Genesis 29
1 Therfor Jacob passide forth, and cam in to the eest lond;
Tedy Jakób wstawszy, poszedł do ziemi, mieszkających na wschód słońca.
2 and seiy a pit in the feeld, and thre flockis of scheep restynge bisidis it, for whi scheep weren watrid therof, and the mouth therof was closid with a greet stoon.
I ujrzał studnią na polu, i trzy stada owiec leżących przy niej; bo z onej studni napawano stada, a kamień wielki był na wierzchu onej studni.
3 And the custom was that whanne alle scheep weren gaderid togidere, thei schulden turne awei the stoon, and whanne the flockis weren fillid thei schulden put it eft on the mouth of the pit.
Albowiem schodziły się tam wszystkie stada, i odwalono kamień z wierzchu studni, a napawano stada; potem zaś kładziono kamień na wierzch studni na miejsce jego.
4 And Jacob seide to the scheepherdis, Brithren, of whennus ben ye? Whiche answeriden, Of Aran.
Tedy rzekł do nich Jakób: Bracia moi, skądeście? i odpowiedzieli: Z Haranu jesteśmy.
5 And he axide hem and seide, Wher ye knowen Laban, the sone of Nachor? Thei seiden, We knowen.
I rzekł do nich Jakób: A znacie Labana, syna Nachorowego? odpowiedzieli: Znamy.
6 Jacob seide, Is he hool? Thei seiden, He is in good staat; and lo! Rachel, his douytir, cometh with his flok.
Zatem rzekł do nich: A dobrze się ma? a oni odpowiedzieli: Dobrze; a oto, Rachel córka jego idzie z stadem.
7 And Jacob seide, Yit myche of the dai is to come, and it is not tyme that the flockis be led ayen to the fooldis; sotheli yyue ye drynk to the scheep, and so lede ye hem ayen to mete.
Tedy rzekł: Oto, jeszcze dosyć dnia, i nie czas zganiać stada; napójcież owce, a idźcie, popaście ich.
8 Whiche answeriden, We moun not til alle scheep be gederid to gidere, and til we remouen the stoon fro the mouth of the pit to watir the flockis.
A oni odpowiedzieli: Nie możemy, ażby się zebrały wszystkie stada, i odwalony był kamień z wierzchu studni, abyśmy napoili stada.
9 Yit thei spaken, and lo! Rachel cam with the scheep of hir fadir.
A gdy to jeszcze mówił z nimi, Rachel nadeszła z owcami ojca swego, bo je ona pasła.

I gdy ujrzał Jakób Rachelę, córkę Labana, brata matki swojej, z owcami Labana, brata matki swej: tedy przystąpił Jakób, i odwalił kamień z wierzchu studni, a napoił owce Labana, brata matki swojej.
11 and whanne the flok was watrid, he kisside hir, and he wepte with `vois reisid.
I pocałował Jakób Rachelę, i podniósłszy głos swój płakał.
12 And he schewide to hir that he was the brothir of hir fadir, and the sone of Rebecca; and sche hastide, and telde to hir fadir.
I oznajmił Jakób Racheli, że jest bratem ojca jej, a iż jest synem Rebeki: a ona bieżawszy opowiedziała to ojcu swemu.
13 And whanne he hadde herd, that Jacob, the sone of his sistir, cam, he ran ayens hym, and he biclippide Jacob and kisside hym, and ledde in to his hows. Forsothe whanne the causis of the iurney weren herd,
A gdy usłyszał Laban wieść o Jakóbie, synu siostry swojej, wybieżał przeciwko niemu, i obłapił go, a pocałowawszy, wwiódł do domu swego. A on Labanowi powiedział o wszystkiem.
14 Laban answeride, Thou art my boon and my fleisch. And aftir that the daies of o moneth weren fillid, Laban seide to him,
I rzekł mu Laban: Zaisteś ty jest kość moja, i ciało moje. I mieszkał u niego przez cały miesiąc.
15 `Whethir for thou art my brothir, thou schalt serue me frely? seie thou what mede thou schalt take.
Potem rzekł Laban do Jakóba: Izali, żeś mi brat, służyć mi będziesz darmo? powiedz mi, jaką ma być zapłata twoja.
16 Forsothe Laban hadde twei douytris, the name of the more was Lya, sotheli the lesse was clepid Rachel;
A miał Laban dwie córki: imię starszej Lija, a imię młodszej Rachel.
17 but Lya was blere iyed, Rachel was of fair face, and semeli in siyt.
Ale Lija była chorych oczu, a Rachel zaś pięknego oblicza, i wdzięczna na wejrzeniu.
18 And Jacob louede Rachel, and seide, Y schal serue thee seuene yeer for Rachel thi lesse douytir.
Miłował tedy Jakób Rachelę, i rzekł: Będęć służył siedem lat za Rachelę, córkę twoję młodszą.
19 Laban answeride, It is betere that Y yyue hir to thee than to anothir man; dwelle thou at me.
Odpowiedział Laban: Lepiej że ją tobie dam, niźlibym ją miał dać mężowi innemu: mieszkajże ze mną.
20 Therfor Jacob seruyde seuene yeer for Rachel; and the daies semyden fewe to hym for the greetnesse of loue.
I służył Jakób za Rachelę siedem lat, i zdał mu się ten czas jako kilka dni, przeto że ją miłował.
21 And he seide to Laban, Yyue thou my wijf to me, for the tyme is fillid that Y entre to hir.
Potem rzekł Jakób do Labana: Daj mi żonę moję, ponieważ się wypełniły dni moje, abym wszedł do niej.
22 And whanne many cumpenyes of freendis weren clepid to the feeste, he made weddyngis,
Tedy wezwawszy Laban wszystkich mężów miejsca onego, sprawił ucztę.
23 and in the euentid Laban brouyte in to hym Lya his douytir,
A gdy był wieczór, wziął Liję, córkę swoję, i wwiódł ją do niego, a Jakób wszedł do niej.
24 and yaf an handmaide, Selfa bi name, to the douyter. And whanne Jacob hadde entrid to hir bi custom, whanne the morewtid was maad, he seiy Lya,
Dał też Laban i Zelfę, dziewkę swoję, Lii, córce swej, za służebnicę.
25 and seide to his wyues fadir, What is it that thou woldist do? wher Y seruede not thee for Rachel? whi hast thou disseyued me?
A gdy było rano, poznał Jakób, że to Lija, i rzekł do Labana: Cóżeś mi to uczynił? Izalim ja nie za Rachelę tobie służył? czemużeś mię tedy oszukał?
26 Laban answerde, It is not custom in oure place that we yyue first the `lesse douytris to weddyngis;
I odpowiedział Laban: Nie jest to w zwyczaju u nas, aby miano wydawać za mąż młodszą przed starszą.
27 fille thou the wouke of daies of this couplyng, and Y schal yyue to thee also this Rachel, for the werk in which thou schalt serue me bi othere seuene yeer.
Wytrwaj z tą tydzień, a dam ci i tę za służbę, którą mi będziesz służył jeszcze drugie siedem lat.
28 Jacob assentide to the couenaunt, and whanne the wouke was passid,
I uczynił tak Jakób, i wypełnił z tą tydzień; potem dał mu Laban Rachelę, córkę swoję, za żonę.
29 he weddide Rachel, to whom the fadir hadde youe Bala seruauntesse.
Dał też Laban Racheli, córce swej, Balę dziewkę swoję; dał jej za służebnicę.
30 And at the laste he vside the weddyngis desirid, and settide the loue of the `wijf suynge bifore the former; and he seruede at Laban seuene othere yeer.
Tedy też wszedł Jakób do Racheli, i miłował Rachelę bardziej niż Liję, a służył mu jeszcze drugie siedem lat.
31 Forsothe the Lord seiy that he dispiside Lya, and openyde hir wombe while the sistir dwellide bareyn.
A widząc Pan, że nienawidził Liję, otworzył żywot jej; a Rachel niepłodna była.
32 And Lia childide a sone conseyued, and clepide his name Ruben, and seide, The Lord seiy my mekenesse; now myn hosebonde schal loue me.
Tedy począwszy Lija porodziła syna, i nazwała imię jego Ruben, bo rzekła: Zaiste wejrzał Pan na utrapienie moje; a tak teraz miłować mię będzie mąż mój.
33 And eft sche conseyuede, `and childide a sone, and seide, For the Lord seiy that Y was dispisid, he yaf also this sone to me; and sche clepide his name Symeon.
I zasię poczęła, i porodziła syna, a rzekła: Zaiste usłyszał Pan, żem ja była w nienawiści, przetoż dał mi też i tego; i nazwała imię jego Symeon.
34 And sche conseyuede the thridde tyme, and childide anothir sone, and she seide also, Now myn hosebonde schal be couplid to me, for Y childide thre sones to him; and therfor sche clepide his name Leuy.
Potem jeszcze poczęła, i porodziła syna, i rzekła: I tym razem przyłączy się mąż mój do mnie, bom mu urodziła trzech synów; przetoż nazwała imię jego Lewi.
35 The fourthe tyme sche conseyuede, and childide a sone, and seide, Now I schal knouleche to the Lord; and herfor she clepide his name Judas; and ceesside to childe.
Nad to jeszcze poczęła, i porodziła syna, i rzekła: Teraz już chwalić będę Pana; przetoż nazwała imię jego Juda, i przestała rodzić.
