Ezekiel 22
1 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:
2 and he seide, And thou, sone of man, whether thou demest not the citee of bloodis?
Et toi, fils d’un homme, est-ce que tu ne juges pas la cité du sang?
3 And thou schalt schewe to it alle hise abhomynaciouns, and thou schalt seie, The Lord God seith these thingis, This is a citee schedinge out blood in the myddis of it silf, that the tyme therof come; and which made idols ayens it silf, that it shulde be defoulid.
Et tu lui montreras toutes ses abominations, et tu diras: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Une cité répandant le sang au milieu d’elle, afin que vienne son temps, et qui a fait des idoles contre elle-même, afin de se souiller,
4 In thi blood which is shed out of thee, thou trespassidist, and thou art defoulid in thin idols whiche thou madist; and thou madist thi daies to neiye, and thou brouytist the time of thi yeeris. Therfor Y yaf thee schenschipe to hethene men, and scornyng to alle londis that ben niy thee,
Par le sang qui par toi a été répandu, tu t’es rendue coupable, et par les idoles que tu as faites tu t’es souillée, et tu as avancé tes jours et amené le temps de tes années; à cause de cela, je t’ai rendue l’opprobre des nations et la dérision de tous les pays.
5 and that ben fer fro thee; thou foul citee, noble, greet in perisching, thei schulen haue victorie of thee.
Ceux qui sont près et ceux qui sont loin de toi triompheront de toi, souillée, noble, grande par ta ruine.
6 Lo! princes of Israel, alle in her arm, weren in thee, to schede out blood.
Voilà que les princes d’Israël ont usé chacun de leur bras chez toi, pour répandre le sang.
7 Thei punyschiden with wrongis fadir and modir in thee, thei calengiden falsli a comelyng in the myddis of thee, thei maden sori a fadirles child and a widewe at thee.
Ils ont accablé d’outrages père et mère au milieu de toi; ils ont calomnié l’étranger au milieu de toi, et ils ont contristé la veuve et l’orphelin chez toi.
8 Ye dispisiden my seyntuaries, and ye defouliden my sabatis.
Tu as méprisé mes sanctuaires, et souillé mes sabbats.
9 Men bacbiteris weren in thee, to schede out blood, and eten on hillis in thee; thei wrouyten greet trespas in the myddis of thee.
Des hommes détracteurs ont été chez toi pour répandre le sang; et sur les montagnes ils ont mangé chez toi, ils ont opéré le crime au milieu de toi.
10 Thei vnhiliden the schamefulere thingis of the fadir in thee, thei maden low in thee the vnclenesse of a womman in vnclene blood.
Ils ont découvert la nudité du père chez toi, ils ont humilié l’impureté de la femme qui était dans ses mois chez toi;
11 And ech man wrouyte abhomynacioun ayens the wijf of his neiybore, and the fadir of the hosebonde defoulide his sones wijf vnleuefuli; a brother oppresside in thee his sister, the douytir of his fadir.
Et chacun d’eux a commis une abomination sur la femme de son prochain, et le beau-père a souillé sa belle-fille par un crime horrible; le frère a fait violence à sa propre sœur, à la fille de son père chez toi.
12 Thei token yiftis at thee, to schede out blood; thou tokist vsure and ouerabundaunce, and thou calengidist greedili thi neiyboris, and thou hast foryete me, seith the Lord God.
Ils ont reçu des présents chez toi, pour répandre le sang; tu as reçu un intérêt et un profit de surplus; et par avarice, tu calomniais tes’proches, et tu m’as oublié, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
13 Lo! Y haue smyte togidere myn hondis on thin aueryce, which thou didist, and on the blood which is sched out in the myddis of thee.
Voici que moi j’ai frappé des mains contre ton avarice, et contre le sang qui a été répandu au milieu de toi.
14 Whether thin herte schal susteyne, ether thin hondis schulen haue power in the daies whiche Y schal make to thee? For Y the Lord spak, and Y schal do.
Est-ce que ton cœur se soutiendra, ou tes mains prévaudront-elles, aux jours malheureux que je ferai pour toi? c’est moi le Seigneur qui ai parlé, et j’exécuterai.
15 And Y schal scatere thee in to naciouns, and Y schal wyndewe thee in to londis; and Y schal make thin vnclennesse to faile fro thee,
Et Je te disperserai parmi les nations, et je te jetterai au vent dans divers pays, et je ferai disparaître ton impureté du milieu de toi.
16 and Y schal welde thee in the siyt of hethene men; and thou schalt wite, that Y am the Lord.
Et je te posséderai en présence des nations, et tu sauras que je suis le Seigneur.
17 And the word of the Lord was maad to me, and he seide,
Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:
18 Thou, sone of man, the hous of Israel is turned to me in to dros, ether filthe of irun; alle these ben bras, and tyn, and irun, and leed, in the myddis of furneis, thei ben maad the dros of siluer.
Fils d’un homme, la maison d’Israël s’est changée pour moi en scorie; tous sont de l’airain, et de l’étain, et du fer et du plomb, au milieu d’un fourneau; ils sont devenus une scorie d’argent.
19 Therfor the Lord God seith these thingis, For that alle ye ben turned in to dros, lo! Y schal gadere you togidere in the myddis of Jerusalem,
À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Parce que vous avez été tous changés en scorie, à cause de cela, voilà que moi, je vous assemblerai au milieu de Jérusalem,
20 bi gadering togidere of siluer, and of latoun, and of irun, and of tyn, and of leed, in the myddis of furneis; and Y schal kindle ther ynne a fier, to welle togidere; so Y schal gadere you togidere in my strong veniaunce, and in my wraththe, and Y schal reste. And Y schal welle you togidere,
Comme on met ensemble l’argent, et l’airain, et le plomb, et le fer, au milieu d’un fourneau; comme j’y allumerai un feu pour les fondre, ainsi je vous rassemblerai dans ma fureur et dans ma colère; et je me reposerai, et je vous fondrai;
21 and Y schal gadere you togidere, and Y schal sette you a fier in the fier of my strong veniaunce, and ye schulen be wellid togidere in the myddis therof.
Et je vous rassemblerai, et je vous embraserai par le feu de ma fureur, et vous serez fondus au milieu de Jérusalem.
22 As siluer is wellid togidere in the myddis of a furneis, so ye schulen be in the myddis therof; and ye schulen wite, that Y am the Lord, whanne Y haue sched out myn indignacioun on you.
Comme l’argent fond au milieu d’un fourneau, ainsi vous serez au milieu d’elle; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, lorsque j’aurai répandu mon indignation sur vous.
23 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:
24 and he seide, Sone of man, seie thou to it, Thou art a lond vncleene, and not bireyned in the dai of strong veniaunce.
Fils d’un homme, dis-lui: Tu es une terre impure, et qui n’a point été arrosée de pluie au jour de la fureur.
25 Sweringe togidere, ether conspiringe of profetis is in the myddis therof; as a lioun roringe and takinge prei, thei deuouriden men, thei token richessis and prijs; thei multiplieden widewis therof in the myddis therof.
La conjuration de ses prophètes est au milieu d’elle; comme un lion rugissant et ravissant une proie, ils ont dévoré les âmes, ils ont reçu des richesses et des récompenses, ils ont multiplié ses veuves au milieu d’elle.
26 Preestis therof dispisiden my lawe, and defouliden my seyntuaries; thei hadden not difference bitwixe hooli thing and vnhooli, thei vndurstoden not bitwixe defoulid thing and cleene thing; and thei turneden awei her iyen fro my sabatis, and Y was defoulid in the myddis of hem.
Ses prêtres ont méprisé ma loi, ils ont souillé mes sanctuaires; entre le saint et le profane ils n’ont pas mis de différence; et entre l’impur et le pur ils n’ont pas distingué; et de mes sabbats, ils ont détourné leurs yeux, et j’étais souillé au milieu d’eux.
27 The princes therof in the myddis therof weren as wolues rauyschinge prey, to schede out blood, and to leese men, and in suynge lucris gredili.
Ses princes sont au milieu d’elle comme des loups ravissant une proie pour répandre le sang, perdre les âmes, et par avarice courir après le gain.
28 Forsothe the profetis therof pargetiden hem with out temperure, and seyen veyn thingis, and dyuyneden leesingis to hem, and seiden, The Lord God seith these thingis, whanne the Lord spak not.
Mais ses prophètes les enduisaient sans mélange, voyant des choses vaines, et leur prédisant le mensonge, disant: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu, quoique le Seigneur n’ait point parlé.
29 The puples of the lond calengiden fals caleng, and rauyschiden bi violence; thei turmentiden a nedi man and pore, and oppressiden a comeling bi fals caleng, with out doom.
Les peuples du pays ajoutaient calomnie à calomnie, et commettaient des rapines avec violence; ils affligeaient l’indigent et le pauvre, et ils opprimaient l’étranger par la calomnie sans jugement.
30 And Y souyte of hem a man, that schulde sette an hegge bitwixe, and stonde set ayens me for the lond, that Y schulde not distrie it, and Y foond not.
Et j’ai cherche parmi eux un homme, qui mît une haie entre moi et eux, et qui se tînt opposé à moi pour cette terre, afin que je ne la détruisisse point; et je n’en ai pas trouvé.
31 And Y schedde out on hem myn indignacioun, and Y wastide hem in the fier of my wraththe; Y yeldide the weie of hem on the heed of hem, seith the Lord God.
C’est pourquoi j’ai répandu mon indignation sur eux; dans le feu de ma colère je les ai consumés, j’ai ramené leur voie sur leur tête, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
