Exodus 13

1 Also the Lord spak to Moises, and seide,

خداوند به موسی فرمود:

2 Halewe thou to me ech firste gendrid thing that openeth the wombe among the sones of Israel, as wel of men as of beestis, for whi alle ben myn.

«تمام نخست‌زادگان قوم اسرائیل را به من وقف کن، زیرا همۀ نخست‌زادگان، خواه انسان و خواه حیوان، به من تعلق دارند.»

3 And Moises seide to the puple, Haue ye mynde of this dai, in which ye yeden out of Egipt, and of the hows of seruage, for in strong hond the Lord ledde you out of this place, that ye ete not breed diyt with sour dow.

پس موسی به قوم گفت: «این روز را که روز رهایی شما از بردگی مصر است همیشه به یاد داشته باشید، زیرا خداوند با دست توانای خود، شما را از آن رها ساخت. به خاطر بسپارید که در این روزهای عید، باید نان بدون خمیرمایه بخورید.

4 To dai ye gon out, in the monethe of new fruytis;

امروز در ماه ابیب شما از مصر خارج می‌شوید.

5 and whanne the Lord hath led thee in to the lond of Cananey, and of Ethei, and of Amorrei, and of Euei, and of Jebusei, which lond he swoor to thi fadris, that he schulde yyue to thee, a lond flowynge with mylk and hony, thou schalt halowe this custom of holy thingis in this monethe.

خداوند به اجدادتان وعده داده است که، سرزمین کنعانی‌ها، حیتی‌ها، اموری‌ها، حوی‌ها و یبوسی‌ها را به شما واگذار کند، بنابراین، وقتی شما را به سرزمینی که به”سرزمین شیر و عسل“معروف است، داخل می‌کند، باید این روز را، هر ساله جشن بگیرید.

6 In seuene daies thou schalt ete therf looues, and the solempnete of the Lord schal be in the seuenthe dai;

به مدت هفت روز نان فطیر بخورید و در روز هفتم عیدی برای خداوند نگاه دارید.

7 ye schulen ete therf looues seuene daies, no thing diyt with sour dow schal appere at thee, nether in alle thi coostis.

در این هفت روز، نان فطیر بخورید. در خانه‌های شما و حتی در سرزمین شما اثری از خمیرمایه پیدا نشود.

8 And thou schalt telle to thi sone in that dai, and schalt seie, This it is that the Lord dide to me, whanne Y yede out of Egipt.

«هر سال هنگام برگزاری این جشن، به فرزندان خود بگویید که این جشن به مناسبت آن کار بزرگی است که خداوند به خاطر شما انجام داد و شما را از مصر بیرون آورد.

9 And it schal be as a signe in thin hond, and as a memorial before thin iyen, and that the lawe of the Lord be euere in thi mouth; for in a strong hond the Lord ledde thee out of Egipt, and of the hows of seruage.

این جشن مانند علامتی بر دستتان یا نشانی بر پیشانی‌تان خواهد بود تا به شما یادآوری نماید که همیشه در شریعت خداوند تفکر کنید و از آن سخن بگویید، زیرا خداوند با قدرت عظیم خود، شما را از مصر بیرون آورد.

10 Thou schalt kepe siche a worschipyng in tyme ordeined, `fro daies in to daies.

«پس هر سال در موعد مقرر این عید را جشن بگیرید.

11 And whanne the Lord hath brouyt thee in to the lond of Cananey, as he swoor to thee, and to thi fadris, and hath youe it to thee,

«زمانی که خداوند، شما را به سرزمین کنعان که وعدهٔ آن را از پیش به اجداد شما داده بود بیاورد، به خاطر داشته باشید که

12 thou schalt departe to the Lord al the thing that openeth the wombe, and that that is the firste in thi beestis; what euer thing thou hast of male kynde, thou schalt halewe to the Lord.

پسران نخست‌زادۀ شما و همچنین نخست‌زادهٔ نر حیوانات شما از آنِ خداوند می‌باشند و باید آنها را وقف خدا کنید.

13 Thou schalt chaunge the firste gendrid of an asse for a scheep, that if thou ayen biest not, thou schalt sle; forsothe thou schalt ayen bie with prijs al the firste gendrid of man of thi sones.

به جای نخست‌زادهٔ الاغ، بره‌ای فدیه دهید. ولی اگر نخواستید آن را با بره عوض کنید، باید گردن الاغ را بشکنید. اما برای پسران نخست‌زادۀ خود حتماً باید فدیه بدهید.

14 And whanne thi sone schal axe thee to morewe, and seie, What is this? thou schalt answere to hym, In a strong hond the Lord ladde vs out of the lond of Egipt, of the hows of seruage; for whanne Farao was maad hard,

«در آینده وقتی فرزندانتان از شما بپرسند:”این کارها برای چیست؟“بگویید:”خداوند با دست توانای خود ما را از بردگی مصری‌ها نجات بخشید.

15 and nolde delyuere vs, the Lord killide alle the firste gendrid thing in the lond of Egipt, fro the firste gendrid of man til to the firste gendrid of beestis; therfor Y offre to the Lord al thing of male kynde that openeth the wombe, and Y ayen bie alle the firste gendrid thingis of my sones.

چون فرعون ما را از اسارت رها نمی‌کرد، برای همین، خداوند تمام پسران نخست‌زادۀ مصری‌ها و همچنین نخست‌زاده‌های نر حیوانات آنان را هلاک کرد تا ما را نجات دهد. به همین دلیل نخست‌زادهٔ نر حیوانات خود را برای خداوند قربانی می‌کنیم تا برای پسران نخست‌زادۀ خود فدیه دهیم.“

16 Therfor it schal be as a signe in thin hond, and as a thing hangid for mynde bifore thin iyen, for in a strong hond the Lord ledde vs out of Egipt.

این جشن مانند علامتی بر دستتان و یا نشانی بر پیشانی‌تان خواهد بود تا به یاد شما آورد که خداوند با دست قوی خود ما را از مصر بیرون آورد.»

17 Therfor whanne Farao hadde sent out the puple, God ledde not hem out bi the weie of `the lond of Filisteis, which is niy; and arettid lest perauenture it wolde repente the puple, if he had seyn batelis rise ayens hym, and `the puple wolde turn ayen in to Egipt;

وقتی سرانجام فرعون به قوم اسرائیل اجازه داد تا از مصر بروند، خدا آنان را از راه اصلی که از سرزمین فلسطینی‌ها می‌گذشت نبرد، هرچند آن راه نزدیکتر بود. خدا گفت: «اگر قوم با جنگ روبرو شوند، ممکن است پشیمان شده، به مصر برگردند.»

18 but God ledde aboute by the weie of deseert, which weie is bisidis the reed see. And the sones of Israel weren armed, and stieden fro the lond of Egipte.

پس خدا آنها را از طریق صحرایی که در حاشیهٔ دریای سرخ بود هدایت نمود. بدین ترتیب قوم اسرائیل مانند لشکری مسلح از مصر بیرون رفتند.

19 And Moises took the boonus of Joseph with hym, for he hadde chargid the sones of Israel, and hadde seid, God schal visite you, and bere ye out `fro hennus my boonus with you.

موسی در این سفر استخوانهای یوسف را نیز همراه خود برد، چون یوسف در زمان حیات خود بنی‌اسرائیل را قسم داده، گفته بود: «وقتی خدا شما را برهاند، استخوانهای مرا هم با خود از اینجا ببرید.»

20 And thei yeden forth fro Socoth, and settiden tentis in Etham, in the laste endis of wildirnesse.

پس قوم اسرائیل سوکوت را ترک کرده، در ایتام که در حاشیهٔ صحرا بود، خیمه زدند.

21 Forsothe the Lord yede bifore hem to schewe the weie, bi dai in a piler of clowde, and bi nyyt in a piler of fier, that he schulde be ledere of the weie in euer either time;

در این سفر، خداوند ایشان را در روز به‌وسیلهٔ ستونی از ابر و در شب به‌وسیلۀ ستونی از آتش هدایت می‌کرد. از این جهت هم در روز می‌توانستند سفر کنند و هم در شب.

22 the piler of clowde failide neuere bi dai, nether the piler of fier bi niyt, bifor the puple.

ستونهای ابر و آتش لحظه‌ای از برابر آنها دور نمی‌شد.
