Ezekiel 15
1 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
La parole de l’Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
2 and he seide, Sone of man, what schal be don to the tre of a vyne, of alle the trees of woodis, that ben among the trees of woodis?
Fils de l’homme, le bois de la vigne, qu’a-t-il de plus que tout autre bois, Le sarment qui est parmi les arbres de la forêt?
3 Whether tymbre schal be takun therof, that werk be maad? ether shal a stake be maad therof, that ony vessel hange ther onne?
Prend-on de ce bois pour fabriquer un ouvrage? En tire-t-on une cheville pour y suspendre un objet quelconque?
4 Lo! it is youun in to mete; fier wastide euer eithir part therof, and the myddis therof is dryuun in to deed sparcle; whether it schal be profitable to werk?
Voici, on le met au feu pour le consumer; Le feu en consume les deux bouts, et le milieu brûle: Sera-t-il bon à quelque chose?
5 Yhe, whanne it was hool, it was not couenable to werk; hou myche more whanne fier hath deuourid, and hath brent it, no thing of werk schal be maad therof?
Voici, lorsqu’il était entier, on n’en faisait aucun ouvrage; Combien moins, lorsque le feu l’a consumé et qu’il est brûlé, En pourra-t-on faire quelque ouvrage?
6 Therfor the Lord God seith thes thingis, As the tre of a vyne is among the trees of woodis, which Y yaf to fier to deuoure, so Y yaf the dwelleris of Jerusalem,
C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Comme le bois de la vigne parmi les arbres de la forêt, Ce bois que je livre au feu pour le consumer, Ainsi je livrerai les habitants de Jérusalem.
7 and Y schal sette my face ayens hem. Thei schulen go out of the fier, and fier schal waaste hem; and ye schulen wite, that Y am the Lord, whanne Y schal sette my face ayens hem,
Je tournerai ma face contre eux; Ils sont sortis du feu, et le feu les consumera. Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel, Quand je tournerai ma face contre eux.
8 and schal yyue the lond with out weie and desolat, for thei weren trespassours, seith the Lord God.
Je ferai du pays un désert, Parce qu’ils ont été infidèles, Dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
