Genesis 11
1 Forsothe the lond was of o langage, and of the same speche.

2 And whanne thei yeden forth fro the eest, thei fonden a feeld in the lond of Sennaar, and dwelliden ther ynne.
Khi đến phương đông, họ tìm thấy đồng bằng trong xứ Si-nê-a và định cư tại đó.
3 And oon seide to his neiybore, Come ye, and make we tiel stonys, and bake we tho with fier; and thei hadden tiel for stonus, and pitche for morter;
Họ bảo nhau: “Chúng ta hãy làm gạch nung trong lửa, dùng nhựa làm hồ, và khởi công xây cất.”
4 and seiden, Come ye, and make we to vs a citee and tour, whos hiynesse stretche `til to heuene; and make we solempne oure name bifor that we be departid in to alle londis.
Họ lại nói rằng: “Chúng ta hãy xây một thành phố vĩ đại, có cái tháp cao tận trời, danh tiếng chúng ta sẽ tồn tại muôn đời. Như thế, chúng ta sẽ sống đoàn tụ khỏi bị tản lạc khắp mặt đất.”
5 Forsothe the Lord cam down to se the citee and tour, which the sones of Adam bildiden.
Chúa Hằng Hữu xuống xem thành phố và ngọn tháp loài người đang xây.
6 And he seide, Lo! the puple is oon, and o langage is to alle, and thei han bigunne to make this, nethir thei schulen ceesse of her thouytis, til thei fillen tho in werk; therfor come ye, go we doun,
Ngài nói: “Vì chỉ là một dân tộc, nói cùng một thứ tiếng, nên họ đã bắt đầu công việc này, chẳng có gì ngăn cản được những việc họ định làm.
7 and scheende we there the tunge of hem, that ech man here not the voys of his neiybore.
Chúng Ta hãy xuống và làm xáo trộn ngôn ngữ, để họ không hiểu lời nói của nhau.”
8 And so the Lord departide hem fro that place in to alle londis; and thei cessiden to bielde a cytee.
Chúa Hằng Hữu làm họ tản lạc khắp mặt đất, không tiếp tục xây thành phố được.
9 And therfor the name therof was clepid Babel, for the langage of al erthe was confoundide there; and fro thennus the Lord scaterede hem on the face of alle cuntrees.
Vì thế, thành phố đó gọi là Ba-bên (nghĩa là xáo trộn), vì Chúa Hằng Hữu đã làm xáo trộn tiếng nói cả thế giới và phân tán loài người khắp mặt đất.
10 These ben the generaciouns of Sem. Sem was of an hundrid yeer whanne he gendride Arfaxath, twey yeer aftir the greet flood.
Đây là dòng dõi Sem: Hai năm sau nước lụt, Sem được 100 tuổi, sinh A-bác-sát.
11 And Sem lyuede aftir that he gendride Arfaxath fyue hundrid yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh A-bác-sát, Sem còn sống thêm 500 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
12 Forsothe Arfaxath lyuede fyue and thretti yeer, and gendride Sale;
A-bác-sát được 35 tuổi, sinh Sê-lách.
13 and Arfaxath lyuede aftir that he gendride Sale thre hundride and thre yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh Sê-lách, A-bác-sát còn sống thêm 403 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
14 Also Sale lyuede thretti yeer, and gendride Heber;
Khi Sê-lách được 30 tuổi, ông sinh Hê-be.
15 and Sale lyuede after that he gendride Heber foure hundrid and thre yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh Hê-be, Sê-lách còn sống thêm 403 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
16 Sotheli Heber lyuede foure and thretti yeer, and gendride Falech;
Khi Hê-be được 34 tuổi, ông sinh Bê-léc.
17 and Heber lyuede aftir that he gendride Falech foure hundrid and thretti yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh Bê-léc, Hê-be còn sống thêm 430 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
18 Also Falech lyuede thretti yeer, and gendride Reu;
Khi Bê-léc được 30 tuổi, ông sinh Rê-hu.
19 and Falech lyuede aftir that he gendride Reu two hundrid and nyne yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh Rê-hu, Bê-léc còn sống thêm 209 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
20 And Reu lyuede two and thretti yeer, and gendride Saruch;
Khi Rê-hu được 32 tuổi, ông sinh Sê-rúc.
21 and Reu lyuede aftir that he gendride Saruch two hundrid and seuene yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh Sê-rúc, Rê-hu còn sống thêm 207 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
22 Sotheli Saruch lyuede thretti yeer, and gendride Nachor;
Khi Sê-rúc được 30 tuổi, ông sinh Na-cô.
23 and Saruch lyuede aftir that he gendride Nacor two hundrid yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh Na-cô, Sê-rúc còn sống thêm 200 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
24 Forsothe Nachor lyuede nyne and twenti yeer, and gendride Thare;
Khi Na-cô được 29 tuổi, ông sinh Tha-rê.
25 and Nachor lyuede after that he gendride Thare an hundrid and nynetene yeer, and gendride sones and douytris.
Sau khi sinh Tha-rê, Na-cô còn sống thêm 119 năm và sinh con trai con gái.
26 And Thare lyuede seuenti yeer, and gendride Abram, and Nachor, and Aran.
Khi Tha-rê được 70 tuổi, ông sinh Áp-ram, Na-cô, và Ha-ran.
27 Sotheli these ben the generaciouns of Thare. Thare gendride Abram, Nachor, and Aran. Forsothe Aran gendride Loth;
Đây là dòng dõi Tha-rê: Tha-rê sinh Áp-ram, Na-cô, và Ha-ran. Ha-ran sinh Lót.
28 and Aran diede bifore Thare, his fadir, in the lond of his natiuite, in Vr of Caldeis.
Ha-ran mất sớm tại quê hương (xứ U-rơ của người Canh-đê), khi Tha-rê hãy còn sống.
29 Forsothe Abram and Nachor weddiden wyues; the name of the wijf of Abram was Saray, and the name of the wiif of Nachor was Melcha, the douyter of Aran, fadir of Melcha and fadir of Jescha.
Áp-ram và Na-cô cưới vợ. Vợ Áp-ram là Sa-rai; vợ Na-cô là Minh-ca, con gái Ha-ran. Em Minh-ca là Ích-ca.
30 Sotheli Saray was bareyn, and hadde no children.
Sa-rai son sẻ, không có con.
31 And so Thare took Abram, his sone, and Loth, the sone of Aran his sone, and Saray, his douyter in lawe, the wijf of Abram, his sone, and ledde hem out of Vr of Caldeis, that thei schulen go in to the lond of Chanaan; and thei camen `til to Aran, and dwelliden there.
Tha-rê đem con trai là Áp-ram, con dâu Sa-rai (vợ của Áp-ram), và cháu nội là Lót (con trai Ha-ran) ra khỏi U-rơ của người Canh-đê, để đến xứ Ca-na-an. Khi đến xứ Ha-ran, họ định cư.
32 And the daies of Thare weren maad two hundrid yeer and fyue, and he was deed in Aran.
Tha-rê thọ 205 tuổi và qua đời tại Ha-ran.
