Ezekiel 35
1 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
2 and he seide, Thou, sone of man, sette thi face ayens the hil of Seir; and thou schalt profesie to it, and thou schalt seie to it,
Fils d'homme, tourne ta face vers la montagne de Séir, prophétise contre elle,
3 The Lord God seith these thingis, Thou hil of Seir, lo! Y to thee; Y schal stretche forth myn hond on thee, and Y schal yyue thee desolat and forsakun.
et dis-lui: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Voici, j'en veux à toi, montagne de Séir, et j'étendrai ma main contre toi. Je ferai de toi un objet de désolation et d'épouvante.
4 Y schal distrie thi citees, and thou schalt be forsakun; and thou schalt wite, that Y am the Lord.
Je dévasterai tes villes, et tu seras dévastée. Alors tu sauras que je suis Yahvé.
5 For thou were an enemye euerlastynge, and closidist togidere the sonis of Israel in to the hondis of swerd, in the tyme of her turment, in the tyme of the laste wickidnesse;
"« Parce que tu as eu une hostilité perpétuelle, et que tu as livré les enfants d'Israël au pouvoir de l'épée au temps de leur calamité, au temps de l'iniquité de la fin,
6 therfor Y lyue, seith the Lord God, for Y schal yyue thee to blood, and blood schal pursue thee; and sithen thou hatidist blood, blood schal pursue thee.
c'est pourquoi, je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur Yahvé, je te préparerai au sang, et le sang te poursuivra. Puisque vous n'avez pas haï le sang, c'est le sang qui vous poursuivra.
7 And Y schal yyue the hil of Seir desolat and forsakun, and Y schal take awei fro it a goere and a comere ayen;
Ainsi, je ferai de la montagne de Séir un objet d'étonnement et de désolation. J'en retrancherai celui qui y passe et celui qui y retourne.
8 and Y schal fille the hillis therof with the careyns of her slayn men. Men slayn by swerd schulen falle doun in thi litle hillis, and in thi valeys, and in thi strondis.
Je remplirai ses montagnes de ses morts. Les morts par l'épée tomberont dans tes collines, dans tes vallées et dans tous tes cours d'eau.
9 Y schal yyue thee in to euerlastynge wildirnessis, and thi citees schulen not be enhabitid; and ye schulen wite, that Y am the Lord God.
Je ferai de toi une désolation perpétuelle, et tes villes ne seront pas habitées. Alors tu sauras que je suis Yahvé.
10 For thou seidist, Twei folkis and twei londis schulen be myne, and Y schal welde tho bi eritage, whanne the Lord was there;
« Parce que vous avez dit: Ces deux nations et ces deux pays seront à moi, et nous en prendrons possession, alors que Yahvé était là,
11 therfor Y lyue, seith the Lord God, for Y schal do bi thi wraththe, and bi thin enuye, which thou didist, hatinge hem, and Y schal be made knowun bi hem, whanne Y schal deme thee;
c'est pourquoi, je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur Yahvé, j'agirai selon votre colère et selon la jalousie que vous avez manifestée par votre haine contre eux, et je me ferai connaître au milieu d'eux quand je vous jugerai.
12 and thou schalt wite, that Y am the Lord. Y herde alle thi schenschipis, whiche thou spakist of the hillis of Israel, and seidist, The hillis of Israel ben forsakun, and ben youun to vs, for to deuoure.
Vous saurez que moi, Yahvé, j'ai entendu toutes les injures que vous avez proférées contre les montagnes d'Israël, en disant: « Elles ont été dévastées. On nous les a données à dévorer ».
13 And ye han rise on me with youre mouth, and ye han deprauyd ayens me; Y herde youre wordis.
Vous vous êtes glorifiés contre moi par votre bouche, et vous avez multiplié vos paroles contre moi. Je l'ai entendu. »
14 The Lord God seith these thingis, While al the lond is glad, Y schal turne thee in to wildernesse.
Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Quand toute la terre se réjouira, je te réduirai en désolation.
15 As thou haddist ioie on the eritage of the hous of Israel, for it was distried, so Y schal do to thee; the hil of Seir schal be distried, and al Ydumee; and thei schulen wite, that Y am the Lord.
Comme vous vous êtes réjouis de l'héritage de la maison d'Israël parce qu'il était dévasté, ainsi je vous traiterai. Tu seras dévasté, ainsi que la montagne de Séir et tout Édom, tout entier. Alors ils sauront que je suis Yahvé.'"
