Galatians 4
1 But Y seie, as long tyme as the eir is a litil child, he dyuersith no thing fro a seruaunt, whanne he is lord of alle thingis;
Digo, pues, ahora: Mientras el heredero es niño, en nada difiere del esclavo, aunque es señor de todo,
2 but he is vndur keperis and tutoris, in to the tyme determyned of the fadir.
sino que está bajo tutores y administradores, hasta el tiempo señalado anticipadamente por su padre.
3 So we, whanne we weren litle children, we serueden vndur the elementis of the world.
Así también nosotros, cuando éramos niños, estábamos bajo los elementos del mundo, sujetos a servidumbre.
4 But aftir that the fulfilling of tyme cam, God sente his sone,
Mas cuando vino la plenitud del tiempo, envió Dios a su Hijo, formado de, mujer, puesto bajo la Ley,
5 maad of a womman, maad vndur the lawe, that he schulde ayenbie hem that weren vndur the lawe, that we schulden vnderfonge the adopcioun of sones.
para que redimiese a los que estaban bajo la Ley, a fin de que recibiésemos la adopción de hijos.
6 And for ye ben Goddis sones, God sente his spirit in to youre hertis, criynge, Abba, fadir.
Y porque sois hijos, envió Dios a vuestros corazones el Espíritu de su Hijo, que clama: “¡Abba, Padre!”
7 And so ther is not now a seruaunt, but a sone; and if he is a sone, he is an eir bi God.
De modo que ya no eres esclavo, sino hijo; y si hijo, también heredero por merced de Dios.
8 But thanne ye vnknowynge God, serueden to hem that in kynde weren not goddis.
En aquel tiempo, cuando no conocíais a Dios, servisteis a los que por su naturaleza no son dioses.
9 But now whanne ye han knowe God, and ben knowun of God, hou ben ye turned eftsoone to the febil and nedi elementis, to the whiche ye wolen eft serue?
Mas ahora que habéis conocido a Dios, o mejor, habéis sido conocidos de Dios, ¿cómo los volvéis de nuevo a aquellos débiles y pobres elementos, a que deseáis otra vez servir como antes?
10 Ye taken kepe to daies, and monethis, and tymes, and yeris.
Mantenéis la observancia de días, y meses, y tiempos, y años.
11 But Y drede you, lest without cause Y haue trauelid among you.
Tengo miedo de vosotros, no sea que en vano me haya afanado con vosotros.
12 Be ye as Y, for Y am as ye. Britheren, Y biseche you, ye han hurt me no thing.
Os ruego, hermanos, que os hagáis como yo, pues yo también soy como vosotros. No me habéis hecho ninguna injusticia.
13 But ye knowen, that bi infirmyte of fleisch Y haue prechid to you now bifore;
Ya sabéis que cuando os prediqué la primera vez el Evangelio lo hice en enfermedad de la carne;
14 and ye dispiseden not, nether forsoken youre temptacioun in my fleisch, but ye resseyueden me as an aungel of God, as `Crist Jhesu.
y lo que en mi carne era para vosotros una prueba, no lo despreciasteis ni lo escupisteis, sino que me recibisteis como a un ángel de Dios, como a Cristo Jesús.
15 Where thanne is youre blessyng? For Y bere you witnesse, that if it myyte haue be don. ye wolden haue put out youre iyen, and haue yyuen hem to me.
¿Dónde está ahora vuestro entusiasmo? Porque os doy testimonio de que entonces, de haberos sido posible, os habríais sacado los ojos para dármelos.
16 Am Y thanne maad an enemye to you, seiynge to you the sothe?
¿De modo que me he hecho enemigo vuestro por deciros la verdad?
17 Thei louen not you wel, but thei wolen exclude you, that ye suen hem.
Aquellos tienen celo por vosotros, pero no para bien; al contrario, quieren sacaros fuera para que los sigáis a ellos.
18 But sue ye the good euermore in good, and not oneli whanne Y am present with you.
Bien está que se tenga celo en lo bueno, pero en todo tiempo, y no solamente mientras estoy presente con vosotros,
19 My smale children, whiche Y bere eftsoones, til that Crist be fourmed in you,
hijitos míos, por quienes vuelvo a sufrir dolores de parto, hasta que Cristo sea formado en vosotros.
20 and Y wolde now be at you, and chaunge my vois, for Y am confoundid among you.
Quisiera en esta hora estar presente entre vosotros y cambiar de tono, porque estoy preocupado por vosotros.
21 Seie to me, ye that wolen be vndir the lawe, `han ye not red the lawe?
Decidme, los que deseáis estar bajo ley, ¿no escucháis la Ley?
22 For it is writun, that Abraham hadde two sones, oon of a seruaunt, and oon of a fre womman.
Porque escrito está que Abrahán tuvo dos hijos, uno de la esclava y otro de la libre.
23 But he that was of the seruaunt, was borun after the flesh; but he that was of the fre womman, by a biheeste.
Mas el de la esclava nació según la carne, mientras que el de la libre, por la promesa.
24 The whiche thingis ben seid bi an othir vndirstonding. For these ben two testamentis; oon in the hille of Synai, gendringe in to seruage, which is Agar.
Esto es una alegoría, porque aquellas mujeres son dos testamentos: el uno del monte Sinaí, que engendra para servidumbre, el cual es Agar.
25 For Syna is an hille that is in Arabie, which hille is ioyned to it that is now Jerusalem, and seruith with hir children.
El Sinaí es un monte en Arabia y corresponde a la Jerusalén de ahora, porque ella con sus hijos está en esclavitud.
26 But that Jerusalem that is aboue, is fre, whiche is oure modir.
Mas la Jerusalén de arriba es libre, y esta es nuestra madre.
27 For it is writun, Be glad, thou bareyn, that berist not; breke out and crye, that bringist forth no children; for many sones ben of hir that is left of hir hosebonde, more than of hir that hath an hosebonde.
Porque escrito está: “Regocíjate, oh estéril, que no das a luz; prorrumpe en júbilo y clama, tú que no conoces los dolores de parto; porque más son los hijos de la abandonada que los de aquella que tiene marido”.
28 For, britheren, we ben sones of biheeste aftir Isaac;
Vosotros, hermanos, sois hijos de la promesa a semejanza de Isaac.
29 but now as this that was borun after the fleisch pursuede him that was aftir the spirit, so now.
Mas así como entonces el que nació según la carne perseguía al que nació según el Espíritu, así es también ahora.
30 But what seith the scripture? Caste out the seruaunt and hir sone, for the sone of the seruaunt schal not be eir with the sone of the fre wijf.
Pero ¿qué dice la Escritura? “Echa fuera a la esclava y a su hijo, porque no heredará el hijo de la esclava con el hijo de la libre”.
31 And so, britheren, we ben not sones of the seruaunt, but of the fre wijf, bi which fredom Crist hath maad vs fre.
Por consiguiente, hermanos, no somos hijos de la esclava, sino de la libre.
