Ezra 2
1 Forsothe these ben the sones of prouynce, that stieden fro the caitifte, which Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, hadde translatid in to Babiloyne; and thei turneden ayen in to Jerusalem and in to Juda, ech man in to his citee, that camen with Zorobabel;
Dit zijn de bewoners der provincie, die weggetrokken zijn uit de ballingschap in Babel, waarheen Nabukodonosor, de koning van Babel, hen had weggevoerd, en die zijn teruggekeerd naar Jerusalem in Juda, iedereen naar zijn eigen stad.

Het zijn degenen, die teruggekomen zijn met Zorobabel, Jesjóea, Nehemias, Seraja, Reëlaja, Mordekai, Bilsjan, Mispar, Bigwai, Rechoem en Baäna. Het aantal mannen uit het volk van Israël was als volgt:

de zonen van Páchat-Moab, de zonen namelijk van Jesjóea en Joab, acht en twintighonderd en twaalf;

de zonen van Elam, twaalfhonderd vier en vijftig;
8 the sones of Zechua, nyne hundrid and fyue and fourti;
de zonen van Zattoe, negenhonderd vijf en veertig;
9 the sones of Zahai, seuene hundrid and sixti;
de zonen van Zakkai, zevenhonderd zestig;
10 the sones of Bany, sixe hundrid and two and fourti;
de zonen van Bani, zeshonderd twee en veertig;

de zonen van den anderen Elam, twaalfhonderd vier en vijftig;

de burgers van Lod, Chadid en Ono, zevenhonderd vijf en twintig;

de burgers van Jericho, driehonderd vijf en veertig;
35 the sones of Sanaa, thre thousynde sixe hundrid and thritti;
de zonen van Senaä, zes en dertighonderd dertig.
36 preestis, the sones of Idaie, in the hows of Jesue, nyne hundrid and thre and seuenti;
De priesters: de zonen van Jedaja, uit het geslacht van Jesjóea telden negenhonderd drie en zeventig man;
37 the sones of Emmeor, a thousynde and two and fifti; the sones of Phesur,
de zonen van Immer, duizend twee en vijftig;
38 a thousynde two hundrid and seuene and fourti;
de zonen van Pasjchoer, twaalfhonderd zeven en veertig;
39 the sones of Arym, a thousynde and seuentene; dekenes,
de zonen van Charim, duizend zeventien.
40 the sones of Jesue and of Cedynyel, sones of Odonye, foure and seuenti; syngeris,
De levieten: de zonen van Jesjóea, Kadmiël en Hodawja telden vier en zeventig man.

De zangers: de zonen van Asaf telden honderd acht en twintig man.
42 the sones of porteris, sones of Sellum, sones of Ather, sones of Thelmon, sones of Accub, sones of Aritha, sones of Sobar, sones of Sobai, alle weren an hundrid and eiyte and thritty;
De poortwachters: de zonen van Sjalloem, de zonen van Ater, de zonen van Talmon, de zonen van Akkoeb, de zonen van Chatita en de zonen van Sjobai telden tezamen honderd negen en dertig man.

De tempelknechten waren: de zonen van Sicha; de zonen van Chasoefa; de zonen van Tabbaot;

de zonen van Basloet; de zonen van Mechida; de zonen van Charsja;
53 sones of Bercos, sones of Sisara, sones of Thema,

de zonen van Nesiach; de zonen van Chatifa.
55 the sones of the seruauntis of Salomon, the sones of Sothelthei, the sones of Soforeth, the sones of Pharuda, the sones of Asa,
De zonen van Salomons slaven waren: de zonen van Sotai; de zonen van Soféret; de zonen van Perida;
56 the sones of Delcon, the sones of Gedeb,
de zonen van Jaäla; de zonen van Darkon; de zonen van Giddel;
57 the sones of Saphata, the sones of Atil, the sones of Phecerethi, that weren of Asebam, the sones of Ammy;
de zonen van Sjefatja; de zonen van Chattil; de zonen van Pokéret-Hassebajim; de zonen van Ami.
58 alle the Nathyneis, and the sones of the seruauntis of Salomon weren thre hundrid nynti and tweyne.
De tempelknechten telden met de zonen van Salomons slaven tezamen driehonderd twee en negentig man.
59 And thei that stieden fro Thelmela, Thelersa, Cherub, and Don, and Mey, and myyten not schewe the hows of her fadris and her seed, whether thei weren of Israel;
De volgende zijn wel mee opgetrokken uit Tel-Mélach, Tel-Charsja, Keroeb, Addon en Immer, maar ze konden hun familie- en stamboom niet overleggen als bewijs, dat zij tot Israël behoorden. Het waren:
60 the sones of Delaya, the sones of Thobie, the sones of Nethoda, sixe hundrid and two and fifti;
de zonen van Delaja; de zonen van Tobi-ja; de zonen van Nekoda: zeshonderd twee en vijftig man.

Uit de priesterzonen: de zonen van Chabaja; de zonen van Hakkos; de zonen van Barzillai, die getrouwd was met een der dochters van Barzillai uit Gilad, en naar hem werd genoemd.

en verbood hun de landvoogd, van de heilige spijzen te eten, totdat er een priester met de Oerim en Toemmim zou optreden.

De hele gemeente bestond uit twee enveertigduizend driehonderd zestig personen.
65 outakun the seruauntis of hem and `the handmaydis, that weren seuene thousynde thre hundrid and seuene and thretti; and among hem weren syngeris and syngeressis twei hundrid.
Hierbij kwamen nog zevenduizend driehonderd zeven en dertig slaven en slavinnen, en tweehonderd zangers en zangeressen.
66 The horsis of hem weren sixe hundrid and sixe and thritti; the mulis of hem weren foure hundrid and fyue and fourti;
Men bezat zevenhonderd zes en dertig paarden, tweehonderd vijf en veertig muilezels,
67 the camels of hem weren foure hundrid and fyue and thritti; the assis of hem weren sixe thousynde seuene hundrid and twenti.
vierhonderd vijf en dertig kamelen en zesduizend zevenhonderd twintig ezels.
68 And of the princes of fadris, whanne thei entriden in to the temple of the Lord, which is in Jerusalem, thei offriden of fre wille in to the hows of God, to bilde it in his place;
Toen men bij de tempel van Jahweh te Jerusalem was aangekomen, brachten sommige familiehoofden vrijwillige schenkingen voor de tempel van God, om hem op zijn plaats te doen herrijzen.
69 thei yauen `bi her myytes the costis of the werk, oon and fourti thousynde platis of gold; fyue thousynde besauntis of siluer; and preestis clothis an hundrid.
Ook droeg men naar vermogen bij aan het fonds, dat voor de eredienst was bestemd: voor een en zestigduizend drachmen7 aan goud, voor vijfduizend mina aan zilver, en honderd priestergewaden.
70 Therfor preestis and dekenes of the puple, and syngeris, and porteris, and Nathynneis dwelliden in her citees, and al Israel in her cytees.
Daarna gingen de priesters, de levieten met een deel van het volk, de zangers, de poortwachters en de tempelknechten zich te Jerusalem vestigen, en de rest van Israël in hun steden.
