Exodus 34
1 And aftirward God seide, Hewe to thee twey tablis of stoon at the licnesse of the formere, and Y schal write on tho tablis thilke wordis, whiche the tablis, that thou `hast broke, hadden.
Et ensuite: Taille-toi, dit-il, deux tables de pierre à l’instar des premières, et j’écrirai dessus les paroles que contenaient les tables que tu as rompues.
2 Be thou redi in the morewtid, that thou stie anoon in to the hil of Synai; and thou schalt stonde with me on the cop of the hil;
Sois prêt dès le matin, pour monter aussitôt sur la montagne de Sinaï, et tu te tiendras avec moi sur le sommet de la montagne.
3 no man stie with thee, nether ony man be seyn bi al the hil, and oxun and scheep be not fed ayens `the hil.
Que nul ne monte avec toi, et que personne ne soit vu sur toute la montagne; que les bœufs même et les brebis ne paissent point contre.
4 Therfor Moises hewide twey tablis of stoon, whiche manere tablis weren bifore, and he roos bi nyyt, and stiede in to the hil of Synay, as the Lord comaundide to hym; and he bar with hym the tablis.
Il tailla donc deux tables de pierre, comme celles qui avaient été auparavant; et se levant de nuit, il monta sur la montagne de Sinaï, comme lui avait ordonné le Seigneur, portant avec lui les tables.
5 And whanne the Lord hadde come doun bi a cloude, Moises stood with hym, and clepide inwardli `the name of the Lord;
Et lorsque le Seigneur fut descendu dans la nuée. Moïse se tint avec lui, invoquant le nom du Seigneur.
6 and whanne the Lord passide bifore hym, he seide, Lordschipere, Lord God, mercyful, and pitouse, pacient, and of myche mersiful doyng, and sothefast,
Et le Seigneur passant devant lui, Moïse dit: Dominateur, Seigneur Dieu, miséricordieux et clément, patient et d’une abondante miséricorde, et très véritable,
7 which kepist couenaunt and mercy in to `a thousande, which doist awey wickidnesse, and trespassis, and synnes, and noon bi hym silf is innocent anentis thee, which yeldist the wickidnesse of fadris to sones and to sones of sones, into the thridde and fourthe generacioun.
Qui gardez votre miséricorde pour des milliers de créatures; qui effacez l’iniquité, les crimes et les péchés, et nul auprès de vous n’est innocent par lui-même; qui rendez l’iniquité des pères aux fils et aux petits-fils, jusqu’à la troisième et la quatrième génération.
8 And hastili Moises was bowid low `in to erthe, and worschipide,
Et aussitôt Moïse se prosterna incliné vers la terre, et adorant,
9 and seide, Lord, if Y haue founde grace in thi siyt, Y biseche that thou go with vs, for the puple is of hard nol, and that thou do awey oure wickidnesses and synnes, and welde vs.
Dit: Si j’ai trouvé grâce en votre présence. Seigneur, je vous conjure de marcher avec nous (car Ce peuple est d’un cou roide), d’effacer nos iniquités et nos péchés, et de nous prendre en possession.
10 The Lord answeride, Y schal make couenaunt, and in siyt of alle men Y schal make signes, that weren neuer seyn on erthe, nether in ony folkis, that this puple, in whos myddis thou art, se the ferdful werk of the Lord, which Y schal make.
Le Seigneur répondit: Moi, je ferai alliance, tous le voyant, je ferai des signes, qui n’ont jamais été vus sur la terre, ni dans aucune nation, afin qu’il voie, ce peuple au milieu duquel tu es, l’œuvre terrible du Seigneur que je dois faire.
11 Kepe thou alle thingis, whiche Y comaundide to thee to dai; I my silf schal caste out bifor thi face Amorrey, and Cananey, and Ethei, and Ferezei, and Euey, and Jebusei.
Observe tout ce qu’aujourd’hui je te commande; moi-même, je chasserai devant ta face l’Amorrhéen, le Chananéen, l’Héthéen, le Phérézéen aussi, l’Hévéen et le Jébuséen.
12 Be war, lest ony tyme thou ioyne frendschipis with the dwelleris of that lond, whiche frenschipis be in to fallyng to thee.
Prends garde de ne jamais lier des amitiés avec les habitants de cette terre, lesquelles soient pour toi une ruine;
13 But also distrie thou `the auteris of hem, breke the ymagis, and kitte doun the woodis;
Mais détruis leurs autels, brise leurs statues et coupe leurs bois sacrés.
14 `nyl thou worschipe an alien God; `the Lord a gelous louyere is his name, God is a feruent louyere;
N’adore point de dieu étranger. Le Seigneur, son nom est: jaloux; Dieu est jaloux.
15 make thou not couenaunt with the men of tho cuntreis, lest whanne thei han do fornycacioun with her goddis, and han worschipid the symylacris of hem, ony man clepe thee, that thou ete of thingis offrid to an ydol.
Ne fais point d’alliance avec les hommes de ces pays-là, de peur que lorsqu’ils auront forniqué avec leurs dieux, et qu’ils auront adoré leurs simulacres, quelqu’un ne t’invite à manger des victimes immolées.
16 Nether thou schalt take a wyif of her douytris to thi sones, lest aftir that tho douytris han do fornycacioun, thei make also thi sones to do fornicacioun in to her goddis.
Tu ne prendras point de femmes d’entre leurs filles pour tes fils, de peur qu’après qu’elles-mêmes auront forniqué, elles ne fassent forniquer aussi tes fils avec leurs dieux.
17 Thou schalt not make to thee yotun goddis.
Tu ne feras point de dieux jetés en fonte.
18 Thou schalt kepe the solempynyte of therf looues; seuene daies thou schalt ete therf looues, as Y comaundide to thee, in the time of the monethe of newe fruytis; for in the monethe of veer tyme thou yedist out of Egipt.
Tu garderas la solennité des azymes. Pendant sept jours tu mangeras des azymes, comme je t’ai ordonné, au temps du mois des nouveaux fruits; car c’est au mois du printemps que tu es sorti de l’Egypte.
19 Al thing of male kynde that openeth the wombe schal be myn, of alle lyuynge beestis, as wel of oxun, as of scheep, it schal be myn.
Tout mâle qui ouvre un sein, sera à moi. Le premier-né d’entre tous les animaux, tant des bœufs que des brebis, sera à moi.
20 Thou schalt ayenbie with a scheep the firste gendrid of an asse, ellis if thou yyuest not prijs therfor, it schal be slayn. Thou schalt ayenbie the firste gendrid of thi sones; nether thou schalt appere voide in my siyt.
Tu rachèteras le premier-né de l’âne avec une brebis; mais si tu ne donnes pas de rançon pour lui, il sera tué. Tu rachèteras le premier-né de tes fils; et tu ne paraîtras point devant moi les mains vides.
21 Sixe daies thou schalt worche, the seuenthe day thou schalt ceesse to ere and repe.
Pendant six jours tu travailleras; au septième jour, tu cesseras de labourer et de moissonner.
22 Thou schalt make to thee the solempnyte of woukis in the firste thingis of fruytis of thi ripe corn of wheete, and the solempnyte, whanne alle thingis ben gadrid in to bernes, whanne the tyme `of yeer cometh ayen.
Tu feras la solennité des semaines, à l’époque des prémices des fruits de ta moisson de froment, et la solennité de la récolte, quand, le temps de l’année revenant, tout se serre.
23 Ech male kynde of thee schal appere in thre tymes of the yeer in the siyt of the Lord Almyyti, thi God of Israel.
À trois époques de l’année tous tes mâles paraîtront en la présence du tout-puissant Seigneur Dieu d’Israël.
24 For whanne Y schal take awei folkis fro thi face, and Y schal alarge thi termes, noon schal sette tresouns to thi lond, while thou stiest and apperist in the siyt of thi Lord God, thries in the yeer.
Car lorsque j’aurai enlevé les nations de devant ta face, et que j’aurai étendu tes limites, nul ne cherchera à surprendre ta terre, toi montant, et paraissant en la présence du Seigneur ton Dieu trois fois l’année.
25 Thou schalt not offre on sour dow the blood of my sacrifice, nethir ony thing of the slayn sacrifice of the solempnyte of fase schal abide in the morewtid.
Tu ne sacrifieras point sur du levain le sang de mon hostie, et il ne restera pas le matin de la victime de la solennité de la Pâque.
26 Thou schalt offre in the hows of thi Lord God the firste of the fruytis of thi lond. Thou schalt not sethe a kide in the mylk of his modir.
Tu offriras les prémices des fruits de ta terre dans la maison du Seigneur ton Dieu. Tu ne feras point cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
27 And the Lord seide to Moises, Write thou these wordis, bi whiche Y smoot a boond of pees, bothe with thee and with Israel.
Le Seigneur dit encore à Moïse: Ecris pour toi ces paroles par lesquelles j’ai fait alliance et avec toi et avec Israël.
28 Therfor Moises was there with the Lord bi fourti daies and bi fourti nyytis, he eet not breed, and drank not watir; and he wroot in tablys ten wordis of the boond of pees.
Il fut donc là avec le Seigneur quarante jours et quarante nuits: il ne mangea point de pain et il ne but point d’eau, et il écrivit sur les tables les dix paroles de l’alliance.
29 And whanne Moises cam doun fro the hil of Synai, he helde twei tablis of witnessyng, and he wiste not that his face was horned of the felouschipe of Goddis word.
Et lorsque Moïse descendait de la montagne de Sinaï, il tenait les deux tables du témoignage, et il ignorait que sa face était rayonnante de lumière, depuis l’entretien du Seigneur avec lui.
30 Forsothe Aaron and the sones of Israel sien Moises face horned,
Or Aaron et les enfants d’Israël, voyant la face de Moïse rayonnante, craignirent de s’approcher.
31 and thei dredden to neiye niy, and thei weren clepid of hym, `and thei turneden ayen, as wel Aaron as the princis of the synagoge; and after that Moises spak, thei camen to hym,
Mais appelés par lui, ils revinrent, tant Aaron que les princes de la synagogue. Et après qu’il leur eut parlé,
32 yhe alle the sones of Israel; to whiche Moises comaundide alle thingis, whiche he hadde herd of the Lord in the hil of Synai.
Vinrent aussi vers lui tous les enfants d’Israël, auxquels il ordonna toutes les choses qu’il avait entendues du Seigneur sur la montagne de Sinaï.
33 And whanne the wordis weren fillid, he puttide a veil on his face;
Et, ces discours achevés, il mit un voile sur sa face.
34 and he entride to the Lord, and spak with hym, and dide awey that veil, til he yede out; and thanne he spak to the sones of Israel alle thingis, that weren comaundid to hym;
Entré auprès du Seigneur, et parlant avec lui, il ôtait ce voile jusqu’à ce qu’il en sortît, et c’est alors qu’il disait aux enfants d’Israël toutes les choses qui lui avaient été commandées.
35 whiche sien that the face of Moyses goynge out was horned, but eft he hilide his face, if ony tyme he spak to hem.
Ceux-ci voyaient que la face de Moïse rayonnait, lorsqu’il sortait, mais lui la voilait de nouveau, s’il avait à leur parler.
