1 Forsothe these ben the sones of prouynce, that stieden fro the caitifte, which Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, hadde translatid in to Babiloyne; and thei turneden ayen in to Jerusalem and in to Juda, ech man in to his citee, that camen with Zorobabel;
Dies sind die Kinder der Landschaft, die heraufzogen aus der Gefangenschaft, die Nebukadnezar, der König zu Babel, hatte gen Babel geführt und die wieder gen Jerusalem und nach Juda kamen, ein jeglicher in seine Stadt,

Aller Tempelknechte und Kinder der Knechte Salomos waren zusammen dreihundert und zweiundneunzig.

Und diese zogen auch mit herauf von Thel-Melah, Thel-Harsa, Cherub, Addon und Immer, aber sie konnten nicht anzeigen ihr Vaterhaus noch ihr Geschlecht, ob sie aus Israel wären:

Die suchten ihre Geburtsregister, und fanden keine; darum wurden sie untüchtig geachtet zum Priestertum.

Und der Landpfleger sprach zu ihnen, sie sollten nicht essen vom Hochheiligen, bis ein Priester aufstände mit dem Licht und Recht.

Der ganzen Gemeinde wie ein Mann waren zweiundvierzigtausend und dreihundertundsechzig.
65 outakun the seruauntis of hem and `the handmaydis, that weren seuene thousynde thre hundrid and seuene and thretti; and among hem weren syngeris and syngeressis twei hundrid.
ausgenommen ihre Knechte und Mägde, derer waren siebentausend dreihundert und siebenunddreißig, dazu zweihundert Sänger und Sängerinnen.
66 The horsis of hem weren sixe hundrid and sixe and thritti; the mulis of hem weren foure hundrid and fyue and fourti;
Und hatten siebenhundert und sechsunddreißig Rosse, zweihundert und fünfundvierzig Maultiere,
67 the camels of hem weren foure hundrid and fyue and thritti; the assis of hem weren sixe thousynde seuene hundrid and twenti.
vierhundert und fünfunddreißig Kamele und sechstausend und siebenhundertzwanzig Esel.
68 And of the princes of fadris, whanne thei entriden in to the temple of the Lord, which is in Jerusalem, thei offriden of fre wille in to the hows of God, to bilde it in his place;
Und etliche Oberste der Vaterhäuser, da sie kamen zum Hause des Herrn zu Jerusalem, gaben sie freiwillig zum Hause Gottes, daß man's setzte auf seine Stätte,
69 thei yauen `bi her myytes the costis of the werk, oon and fourti thousynde platis of gold; fyue thousynde besauntis of siluer; and preestis clothis an hundrid.
und gaben nach ihrem Vermögen zum Schatz fürs Werk einundsechzigtausend Goldgulden und fünftausend Pfund Silber und hundert Priesterröcke.
70 Therfor preestis and dekenes of the puple, and syngeris, and porteris, and Nathynneis dwelliden in her citees, and al Israel in her cytees.
Also setzten sich die Priester und die Leviten und die vom Volk und die Sänger und die Torhüter und die Tempelknechte in ihre Städte und alles Israel in seine Städte.
