Ezekiel 8
1 And it was doon in the sixte yeer, in the sixte monethe, in the fyuethe dai of the monethe, Y sat in myn hous, and the elde men of Juda saten bifore me; and the hond of the Lord God felle there on me.
C’Était dans la sixième année, le cinquième jour du sixième mois, j’étais assis dans ma maison et les anciens de Juda étaient assis en face de moi, quand s’abaissa là sur moi la main du Seigneur.
2 And Y siy, and lo! a licnesse as the biholdyng of fier; fro the biholding of hise leendis and bynethe was fier, and fro hise leendis and aboue was as the biholdyng of schynyng, as the siyt of electre.
Et je vis soudain une forme qui avait comme l’apparence d’un feu; depuis ce qui semblait ses reins jusqu’en bas. C’Était du feu, et depuis ses reins jusqu’en haut, cela apparaissait comme une splendeur, comme une sorte de hachmal.
3 And the licnesse of an hond was sent out, and took me bi the heer of myn heed; and the spirit reiside me bitwixe heuene and erthe, and brouyte me in to Jerusalem, in the siyt of God, bisidis the ynnere dore that bihelde to the north, where the idol of enuye was set, to stire indignacioun.
Et elle étendit une forme de main et me saisit par les tresses de ma tête et un souffle m’emporta entre terre et ciel et m’amena à Jérusalem dans des visions divines, à l’entrée de la porte intérieure qui regarde vers le Nord, où est placée l’idole de la jalousie irritante.
4 And lo! the glorie of God of Israel was there, bi siyt which Y siy in the feeld.
Et il y avait là la gloire du Dieu d’Israël pareille à l’apparition que j’avais vue dans la Plaine.
5 And he seide to me, Thou, sone of man, reise thin iyen to the weie of the north; and Y reiside myn iyen to the weie of the north, and lo! fro the north of the yate of the auter the idol of enuye was in that entryng.
Et il me dit: "Fils de l’homme, lève donc les yeux dans la direction du Nord;" je levai les yeux dans la direction du Nord, et voici que du côté du Nord, à la porte de l’autel, il y avait cette statue de la jalousie à l’entrée.
6 And he seide to me, Sone of man, gessist thou whether thou seest what thing these men doon, the grete abhomynaciouns whiche the hous of Israel doith here, that Y go fer awei fro my seyntuarie? and yit thou schalt turne, and schalt se grettere abhomynaciouns.
Et il me dit: "Fils de l’homme, vois-tu ce qu’ils font, les grandes abominations que la maison d’Israël commet ici pour que je m’éloigne de mon sanctuaire? Et tu verras encore d’autres grandes abominations."
7 And he ledde me with ynne to the dore of the halle; and Y siy, and lo! oon hoole in the wal.
Il me mena à l’entrée de la cour et je vis qu’il y avait un trou dans le mur.
8 And he seide to me, Sone of man, digge thou the wal; and whanne Y hadde diggid the wal, o dore apperide.
Et il me dit: "Fils de l’homme, creuse donc dans le mur," et je creusai dans le mur, et voici qu’il y avait une entrée.
9 And he seide to me, Entre thou, and se the worste abhomynaciouns, whiche these men doon here.
Et il me dit: "Entre et vois les exécrables abominations qu’ils commettent ici."
10 And Y entride, and siy; and lo! ech licnesse of `crepynge beestis, and abhomynacioun of beestis, and alle idols of the hous of Israel, weren peyntid in the wal al aboute in cumpas.
J’Entrai et je vis qu’il y avait toutes les formes de reptiles et d’animaux immondes, et toutes les idoles de la maison d’Israël gravées sur le mur, tout alentour.
11 And seuenti men of the eldere of the hous of Israel stoden; and Jeconye, the sone of Saphan, stood in the myddis of hem, stondynge bifore the peyntyngis; and ech man hadde a censere in his hond, and the smoke of a cloude of encense stiede.
Et soixante-dix hommes des anciens de la maison d’Israël, avec Yaazania, fils de Schafan, debout parmi eux, se tenaient devant elles, chacun son encensoir à la main, et un épais nuage d’encens s’élevait.
12 And he seide to me, Certis, sone of man, thou seest what thingis the eldere men of the hous of Israel doen in derknessis, ech man in the hid place of his bed; for thei seiyn, The Lord seeth not vs, the Lord hath forsake the lond.
Et il me dit: "As-tu vu, fils de l’homme, ce que les anciens d’Israël font dans les ténèbres, chacun dans ses chambres d’images? Car, disent-ils, l’Eternel ne nous voit pas, l’Eternel a abandonné le pays!"
13 And the Lord seide to me, Yit thou schalt turne, and schalt se gretter abhomynaciouns, whiche these men doon.
Et il me dit: "Tu verras encore d’autres grandes abominations qu’ils commettent."
14 And he ledde me with ynne, bi the dore of the yate of the hous of the Lord, which dore bihelde to the north; and lo! wymmen saten there, biweilynge Adonydes.
Il me mena à l’entrée de la maison de l’Eternel qui regarde au nord, et voici que des femmes y étaient assises, pleurant le Tammouz.
15 And the Lord seide to me, Certis, sone of man, thou hast seyn; yit thou schalt turne, and schalt se gretere abhomynaciouns than these.
Et il me dit: "As-tu vu, fils de l’homme? Tu verras encore des abominations plus grandes que celles-là."
16 And he ledde me with ynne, in to the ynnere halle of the hous of the Lord; and lo! in the dore of the temple of the Lord, bitwixe the porche and the auter, weren as fyue and twenti men hauynge the backis ayens the temple of the Lord, and her faces to the eest; and thei worschipiden at the risyng of the sunne.
Il me fit entrer dans la cour intérieure de la maison de l’Eternel, et voici qu’à l’entrée du sanctuaire de l’Eternel, entre le parvis et l’autel, il y avait quelque vingt-cinq hommes qui avaient le dos tourné au sanctuaire de l’Eternel et la face vers l’Orient, et ils se prosternaient vers l’Orient devant le soleil.
17 And the Lord seide to me, Certis, sone of man, thou hast seyn; whether this is a liyt thing to the hous of Juda, that thei schulden do these abhomynaciouns, whiche thei diden here? For thei filliden the lond with wickidnesse, and turneden to terre me to wraththe; and lo! thei applien a braunche to her nose thirlis.
Et il me dit: "As-tu vu, fils de l’homme? Est-ce trop peu de chose pour la maison de Juda de faire les abominations qu’ils ont faites ici, pour qu’ils remplissent le pays de violence et recommencent à m’irriter? Et voilà qu’ils portent les rameaux à leur nez.
18 Therfor and Y schal do in strong veniaunce; myn iye schal not spare, nether Y schal do merci; and whanne thei schulen crie to myn eris with greet vois, Y schal not here hem.
Et moi aussi j’agirai avec colère, mon oeil ne sera pas indulgent et je n’aurai pas pitié; ils crieront à mes oreilles à grand bruit mais je ne les écouterai point."
