Exodus 21
1 These ben the domes, whiche thou schalt sette forth to hem.
Dit nu zijn de rechten, die gij hun zult voorstellen.
2 If thou biest an Ebrew seruaunt, he schal serue thee sixe yeer; in the seuenthe yeer he schal go out fre,
Als gij een Hebreeuwsen knecht kopen zult, die zal zes jaren dienen; maar in het zevende zal hij voor vrij uitgaan, om niet.
3 with out prijs; with what maner clooth he entride, with siche clooth go he out; if he entride hauynge a wijf, and the wijf schal go out to gidere.
Indien hij met zijn lijf ingekomen zal zijn, zo zal hij met zijn lijf uitgaan; indien hij een getrouwd man was, zo zal zijn vrouw met hem uitgaan.
4 But if the lord of the servaunt yaf a wijf to hym, and sche childide sones and douytris, the womman and hir children schulen be hir lordis; sotheli the seruaunt schal go out with his owne clooth.
Indien hem zijn heer een vrouw gegeven, en zij hem zonen of dochteren gebaard zal hebben, zo zal de vrouw en haar kinderen haars heren zijn, en hij zal met zijn lijf uitgaan.
5 That if the seruaunt seith, Y loue my lord, and wijf, and children, Y schal not go out fre;
Maar indien de knecht ronduit zeggen zal: Ik heb mijn heer, mijn vrouw en mijn kinderen lief, ik wil niet vrij uitgaan;
6 the lord brynge hym to goddis, that is, iugis; and he schal be set to the dore, and postis; and the lord schal perse his eere with a nal, and he schal be seruaunt to hym til in to the world.
Zo zal hem zijn heer tot de goden brengen, daarna zal hij hem aan de deur, of aan den post brengen; en zijn heer zal hem met een priem zijn oor doorboren, en hij zal hem eeuwiglijk dienen.
7 If ony man sillith his douyter in to seruauntesse, sche schal not go out as handmaidis weren wont to go out;
Wanneer nu iemand zijn dochter zal verkocht hebben tot een dienstmaagd, zo zal zij niet uitgaan, gelijk de knechten uitgaan.
8 if sche displesith in the iyen of hir lord, to whom sche was bitakun, he schal delyuere hir; sotheli he schal not haue power to sille hir to an alien puple, if he forsakith hir.
Indien zij kwalijk bevalt in de ogen haars heren, dat hij haar niet ondertrouwd heeft, zo zal hij haar doen lossen; aan een vreemd volk haar te verkopen zal hij niet vermogen, dewijl hij trouweloos met haar gehandeld heeft.
9 Forsothe if he weddith hir to his sonne, he schal do to hir `bi the custom of douytris;
Maar indien hij haar aan zijn zoon ondertrouwt, zo zal hij met haar doen naar het recht der dochteren.
10 that if he takith another womman to hym, he schal puruey to the damysele weddingis, and clothis, and he schal not denye the prijs of chastite.
Indien hij voor zich een andere neemt, zo zal hij aan deze haar spijs, haar deksel, en haar huwelijksplicht niet onttrekken.
11 If he doith not these thre, sche schal go out freli without money.
En indien hij haar deze drie dingen niet doet, zo zal zij om niet uitgaan, zonder geld.
12 He that smytith a man, and wole sle, die bi deeth;
Wie iemand slaat, dat hij sterft, die zal zekerlijk gedood worden.
13 forsothe if a man settide not aspies, but God `bitook hym in to hise hondis, Y schal ordeyne a place to thee, whidur he owith to fle.
Doch die hem niet nagesteld heeft, maar God heeft hem zijn hand doen ontmoeten, zo zal Ik u een plaats bestellen, waar hij henen vliede.
14 If ony man sleeth his neiybore bi biforecastyng, and bi aspies, drawe thou hym awey fro myn auter, that he die.
Maar indien iemand tegen zijn naaste moedwillig gehandeld heeft, om hem met list te doden, zo zult gij denzelven van voor Mijn altaar nemen, dat hij sterve.
15 He that smytith his fadir, ether modir, die by deeth.
Zo wie zijn vader of zijn moeder slaat, die zal zekerlijk gedood worden.
16 He that cursith his fadir, ether modir, die bi deeth.
Verder, zo wie een mens steelt, hetzij dat hij dien verkocht heeft, of dat hij in zijn hand gevonden wordt, die zal zekerlijk gedood worden.
17 He that stelith a man, and sillith hym, if he is conuyt of the gilt, die bi deeth.
Wie ook zijn vader of zijn moeder vloekt, die zal zekerlijk gedood worden.
18 If men chiden, and the tother smyte his neiybore with a stoon, ether with the fist, and he is not deed, but liggith in the bed,
En wanneer mannen twisten, en de een slaat den ander met een steen, of met een vuist, en hij sterft niet, maar valt te bedde;
19 if he risith, and goith forth on his staf, he that smoot schal be innocent; so netheles that he restore hise trauelis, and costis in lechis.
Indien hij weder opstaat, en op straat gaat bij zijn stok, zo zal hij, die hem sloeg, onschuldig zijn; alleen zal hij geven hetgeen hij verzuimd heeft, en hij zal hem volkomen laten helen.
20 He that smytith his seruaunt, ether handmayde, with a yerde, and thei ben deed in hise hondis, schal be gilti of cryme.
Wanneer ook iemand zijn dienstknecht of zijn dienstmaagd met een stok slaat, dat hij onder zijn hand sterft, die zal zekerlijk gewroken worden.
21 Sotheli if the seruaunt ouerlyueth o dai, ether tweyne, he schal not be suget to peyne, `that is of deeth, for the seruaunt is his catel.
Zo hij nochtans een dag of twee dagen overeind blijft, zo zal hij niet gewroken worden; want hij is zijn geld.
22 If men chiden, and a man smytith a womman with childe, and sotheli makith the child deed borun, but the womman ouerlyueth, he schal be suget to the harm, as myche as the `hosebonde of the womman axith, and the iugis demen.
Wanneer nu mannen kijven, en slaan een zwangere vrouw, dat haar de vrucht afgaat, doch geen dodelijk verderf zij, zo zal hij zekerlijk gestraft worden, gelijk als hem de man der vrouw oplegt, en hij zal het geven door de rechters.
23 But if the deeth of hir sueth,
Maar indien er een dodelijk verderf zal zijn, zo zult gij geven ziel voor ziel,
24 he schal yelde lijf for lijf, iye for iye, tooth for tooth, hond for hond, foot for foot,
Oog voor oog, tand voor tand, hand voor hand, voet voor voet.
25 brennyng for brennyng, wounde `with schedyng of blood for wounde `with schedyng of blood, `a wan wounde for a wan wounde.
Brand voor brand, wond voor wond, buil voor buil.
26 If a man smytith the iye of his seruaunt, ethir of handmaide, and makith hem oon iyed, he schal delyuere hem fre for `the iye which he puttide out.
Wanneer ook iemand het oog van zijn dienstknecht, of het oog van zijn dienstmaagd slaat, en verderft het, hij zal hem vrij laten gaan voor zijn oog.
27 Also if he smytith out a tooth fro his seruaunt, ethir handmaide, in lijk maner he schal delyuere hem fre.
En indien hij een tand van zijn dienstknecht, of een tand van zijn dienstmaagd uitslaat, zo zal hij hem vrijlaten voor zijn tand.
28 If an oxe smytith with horn a man, ether a womman, and thei ben deed, the oxe schal be oppressid with stoonus, and hise fleischis schulen not be etun, and the lord of the oxe schal be innocent.
En wanneer een os een man of een vrouw stoot, dat hij sterft, zal de os zekerlijk gestenigd worden, en zijn vlees zal niet gegeten worden; maar de heer van den os zal onschuldig zijn.
29 That if the oxe was `a pultere with horn fro yisterdai and the thridde dai ago, and men warneden `the lord of hym, nether the lord closide hym, and he sleeth a man, ethir womman, bothe the oxe schal be oppressid with stoonus, and thei schulen sle `the lord of hym;
Maar indien de os te voren stotig geweest is, en zijn heer is daarvan overtuigd geweest, en hij hem niet bewaard heeft, en hij doodt een man of een vrouw, zo zal die os gestenigd worden, en zijn heer zal ook gedood worden.
30 that if prijs is put to the lord, he schal yyue for his lijf what euer he is axide.
Indien hem losgeld opgelegd wordt, zo zal hij tot lossing zijner ziel geven naar alles, wat hem zal opgelegd worden;
31 And if he smytith with horn a son, and a douytir, he schal be suget to lijk sentence.
Hetzij dat hij een zoon gestoten heeft, of een dochter gestoten heeft, naar dat recht zal hem gedaan worden.
32 If the oxe asailith a seruaunt, and handmaide, the lord of the oxe schal yyue thretti siclis of siluer to `his lord; forsothe the oxe schal be oppressid with stoonus.
Indien de os een knecht of een dienstmaagd stoot, hij zal zijn heer dertig zilverlingen geven, en de os zal gestenigd worden.
33 If ony man openeth a cisterne, and diggith, and hilith it not, and an oxe ether asse fallith in to it,
En wanneer iemand een kuil opent, of wanneer iemand een kuil graaft, en hij dekt hem niet toe, en een os of ezel valt daarin;
34 the lord of the cisterne schal yelde the prijs of the werk beestis; forsothe that that is deed schal be his.
De heer des kuils zal het vergelden; hij zal aan deszelfs heer het geld wederkeren; doch dat dode zal zijns wezen.
35 If another mannus oxe woundith the oxe of another man, and he is deed, thei schulen sille the quyke oxe, and thei schulen departe the prijs; forsothe thei schulen departe bitwixe hem the karkeis of the deed oxe.
Wanneer nu iemands os den os van zijn naaste kwetst, dat hij sterft, zo zal men den levenden os verkopen, en het geld daarvan half en half delen, en den dode zal men ook half en half delen.
36 Forsothe if his lord wiste, that the oxe was a puttere fro yistirdai and the thridde dai ago, and kepte not him, he schal yelde oxe for oxe, and he schal take the hool carkeys.
Of is het kennelijk geweest, dat die os van te voren stotig was, en zijn heer heeft hem niet bewaard, zo zal hij in alle manier os voor os vergelden; doch de dode zal zijns wezen.
