Exodus 23
1 Thou schalt not resseyue a vois of leesyng, nether thou schalt ioyne thin hond, that thou seie fals witnessyng for a wickid man.
“No ayudes a difundir historias que son mentiras. No ayudes a la gente mala dando mal testimonio.
2 Thou schalt not sue the cumpanye to do yuel, nether thou schalt ascente to the sentence of ful many men in doom, that thou go awey fro treuthe.
“No sigas a la multitud haciendo el mal. Cuando testifiques en un juicio, no corrompas la justicia poniéndote del lado de la mayoría.
3 Also thou schalt not haue mercy of a pore man in a `cause, ethir doom.
Tampoco muestres favoritismo hacia los pobres en sus casos legales.
4 If thou meetist `the oxe of thin enemye, ethir the asse errynge, lede thou ayen to hym.
“Si te encuentras con el buey o asno de tu enemigo que se ha extraviado, devuélveselo.
5 If thou seest that the asse of hym that hatith thee liggyth vndir a burthun, thou schalt not passe, but thou schalt reise with hym.
Si ves el asno de alguien que te odia y que ha caído porel peso de su carga, no lo dejes ahí. Debes detenerte y ayudarle.
6 Thou schalt not bowe in the doom of a pore man.
“No debes impedir que los pobres obtengan justicia en sus demandas.
7 Thou schalt fle a lesyng. Thou schalt not sle an innocent man, and iust; for Y am aduersarie to a wickid man.
No tengas nada que ver con hacer falsas acusaciones. No maten a los inocentes ni a los que hacen el bien, porque no dejaré que los culpables queden impunes.
8 Take thou not yiftis, that blynden also prudent men, and destryen the wordys of iust men.
“No aceptes sobornos, porque un soborno ciega a los que pueden ver y socava las pruebas de los honestos.
9 Thou schalt not be diseseful to a pilgrym, for ye knowen the soulis of comelyngis, for also ye weren pilgryms in the lond of Egipt.
“No abusen de los extranjeros que viven entre ustedes, pues ustedes saben muy bien lo que es ser extranjeros, ya que una vez fueron extranjeros en Egipto.
10 Sixe yeer thou schalt sowe thi lond, and thou schalt gadre fruytis therof;
“Seis años deben sembrar la tierra y cosechar los cultivos,
11 forsothe in the seuenthe yeer thou schalt leeue it, and schalt make to reste, that the pore men of thi puple ete, and what euer is residue, the beestis of the feeld ete; so thou schalt do in thi vyner, and in place of olyue trees.
pero en el séptimo año deben dejarla descansar y dejarla sin cultivar, para que los pobres puedan comer lo que crece naturalmente en el campo y los animales salvajes puedan terminar lo que queda. Sigan el mismo procedimiento para sus viñedos y olivares.
12 Sixe dayes thou schalt worche, in the seuenthe dai thou schalt ceesse, that thin oxe and asse reste, and the sone of thin handmaide, and the comelyng be refreischid.
“Tendrán seis días para hacer su trabajo, pero el séptimo día deben dejar de trabajar, para que su buey y su asno puedan descansar, y las familias de sus esclavos puedan recuperar el aliento, así como los extranjeros que viven entre ustedes.
13 Kepe ye alle thingis, whiche Y seide to you; and ye schulen not swere bi the name of alien goddis, nether it schal be herd of youre mouth.
“Asegúrate de prestar atención a todo lo que te he dicho. Que no pase por tu mente invocar el nombre de otros dioses, ni siquiera debes mencionarlos.
14 In thre tymes bi alle yeeris ye schulen halewe feestis to me.
“Tres veces al año celebrarán una fiesta dedicada a mí.
15 Thou schalt kepe the solempnyte of therf looues; seuene daies thou schalt ete therf breed, as Y comaundide to thee, in the tyme of monethe of newe thingis, whanne thou yedist out of Egipt; thou schalt not appere voide in my siyt.
Deben observar el Festival de los Panes sin Levadura como se los he instruído. Deben comer pan sin levadura durante siete días en el momento apropiado en el mes de Abib, porque ese fue el mes en que saliste de Egipto. Nadie puede venir delante mí sin traer una ofrenda.
16 And thou schalt kepe the solempnete of the monethe of the firste thingis of thi werk, what euer thingis thou hast sowe in the feeld. Also thou schalt kepe the solempnyte in the goyng out of the yeer, whanne thou hast gaderid all thi fruytis of the feeld.
“Y también observarán el Festival de las Cosechas cuando presenten las primicias de los productos de lo que hayan sembrado en los campos. Por último, deben observar el Festival de la Cosecha al final del año, cuando recojan la cosecha del resto de tus cultivos en el campo.
17 Thries in the yeer al thi male kynde schal appere bifore thi Lord God.
Todo varón israelita debe presentarse ante el Señor Dios en estas tres ocasiones cada año.
18 Thou schalt not offre the blood of thi slayn sacrifice on sour douy; nether the fatnesse of my solempnete schal dwelle til to the morewtid.
“No ofrecerán la sangre de mis sacrificios junto con nada que contenga levadura, y la grasa de las ofrendas presentadas en mi festival no debe dejarse hasta la mañana.
19 Thou schalt bere the firste thingis of the fruytis of thi lond in to the hows of thi Lord God. Thou schalt not sethe a kide in the mylke of his modir.
“Traigan las mejores primicias de sus cosechas a la casa del Señor su Dios. No cocinarán a un cabrito en la leche de su madre.
20 Lo! Y schal sende myn aungel, that schal go bifore thee, and schal kepe in the weie, and schal lede to the place which Y haue maad redi to thee.
“Yo envío un ángel delante de ti para que te proteja en el camino y te lleve al lugar que te he preparado.
21 Take thou hede to hym, and here thou his vois, nether gesse thou hym to be dispisid; for he schal not foryyue, whanne thou synnest, and my name is in him.
Asegúrate de prestarle atención y hacer lo que te diga. No te opongas a él, porque no perdonará la rebelión, pues lleva mi autoridad.
22 For if thou herest his vois, and doist alle thingis whiche Y speke, Y schal be enemy to thin enemyes, and Y schal turment hem, that turmenten thee;
“Sin embargo, si le escuchas atentamente y haces todo lo que te digo, entonces seré enemigo de tus enemigos y lucharé contra los que luchan contra ti.
23 and myn aungel schal go bifore thee, and he schal lede yn thee to Amorrei, and Ethei, and Ferezei, and Cananey, and Euey, and Jebusei, whiche Y schal breke.
Porque mi ángel irá delante de ti y te llevará a la tierra de los amorreos, hititas, ferezeos, cananeos, heveos y jebuseos, y los aniquilaré.
24 Thou schalt not onoure `the goddis of hem, nether thou schalt worschipe hem; thou schalt not do the werkis of hem, but thou schalt destrie the goddis, and thou schalt breke the ymagis of hem.
No debes inclinarte ante sus dioses ni adorarlos, ni seguir sus prácticas paganas. Más bien destruirás sus ídolos y derribarás sus altares.
25 And ye schulen serue to youre Lord God, that Y blesse thi looues, and watris, and do awei sikenesse fro the myddis of thee;
“Adorarás al Señor tu Dios, y él bendecirá tu comida y tu agua. Me aseguraré de que ninguno de ustedes se enferme.
26 neithir a womman vnfruytful, neither bareyn, schal be in thi lond; Y schal fille the noumbre of thi daies.
Ninguna mujer tendrá un aborto espontáneo ni se quedará sin hijos. Me aseguraré de que vivan una larga vida.
27 Y schal sende my drede in to thi biforgoyng, and Y schal sle al the puple, to which thou schalt entre, and Y schal turne the backis of alle thin enemyes bifore thee;
“Enviaré un terror sobre mí delante de ustedes que hará que todas las naciones que los conozcan entren en pánico. Haré que todos sus enemigos se den la vuelta y huyan.
28 and Y schal sende out bifore scrabrouns, that schulen dryue awei Euey, and Cananey, and Ethei, bifore that thou entre.
Y enviaré avispones delante de ti para expulsar a los heveos, cananeos e hititas.
29 Y schal not caste hem out fro thi face in o yeer, lest the lond be turned in to wildirnesse, and beestis encreesse ayens thee;
No los expulsaré en un año, porque la tierra se volvería desolada y tendrías que enfrentarte a un mayor número de animales salvajes.
30 litil and litil I schal caste hem out fro thi siyt, til thou be encreessid, and welde the loond.
Poco a poco los expulsaré delante de ti, hasta que haya suficientes para tomar posesión de la tierra.
31 Forsothe Y schal sette thi termys fro the reed see til to the see of Palestyns, and fro desert til to the flood. Y schal yyue to youre hondis the dwelleris of the lond, and Y schal caste hem out fro youre siyt;
“Fijaré sus fronteras desde el Mar Rojo hasta el Mar de los Filisteos, y desde el desierto hasta el río Éufrates. Te entregaré los habitantes de la tierra y tú los expulsarás.
32 thou schalt not make boond of pees with hem, nethir with `the goddis of hem.
No debes hacer ningún acuerdo con ellos ni con sus dioses.
33 Dwelle thei not in thi lond, lest perauenture thei make thee to do synne ayens me, yf thou seruest her goddis, which thing certis schal be to thee in to sclaundir.
No se les debe permitir permanecer en tu tierra, de lo contrario te llevarán a pecar contra mí. Porque si adoras a sus dioses, definitivamente se convertirán en una trampa para ti”.
