Deuteronomy 6

1 These ben the comaundementis, and cerymonyes, and domes, whiche youre Lord God comaundide that Y schulde teche you, and that ye do tho in the lond to which ye passen ouer to welde;

Och dessa äro de bud, stadgar och rätter som HERREN, eder Gud, har bjudit mig att lära eder, för att I skolen göra efter dem i det land dit I nu dragen, till att taga de i besittning --

2 that thou drede thi Lord God, and kepe alle hise comaundementis, and heestis, whiche Y comaunde to thee, and to thi sones, and sones of sones, in alle the daies of thi lijf, that thi daies be lengthid.

detta på det att du må frukta HERREN, din Gud, så att du håller alla hans stadgar och bud, som jag giver dig, du med din som och din sonson, i all dina livsdagar, och på det att du må länge leva.

3 Thou Israel, here, and kepe, that thou do tho thingis whiche the Lord comaundide to thee, and that it be wel to thee, and thou be multiplied more, as the Lord God of thi fadris bihiyte, to yyue to thee a lond flowynge with mylk and hony.

Så skall du nu höra, Israel, och hålla dem och göra efter dem, för att det må gå dig väl, och för att I mån föröka eder mycket, såsom HERREN, dina fäders Gud, har lovat dig -- ett land som flyter av mjölk och honung.

4 Thou Israel, here, thi Lord God is o God.

Hör, Israel! HERREN, vår gud, HERREN är en.

5 Thou schalt loue thi Lord God of al thin herte, and of al thi soule, and of al thi strengthe.

Och du skall älska HERREN, din Gud, av allt ditt hjärta och av all din själ och av all din kraft.

6 And these wordis whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, schulen be in thin herte;

Dessa ord som jag i dag giver dig skall du lägga på ditt hjärta.

7 and thou schalt telle tho to thi sones, and thou schalt thenke on tho, sittynge in thin hows, and goynge in the weie, slepynge, and rysinge.

Och du skall inskärpa dem hos dina barn och tala om dem, när du sitter i ditt hus och när du går på vägen, när du lägger dig och när du står upp.

8 And thou schalt bynde tho as a signe in thin hond; and tho schulen be, and schulen be moued bifor thin iyen; and thou schalt write tho in the lyntel,

Och du skall binda dem såsom ett tecken på din hand, och de skola vara såsom ett märke på din panna.

9 and in the doris of thin hows.

Och du skall skriva dem på dörrposterna i ditt hus och på dina portar.

10 And whanne thi Lord God hath brouyt thee in to the lond, for which he swoor to thi fadris, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and hath youe to thee grete citees, and beeste, whiche thou bildidist not,

När nu HERREN, din Gud, låter dig komma in i det land som han med ed har lovat dina fäder, Abraham, Isak och Jakob, att giva dig -- stora och vackra städer, som du icke har byggt,

11 housis fulle of alle richessis, whiche thou madist not, and cisternes, which thou diggedist not, `places of vynes, and `places of olyues, whiche thou plauntidist not,

och hus, fulla med allt gott, vilka du icke har fyllt, och uthuggna brunnar, som du icke har huggit ut, vingårdar och olivplanteringar, som du icke har planterat -- och när du då äter och bliver mätt,

12 and thou hast ete, and art fillid,

så tag dig till vara för att förgäta HERREN, som har fört dig ut ur Egyptens land, ur träldomshuset.

13 be war diligentli, lest thou foryete the Lord, that ladde thee out of the lond of Egipt, fro the hows of seruage. Thou schalt drede thi Lord God, and thou schalt serue hym aloone, `bi seruyce due to God onely, and thou schalt swere bi his name.

HERREN, din Gud, skall du frukta, och honom skall du tjäna, och vid hans namn skall du svärja.

14 Ye schulen not go aftir alien goddis, of alle hethen men that ben `in youre cumpas;

I skolen icke följa efter andra gudar, någon av de folks gudar, som bo runt omkring eder,

15 for God is a feruent louyere, thi Lord God is in the myddis of thee, lest ony tyme the `strong veniaunce of thi Lord God be wrooth ayens thee, and do awei thee fro `the face of the erthe.

ty en nitälskande Gud är HERREN, din Gud, mitt ibland dig, och du må taga dig till vara, så att icke HERRENS, din Guds, vrede upptändes mot dig, och han utrotar dig från jorden.

16 Thou schalt not tempte thi Lord God, as thou temptidist in the place of temptyng.

I skolen icke fresta HERREN, eder Gud, såsom I frestaden honom i Massa.

17 Kepe thou the comaundementis of thi Lord God, and the witnessyngis, and cerymonyes, whiche he comaundide to thee;

I skolen troget hålla HERRENS, eder Guds, bud och de vittnesbörd och stadgar som han hat givit dig.

18 and do thou that that is plesaunt and good in the siyt of the Lord, that it be wel to thee, and that thou entre, and welde the beste lond, of which the Lord swoor to thi fadris,

Och du skall göra vad rätt och gott är i HERRENS ögon, för att det må gå dig väl, och för att du må komma in i det goda land som HERREN med ed har lovat åt dina fäder, och taga det i besittning,

19 that he schulde do awey alle thin enemyes bifor thee, as he spak.

därigenom att han driver undan för dig all dina fiender, såsom HERREN har lovat.

20 And whanne thi sone schal axe thee to morewe, that is, in tyme comyng, and schal seie, What wolen these witnessyngis, and cerymonyes, and domes to hem silf, whiche oure Lord God comaundide to vs?

När din son i framtiden frågar dig: »Vad betyda de vittnesbörd och stadgar och rätter som HERREN, vår Gud, har givit eder?»

21 thou schalt seie to hym, We weren `seruauntis of Farao in Egipt, and the Lord ledde vs out of Egipt, in strong hond;

då skall du svara din son: »Vi voro Faraos trälar i Egypten, men med stark hand förde HERREN oss ut ur Egypten.

22 and he dide myraclis, and grete wondris, and werste, `that is, moost peyneful veniaunces, in Egipt, ayens Farao and al his hows, in oure siyt.

Och HERREN gjorde stora och gruvliga tecken och under i Egypten på Farao och hela hans hus inför våra ögon.

23 And he ledde vs out therof, that he schulde yyue to vs led yn, the lond of which he swoor to oure fadris.

Men oss förde han ut därifrån, för att låta oss komma in och giva oss det land som han med ed har lovat åt våra fäder.

24 And the Lord comaundide to vs, that we do alle these lawful thingis, and drede oure Lord God, that it be wel to vs in alle the daies of oure lijf, as it is to dai.

Och HERREN bjöd oss att göra efter all dessa stadgar och att frukta HERREN, vår Gud, för att det alltid skulle gå oss väl, i det att han behölle oss vid liv, såsom ock hittills har skett.

25 And he schal be merciful to vs, if we schulen do and kepe alle hise heestis, bifor oure Lord God, as he comaundide to vs.

Och det skall lända oss till rättfärdighet, när vi hålla och göra efter alla dessa bud, inför HERREN, vår Guds, ansikte, såsom han har bjudit oss.»
