit.
Şi acolo erau toate turmele adunate şi au rostogolit piatra de la gura fântânii şi au adăpat oile şi au pus piatra din nou peste gura fântânii la locul ei.
4 And Jacob seide to the scheepherdis, Brithren, of whennus ben ye? Whiche answeriden, Of Aran.
Şi Iacob le-a spus: Fraţii mei, de unde sunteţi voi? Iar ei au spus: Noi suntem din Haran.
5 And he axide hem and seide, Wher ye knowen Laban, the sone of Nachor? Thei seiden, We knowen.
Iar el le-a spus: Îl cunoaşteţi pe Laban, fiul lui Nahor? Iar ei au spus: Îl cunoaştem.
6 Jacob seide, Is he hool? Thei seiden, He is in good staat; and lo! Rachel, his douytir, cometh with his flok.
Iar el le-a spus: Este el bine? Iar ei au spus: Este bine şi, iată, Rahela, fiica lui, vine cu oile.
7 And Jacob seide, Yit myche of the dai is to come, and it is not tyme that the flockis be led ayen to the fooldis; sotheli yyue ye drynk to the scheep, and so lede ye hem ayen to mete.
Iar el a spus: Iată, ziua este încă mare, nici nu este timpul ca vitele să fie adunate; adăpaţi oile şi mergeţi şi le paşteţi.
8 Whiche answeriden, We moun not til alle scheep be gederid to gidere, and til we remouen the stoon fro the mouth of the pit to watir the flockis.
Iar ei au spus: Nu putem, până când toate turmele sunt adunate şi când ei rostogolesc piatra de la gura fântânii, atunci adăpăm oile.
9 Yit thei spaken, and lo! Rachel cam with the scheep of hir fadir.
Şi în timp ce el încă vorbea cu ei, Rahela a venit cu oile tatălui ei, pentru că ea le păzea.
10 And whanne Jacob seiy hir, and knewe the douytir of his modris brothir, and the scheep of Laban his vncle, he remeuyde the stoon with which the pit was closid;
Şi s-a întâmplat, când Iacob a văzut-o pe Rahela, fiica lui Laban, fratele mamei sale, şi oile lui Laban, fratele mamei sale, că Iacob s-a apropiat şi a rostogolit piatra de la gura fântânii şi a adăpat turma lui Laban, fratele mamei sale.
11 and whanne the flok was watrid, he kisside hir, and he wepte with `vois reisid.
Şi Iacob a sărutat pe Rahela şi el şi-a ridicat vocea şi a plâns.
12 And he schewide to hir that he was the brothir of hir fadir, and the sone of Rebecca; and sche hastide, and telde to hir fadir.
Şi Iacob a povestit Rahelei că el era fratele tatălui ei şi că el era fiul Rebecăi; şi ea a alergat şi a povestit tatălui ei.
13 And whanne he hadde herd, that Jacob, the sone of his sistir, cam, he ran ayens hym, and he biclippide Jacob and kisside hym, and ledde in to his hows. Forsothe whanne the causis of the iurney weren herd,
Şi s-a întâmplat, când Laban a auzit veştile despre Iacob, fiul surorii lui, că el a alergat să îl întâlnească şi l-a îmbrăţişat şi l-a sărutat şi l-a adus în casa lui. Şi el a povestit lui Laban toate aceste lucruri.
14 Laban answeride, Thou art my boon and my fleisch. And aftir that the daies of o moneth weren fillid, Laban seide to him,
Şi Laban i-a spus: Tu eşti cu adevărat osul meu şi carnea mea. Şi a rămas cu el o lună de zile.
15 `Whethir for thou art my brothir, thou schalt serue me frely? seie thou what mede thou schalt take.
Şi Laban i-a spus lui Iacob: Pentru că tu eşti fratele meu ar trebui de aceea să îmi serveşti degeaba? Spune-mi, ce va fi plata ta.
16 Forsothe Laban hadde twei douytris, the name of the more was Lya, sotheli the lesse was clepid Rachel;
Şi Laban avea două fiice; numele celei mai în vârstă era Leea şi numele celei mai tinere era Rahela.
17 but Lya was blere iyed, Rachel was of fair face, and semeli in siyt.
Leea era slabă de ochi; dar Rahela era frumoasă la statură şi plăcută la vedere.
18 And Jacob louede Rachel, and seide, Y schal serue thee seuene yeer for Rachel thi lesse douytir.
Şi Iacob a iubit-o pe Rahela; şi a spus: Te voi servi şapte ani pentru Rahela, fiica ta mai tânără.
19 Laban answeride, It is betere that Y yyue hir to thee than to anothir man; dwelle thou at me.
Şi Laban a spus: Este mai bine să ţi-o dau ţie decât să o dau altui bărbat; rămâi la mine.
20 Therfor Jacob seruyde seuene yeer for Rachel; and the daies semyden fewe to hym for the greetnesse of loue.
Şi Iacob a servit şapte ani pentru Rahela; şi aceştia i-au părut doar câteva zile, din cauza dragostei pe care o avea pentru ea.
21 And he seide to Laban, Yyue thou my wijf to me, for the tyme is fillid that Y entre to hir.
Şi Iacob i-a spus lui Laban: Dă-mi soţia mea, pentru că zilele mi s-au împlinit, ca să intru la ea.
22 And whanne many cumpenyes of freendis weren clepid to the feeste, he made weddyngis,
Şi Laban a strâns împreună toţi bărbaţii locului şi a făcut un ospăţ.
23 and in the euentid Laban brouyte in to hym Lya his douytir,
Şi s-a întâmplat, în timpul serii, că el a luat pe Leea fiica sa, şi i-a adus-o; iar el a intrat la ea.
24 and yaf an handmaide, Selfa bi name, to the douyter. And whanne Jacob hadde entrid to hir bi custom, whanne the morewtid was maad, he seiy Lya,
Şi Laban a dat fiicei sale, Leea, pe Zilpa, roaba lui, ca servitoare.
25 and seide to his wyues fadir, What is it that thou woldist do? wher Y seruede not thee for Rachel? whi hast thou disseyued me?
Şi s-a întâmplat, că dimineaţa, iată, era Leea; şi i-a spus lui Laban: Ce este aceasta ce mi-ai făcut? Nu ţi-am servit pentru Rahela? Şi de ce m-ai înşelat?
26 Laban answerde, It is not custom in oure place that we yyue first the `lesse douytris to weddyngis;
Şi Laban a spus: Nu trebuie să fie făcut astfel în ţara noastră, a da pe cea mai tânără înaintea celei întâi născute.
27 fille thou the wouke of daies of this couplyng, and Y schal yyue to thee also this Rachel, for the werk in which thou schalt serue me bi othere seuene yeer.
Împlineşte săptămâna ei şi ţi-o vom da şi pe aceasta pentru serviciul pe care mi-l vei face încă alţi şapte ani.
28 Jacob assentide to the couenaunt, and whanne the wouke was passid,
Şi Iacob a făcut astfel şi a împlinit săptămâna ei; iar el i-a dat şi pe Rahela, fiica sa, de soţie.
29 he weddide Rachel, to whom the fadir hadde youe Bala seruauntesse.
Şi Laban a dat Rahelei, fiica sa, pe Bilha, roaba lui, să fie roaba ei.
30 And at the laste he vside the weddyngis desirid, and settide the loue of the `wijf suynge bifore the former; and he seruede at Laban seuene othere yeer.
Iar el a intrat şi la Rahela şi a iubit pe Rahela şi mai mult decât pe Leea şi i-a servit încă alţi şapte ani.
31 Forsothe the Lord seiy that he dispiside Lya, and openyde hir wombe while the sistir dwellide bareyn.
Şi când DOMNUL a văzut că Leea era urâtă de el, a deschis pântecele ei; dar Rahela era stearpă.
32 And Lia childide a sone conseyued, and clepide his name Ruben, and seide, The Lord seiy my mekenesse; now myn hosebonde schal loue me.
Şi Leea a rămas însărcinată şi a născut un fiu şi i-a pus numele Ruben, căci ea a spus: Cu adevărat DOMNUL a privit la necazul meu; de aceea acum soţul meu mă va iubi.
33 And eft sche conseyuede, `and childide a sone, and seide, For the Lord seiy that Y was dispisid, he yaf also this sone to me; and sche clepide his name Symeon.
Şi a rămas însărcinată din nou şi a născut un fiu şi a spus: Pentru că DOMNUL a auzit că eu eram urâtă de soţul meu, mi-a dat de aceea şi acest fiu; şi i-a pus numele Simeon.
34 And sche conseyuede the thridde tyme, and childide anothir sone, and she seide also, Now myn hosebonde schal be couplid to me, for Y childide thre sones to him; and therfor sche clepide his name Leuy.
Şi a rămas însărcinată din nou şi a născut un fiu şi a spus: Acum, de această dată, soţul meu va fi lipit de mine, pentru că i-am născut lui trei fii; de aceea numele lui a fost chemat Levi.
35 The fourthe tyme sche conseyuede, and childide a sone, and seide, Now I schal knouleche to the Lord; and herfor she clepide his name Judas; and ceesside to childe.
Şi a rămas însărcinată din nou şi a născut un fiu; şi a spus: Acum voi lăuda pe DOMNUL; de aceea i-a pus numele Iuda; şi a încetat să nască.
