Exodus 19
1 In the thridde monethe of the goyng `of Israel out of the lond of Egipt, in this dai thei camen in to the wildirnesse of Synai;
Am dritten Neumond nach dem Auszug der Israeliten aus Ägypten, genau auf den Tag, waren sie in die Wüste Sinai gekommen.
2 for thei yeden forth fro Rafidym, and camen til in to deseert of Synai, and settiden tentis in the same place; and there Israel settide tentis, euen ayens the hil.
Sie brachen nämlich von Raphidim auf und kamen so in die Wüste Sinai. Und sie lagerten sich in der Wüste. Und Israel lagerte dort gegenüber dem Berge.
3 Forsothe Moises stiede in to the hil to God; and the Lord clepide hym fro the mount, and seide, Thou schalt seie these thingis to the hows of Jacob, and thou schalt telle to the sones of Israel,
Moses aber stieg zu Gott hinauf. Da rief ihm der Herr vom Berge zu: "Sprich also zu dem Jakobshaus und kündige den Söhnen Israels:
4 Ye silf han seyn what thingis Y haue do to Egipcians, how Y bar you on the wengis of eglis, and took to me.
'Ihr selber habt gesehen, was ich an Ägypten getan und wie ich euch auf Adlerflügeln trug und euch zu mir herbrachte.
5 Therfor if ye schulen here my vois, and schulen kepe my couenaunt, ye schulen be to me in to a specialte of alle puplis; for al the lond is myn;
Nun sollt ihr auf meine Stimme hören: Haltet ihr meinen Bund, dann seid ihr mir aus allen Völkern ein Sondergut. Denn mein ist die ganze Erde.
6 and ye schulen be to me in to a rewme of preesthod, and `ye schulen be an hooli folk; these ben the wordis whiche thou schalt speke to the sones of Israel.
Ihr aber sollt mir sein ein Königreich von Priestern, ein heilig Volk.' Das sind die Worte, die du den Israeliten sagen sollst."
7 Moyses cam, and whanne the gretter men in birthe of the puple weren clepid to gidere, he expownede alle the wordis whiche the Lord comaundide.
Da kam Moses, berief des Volkes Ältesten und trug ihnen alle diese Worte vor, die der Herr ihm aufgetragen.
8 And alle the puple answeride to gidere, We schulen do alle thingis whiche the Lord spak. And whanne Moises hadde teld the wordis of the puple to the Lord,
Und das ganze Volk erwiderte einhellig und sprach: "Alles, was der Herr befiehlt, wollen wir tun." Und Moses überbrachte die Worte des Volkes dem Herrn.
9 the Lord seide to hym, Riyt now Y schal come to thee in a derknesse of a cloude, that the puple here me spekynge to thee, and bileue to thee withouten ende. Therfor Moises telde the wordis of the puple to the Lord,
Da sprach der Herr zu Moses: "Ich komme zu dir in dichter Wolke, damit das Volk höre, wenn ich mit dir rede, und daß sie für immer auch dir vertrauen." Moses aber berichtete die Worte des Volkes dem Herrn.
10 which seide to Moises, Go thou to the puple, and make hem holi to dai and to morewe, and waische thei her clothis,
Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: "Geh zum Volk! Bereite es vor, heute und morgen! Sie sollen saubere Kleider tragen!
11 and be thei redi in to the thridde dai; for in the thridde dai the Lord schal come doun bifore al the puple on the hil of Synai.
Für übermorgen seien sie bereit! Denn übermorgen fährt der Herr vor des ganzen Volkes Augen nieder auf den Sinaiberg.
12 And thou schalt sette termes to the puple, bi cumpas; and thou schalt seie to hem, Be ye war, that ye `stie not in to the hil, nether touche ye the endis therof; ech man that schal touche the hil, schal die bi deeth.
Das Volk aber schranke du ringsum ein und sprich: 'Hütet euch, auf den Berg zu steigen oder nur an seinen Fuß zu rühren! Wer den Berg berührt, erleidet Todesstrafe.'
13 Hondis schulen not touche hym, but he schal be oppressid with stoonus, ethir he shall be persid with dartis; whether it schal be a beest, ethir a man, it schal not lyue; whanne a clarioun schal bigynne to sowne, thanne `stie thei in to the hil.
Nicht soll eine Hand an ihn rühren! Gesteinigt oder durchstochen werde, ob Vieh oder Mensch! Nicht dürfen sie am Leben bleiben. Erst wenn das Lärmhorn tönt, dürfen sie den Berg hinaufsteigen."
14 And Moises cam doun fro the hil to the puple, and halewide it; and whanne thei hadden waischun her clothis,
Da stieg Moses von dem Berge zum Volke hinab und bereitete das Volk vor. Sie legten saubere Gewänder an.
15 he seide to hem, Be ye redi in to the thridde dai, neiye ye not to youre wyues.
Dann sprach er zum Volke: "Für übermorgen haltet euch bereit! Berührt kein Weib!"
16 And now the thridde day was comun, and the morewetid was cleer; and, lo! thundris bigunnen to be herd, and leitis to schyne, and a moost thicke cloude to hile the mounteyn; and `the sownyng of a clarioun made noise ful greetli, and the puple dredde, that was in the castels.
Als es am dritten Tage Morgen ward, brachen Donner los und Blitze. Eine schwere Wolke hing auf dem Berge, und mächtiger Hörnerschall ertönte. Da bebte alles Volk im Lager.
17 And whanne Moises hadde led hem out in to the comyng of God, fro the place of castels, thei stoden at the rootis of the hil.
Dann führte Moses das Volk Gott entgegen aus dem Lager, und am Fuße des Berges stellte es sich auf.
18 Forsothe al the hil of Synai smokide, for the Lord hadde come doun theronne in fier; and smoke stiede therof as of a furneis, and al the hil was ferdful;
Der ganze Berg Sinai aber rauchte, weil der Herr auf ihn im Feuer niedergefahren war. Und sein Rauch stieg auf, wie des Schmelzofens Rauch. Und der ganze Berg erbebte heftig.
19 and the `sown of a clarioun encreesside litil and litil, and was holdun forth lengere. Moises spak, and the Lord answeride to hym,
Der Hörnerschall aber ward immer stärker. Und Moses redete; die Gottheit aber antwortete ihm nur in einem Schall.
20 and the Lord cam doun on the hil of Synay, in thilke cop of the hil, and clepide Moises to the cop therof. And whanne he hadde stied thidur,
Der Herr fuhr also auf den Berg Sinai, auf den Gipfel des Berges, nieder. Da berief der Herr den Moses auf den Gipfel des Berges, und Moses stieg hinan.
21 the Lord seide to hym, Go thou doun, and witnesse thou to the puple, lest perauenture it wole passe the termes to se the Lord, and ful greet multitude therof perische;
Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: "Steig hinab! Schärfe dem Volke ein, daß sie nicht vorwärtsdringen, den Herrn zu schauen! Sonst würden viele aus ihnen fallen.
22 also preestis, that neiyen to the Lord, be halewid, lest Y smyte hem.
Die Priester selbst, die sonst dem Herrn nahen dürfen, müssen stehenbleiben, daß der Herr nicht gegen sie losfahre."
23 And Moises seide to the Lord, The comyn puple may not stie in to the hil of Synai; for thou hast witnessid, and hast comaundid, seiyinge, Sette thou termes aboute the hil, and halewe it.
Da sprach Moses zum Herrn: "Das Volk kann nicht den Sinaiberg besteigen; du hast ja selbst uns eingeschärft: 'Umschranke den Berg! Umhege ihn!'"
24 To whom the Lord seide, Go thou doun, and thou schalt stie, and Aaron with thee; forsothe the preestis and the puple passe not the termes, nethir stie thei to the Lord, lest perauenture he sle hem.
Da sprach der Herr zu ihm: "Geh hinab und komm mit Aaron wieder! Aber die Priester und das Volk dürfen nicht stürmisch zum Herrn heraufsteigen, daß er nicht gegen sie losfahre."
25 Moises yede doun to the puple, and telde alle thingis to hem.
Da stieg Moses zum Volke hinab und sprach mit ihm.
