Genesis 28
1 And so Isaac clepide Jacob, and blesside hym, and comaundide to hym, and seide, Nyle thou take a wijf of the kyn of Canaan; but go thou,
Silloin Iisak kutsui Jaakobin ja siunasi hänet; hän käski häntä ja sanoi hänelle: "Älä ota vaimoksesi ketään Kanaanin tyttäristä,
2 and walke forth in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, to the hows of Batuel, fadir of thi modir, and take to thee of thennus a wijf of the douytris of Laban, thin vncle.
vaan nouse ja mene Mesopotamiaan, isoisäsi Betuelin kotiin, ja ota sieltä itsellesi vaimo enosi Laabanin tyttäristä.
3 Sotheli Almyyti God blesse thee, and make thee to encreesse, and multiplie thee, that thou be in to cumpanyes of puplis;
Ja Jumala, Kaikkivaltias, siunatkoon sinua ja antakoon sinun tulla hedelmälliseksi ja lisääntyä, niin että sinusta tulee suuri kansojen joukko.
4 and God yyue to thee the blessyngis of Abraham, and to thi seed aftir thee, that thou welde the lond of thi pilgrymage, which he bihiyte to thi grauntsir.
Ja hän suokoon sinulle Aabrahamin siunauksen, sinulle ynnä sinun jälkeläisillesi, että saisit omaksesi maan, jossa sinä muukalaisena asut ja jonka Jumala on antanut Aabrahamille."
5 And whanne Ysaac hadde left hym, he yede forth, and cam in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, to Laban, the sone of Batuel of Sirie, the brother of Rebecca, his modir.
Niin Iisak lähetti Jaakobin matkalle, ja hän lähti Mesopotamiaan Laabanin luo, joka oli aramilaisen Betuelin poika ja Rebekan, Jaakobin ja Eesaun äidin, veli.
6 Forsothe Esau seiy that his fadir hadde blessid Jacob, and hadde sent him in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, that he schulde wedde a wijf of thennus, and that aftir the blessyng he comaundide to Jacob, and seide, Thou schalt not take a wijf of the douytris of Canaan;
Kun Eesau näki, että Iisak oli siunannut Jaakobin ja lähettänyt hänet Mesopotamiaan ottamaan sieltä itselleen vaimoa-sillä hän oli siunannut hänet, käskenyt häntä ja sanonut: "Älä ota vaimoa Kanaanin tyttäristä" -
7 and that Jacob obeiede to his fadir `and modir, and yede in to Sirie;

8 also Esau preuyde that his fadir bihelde not gladli the douytris of Canaan.
silloin hän huomasi, että Kanaanin tyttäret olivat hänen isälleen Iisakille vastenmieliset;
9 And he yede to Ismael, and weddide a wijf, with out these whiche he hadde bifore, Melech, the douyter of Ismael, sone of Abraham, the sistir of Nabaioth.
ja niin Eesau meni Ismaelin luo ja otti Mahalatin, Aabrahamin pojan Ismaelin tyttären, Nebajotin sisaren, vaimokseen entisten lisäksi.
10 Therfor Jacob yede out of Bersabee, and yede to Aran.
Niin Jaakob lähti Beersebasta mennäksensä Harraniin.
11 And whanne he hadde come to sum place, and wolde reste ther inne aftir the goynge doun of the sunne, he took of the stoonus that laien ther, and he puttide vndur his heed, and slepte in the same place.
Ja hän osui erääseen paikkaan, johon yöpyi, sillä aurinko oli laskenut; ja hän otti sen paikan kivistä yhden, pani sen päänsä alaiseksi ja asettui nukkumaan siihen paikkaan.
12 And he seiye in sleep a laddir stondynge on the erthe, and the cop ther of touchinge heuene; and he seiy Goddis aungels stiynge vp and goynge doun ther bi,
Niin hän näki unta, ja katso, maan päälle oli asetettu tikapuut, joiden pää ulottui taivaaseen, ja katso, Jumalan enkelit kulkivat niitä myöten ylös ja alas.
13 and the Lord fastned to the laddir, seiynge to hym, Y am the Lord God of Abraham, thi fadir, and God of Isaac; Y schal yyue to thee and to thi seed the lond in which thou slepist.
Ja katso, Herra seisoi hänen edessään ja sanoi: "Minä olen Herra, sinun Isäsi Aabrahamin Jumala ja Iisakin Jumala. Tämän maan, jonka päällä sinä makaat, minä annan sinulle ja sinun jälkeläisillesi.
14 And thi seed schal be as the dust of erthe, thou schalt be alargid to the eest, and west, and north, and south; and alle lynagis of erthe schulen be blessid in thee and in thi seed.
Ja sinun jälkeläistesi paljous on oleva kuin maan tomu, ja sinä leviät länteen ja itään, pohjoiseen ja etelään, ja sinussa ja sinun siemenessäsi tulevat siunatuiksi kaikki sukukunnat maan päällä.
15 And Y schal be thi kepere, whidur euer thou schalt go; and Y schal lede thee ayen in to this lond, and Y schal not leeue no but Y schal fil alle thingis whiche Y seide.
Ja katso, minä olen sinun kanssasi ja varjelen sinua, missä ikinä kuljet, ja saatan sinut takaisin tähän maahan; sillä minä en jätä sinua, ennenkuin olen toteuttanut sen, minkä minä olen sinulle puhunut."
16 And whanne Jacob hadde wakyd of sleep, he seide, Verili the Lord is in this place, and Y wiste not.
Silloin Jaakob heräsi unestansa ja sanoi: "Herra on totisesti tässä paikassa, enkä minä sitä tiennyt".
17 And he seide dredynge, Hou worschipful is this place! Here is noon other thing no but the hows of God, and the yate of heuene.
Ja pelko valtasi hänet, ja hän sanoi: "Kuinka peljättävä onkaan tämä paikka! Tässä on varmasti Jumalan huone ja taivaan portti."
18 Therfor Jacob roos eerli, and took the stoon which he hadde put vndur his heed, and reiside in to a title, and helde oile aboue.
Ja Jaakob nousi varhain aamulla, otti kiven, jonka hän oli pannut päänsä alaiseksi, ja nosti sen pystyyn patsaaksi ja vuodatti öljyä sen päälle.
19 And he clepide the name of that citee Bethel, which was clepid Lusa bifore.
Ja hän kutsui paikan Beeteliksi; mutta ennen oli kaupungin nimenä Luus.
20 Also he auowide a vow, and seide, If God is with me, and kepith me in the weie in which Y go, and yyueth to me looues to ete, and clothis to be clothid,
Ja Jaakob teki lupauksen, sanoen: "Jos Jumala on minun kanssani ja varjelee minut sillä tiellä, jota nyt kuljen, ja antaa minulle leipää syödäkseni ja vaatteita pukeutuakseni,
21 and Y turne ayen in prosperite to the hows of my fadir, the Lord schal be in to God to me.
niin että saan palata rauhassa isäni kotiin, niin on Herra oleva minun Jumalani;
22 And this stoon, which Y reiside in to a title, schal be clepid the hows of God, and Y schal offre tithis to thee of alle thingis whiche thou schalt yyue to me.
ja tämä kivi, jonka olen patsaaksi pystyttänyt, on oleva Jumalan huone, ja kaikesta, mitä minulle suot, minä totisesti annan sinulle kymmenykset".
