Genesis 14
1 Forsothe it was don in that tyme, that Amrafel, kyng of Sennaar, and Ariok, kyng of Ponte, and Chodorlaomor, kyng of Elemytis,
Or il arriva du temps d'Amraphel Roi de Sinhar, d'Arjoc Roi d'Ellasar, de Kédor-Lahomer Roi d'Hélam, et de Tidhal Roi des nations;
2 and Tadal, kyng of folkis, bigunnen batel ayens Bara, kyng of Sodom, and ayens Bersa, kyng of Gomorre, and ayens Sennaar, kyng of Adama, and ayens Semeber, kyng of Seboym, and ayens the kyng of Bale; thilke Bale is Segor.
Qu'ils firent la guerre contre Bérah Roi de Sodome, et contre Birsah Roi de Gomorrhe, et contre Sinab Roi d'Adma, et contre Séméber Roi de Tséboïm, et contre le Roi de Bélah, qui est Tsohar.
3 Alle these camen togidre in to the valey of wode, which is now the see of salt.
Tous ceux-ci se joignirent dans la vallée de Siddim, qui est la mer salée.
4 For in twelue yeer thei seruyden Chodorlaomor, and in the threttenthe yeer thei departiden fro hym.
Ils avaient été asservis douze ans à Kédor-Lahomer, mais au treizième ils s'étaient révoltés.
5 Therfor Chodorlaomor cam in the fourtenthe yeer, and kyngis that weren with him, and thei `han smyte Rafaym in Astaroth Carnaym, and Susym with hem, and Emym in Sabe Cariathaym,
A la quatorzième année donc Kédor-Lahomer vint, [et] les Rois qui étaient avec lui, et ils battirent les Rephaïms en Hastéroth de Carnaïm, et les Zuzins en Ham, et les Emins dans la plaine de Kirjathajim,
6 and Choreis in the hillis of Seir, til to the feldi placis of Faran, which is in wildirnesse.
Et les Horiens dans leur montagne de Séhir, jusqu'aux campagnes de Paran, au-dessus du désert.
7 And thei turneden ayen, and camen til to the welle Mesphath; thilke is Cades. And thei `han smyte al the cuntre of men of Amalec, and Amorrei, that dwellide in Asason Thamar.
Puis ils retournèrent, et vinrent à Hen de Mispat, qui est Kadès; et ils frappèrent tout le pays des Hamalécites et des Amorrhéens qui habitaient dans Hatsatson-Tamar.
8 And the kyng of Sodom, and the king of Gomorre, and the kyng of Adama, and the kyng of Seboym, also and the kyng of Bale, which is Segor, yeden out, and dressiden scheltrun ayens hem in the valei of wode,
Alors le Roi de Sodome, le Roi de Gomorrhe, le Roi d'Adma, le Roi de Tséboïm, et le Roi de Bélah, qui est Tsohar, sortirent, et rangèrent leurs troupes contr'eux dans la vallée de Siddim.
9 that is, ayens Chodorlaomor, kyng of Elamytis, and Thadal, kyng of folkis, and Amrafel, kyng of Sennaar, and Ariok, kyng of Ponte; foure kyngis ayens fyue.
[C'est-à-dire] contre Kédor-Lahomer Roi d'Hélam, et contre Tidhal Roi des nations, et contre Amraphel Roi de Sinhar, et contre Arjoc Roi d'Ellasar, quatre Rois contre cinq.
10 Forsothe the valey of the wode hadde many pittis of pitche; and so the kyng of Sodom and the kyng of Gomorre turneden the backis, and felden doun there; and thei that leften fledden to the hil.
Or la vallée de Siddim était pleine de puits de bitume; et les Rois de Sodome et de Gomorrhe s'enfuirent, et y tombèrent, et ceux qui étaient demeurés de reste s'enfuirent en la montagne.
11 Sotheli thei token awei al the catel of Sodom and Gomorre, and alle thingis that perteynen to mete, and yeden awei;
Ils prirent donc toutes les richesses de Sodome et de Gomorrhe, et tous leurs vivres; puis ils se retirèrent.
12 also and thei token awey Loth and his catel, the sone of the brother of Abram, which Loth dwellide in Sodom.
Ils prirent aussi Lot, fils du frère d'Abram, qui demeurait dans Sodome, et tout son bien; puis ils s'en allèrent.
13 And, lo! oon that ascapide, telde to Abram Ebrew, that dwellide in the valei of Mambre of Amorrei, brother of Escol, and brother of Aner; for these maden couenaunt of pees with Abram.
Et quelqu'un qui était échappé en vint avertir Abram Hébreu, qui demeurait dans les plaines de Mamré Amorrhéen, frère d'Escol, et frère de Haner, qui avaient fait alliance avec Abram.
14 And whanne Abram hadde herd this thing, that is, Loth his brothir takun, he noumbride his borun seruauntis maad redy thre hundrid and eiytene, and pursuede hem `til to Dan.
Quand donc Abram eut appris que son frère avait été emmené prisonnier, il arma trois cent dix-huit de ses serviteurs, nés dans sa maison, et il poursuivit [ces Rois] jusqu'à Dan.
15 And whanne his felowis weren departid, he felde on hem in the niyt, and he smoot hem, and pursuede hem `til to Hoba, and Fenyce, which is at the left side of Damask.
Et [ayant] partagé [ses troupes, il se jeta] sur eux de nuit, lui et ses serviteurs, et les battit, et les poursuivit jusqu'à Hobar, qui est à la gauche de Damas.
16 And he brouyte ayen al the catel, and Loth his brother with his catel, also wymmen and the puple.
Et il ramena tout le bien [qu'ils avaient pris]; il ramena aussi Lot son frère, ses biens, les femmes et le peuple.
17 Sotheli the kyng of Sodom yede out in to the metyng of him, after that he turnede ayen fro sleyng of Chodorlaomor, and of kyngis that weren with him, in the valei of Sabe, which is the valey of the kyng.
Et le Roi de Sodome s'en alla au-devant de lui, comme il s'en retournait après la défaite de Kédor-Lahomer, et des Rois qui étaient avec lui, en la vallée de la plaine, qui est la vallée royale.
18 And sotheli Melchisedech, kyng of Salem, brouyte forth breed and wyn, for he was the preest of hiyeste God;
Melchisédec aussi, Roi de Salem, fit apporter du pain et du vin, (or il était Sacrificateur du [Dieu] Fort, Souverain.)
19 and he blesside Abram, and seide, Blessid be Abram of hiy God, that made heuene and erthe of nouyt,
Et il le bénit, en disant: Béni soit Abram par le [Dieu] Fort, Souverain, possesseur des cieux et de la terre.
20 and blessid be hiy God, bi whom defendynge, enemyes ben bitakun in thin hondis. And Abram yaf tithis of alle thingis to hym.
Et loué soit le [Dieu] Fort, Souverain, qui a livré tes ennemis entre tes mains. Et [Abram] lui donna la dixme de tout.
21 Forsothe the kyng of Sodom seide to Abram, Yyue thou the men to me; take thou othir thingis to thee.
Et le Roi de Sodome dit à Abram: Donne-moi les personnes, et prends les biens pour toi.
22 And Abram answerde to hym, Y reyse myn hondis to the hiy Lord God,
Et Abram dit au Roi de Sodome: J'ai levé ma main à l'Eternel, le [Dieu] Fort, Souverain, possesseur des cieux et de la terre, [en disant]:
23 Lord of heuene and of erthe, that fro the threde of oof til to the layner of the hose I schal not take of alle thingis that ben thine, lest thou seie, I made Abram riche;
Si je prends rien de tout ce qui est à toi, depuis un fil jusqu'à une courroie de soulier, afin que tu ne dises point: J'ai enrichi Abram.
24 out takun these thingis whiche the yonge men eeten, and the partis of men that camen with me, Aner, Escol, and Mambre; these men schulen take her partis.
J'excepte seulement ce que les jeunes gens ont mangé, et la part des hommes qui sont venus avec moi, Haner, Escol, et Mamré, qui prendront leur part.
