Ezekiel 28
1 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
Het woord van Jahweh werd tot mij gericht.
2 and he seide, Sone of man, seie thou to the prince of Tire, The Lord God seith these thingis, For thin herte was reisid, and thou seidist, Y am God, and Y sat in the chaier of God, in the herte of the see, sithen thou art man and not God, and thou yauest thin herte as the herte of God; lo!
Mensenkind, ge moet tot den vorst van Tyrus zeggen: Zo spreekt Jahweh, de Heer! Uw hart was hoogmoedig; Ge hebt gemeend: Ik ben een god! Een godenwoning bezit ik Midden in zee! En hoewel ge maar een mens zijt, geen god, Verbeeldt ge u, god te zijn:
3 thou art wisere than Danyel, ech priuetee is not hid fro thee;
Wijzer dan Daniël te wezen, Zodat geen geheim u verborgen blijft.
4 in thi wisdom and prudence thou madist to thee strengthe, and thou gatist to thee gold and siluer in thi tresouris;
Door uw wijsheid en doorzicht Hebt ge u vermogen verworven, En goud en zilver opgehoopt In uw schatkamers.
5 in the multitude of thi wisdom, and in thi marchaundie thou multipliedist to thee strengthe, and thin herte was reisid in thi strengthe;
Omdat ge zoveel verstand hadt van handel, Hebt ge uw vermogen vermeerderd, En zijt ge hoogmoedig geworden Op uw rijkdom.
6 therfor the Lord God seith these thingis, For thin herte was reisid as the herte of God, therfor lo!
Daarom spreekt Jahweh, de Heer: Omdat ge u inbeeldt, Een god te zijn:
7 Y schal brynge on thee aliens, the strongeste of hethene. And thei schulen make nakid her swerdis on the fairnesse of thi wisdom, and thei schulen defoule thi fairnesse.
Daarom laat Ik vreemden op u los, De meest-barbaarse volken. Die trekken hun zwaarden tegen uw heerlijke wijsheid, En zullen uw luister besmeuren;
8 Thei schulen sle, and drawe doun thee; and thou schalt die bi the deth of vncircumcidid men, in the herte of the see.
In de groeve werpen ze u neer, In volle zee zult ge worden verslagen en sterven. Zult ge dan nog roepen: Ik ben god!
9 Whether thou schalt seie, and speke, Y am God, bifore hem that sleen thee; sithen thou art a man, and not God?
Wanneer ge voor uw beulen staat; Terwijl ge maar een mens blijkt te zijn, geen god, In de handen van uw moordenaars?
10 In the hond of hem that sleen thee, bi deth of vncircumcidid men, thou schalt die in the hond of aliens; for Y the Lord spak, seith the Lord God.
De dood der onbesnedenen zult ge sterven Door de handen van vreemden! Waarachtig, Ik heb het gezegd, Is de godsspraak van Jahweh!
11 And the word of the Lord was maad to me, and he seide, Thou, sone of man, reise thou weilyng on the kyng of Tire;
Het woord van Jahweh werd tot mij gericht.
12 and thou schalt seie to hym, The Lord God seith these thingis, Thou a preente of licnesse, ful of wisdom, perfit in fairnesse,
Mensenkind, ge moet over den koning van Tyrus een klaaglied aanheffen, en hem zeggen: Zo spreekt Jahweh, de Heer! Gij waart de keur der schepping, Van wijsheid vervuld, van volmaakte schoonheid.
13 were in delicis of paradijs of God. Ech preciouse stoon was thin hilyng, sardius, topacius, and iaspis, crisolitus, and onix, and birille, safire, and carbuncle, and smaragde; also gold was the werk of thi fairnesse, and thin hoolis weren maad redi, in the dai in which thou were maad.
Gij bevondt u in Eden, de godentuin; Uw gewaad was met allerlei kostbare stenen bezet. Robijn, topaas, jaspis, chrysoliet, Onyx, jaspis, saffier, karbonkel, In goud gevat en gekast, Werden u opgezet op de dag uwer schepping.
14 Thou were cherub holdun forth, and hilynge; and Y settide thee in the hooli hil of God. In the myddis of stoonus set a fier thou yedist,
Een cherub met uitgespreide vleugels Had Ik u tot schutse gegeven; Ge waart op de heilige godenberg, En wandelde tussen vurige stenen.
15 perfit in thi weies fro the dai of thi makyng, til wickidnesse was foundun in thee.
Ge waart onberispelijk sinds de dag uwer schepping, Totdat ge op onrecht werdt betrapt,
16 In the multitude of thi marchaundie thin ynnere thingis weren fillid of wickidnesse, and thou didist synne; and Y castide thee out of the hil of God, and, thou cherub hilynge fer, Y loste thee fro the myddis of stoonys set a fier.
En door uw uitgebreide handel U aan onrechtvaardige winst hebt bezondigd. Daarom heb Ik u onteerd, Verdreef Ik u van de heilige godenberg; En heeft de beschermende cherub u verjaagd, Uit het midden der vurige stenen.
17 And thin herte was reisid in thi fairnesse, thou lostist thi wisdom in thi fairnesse. Y castide thee doun in to erthe, Y yaf thee bifore the face of kingis, that thei schulden se thee.
Uw hart ging groot op uw pracht, En uw wijsheid hebt ge vergooid om uw luister; Daarom heb Ik u ter aarde geworpen, U voor het gezicht van koningen te kijk gesteld.
18 In the multitude of thi wickidnessis, and in wickidnesse of thi marchaundie thou defoulidist thin halewyng; therfor Y schal brynge forth fier of the myddis of thee, that schal ete thee; and Y schal yyue thee in to aische on erthe, in the siyt of alle men seynge thee.
Door uw grote schuld en slechte praktijken Hebt ge uw heiligdommen ontwijd; Daarom riep Ik een vuur uit u op, dat u verteerde, Legde Ik u in as op de aarde, voor de ogen van al die u zagen.
19 Alle men that schulen se thee among hethene men, schulen be astonyed on thee; thou art maad nouyt, and thou schalt not be with outen ende.
En allen, die u kenden onder de volken, Staan stom van ontzetting om u; Een spookbeeld zijt ge geworden, Verdwenen voor eeuwig!
20 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
Het woord van Jahweh werd tot mij gericht.
21 and he seide, Thou, sone of man, sette thi face ayens Sidon, and thou schalt profesie of it;
Mensenkind, ge moet uw gelaat richten naar Sidon; profeteer tegen haar
22 and schalt seie, The Lord God seith these thingis, Lo! Y to thee, Sidon, and Y schal be glorified in the myddis of thee; and thei schulen wite, that Y am the Lord, whanne Y schal do domes in it, and Y schal be halewid ther ynne.
en zeg: Zo spreekt Jahweh, de Heer! Sidon, Ik kom op u af, en zal Mij in uw midden verheerlijken, opdat men erkenne, dat Ik Jahweh ben, als Ik in haar gerichten voltrek, aan haar mijn heiligheid bewijs.
23 And Y schal sende pestilence in to it, and blood in the stretis therof, and slayn men bi swerd schulen falle doun in the myddis therof bi cumpas; and thei schulen wite, that Y am the Lord God.
Pest stuur Ik op haar af, en bloed op haar straten. Binnen haar midden zullen verslagenen vallen, als het zwaard aan alle kanten tegen haar woedt. Zo zullen ze erkennen, dat Ik Jahweh ben!
24 And there schal no more be an hirtyng of bitternesse to the hous of Israel, and a thorn bryngynge in sorewe on ech side bi the cumpas of hem that ben aduersaries to hem; and thei schulen wite, that Y am the Lord God.
Dan zal er voor het huis van Israël geen pijnlijke prikkel en geen smartelijke doorn meer zijn van de kant van alle omliggende volken, die het verachten. Zo zullen ze erkennen, dat Ik Jahweh ben!
25 The Lord God seith these thingis, Whanne Y schal gadere togidere the hous of Israel fro puplis, among whiche thei ben scaterid, Y schal be halewid in hem bifor hethene men. And thei schulen dwelle in her lond, which Y yaf to my seruaunt Jacob.
Dit zegt Jahweh, de Heer: Als Ik het huis van Israël uit de volken, waaronder ze verstrooid zijn, bijeen heb gebracht, dan zal Ik door hen mijn heiligheid bewijzen ten aanschouwen van de volken, en zullen zij zich vestigen op hun eigen grond, die Ik aan mijn dienaar Jakob gegeven heb.
26 And thei schulen dwelle sikir ther ynne, and thei schulen bilde housis, and thei schulen plaunte vynes, and thei schulen dwelle tristili, whanne Y schal make domes in alle men that ben aduersaries to hem bi cumpas; and thei schulen wite, that Y am the Lord God of hem.
Daar zullen ze veilig wonen en huizen bouwen, wijngaarden planten en zich veilig voelen, als Ik de strafgerichten heb voltrokken aan al hun buren, die hen veracht hebben. Zo zullen zij erkennen, dat Ik, Jahweh, hun Heer ben!
