Genesis 15
1 And so whanne these thingis weren don, the word of the Lord was maad to Abram bi a visioun, and seide, Abram, nyle thou drede, Y am thi defender, and thi meede is ful greet.
En tid härefter kom HERRENS ord i en syn till Abram; han sade: »Frukta icke, Abram, jag är din sköld, din lön skall bliva mycket stor.»
2 And Abram seide, Lord God, what schalt thou yyue to me? Y schal go with oute fre children, and this Damask, sone of Elieser, the procuratour of myn hous, schal be myn eir.
Men Abram sade: »Herre, HERRE, vad vill du då giva mig? Jag går ju barnlös bort, och arvinge till mitt hus bliver en man från Damaskus, Elieser.»
3 And Abram addide, Sotheli thou hast not youe seed to me, and, lo! my borun seruaunt schal be myn eir.
Och Abram sade ytterligare: »Mig har du icke givit någon livsfrukt; en av mitt husfolk skall bliva min arvinge.»
4 And anoon the word of the Lord was maad to hym, and seide, This schal not be thin eir, but thou schalt haue hym eir, that schal go out of thi wombe.
Men se, HERRENS ord kom till honom; han sade: »Nej, denne skall icke bliva din arvinge, utan en som utgår från ditt eget liv skall bliva din arvinge.»
5 And the Lord ledde out Abram, and seide to hym, Biholde thou heuene, and noumbre thou sterris, if thou maist. And the Lord seide to Abram, So thi seed schal be.
Och han förde honom ut och sade: »Skåda upp till himmelen, och räkna stjärnorna, om du kan räkna dem.» Och han sade till honom: »Så skall din säd bliva.»
6 Abram bileuede to God, and it was arettid to hym to riytfulnesse.
Och han trodde på HERREN; och han räknade honom det till rättfärdighet.
7 And God seide to hym, Y am the Lord, that ladde thee out of Vr of Caldeis, that Y schulde yyue this lond to thee, and thou schuldist haue it in possessioun.
Och han sade till honom: »Jag är HERREN, som har fört dig ut från det kaldeiska Ur för att giva dig detta land till besittning.»
8 And Abram seide, Lord God, wherbi may I wite that Y schal welde it?
Han svarade: »Herre, HERRE, varav skall jag veta att jag skall besitta det?»
9 And the Lord answerde, and seide, Take thou to me a cow of thre yeer, and a geet of thre yeer, and a ram of thre yeer, a turtle also, and a culuer.
Då sade han till honom: »Tag åt mig en treårig kviga, en treårig get och en treårig vädur, därtill en turturduva och en ung duva.»
10 Which took alle these thingis, and departide tho bi the myddis, and settide euer eithir partis ech ayens other; but he departide not the briddis.
Och han tog åt honom alla dessa djur och styckade dem mitt itu och lade styckena mitt emot varandra; dock styckade han icke fåglarna.
11 And foulis camen doun on the careyns, and Abram drof hem awey.
Och rovfåglar slogo ned på de döda kropparna, men Abram drev bort dem.
12 And whanne the sunne was gon doun, drede felde on Abram, and a greet hidousenesse and derk asaylide him.
När nu solen var nära att gå ned och en tung sömn hade fallit på Abram, se, då kom en förskräckelse över honom och ett stort mörker.
13 And it was seid to hym, Wite thou bifore knowinge, that thi seed schal be pilgrim foure hundrid yeer in a lond not his owne, and thei schulen make hem suget to seruage, and thei schulen turment hem;
Och han sade till Abram: »Det skall du veta, att din säd skall komma att leva såsom främlingar i ett land som icke tillhör dem, och de skola där vara trälar, och man skall förtrycka dem; så skall ske i fyra hundra år.»
14 netheles Y schal deme the folk to whom thei schulen serue; and aftir these thingis thei schulen go out with greet catel.
Men det folk vars trälar de bliva skall jag ock döma. Sedan skola de draga ut med stora ägodelar.
15 Forsothe thou schalt go to thi fadris in pees, and schalt be biried in good age.
Men du själv skall gå till dina fäder i frid och bliva begraven i en god ålder.
16 Sotheli in the fourthe generacioun thei schulen turne ayen hidir, for the wickidnesses of Amoreis ben not yit fillid, `til to present tyme.
Och i det fjärde släktet skall din säd komma hit tillbaka. Ty ännu hava icke amoréerna fyllt sin missgärnings mått.»
17 Therfor whanne the sunne was gon doun, a derk myst was maad, and a furneis smokynge apperide, and a laumpe of fier, and passide thorou tho departingis.
Då nu solen hade gått ned och det hade blivit alldeles mörkt, syntes en rykande ugn med flammande låga, som for fram mellan styckena.
18 In that dai the Lord made a couenaunt of pees with Abram, and seide, Y schal yyue to thi seed this lond, fro the ryuer of Egipt til to the greet ryuer Eufrates; Cyneis,
På den dagen slöt HERREN ett förbund med Abram och sade: »Åt din säd skall jag giva detta land, från Egyptens flod ända till den stora floden, till floden Frat:
19 and Cyneseis, and Cethmoneis, and Etheis,
kainéernas, kenaséernas, kadmonéernas,
20 and Fereseis, and Raphaym, and Amorreis,
hetiternas, perisséernas, rafaéernas,
21 and Cananeis, and Gergeseis, and Jebuseis.
amoréernas, kananéernas, girgaséernas och jebuséernas land.»
