Exodus 28
1 Also applie thou to thee Aaron, thi brother, with hise sones, fro the myddis of the sones of Israel, that Aaron, Nadab, and Abyu, Eleazar, and Ythamar, be set in preesthod to me.
« Fais venir auprès de toi Aaron ton frère, et ses fils avec lui, du milieu des enfants d’Israël, pour qu’il soit prêtre à mon service: Aaron, Nadab, Abiu, Eléazar et Ithamar, fils d’Aaron.
2 And thou schalt make an hooli clooth to Aaron, thi brother, in to glorie and fairenesse.
Tu feras à Aaron, ton frère, des vêtements sacrés, pour marquer sa dignité et pour lui servir de parure.
3 And thou schalt speke to alle wise men in herte, whiche Y haue fillid with the spirit of prudence, that thei make clothis to Aaron, in whiche he schal be halewid, and schal mynystre to me.
Tu t’adresseras à tous les hommes habiles que j’ai remplis d’un esprit de sagesse, et ils feront les vêtements d’Aaron, afin qu’il soit consacré pour qu’il exerce mon sacerdoce.
4 Forsothe these schulen be the clothis, whiche thei schulen make; `thei schulen make racional, and a clooth on the schuldris, a coote, and a streyt lynnun clooth, a mytre, and a girdil; hooli cloothis to Aaron, thi brother, and to hise sones, that thei be set in preesthod to me.
Voici les vêtements qu’ils feront: un pectoral, un éphod, une robe, une tunique brodée, une tiare et une ceinture. Tels sont les vêtements sacrés qu’ils feront à Aaron, ton frère, et à ses fils, afin qu’ils soient prêtres à mon service.
5 And thei schulen take gold, and iacynt, and purpur, and `reed selk twies died, and bijs;
Ils emploieront de l’or, de la pourpre violette, de la pourpre écarlate, du cramoisi et du fin lin.
6 forsothe thei schulen make the clooth on the schuldris of gold, and of iacynt, and purpur, and of `reed selk twies died, and of bijs foldid ayen, bi broyderi werk of dyuerse colours.
Ils feront l’éphod d’or, de pourpre violette, de pourpre écarlate, de cramoisi et de lin retors, mêlés dans un habile tissu.
7 It schal haue twey hemmes ioyned in euer either side of hiynessis, that tho go ayen in to oon.
Il aura deux épaulettes qui réuniront ses deux extrémités, et ainsi il sera joint.
8 Thilke weuyng, and al dyuersite of the werk schal be of gold, and iacynt, and purpur, and of `reed selk twies died, and bijs foldis ayen.
La ceinture pour l’attacher en passant dessus sera du même travail et fera corps avec lui: elle sera d’or, de pourpre violette, de pourpre écarlate, de cramoisi et de lin retors.
9 And thou schalt take twei stoonys of onychym, and thou schalt graue in tho the names of the sones of Israel,
Tu prendras deux pierres d’onyx, et tu y graveras les noms des fils d’Israël:
10 sixe names in o stoon, and sixe othere in the tother stoon, bi the ordre of her birthe;
six de leurs noms sur une pierre, et les six autres noms sur la seconde pierre, selon l’ordre de leurs naissances.
11 bi the werk of a grauere, and bi the peyntyng of a man that ourneth with gemmes thou schalt graue tho stoonys, with the names of the sones of Israel; and thou schalt enclose and cumpasse in gold.
Comme on taille les pierres précieuses et qu’on y grave des cachets, ainsi tu graveras sur les deux pierres les noms des enfants d’Israël, et tu les enchâsseras dans des chatons d’or.
12 And thou schalt sette tho stoonus in euer either side of the cloth on the schuldris, a memorial to the sones of Israel; and Aaron schal bere the names of hem bifor the Lord on euer either schuldre, for remembryng.
Tu placeras les deux pierres sur les épaulettes de l’éphod comme pierres de souvenir pour les enfants d’Israël, et Aaron portera leurs noms sur ses deux épaules devant Yahweh en souvenir.
13 And thou schalt make hookis of gold,
Tu feras des chatons d’or,
14 and twey litil chaynes of clenneste gold, cleuynge to hem silf togidere, whiche litil chaynes thou schalt sette in the hookis.
et deux chaînettes d’or pur, tressées en forme de cordons, et tu fixeras aux chatons les chaînettes en forme de cordons.
15 Also thou schalt make the racional of doom by werk of dyuerse colours, bi the weuyng of the cloth on the schuldre, of gold, iacynt, and purpur, of `reed silk twies died, and of bijs foldid ayen.
Tu feras un pectoral du jugement, artistement travaillé; tu le feras du même travail que l’éphod; tu le feras d’or, de pourpre violette, de pourpre écarlate, de cramoisi et de lin retors.
16 It schal be foure cornerid, and double; it schal haue the mesure of a pawme of the hond, as wel in lengthe, as in breede.
Il sera carré et double; sa longueur sera d’un empan et sa largeur d’un empan.
17 And thou schalt sette ther ynne foure ordris of stoonys; in the firste ordre schal be the stoon sardius, and topazyus, and smaragdus;
Tu y adapteras une garniture de pierreries, quatre rangées de pierreries. Première rangée: une sardoine, une topaze, une émeraude;
18 in the secunde ordre schal be charbuncle, safir, and iaspis; in the thridde ordre schal be ligurie,
deuxième rangée: une escarboucle, un saphir, un diamant;
19 achates, and ametiste;
troisième rangée: une opale, une agate, une améthyste;
20 in the fourthe ordre schal be crisolitus, onochyn, and berille; tho schulen be closid in gold, bi her ordris,
quatrième rangée: une chrysolithe, un onyx, un jaspe. Ces pierres seront enchâssées dans des rosettes d’or.
21 and schulen haue the names of the sones of Israel: tho schulen be graven with twelue names; al stonus bi hem silf, with the names of the sones `of Israel bi hem silf, bi twelue lynagis.
Les pierres seront selon les noms des fils d’Israël, douze selon leurs noms; elles seront gravées comme des cachets, chacune avec son nom, pour les douze tribus. —
22 Thou schalt make in the racional chaynes cleuynge to hem silf togidere of pureste gold,
Tu feras pour le pectoral des chaînettes d’or pur, tressées en forme de cordons.
23 and thou schalt make twei goldun ryngis, whiche thou schalt sette in euer either hiynesse of racional.
Tu feras sur le pectoral deux anneaux d’or et tu mettras les deux anneaux aux deux extrémités du pectoral.
24 And thou schalt ioyne the goldun chaynes with the ryngis that ben in the brynkis therof,
Tu passeras les deux cordons d’or dans les deux anneaux, aux extrémités du pectoral;
25 and thou schalt couple the `last thingis of tho chaynes to twey hookis in euer either side of the `cloth on the schuldur, that biholdith the racional.
et tu attacheras les deux bouts des deux cordons aux deux chatons, et tu les mettras sur les épaulettes de l’éphod, par devant. —
26 And thou schalt make twei goldun ryngis, whiche thou schalt sette in the hiynesses of the racional, and in the hemmes of the cloth on the schuldur, that ben euene ayens, and biholden the lattere thingis therof.
Tu feras encore deux anneaux d’or, que tu mettras aux deux extrémités inférieures du pectoral, sur le bord intérieur appliqué contre l’éphod.
27 Also and thou schalt make tweyne othere goldun ryngis, that schulen be set in euer either side of the clooth on the schuldur bynethe, that biholdith ayens the face of the lowere ioynyng, that it may be set couenabli with the `cloth on the schuldre.
Et tu feras deux autres anneaux d’or, que tu mettras au bas des deux épaulettes de l’éphod, sur le devant, près de son attache, au-dessus de la ceinture de l’éphod.
28 And the racional be boundun bi hise ryngis with the ryngis of the `cloth on the schuldre, with a lace of iacynt, that the ioyning maad craftili dwelle, and that the racional and `cloth on the schuldre moun not be departid ech fro other.
On attachera le pectoral par ses anneaux aux anneaux de l’éphod avec un ruban de pourpre violette, afin que le pectoral soit au-dessus de la ceinture de l’éphod; et le pectoral ne pourra pas se séparer de l’éphod.
29 And Aaron schal bere the names of the sones of Israel in the racional of doom on his brest, whanne he entrith in to the seyntuarie, a memorial bifor the Lord with outen ende.
C’est ainsi qu’Aaron lorsqu’il entrera dans le sanctuaire, portera sur son cœur les noms des fils d’Israël gravés sur le pectoral du jugement, en souvenir perpétuel devant Yahweh. —
30 Forsothe thou schalt sette in the racional of doom, techyng, and treuthe, whiche schulen be in the brest of Aaron, whanne he entrith bifor the Lord, and he schal bere the doom of the sones of Israel in his brest in the siyt of the Lord euere.
Tu joindras au pectoral du jugement l’Urim et le Thummin, et ils seront sur le cœur d’Aaron lorsqu’il se présentera devant Yahweh; et ainsi Aaron portera constamment sur son cœur, devant Yahweh, le jugement des enfants d’Israël.
31 And thou schalt make the coote of the `cloth on the schuldre al of iacynt,
Tu feras la robe de l’éphod tout entière en pourpre violette.
32 in whos myddil aboue schal be an hood, and a wouun hemme `bi cumpas therof, as it is wont to be don in the hemmes of clothis, lest it be brokun liytli.
Il y aura au milieu une ouverture pour la tête, et cette ouverture aura tout autour un rebord tissé, comme à l’ouverture d’une cotte d’armes, afin que la robe ne se déchire pas.
33 Forsothe bynethe at the feet of the same coote, bi cumpas, thou schalt make as `piyn applis, of iacynt, and purpur, of `reed selk twies died, and of biis foldid ayen; while smale bellis ben medlid in the myddis,
Tu mettras au bord inférieur des grenades de pourpre violette, de pourpre écarlate et de cramoisi, sur le bord inférieur tout autour,
34 so that a litil `belle of gold be and a `piyn appil, and eft another litel belle of gold and a `pyn appil.
et des clochettes d’or au milieu d’elles tout autour: une clochette d’or et une grenade, une clochette d’or et une grenade sur le bord inférieur de la robe, tour autour.
35 And Aaron schal be clothid with that coote in the office of seruyce, that sown be herd, whanne he entrith in to the seyntuarie, and goith out, in the siyt of the Lord; and that he die not.
Aaron s’en revêtira pour remplir son ministère, et l’on entendra le son des clochettes quand il entrera dans le sanctuaire devant Yahweh, et quand il en sortira, et il ne mourra point.
36 And thou schalt make a plate of pureste gold, in which thou schalt graue bi the werk of a grauere, the holi to the Lord.
Tu feras une lame d’or pur, et tu y graveras, comme on grave sur un cachet: Sainteté à Yahweh.
37 And thou schalt bynde that plate with a lace of iacynt, and it schal be on the mytre,
Tu l’attacheras avec un ruban de pourpre violette pour qu’elle soit sur la tiare; elle sera sur le devant de la tiare.
38 and schal neiye the forheed of the bischop. And Aaron schal bere the wickidnessis of hem whiche the sones of Israel `offeriden, and halewiden in alle her yiftis and fre yiftis; forsothe the plate schal euere be in `his forhed, that the Lord be plesid to him.
Elle sera sur le front d’Aaron, et Aaron portera les fautes commises dans les choses saintes que consacreront les enfants d’Israël, en toute espèce de saintes offrandes; elle sera constamment sur son front devant Yahweh, pour qu’ils trouvent faveur devant Yahweh.
39 And thou schalt bynde the coot of biis, and the myter of bijs, and thou schalt make also a girdil, `bi werk of broiderye.
Tu feras la tunique en lin; tu feras une tiare de lin, et tu feras une ceinture de diverses couleurs.
40 Forsothe thou schalt make redi to `the sones of Aaron linnun cootis, and girdlis, and mytris, in to glorie and fairnesse.
Pour les fils d’Aaron, tu feras des tuniques, tu leur feras des ceintures et tu leur feras des mitres, pour marquer leur dignité et pour leur servir de parure.
41 And thou schalt clothe Aaron, thi brother, with alle these, and hise sones with hym. And thou schalt sacre the hondis of alle; and thou schalt halewe hem, that thei be set in preesthood to me.
Tu revêtiras de ces ornements, Aaron, ton frère, et ses fils avec lui. Tu les oindras, tu les installeras et tu les consacreras, afin qu’ils soient prêtres à mon service.
42 Also thou schalt make lynnun brechis, that thei hile the fleisch of her filthe fro the reynes `til to the hipis.
Fais-leur des caleçons de lin, pour couvrir leur nudité; ils iront depuis les reins jusqu’aux cuisses.
43 And Aaron and hise sones schulen vse tho, whanne thei schulen entre in to the tabernacle of witnessyng, ether whanne thei neiyen to the auter, that thei mynystren in the seyntuarie, lest thei ben gilti of wickidnesse, and dien; it schal be a lawful thing euerlastynge to Aaron, and to his seed after hym.
Aaron et ses fils les porteront quand ils entreront dans la tente de réunion, ou quand ils s’approcheront de l’autel pour faire le service dans le sanctuaire; ainsi ils n’encourront point de faute et ne mourront point. C’est une loi perpétuelle pour Aaron et pour ses descendants après lui.
