Deuteronomy 3
1 And so we turneden, and stieden bi the weie of Basan; and Og, the kyng of Basan, yede out ayens vs with his puple, to fiyte in Edrai.
Puis nous nous tournâmes, et nous montâmes par le chemin de Basan. Og, roi de Basan, sortit contre nous, lui et tout son peuple, pour nous combattre à Édréi.
2 And the Lord seide to me, Drede thou not hym, for he is bitakun in thin hond, with al his puple, and his lond; and thou schalt do to hym, as thou didist to Seon, kyng of Ammoreis, that dwellide in Esebon.
Yahvé me dit: « Ne le crains pas, car je l'ai livré entre tes mains, avec tout son peuple et son pays. Tu lui feras ce que tu as fait à Sihon, roi des Amoréens, qui habitait à Heshbon. »
3 Therfor oure Lord God bitook in oure hondis also Og, kyng of Basan, and al his puple; and we han smyte hym `til to deeth,
Et Yahvé, notre Dieu, livra aussi entre nos mains Og, roi de Basan, et tout son peuple. Nous le frappâmes jusqu'à ce qu'il ne lui restât plus personne.
4 and wastiden alle the citees `of him in o tyme; no town was that ascapide vs; `we destrieden sixti citees, al the cuntrei of Argob, of the rewme of Og in Basan.
Nous avons pris toutes ses villes à cette époque. Il n'y eut pas une ville que nous n'ayons prise: soixante villes, toute la région d'Argob, le royaume d'Og en Basan.
5 Alle the citees weren strengthid with hiyest wallis, and with yatis and barris; with out townes vnnoumbrable, that hadden not wallis.
Toutes ces villes étaient fortifiées par de hautes murailles, des portes et des barres, sans compter les nombreux villages sans murailles.
6 And we diden awey thilke men, as we diden to Seon, kyng of Esebon; and we losten ech citee, and men, and wymmen, and litle children;
Nous les détruisîmes par interdit, comme nous l'avions fait à Sihon, roi de Heshbon, en dévastant par interdit toutes les villes habitées, avec les femmes et les petits enfants.
7 forsothe we token bi prey beestis, and the spuylis of citees.
Mais nous prîmes pour nous tout le bétail et le butin des villes.
8 And we token in that tyme the lond fro the hond of twey kyngis of Ammorreis, that weren biyonde Jordan, fro the stronde of Arnon `til to the hil of Hermon,
En ce temps-là, nous prîmes le pays de la main des deux rois des Amoréens qui étaient au-delà du Jourdain, depuis le val de l'Arnon jusqu'au mont Hermon.
9 `which hil Sidonyes clepen Sarion, and Ammorreis clepen Sanyr.
(Les Sidoniens appellent Hermon Sirion, et les Amoréens l'appellent Senir.)
10 We tooken alle the citees that weren set in the pleyn, and al the lond of Galaad, and of Basan, `til to Selcha and Edray, citees of the rewme of Og, in Basan.
Nous prîmes toutes les villes de la plaine, tout Galaad et tout Basan, jusqu'à Salca et Édréi, villes du royaume d'Og en Basan.
11 For Og aloone, kyng of Basan, was left of the generacioun of giauntis; and his yrun bed is schewid, which is in Rabath, of the sones of Amon, and hath nyne cubitis of lengthe, and foure cubitis of breede, at the mesure of a cubit of mannus hond.
(Car il ne restait qu'Og, roi de Basan, du reste des Rephaïm. Voici, son sommier était un sommier de fer. N'est-ce pas à Rabba, chez les enfants d'Ammon? Sa longueur était de neuf coudées, et sa largeur de quatre coudées, selon la coudée d'un homme).
12 And we weldiden in that tyme the lond, fro Aroer, which is on the `brynke of the stronde of Arnon, `til to the myddil paart of the hil of Galaad; and Y yaf the citees `of hym to Ruben and Gad.
En ce temps-là, nous prîmes possession de ce pays: depuis Arœr, qui est près du torrent de l'Arnon, et la moitié de la montagne de Galaad, avec ses villes, je les donnai aux Rubénites et aux Gadites;
13 Forsothe Y yaf the tother part of Galaad, and al Basan, of the rewme of Og, to the half lynage of Manasses, and al the cuntrei of Argob. Al Basan was clepid the lond of giauntis.
et le reste de Galaad, et tout Basan, le royaume d'Og, je les donnai à la demi-tribu de Manassé, toute la région d'Argob, tout Basan. (On appelle ce territoire le pays des Rephaïm.
14 Jair, `sone of Manasses, weldide al the cuntrey of Argob, `til to the lond of Gesuri and of Machati; and he clepide bi his name Basan Anothiair, that is, the townes of Jair, til in to present dai.
Jaïr, fils de Manassé, prit toute la région d'Argob, jusqu'à la frontière des Gueschuriens et des Maacathiens, et il leur donna le nom de Basan, d'après son propre nom, Havvoth Jaïr, jusqu'à ce jour).
15 Also Y yaf Galaad to Machir; and to the lynagis of Ruben and of Gad Y yaf the lond of Galaad, `til to the strond of Arnon, the myddil of the stronde,
Je donnai Galaad à Makir.
16 and of the endis `til to the stronde of Jeboth, which is the terme of `the sones of Amon.
Je donnai aux Rubénites et aux Gadites, depuis Galaad jusqu'au torrent de l'Arnon, le milieu du torrent, et sa limite, jusqu'au fleuve Jabbok, qui est la limite des fils d'Ammon.
17 And Y yaf the pleyn of the wildernesse `til to Jordan, and the termes of Cenereth `til to the see of deseert, which see is moost salt, at the rotis of the hil of Phasga, ayens the eest.
La plaine, le Jourdain et sa limite, depuis Kinnéreth jusqu'à la mer de la plaine, la mer Salée, sous les pentes du Pisga, à l'orient.
18 And Y comaundide to you in that tyme, and seide, Youre Lord God yyueth to you this lond in to erytage;
En ce temps-là, je vous ai donné cet ordre: « Yahvé ton Dieu t'a donné ce pays pour que tu en prennes possession. Vous tous, hommes de valeur, vous passerez armés devant vos frères, les enfants d'Israël.
19 alle ye stronge men, without wyues and litle children and beestis, be maad redi, and `go ye bifor youre brithren, the sones of Israel. For Y knowe that ye han many beestis, and tho schulen dwelle in citees whiche Y yaf to you,
Mais vos femmes, vos petits enfants et vos troupeaux (je sais que vous avez beaucoup de bétail) habiteront dans les villes que je vous ai données,
20 til the Lord yyue reste to youre brithren, as he yaf to you, and til thei also welden the lond `which the Lord schal yyue to hem biyonde Jordan; thanne ech man schal turne ayen in to his possessioun which Y yaf to you.
jusqu'à ce que l'Éternel donne du repos à vos frères, comme à vous, et qu'ils possèdent aussi le pays que l'Éternel, votre Dieu, leur donne au-delà du Jourdain. Alors vous retournerez chacun dans sa propriété, que je vous ai donnée. »
21 Also Y comaundid to Josue in that tyme, and seide, Thin iyen sien what thingis youre Lord God dide to these twei kyngis; so he schal do to alle rewmes, to whiche thou schalt go; drede thou not hem.
En ce temps-là, je donnai cet ordre à Josué: « Tes yeux ont vu tout ce que Yahvé ton Dieu a fait à ces deux rois. C'est ainsi que Yahvé fera à tous les royaumes où tu passeras.
22 And Y preiede the Lord in that tyme,
Tu ne les craindras pas, car Yahvé ton Dieu combat lui-même pour toi. »
23 and seide, Lord God, thou hast bigunne to schewe to thi seruaunt thi greetnesse, and strongeste hond,
En ce temps-là, je suppliai Yahvé, en disant:
24 for noon other God is ether in heuene, ether in erthe, that mai do thi werkis, and may be comparisound to thi strengthe.
« Seigneur Yahvé, tu as commencé à montrer à ton serviteur ta grandeur et ta main puissante. Car quel dieu y a-t-il dans les cieux et sur la terre qui puisse faire des œuvres comme les tiennes, et des actes de puissance comme les tiens?
25 Therfor Y schal passe, and schal se this beeste lond biyende Jordan, and this noble hil and Liban.
Je t'en prie, laisse-moi aller voir le bon pays qui est au-delà du Jourdain, cette belle montagne et le Liban. »
26 And the Lord was wrooth to me for you, nethir he herde me, but seide to me, It suffisith to thee; speke thou no more of this thing to me.
Mais Yahvé s'est mis en colère contre moi à cause de vous, et il ne m'a pas écouté. L'Éternel m'a dit: « C'est assez! Ne me parle plus de cette affaire.
27 `Stye thou in to the hiynesse of Phasga, and caste aboute thin iyen to the west, and north, and south, and eest, and biholde, for thou schalt not passe this Jordan.
Monte au sommet du Pisga, et lève tes yeux vers l'ouest, le nord, le sud et l'est, et regarde de tes yeux, car tu ne passeras pas ce Jourdain.
28 Comaunde thou to Josue, and strengthe thou and coumforte hym; for he schal go bifore this puple, and he schal departe to hem the lond, which thou schalt se.
Mais commandez à Josué, encouragez-le et fortifiez-le, car il passera devant ce peuple, et il lui fera hériter le pays que vous verrez. »
29 And we dwelliden in the valey ayens the temple of Phegor.
Nous restâmes donc dans la vallée, près de Beth Peor.
