Genesis 28
1 And so Isaac clepide Jacob, and blesside hym, and comaundide to hym, and seide, Nyle thou take a wijf of the kyn of Canaan; but go thou,
Isaac donc appela Jacob, et le bénit, et lui commanda, en disant: Tu ne prendras point de femme d'entre les filles de Canaan.
2 and walke forth in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, to the hows of Batuel, fadir of thi modir, and take to thee of thennus a wijf of the douytris of Laban, thin vncle.
Lève-toi; va en Paddan-Aram, à la maison de Béthuel, père de ta mère, et prends-toi de là une femme des filles de Laban, frère de ta mère.
3 Sotheli Almyyti God blesse thee, and make thee to encreesse, and multiplie thee, that thou be in to cumpanyes of puplis;
Et le [Dieu] Fort, Tout-Puissant te bénisse, et te fasse croître et multiplier, afin que tu deviennes une assemblée de peuples.
4 and God yyue to thee the blessyngis of Abraham, and to thi seed aftir thee, that thou welde the lond of thi pilgrymage, which he bihiyte to thi grauntsir.
Et qu'il te donne la bénédiction d'Abraham, à toi et à la postérité avec toi, afin que tu obtiennes en héritage le pays où tu as été étranger, lequel Dieu a donné à Abraham.
5 And whanne Ysaac hadde left hym, he yede forth, and cam in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, to Laban, the sone of Batuel of Sirie, the brother of Rebecca, his modir.
Isaac donc fit partir Jacob, qui s'en alla en Paddan-Aram, vers Laban, fils de Béthuel Syrien, frère de Rébecca, mère de Jacob et d'Esaü.
6 Forsothe Esau seiy that his fadir hadde blessid Jacob, and hadde sent him in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, that he schulde wedde a wijf of thennus, and that aftir the blessyng he comaundide to Jacob, and seide, Thou schalt not take a wijf of the douytris of Canaan;
Et Esaü vit qu'Isaac avait béni Jacob, et qu'il l'avait envoyé en Paddan-Aram, afin qu'il prît femme de ce pays-là pour lui, et qu'il lui avait commandé, quand il le bénissait, disant: Ne prends point de femme d'entre les filles de Canaan;
7 and that Jacob obeiede to his fadir `and modir, and yede in to Sirie;
Et que Jacob avait obéi à son père et à sa mère, et s'en était allé en Paddan-Aram.
8 also Esau preuyde that his fadir bihelde not gladli the douytris of Canaan.
C'est pourquoi Esaü voyant que les filles de Canaan déplaisaient à Isaac son père,
9 And he yede to Ismael, and weddide a wijf, with out these whiche he hadde bifore, Melech, the douyter of Ismael, sone of Abraham, the sistir of Nabaioth.
S'en alla vers Ismaël, et prit pour femme, outre ses [autres] femmes, Mahalath, fille d'Ismaël, fils d'Abraham, sœur de Nébajoth.
10 Therfor Jacob yede out of Bersabee, and yede to Aran.
Jacob donc partit de Béer-Sébah, et s'en alla à Caran.
11 And whanne he hadde come to sum place, and wolde reste ther inne aftir the goynge doun of the sunne, he took of the stoonus that laien ther, and he puttide vndur his heed, and slepte in the same place.
Et il se rencontra en un lieu où il passa la nuit, parce que le soleil était couché. Il prit donc des pierres de ce lieu-là, et en fit son chevet, et s'endormit en ce même lieu.
12 And he seiye in sleep a laddir stondynge on the erthe, and the cop ther of touchinge heuene; and he seiy Goddis aungels stiynge vp and goynge doun ther bi,
Et il songea; et voici, une échelle dressée sur la terre, dont le bout touchait jusqu'aux cieux; et voici, les Anges de Dieu montaient et descendaient par cette échelle.
13 and the Lord fastned to the laddir, seiynge to hym, Y am the Lord God of Abraham, thi fadir, and God of Isaac; Y schal yyue to thee and to thi seed the lond in which thou slepist.
Et voici, l'Eternel se tenait sur l'échelle, et il lui dit: Je suis l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Abraham ton père, et le Dieu d'Isaac; je te donnerai et à ta postérité, la terre sur laquelle tu dors.
14 And thi seed schal be as the dust of erthe, thou schalt be alargid to the eest, and west, and north, and south; and alle lynagis of erthe schulen be blessid in thee and in thi seed.
Et ta postérité sera comme la poussière de la terre, et tu t'étendras à l'Occident, à l'Orient, au Septentrion, et au Midi, et toutes les familles de la terre seront bénies en toi et en ta semence.
15 And Y schal be thi kepere, whidur euer thou schalt go; and Y schal lede thee ayen in to this lond, and Y schal not leeue no but Y schal fil alle thingis whiche Y seide.
Et voici, je suis avec toi; et je te garderai partout où tu iras; et je te ramènerai en ce pays; car je ne t'abandonnerai point que je n'aie fait ce que je t'ai dit.
16 And whanne Jacob hadde wakyd of sleep, he seide, Verili the Lord is in this place, and Y wiste not.
Et quand Jacob fut réveillé de son sommeil, il dit: Certes! l'Eternel est en ce lieu-ci, et je n'en savais rien.
17 And he seide dredynge, Hou worschipful is this place! Here is noon other thing no but the hows of God, and the yate of heuene.
Et il eut peur, et dit: Que ce lieu-ci est effrayant! C'est ici la maison de Dieu, et c'est ici la porte des cieux.
18 Therfor Jacob roos eerli, and took the stoon which he hadde put vndur his heed, and reiside in to a title, and helde oile aboue.
Et Jacob se leva de bon matin, et prit la pierre dont il avait fait son chevet, et la dressa pour monument; et versa de l'huile sur son sommet.
19 And he clepide the name of that citee Bethel, which was clepid Lusa bifore.
Et il appela le nom de ce lieu-là, Béthel: mais auparavant la ville s'appelait Luz.
20 Also he auowide a vow, and seide, If God is with me, and kepith me in the weie in which Y go, and yyueth to me looues to ete, and clothis to be clothid,
Et Jacob fit un vœu, en disant: Si Dieu est avec moi, et s'il me garde dans le voyage que je fais, s'il me donne du pain à manger, et des habits pour me vêtir,
21 and Y turne ayen in prosperite to the hows of my fadir, the Lord schal be in to God to me.
Et si je retourne en paix à la maison de mon père, certainement l'Eternel me sera Dieu.
22 And this stoon, which Y reiside in to a title, schal be clepid the hows of God, and Y schal offre tithis to thee of alle thingis whiche thou schalt yyue to me.
Et cette pierre que j'ai dressée pour monument, sera la maison de Dieu; et de tout ce que tu m'auras donné, je t'en donnerai entièrement la dîme.
