Deuteronomy 7
1 Whanne thi Lord God hath lad thee in to the lond, in to which thou schalt entre to welde, and hath do awey many folkis bifor thee, Ethei, and Gergesei, and Ammorrey, Canenei, and Pherezei, Euey, and Jebusei; seuene folkis, of myche gretter noumbre than thou art, and strengere than thou;
Cuando Yavé tu ʼElohim te introduzca en la tierra a la cual entrarás para poseerla, y expulse de delante de ti a muchas naciones: al heteo, al gergeseo, al amorreo, al cananeo, al ferezeo, al heveo y al jebuseo, siete naciones mayores y más fuertes que tú,
2 and thi Lord God hath bitake hem to thee, thou schalt smyte hem `til to deeth, thou schalt not make `with hem a boond of pees, nether thou schalt haue merci on hem,
y Yavé tu ʼElohim las entregue ante ti y las derrotes, las destruirás por completo. No harás pacto con ellas, ni les tendrás compasión.
3 nether thou schalt felowschipe mariagis with him; thou schalt not yyue thi douyter to the sone `of hym, nether thou schalt take his douytir to thi sone;
No emparentarás con ellas. No darás tus hijas a sus hijos ni tomarás sus hijas para tus hijos,
4 for sche schal disceyue thi sone, that he sue not me, and that he serue more alien goddis; and the strong veniaunce of the Lord schal be wrooth, and schal do awei thee soone.
porque apartarán a tu hijo de seguirme para servir a otros ʼelohim. La ira de Yavé se encenderá contra ustedes y los destruirá pronto.
5 But rather thou schalt do these thingis to hem; destrie ye the auteris `of hem, and breke ye ymagis `of metal, and kitte ye doun wodis, and brenne ye grauun ymagis.
Esto es lo que harán con ellos: demolerán sus altares, destruirán sus estelas, talarán sus Aseras y quemarán sus imágenes en el fuego.
6 For thou art an hooli puple to thi Lord God; thi Lord God chees thee, that thou be a special puple to hym, of alle puplis that ben on erthe.
Porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado a Yavé tu ʼElohim. Yavé tu ʼElohim te escogió a ti de entre todos los pueblos de la superficie de la tierra para que seas un pueblo de su propia posesión.
7 Not for ye ouercamen in noumbre alle folkis, the Lord is ioyned to you, and chees yow, sithen ye ben fewere than alle puplis;
Yavé no se agradó de ustedes ni los escogió porque eran más numerosos que cualquiera de los pueblos, porque ustedes eran el pueblo más pequeño,
8 but for the Lord louede you, and kepte the ooth which he swoor to youre fadris; and he ledde you out in strong hond, and ayen bouyte you fro the hows of seruage, fro `the hows of Farao, kyng of Egipt.
sino porque Yavé los ama, y quiso cumplir el juramento que hizo a sus antepasados. Yavé los sacó con mano fuerte y los redimió de la casa de esclavitud, del dominio de Faraón, rey de Egipto.
9 And thou schalt wite, that thi Lord God hym silf is a strong God, and feithful, and kepith couenaunt and mersi to hem that louen hym, and to hem that kepen hise comaundementis, in to a thousynde generaciouns;
Reconoce que Yavé tu ʼElohim es fiel, que guarda el Pacto y la misericordia hasta 1.000 generaciones de los que lo aman y guardan sus Mandamientos,
10 and yeldith anoon to hem that haten hym, so that he destrie hem, and differr no lengere; restorynge anoon to hem that that thei disseruen.
pero retribuye en sus caras a los que lo aborrecen hasta destruirlos. No demorará. Al que lo aborrece le dará el pago en su misma cara.
11 Therfor kepe thou the comaundementis, and cerymonyes, and domes, whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, that thou do.
Por tanto, guarda el Mandamiento, los Estatutos y las Ordenanzas que hoy te ordeno para que los practiques.
12 If aftir that thou herist these domes, thou kepist, and doist tho, thi Lord God schal kepe to thee couenaunt, and mersi, which he swoor to thi fadris.
Entonces sucederá que por cuanto tú escuchas estos Decretos, los guardas y los practicas, también Yavé tu ʼElohim guardará contigo el Pacto y la misericordia que juró a tus antepasados.
13 And he schal loue thee, and schal multiplie thee, and he schal blesse the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond, thi wheete, and vindage, oile, and droues of beestis, and the flockis of thi scheep, on the lond for which he swoor to thi fadris, that he schulde yyue it to thee.
Te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará. Bendecirá también el fruto de tu vientre, el fruto de tu tierra, tu grano, tu mosto, tu aceite, las crías de tus manadas de ganado vacuno y el incremento de tu rebaño en la tierra que Él juró a tus antepasados que te daría.
14 Thou schalt be blessid among alle puplis; noon bareyn of euer eithir kynde schal be at thee, as well in men, as in thi flockis.
Serás bendecido más que todos los pueblos. No habrá hombre ni mujer estéril entre ustedes, ni en tu ganado.
15 The Lord schal do awei fro thee all ache, `ether sorewe; and he schal not brynge to thee the worste siknessis of Egipt, whiche thou knewist, but to alle thin enemyes.
Yavé quitará de ti toda enfermedad y todas las malas plagas de Egipto que tú conoces, pero las cargará sobre todos los que te aborrecen.
16 And thou schalt `deuoure, that is, distrie, alle puplis, whiche thi Lord God schal yyue to thee; thin iye schal not spare hem, nethir thou schalt serue the goddis `of hem, lest thei ben in to the fallyng of thee.
Destruye todos los pueblos que Yavé tu ʼElohim te entregue. No tengas compasión de ellos ni rindas culto a sus ʼelohim, porque eso será una trampa para ti.
17 If thou seist in thin herte, These folkis ben mo than Y, hou may Y do awei hem?
Si dices en tu corazón: Estas naciones son más grandes que yo, ¿cómo puedo desposeerlas?
18 `nyle thou drede, but haue thou mynde, what thingis thi Lord God dide to Farao, and alle Egipcians;
No les temas. Recuerda bien lo que Yavé tu ʼElohim hizo con Faraón y con todo Egipto.
19 `he dide the gretteste veniaunces, whiche thin iyen sien, and miraclis and grete wondris, and the strong hond, and arm `holdun forth, that thi Lord God schulde lede thee out; so he schal do to alle puplis whiche thou dredist.
Las pruebas tremendas que vieron tus ojos, las señales y los portentos, la mano fuerte y el brazo extendido con el cual te sacó Yavé tu ʼElohim. Así hará Yavé tu ʼElohim a todos los pueblos de cuya presencia tengas temor.
20 Ferthermore and thi Lord God schal sende venemouse flies in to hem, til he do awei, and destrye alle men, that fledden thee, and thei schulen not mowe be hid.
Yavé tu ʼElohim enviará avispas contra ellos, hasta que perezcan los que queden escondidos de ti.
21 Thou schalt not drede hem, for thi Lord is in the myddis of thee, grete God, and ferdful.
No desmayes ante ellos, porque Yavé tu ʼElohim está en medio de ti, ʼElohim grande y terrible.
22 He hym silf schal waste these naciouns in thi siyt, litil and litil, and bi partis; thou schalt not mow do awey `tho naciouns togidere, lest peraventure beestis of erthe be multiplied ayens thee;
Yavé tu ʼElohim expulsará a esos pueblos de delante de ti poco a poco. No podrás exterminarlos de inmediato, no sea que las fieras del campo sean demasiado numerosas para ti.
23 and thi Lord God schal yyue hem in thi siyt, and he schal sle hem, til thei be doon awey outerly.
Yavé tu ʼElohim los entregará delante de ti, e infligirá derrota sobre ellos hasta que sean destruidos.
24 And he schal bitake the kyngis `of hem in to thin hondis, and thou schalt destrie the names `of hem vndur heuene; noon schal mow ayenstonde thee, til thou al to-breke hem.
Él entregará sus reyes en tu mano, y destruirás sus nombres de debajo del cielo. Nadie te podrá hacer frente hasta que los destruyas.
25 Thou schalt brenne in fier the grauun ymagis `of hem; thou schalt not coueite the siluer and gold, of whiche tho ymagis ben maad, nether thou schalt take of tho ony thing to thee, lest thou offende therfor, for it is abhominacioun of thi Lord God.
Quemarás con fuego las esculturas de sus ʼelohim. No codiciarás la plata ni el oro que las recubre, ni te lo apropiarás, no sea que tropieces en ello, porque es repugnancia para Yavé tu ʼElohim.
26 Nether thou schalt brynge ony thing of the idol in to thin hous, lest thou be maad cursid, as also that idol is; thou schalt wlate it as filthe, and thou schalt haue it as defoulyng, and filthis of abhomynacioun, for it is cursid.
No introduzcas en tu casa alguna cosa repugnante para que no seas maldición. La aborrecerás y la repugnarás completamente, porque es maldición.
