Ezekiel 18
1 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
Me llegó un mensaje del Señor que decía:
2 and he seide, What is it, that ye turnen a parable among you in to this prouerbe, in the lond of Israel, and seien, Fadris eeten a bittir grape, and the teeth of sones ben an egge, ether astonyed?
“¿Qué es ese proverbio que ustedes citan sobre el país de Israel? “‘Los padres comieron las uvas sin madurar, pero sus hijos obtuvieron el sabor agrio’?
3 Y lyue, seith the Lord God, this parable schal no more be in to a prouerbe to you in Israel.
“Mientras yo viva, declara el Señor Dios, no citarás más este proverbio en Israel.
4 Lo! alle soulis ben myne; as the soule of the fadir, so and the soule of the sone is myn. Thilke soule that doith synne, schal die.
¿No ves que todos me pertenecen? Sean padres o hijos, todos son míos. El que peca es el que morirá.
5 And if a man is iust, and doith doom and riytfulnesse,
“Toma el ejemplo de un hombre que es una buena persona, que hace lo justo y lo correcto.
6 etith not in hillis, and reisith not hise iyen to the idols of the hous of Israel; and defoulith not the wijf of his neiybore, and neiyeth not to a womman defoulid with vncleene blood;
“No va a los santuarios paganos de las montañas para comer una comida religiosa, ni adora a los ídolos de Israel. No tiene relaciones sexuales con la esposa de otro ni con una mujer durante su período.
7 and makith not a man sori, yeldith the wed to the dettour, rauyschith no thing bi violence, yyueth his breed to the hungri, and hilith a nakid man with a cloth;
No explota a nadie. Devuelve lo que un deudor le ha dado como garantía. No roba a los demás. Da de comer al hambriento y viste al desnudo.
8 leeneth not to vsure, and takith not more; turneth awei his hond fro wickidnesse, and makith trewe dom bitwixe man and man;
No presta con intereses ni se lucra con los préstamos. Se niega a hacer el mal y se asegura de ser verdaderamente justo en sus decisiones entre las personas.
9 and goith in my comaundementis, and kepith my domes, that he do treuthe; this is a iust man, he schal lyue in lijf, seith the Lord God.
Sigue mis reglas y cumple fielmente mis normas. Un hombre así vive según lo que es correcto y ciertamente vivirá, declara el Señor Dios.
10 That if he gendrith a sone, a theef, shedinge out blood,
“¿Qué pasa si ese hombre tiene un hijo que es un delincuente violento, que mata y hace esas cosas malas que se acaban de enumerar
11 and doith oon of thes thingis, and sotheli not doing alle these thingis, but etinge in hillis, and defoulynge the wijf of his neiybore;
aunque el padre no actúe así en absoluto. El hijo va a los santuarios paganos en las montañas para comer una comida religiosa. Tiene relaciones sexuales con la mujer de otro.
12 makynge soreuful a nedy man and pore, rauyschynge raueyns, not yeldinge a wed, reisynge hise iyen to idols, doynge abhomynacioun; yiuynge to vsure, and takynge more;
Explota a los pobres y a los necesitados. Roba a otros, y no devuelve lo que un deudor le ha dado como garantía. Adora a los ídolos. Comete pecados repugnantes.
13 whether he schal lyue? he schal not lyue; whanne he hath do alle these abhomynable thingis, he schal die bi deth, his blood schal be in hym.
Presta con intereses y se lucra con los préstamos. ¿Va a vivir alguien así? No, no lo hará. Porque ha hecho todas estas cosas ofensivas, morirá con seguridad, y será responsable de su propia muerte.
14 That if he gendrith a sone, which seeth alle the synnes of his fadir, whiche he dide, and dredith, and doith noon lijk tho;
“Ahora bien, ¿qué pasa si este hombre tiene un hijo que ve todos los pecados que su padre ha cometido? Los ve pero no hace lo mismo.
15 etith not on hillis, and reisith not hise iyen to the idols of the hous of Israel; and defoulith not the wijf of his neiybore,
No va a los santuarios paganos en las montañas para comer una comida religiosa, ni adora a los ídolos de Israel. No tiene relaciones sexuales con la mujer de otro.
16 and makith not sori a man, witholdith not a wed, and rauyschith not raueyn, yyueth his breed to the hungri, and hilith the nakid with a cloth;
No explota a nadie. No exige una garantía para un préstamo. No roba a los demás. Da de comer al hambriento y viste al desnudo.
17 turneth a wei his hond fro the wrong of a pore man, takith not vsure and ouerhabundaunce, `that is, no thing more than he lente, and doith my domes, and goith in my comaundementis; this sone schal not die in the wickidnesse of his fadir, but he schal lyue in lijf.
Se niega a hacer el mal y no cobra intereses ni se lucra con los préstamos. Guarda mis normas y sigue mis leyes. Un hombre así no morirá por los pecados de su padre, ciertamente vivirá.
18 For his fadir made fals caleng, and dide violence to his brother, and wrouyte yuel in the myddis of his puple, lo! he is deed in his wickidnesse.
Pero su padre morirá por sus propios pecados, porque explotó a otros, robó a sus parientes e hizo mal a su propio pueblo.
19 And ye seien, Whi berith not the sone the wickidnesse of the fadir? That is to seie, for the sone wrouyte doom and riytfulnesse, he kepte alle my comaundementis, and dide tho, he schal lyue in lijf.
Ustedes preguntan: ‘¿Por qué no ha de pagar el hijo por los pecados de su padre?’ Si el hijo ha hecho lo justo y lo correcto, cumpliendo todas mis leyes, entonces vivirá, no será castigado.
20 Thilke soule that doith synne, schal die; the sone schal not bere the wickidnesse of the fadir, and the fadir schal not bere the wickednesse of the sone; the riytfulnesse of a iust man schal be on hym, and the wickidnesse of a wickid man schal be on hym.
“Es la persona que peca la que morirá. Un hijo no pagará por los pecados de su padre, y un padre no pagará por los pecados de su hijo. Las consecuencias buenas de vivir bien llegarán a los que son buenos; las consecuencias malas de la maldad llegarán a los que son malos.
21 Forsothe if a wickid man doith penaunce of alle hise synnes whiche he wrouyte, and kepith alle myn heestis, and doith dom and riytfulnesse, he schal lyue bi lijf, and schal not die.
“Sin embargo, si alguien que es malvado deja de pecar y guarda mis leyes, haciendo lo que es justo y correcto, ciertamente vivirá-no morirá.
22 Y schal not haue mynde of alle his wickidnessis whiche he wrouyte; he schal lyue in his riytfulnesse which he wrouyte.
Ninguno de sus pecados se les echará en cara. Porque ahora están haciendo lo que es justo, vivirán.
23 Whether the deth of the wickid man is of my wille, seith the Lord God, and not that he be conuertid fro his weies, and lyue?
¿Acaso me gusta que los malvados mueran? declara el Señor Dios. Claro que no; me encantaría que dejaran de pecar y vivieran.
24 Forsothe if a iust man turneth awey hym silf fro his riytfulnesse, and doith wickidnesse bi alle hise abhomynaciouns, which a wickid man is wont to worche, whether he schal lyue? Alle hise riytfulnessis whiche he dide, schulen not be had in mynde; in his trespassyng bi which he trespasside, and in his synne which he synnede, he schal die in tho.
“Pero si alguien que vive de acuerdo con lo que es correcto se detiene y hace el mal, haciendo las mismas cosas ofensivas que los malvados, ¿vivirá esa persona? Por supuesto que no. De hecho, todas las cosas buenas que hizo anteriormente serán olvidadas. Esa persona morirá por su traición a mí y por los pecados que ha cometido.
25 And ye seiden, The weie of the Lord is not euene. Therfor, the hous of Israel, here ye, whether my weie is not euene, and not more youre weies ben schrewid?
“Aun así, ustedes dicen: ‘Lo que hace el Señor no está bien’. “Pueblo de Israel, ¡escúchenme! ¿Es lo que hago lo que no está bien? ¿No es lo que tú haces lo que no está bien?
26 For whanne a riytful man turneth awei hym silf fro his riytfulnesse, and doith wickidnesse, he schal die in it, he schal die in the vnriytwisnesse which he wrouyte.
“Si alguien que vive de acuerdo con lo que es correcto deja de hacer lo correcto y hace lo incorrecto, morirá. Morirá a causa de las cosas malas que haya hecho.
27 And whanne a wickid man turneth awei him silf fro his wickidnesse which he wrouyte, and doith dom and riytfulnesse, he schal quykene his soule.
“Pero si alguien malvado deja de hacer lo malo y hace lo que es justo y correcto, salvará su vida.
28 For he biholdinge and turnynge awei hym silf fro alle hise wickidnessis which he wrouyte, schal lyue in lijf, and schal not die.
Por haber reflexionado y dejado de hacer lo malo, ciertamente vivirán; no morirán.
29 And the sones of Israel seien, The weie of the Lord is not euene. Whether my weies ben not euene, ye hous of Israel, and not more youre weies ben schrewid?
“Pero el pueblo de Israel dice: ‘El camino del Señor no es justo’. “¿Son injustos mis caminos, pueblo de Israel? ¿No son sus caminos los que no son justos?
30 Therfor, thou hous of Israel, Y schal deme ech man bi hise weies, seith the Lord God. Turne ye togidere, and do ye penaunce for alle youre wickidnessis, and wickidnesse schal not be to you in to falling.
“En consecuencia, ¡voy a juzgarte, pueblo de Israel! Voy a juzgar a cada uno de ustedes según lo que hayan hecho, declara el Señor Dios. Arrepiéntanse y dejen de rebelarse para que sus pecados no los hundan.
31 Caste awei fro you alle youre trespassingis, bi whiche ye trespassiden, and make ye a newe herte and a newe spirit to you, and whi schulen ye die, the hous of Israel?
¡Deshazte de todos tus pecados rebeldes! Cambia tu forma de pensar y ten un espíritu nuevo. ¿Por qué quieres morir, pueblo de Israel?
32 For Y nyle the deeth of hym that dieth, seith the Lord God; turne ye ayen, and lyue ye.
“No me gusta que nadie muera, declara el Señor Dios. Así que arrepiéntanse para poder vivir!”
