Deuteronomy 28
1 Forsothe if thou herist the vois of thi Lord God, that thou do and kepe alle hise comaundementis, whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, thi Lord God schal make the hiyere than alle folkis that lyuen in erthe.
Se tu obbedirai fedelmente alla voce del Signore tuo Dio, preoccupandoti di mettere in pratica tutti i suoi comandi che io ti prescrivo, il Signore tuo Dio ti metterà sopra tutte le nazioni della terra;
2 And alle these blessyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen take thee; if netheles thou herist hise comaundementis.
perché tu avrai ascoltato la voce del Signore tuo Dio, verranno su di te e ti raggiungeranno tutte queste benedizioni:
3 Thou schalt be blessid in citee, and blessid in feeld;
Sarai benedetto nella città e benedetto nella campagna.
4 blessid schal be the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond, and the fruit of thi beestis; `blessid schulen be the flockis of thi grete beestis, and the fooldis of thi scheep;
Benedetto sarà il frutto del tuo seno, il frutto del tuo suolo e il frutto del tuo bestiame; benedetti i parti delle tue vacche e i nati delle tue pecore.
5 blessid schulen be thi bernes, and `blessid schulen be `thi relifs;
Benedette saranno la tua cesta e la tua madia.
6 thou schalt be blessid entrynge, and goynge out.
Sarai benedetto quando entri e benedetto quando esci.
7 The Lord schal yyue thin enemyes fallynge in thi siyt, that schulen rise ayens thee; bi o weie thei schulen come ayens thee, and by seuene weies thei schulen fle fro thi face.
Il Signore lascerà sconfiggere davanti a te i tuoi nemici, che insorgeranno contro di te: per una sola via verranno contro di te e per sette vie fuggiranno davanti a te.
8 The Lord schal sende out blessyng on thi celeris, and on alle the werkis of thin hondis; and he schal blesse thee in the lond which thou hast take.
Il Signore ordinerà alla benedizione di essere con te nei tuoi granai e in tutto ciò a cui metterai mano; ti benedirà nel paese che il Signore tuo Dio sta per darti.
9 The Lord schal reise thee to hym silf in to an hooli puple, as he swoor to thee, if thou kepist the heestis of thi Lord God, and goist in his weies.
Il Signore ti renderà popolo a lui consacrato, come ti ha giurato, se osserverai i comandi del Signore tuo Dio e se camminerai per le sue vie;
10 And alle the puples of londis schulen se, that the name of the Lord is inwardli clepid on thee, and thei schulen drede thee.
tutti i popoli della terra vedranno che porti il nome del Signore e ti temeranno.
11 The Lord schal make thee to be plenteuouse in alle goodis, in fruyt of thi wombe, and in fruyt of thi beestis, in the fruyt of thi lond, which the Lord swoor to thi fadris, that he schulde yyue to thee.
Il Signore tuo Dio ti concederà abbondanza di beni, quanto al frutto del tuo grembo, al frutto del tuo bestiame e al frutto del tuo suolo, nel paese che il Signore ha giurato ai tuoi padri di darti.
12 The Lord schal opene his beste tresour, heuene, that he yyue reyn to thi lond in his tyme; and he schal blesse alle the werkis of thin hondis; and thou schalt leene to many folkis, and of no man thou schalt take borewyng.
Il Signore aprirà per te il suo benefico tesoro, il cielo, per dare alla tua terra la pioggia a suo tempo e per benedire tutto il lavoro delle tue mani; così presterai a molte nazioni, mentre tu non domanderai prestiti.
13 The Lord God schal sette thee in to the heed, and not in to the tail, and euere thou schalt be aboue, and not bynethe; if netheles thou herist the comaundementis of thi Lord God, whiche Y comaunde to thee to day, and kepist,
Il Signore ti metterà in testa e non in coda e sarai sempre in alto e mai in basso, se obbedirai ai comandi del Signore tuo Dio, che oggi io ti prescrivo, perché tu li osservi e li metta in pratica,
14 and doist, and bowist not awey fro tho, nether to the riyt side nether to the lefte side, nether suest alien goddis, nethir worschipist hem.
e se non devierai né a destra né a sinistra da alcuna delle cose che oggi vi comando, per seguire altri dei e servirli.
15 That if thou nylt here the vois of thi Lord God, that thou kepe and do alle hise heestis, and cerymonyes, whiche Y comaunde to thee to day, alle these cursyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen take thee.
Ma se non obbedirai alla voce del Signore tuo Dio, se non cercherai di eseguire tutti i suoi comandi e tutte le sue leggi che oggi io ti prescrivo, verranno su di te e ti raggiungeranno tutte queste maledizioni:
16 Thou schalt be cursid in citee, cursid in feeld.
sarai maledetto nella città e maledetto nella campagna.
17 Cursid `schal be thi berne, and cursid schulen be thi relifs.
Maledette saranno la tua cesta e la tua madia.
18 Cursid schal be the fruit of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond; `cursid schulen be the drooues of thin oxun, and the flockis of thi scheep.
Maledetto sarà il frutto del tuo seno e il frutto del tuo suolo; maledetti i parti delle tue vacche e i nati delle tue pecore.
19 Thou schalt be cursid goynge in, and `thou schalt be cursid goynge out.
Maledetto sarai quando entri e maledetto quando esci.
20 The Lord schal sende on thee hungur, and thurst, and blamyng in to alle thi werkis whiche thou schalt do, til he al to-breke thee, and leese swiftli, for thi werste fyndyngis, in whiche thou hast forsake me.
Il Signore lancerà contro di te la maledizione, la costernazione e la minaccia in ogni lavoro a cui metterai mano, finché tu sia distrutto e perisca rapidamente a causa delle tue azioni malvage per avermi abbandonato.
21 The Lord ioyne pestilence to thee, til he waaste thee fro the lond, to which thou schalt entre to welde.
Il Signore ti farà attaccare la peste, finché essa non ti abbia eliminato dal paese, di cui stai per entrare a prender possesso.
22 The Lord smyte thee with nedynesse, feuyr, and coold, brennynge, and heete, and with corrupt eir, and rust; and pursue thee til thou perische.
Il Signore ti colpirà con la consunzione, con la febbre, con l'infiammazione, con l'arsura, con la siccità, il carbonchio e la ruggine, che ti perseguiteranno finché tu non sia perito.
23 Heuene which is aboue thee be brasun; and the erthe which thou tredist be yrun.
Il cielo sarà di rame sopra il tuo capo e la terra sotto di te sarà di ferro.
24 The Lord yyue dust for reyn to thi lond, and aysche come doun fro heuene on thee, til thou be al to-brokun.
Il Signore darà come pioggia al tuo paese sabbia e polvere, che scenderanno dal cielo su di te finché tu sia distrutto.
25 The Lord yyue thee fallynge bifor thin enemyes; bi o weie go thou ayens hem, and bi seuene weies fle thou, and be thou scaterid bi alle the rewmes of erthe;
Il Signore ti farà sconfiggere dai tuoi nemici: per una sola via andrai contro di loro e per sette vie fuggirai davanti a loro; diventerai oggetto di orrore per tutti i regni della terra.
26 and thi deed bodi be in to mete to alle volatils of heuene, and to beestis of erthe, and noon be that dryue hem awai.
Il tuo cadavere diventerà pasto di tutti gli uccelli del cielo e delle bestie selvatiche e nessuno li scaccerà.
27 The Lord smyte thee with the botche of Egipt, and `the Lord smyte the part of bodi wherbi `ordures ben voyded; also `the Lord smyte thee with scabbe, and yicchyng, so that thou mayst not be curid.
Il Signore ti colpirà con le ulcere d'Egitto, con bubboni, scabbia e prurigine, da cui non potrai guarire.
28 The Lord smyte thee with madnesse, and blyndnesse, and woodnesse of thouyt;
Il Signore ti colpirà di delirio, di cecità e di pazzia,
29 and grope thou in mydday, as a blynd man is wont to grope in derknessis; and dresse he not thi weies; in al tyme suffre thou fals chaleng, and be thou oppressid bi violence, nethir haue thou ony that schal delyuere thee.
così che andrai brancolando in pieno giorno come il cieco brancola nel buio. Non riuscirai nelle tue imprese, sarai ogni giorno oppresso e spogliato e nessuno ti aiuterà.
30 Take thou a wijf, and anothir man sleepe with hir; bilde thou an hows, and dwelle thou not ther ynne; plaunte thou a vyner, and gadere thou not grapis therof.
Ti fidanzerai con una donna, un altro la praticherà; costruirai una casa, ma non vi abiterai; pianterai una vigna e non ne potrai cogliere i primi frutti.
31 Thin oxe be offrid bifor thee, and ete thou not therof; thin asse be rauyschid in thi siyt, and be not yoldun to thee; thi scheep be youun to thin enemyes, and noon be that helpe thee.
Il tuo bue sarà ammazzato sotto i tuoi occhi e tu non ne mangerai; il tuo asino ti sarà portato via in tua presenza e non tornerà più a te; il tuo gregge sarà dato ai tuoi nemici e nessuno ti aiuterà.
32 Thi sones and thi douytris be youun to another puple, `while thin iyen seen, and failen at the siyt of hem al day; and no strengthe be in thin hond.
I tuoi figli e le tue figlie saranno consegnati a un popolo straniero, mentre i tuoi occhi vedranno e languiranno di pianto per loro ogni giorno, ma niente potrà fare la tua mano.
33 A puple whom thou knowist not ete the fruytis of thi lond, and alle thi trauels; and euere be thou suffrynge fals calengis, and be thou oppressid in alle daies,
Un popolo, che tu non conosci, mangerà il frutto della tua terra e di tutta la tua fatica; sarai oppresso e schiacciato ogni giorno;
34 and wondrynge at the ferdfulnesse of tho thingis whiche thin iyen schulen se.
diventerai pazzo per ciò che i tuoi occhi dovranno vedere.
35 The Lord smyte thee with the worste botche in the knees, and in the hyndere partes of the leg; and thou mow not be heelid fro the sole of the foot `til to the top.
Il Signore ti colpirà alle ginocchia e alle cosce con una ulcera maligna, della quale non potrai guarire; ti colpirà dalla pianta dei piedi alla sommità del capo.
36 And the Lord schal lede thee, and thi kyng, whom thou schalt ordeyne on thee, in to a folc which thou knowist not, thou, and thi fadris; and thou schalt serue there to alien goddis, to a tre, and stoon.
Il Signore deporterà te e il re, che ti sarai costituito, in una nazione che né tu né i padri tuoi avete conosciuto; là servirai dei stranieri, dei di legno e di pietra;
37 And thou schalt be lost in to prouerbe, and fable to alle puplis, to whiche the Lord schal brynge thee yn.
diventerai oggetto di stupore, di motteggio e di scherno per tutti i popoli fra i quali il Signore ti avrà condotto.
38 Thou schalt caste myche seed in to the erthe, and thou schalt gadere litil; for locustis schulen deuoure alle thingis.
Porterai molta semente al campo e raccoglierai poco, perché la locusta la divorerà.
39 Thou schalt plaunte, and schalt digge a vyner, and thou schalt not drynke wyn, nether thou schalt gadere therof ony thing; for it schal be wastid with wormes.
Pianterai vigne e le coltiverai, ma non berrai vino né coglierai uva, perché il verme le roderà.
40 Thou schalt haue olyue trees in alle thi termes, and thou schalt not be anoyntid with oile; for tho schulen falle doun, and schulen perische.
Avrai oliveti in tutto il tuo territorio, ma non ti ungerai di olio, perché le tue olive cadranno immature.
41 Thou schalt gendre sones and douytris, and thou schalt not vse hem; for thei schulen be led in to caitifte.
Genererai figli e figlie, ma non saranno tuoi, perché andranno in prigionia.
42 Rust schal waaste alle thi trees and fruytis of thi lond.
Tutti i tuoi alberi e il frutto del tuo suolo saranno preda di un esercito d'insetti.
43 A comelyng, that dwellith with thee in the lond, schal stie on thee, and he schal be the hiyere; forsothe thou schalt go doun, and schalt be the lowere.
Il forestiero che sarà in mezzo a te si innalzerà sempre più sopra di te e tu scenderai sempre più in basso.
44 He schal leene to thee, and thou schalt not leene to hym; he schal be in to the heed, and thou schalt be in to the tail.
Egli presterà a te e tu non presterai a lui; egli sarà in testa e tu in coda.
45 And alle these cursyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen pursue, and schulen take thee, til thou perische; for thou herdist not the vois of thi Lord God, nether kepist hise comaundementis and cerymonyes, whiche he comaundide to thee.
Tutte queste maledizioni verranno su di te, ti perseguiteranno e ti raggiungeranno, finché tu sia distrutto, perché non avrai obbedito alla voce del Signore tuo Dio, osservando i comandi e le leggi che egli ti ha dato.
46 And signes, and grete wondris schulen be in thee, and in thi seed, til in to withouten ende;
Esse per te e per la tua discendenza saranno sempre un segno e un prodigio.
47 for thou seruedist not thi Lord God in the ioye and gladnesse of herte, for the abundaunce of alle thingis.
Poiché non avrai servito il Signore tuo Dio con gioia e di buon cuore in mezzo all'abbondanza di ogni cosa,
48 Thou schalt serue thin enemye, whom God schal sende to thee in hungur, and thirst, and nakidnesse, and in pouert of alle thingis; and he schal putte an yrun yok on thi nol, til he al to-breke thee.
servirai i tuoi nemici, che il Signore manderà contro di te, in mezzo alla fame, alla sete, alla nudità e alla mancanza di ogni cosa; essi ti metteranno un giogo di ferro sul collo, finché ti abbiano distrutto.
49 The Lord schal brynge on thee a folk fro fer place, and fro the laste endis of erthe, in to the licnesse of an egle fleynge with bire, of which folc thou maist not vnderstonde the langage;
Il Signore solleverà contro di te da lontano, dalle estremità della terra, una nazione che si slancia a volo come aquila: una nazione della quale non capirai la lingua,
50 a folk moost greedi axere, that schal not yyue reuerence to an elde man, nethir haue mercy on a litil child.
una nazione dall'aspetto feroce, che non avrà riguardo al vecchio né avrà compassione del fanciullo;
51 And schal deuoure the fruyt of thi beestis, and the fruytis of thi lond, til thou perischist, and schal not leeue to thee wheete, wyn, and oile, droues of oxun, and flockis of scheep,
che mangerà il frutto del tuo bestiame e il frutto del tuo suolo, finché tu sia distrutto, e non ti lascerà alcun residuo di frumento, di mosto, di olio, dei parti delle tue vacche e dei nati delle tue pecore, finché ti avrà fatto perire.
52 til he leese thee, and al to-breke in alle thi citees, and til thi sadde and hiye wallis be distried, in whiche thou haddist trust in al thi lond. Thou schalt be bisegid withynne thi yatis in al thi lond, which thi Lord God schal yyue to thee.
Ti assedierà in tutte le tue città, finché in tutto il tuo paese cadano le mura alte e forti, nelle quali avrai riposto la fiducia. Ti assedierà in tutte le tue città, in tutto il paese che il Signore tuo Dio ti avrà dato.
53 And thou schalt ete the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fleischis of thi sones, and of thi douytris, whiche thi Lord God schal yyue to thee, in the angwisch and distriyng, bi which thin enemye schal oppresse thee.
Durante l'assedio e l'angoscia alla quale ti ridurrà il tuo nemico, mangerai il frutto delle tue viscere, le carni dei tuoi figli e delle tue figlie, che il Signore tuo Dio ti avrà dato.
54 A man delicat of lijf, and `ful letcherouse, schal haue enuye to his brother, and wijf that liggith in his bosum,
L'uomo più raffinato tra di voi e più delicato guarderà di malocchio il suo fratello e la sua stessa sposa e il resto dei suoi figli che ancora sopravvivono,
55 lest he yyue to hem of the fleischis of hise sones whiche he schal ete; for he hath noon other thing in biseging and pouert, bi which thin enemyes schulen waaste thee with ynne alle thi yatis.
per non dare ad alcuno di loro le carni dei suoi figli delle quali si ciberà; perché non gli sarà rimasto più nulla durante l'assedio e l'angoscia alla quale i nemici ti avranno ridotto entro tutte le tue città.
56 A tendur womman and delicat, that myyte not go on the erthe, nether set a step of foot, for most softnesse and tendirnesse, schal haue enuye to hir hosebonde that liggith in hir bosum, on the fleischis of sone and douyter,
La donna più raffinata e delicata tra di voi, che per delicatezza e raffinatezza non si sarebbe provata a posare in terra la pianta del piede, guarderà di malocchio il proprio marito, il figlio e la figlia
57 and on the filthe of skynnes, wherynne the child is wlappid in the wombe, that gon out of the myddis of hir `scharis, ethir hipe bonys, and on fre children that ben borun in the same our. Thei schulen ete `tho children priueli, for the scarsete of alle thingis in bisegyng and distriyng, bi which thin enemy schal oppresse thee with ynne thi yatis.
e si ciberà di nascosto di quanto esce dai suoi fianchi e dei bambini che deve ancora partorire, mancando di tutto durante l'assedio e l'angoscia alla quale i nemici ti avranno ridotto entro tutte le tue città.
58 No but thou schalt kepe and do alle the wordis of this lawe, that ben writun in this volym, `ether book, and schalt drede his gloriouse name and ferdful, that is thi Lord God,
Se non cercherai di eseguire tutte le parole di questa legge, scritte in questo libro, avendo timore di questo nome glorioso e terribile del Signore tuo Dio,
59 the Lord schal encreese thi woundis, and the woundis of thi seed; grete woundis and contynuel, sikenessis worste and euerlestinge.
allora il Signore colpirà te e i tuoi discendenti con flagelli prodigiosi: flagelli grandi e duraturi, malattie maligne e ostinate.
60 And he schal turne in to thee alle the turmentyngis of Egipt, whiche thou dreddist, and tho schulen cleue to thee.
Farà tornare su di te le infermità dell'Egitto, delle quali tu avevi paura, e si attaccheranno a te.
61 Ferthermore the Lord schal brynge on thee also alle the sorewis and woundis, that ben not writun in the volym of this lawe, til he al to-breke thee.
Anche ogni altra malattia e ogni flagello, che non sta scritto nel libro di questa legge, il Signore manderà contro di te, finché tu non sia distrutto.
62 And ye schulen dwelle fewe in noumbre, that weren bifore as the sterris of heuene for multitude, for thou herdist not the vois of thi Lord God.
Voi rimarrete in pochi uomini, dopo essere stati numerosi come le stelle del cielo, perché non avrai obbedito alla voce del Signore tuo Dio.
63 And as the Lord was glad bifore on you, and dide wel to you, and multipliede you; so he schal be glad, `and schal leese, and distrie you, that ye be takun awei fro the lond, to which thou schalt entre to welde.
Come il Signore gioiva a vostro riguardo nel beneficarvi e moltiplicarvi, così il Signore gioirà a vostro riguardo nel farvi perire e distruggervi; sarete strappati dal suolo, che vai a prendere in possesso.
64 The Lord schal leese thee in to alle puplis, fro the hiynesse of erthe `til to the termes therof; and thou schalt serue there to alien goddis, whiche thou knowist not, and thi fadris `knowen not, to trees and stoonys.
Il Signore ti disperderà fra tutti i popoli, da un'estremità fino all'altra; là servirai altri dei, che né tu, né i tuoi padri avete conosciuti, dei di legno e di pietra.
65 Also thou schalt not reste in tho folkis, nether rest schal be to the step of thi foot. For the Lord schal yyue to thee there a ferdful herte, and iyen failynge, and lijf waastyd with morenyng.
Fra quelle nazioni non troverai sollievo e non vi sarà luogo di riposo per la pianta dei tuoi piedi; là il Signore ti darà un cuore trepidante, languore di occhi e angoscia di anima.
66 And thi lijf schal be as hangynge bifore thee; thou schalt drede in nyyt and dai, and thou schal not bileue to thi lijf.
La tua vita ti sarà dinanzi come sospesa a un filo; temerai notte e giorno e non sarai sicuro della tua vita.
67 In the morewtid thou schalt seie, Who schal yyue the euentid to me? and in the euentid `thou schalt seie, Who schal yyue the morewtid to me? for the drede of thin herte, bi which thou schalt be maad aferd, and for tho thingis whiche thou schalt see with thin iyen.
Alla mattina dirai: Se fosse sera! e alla sera dirai: Se fosse mattina!, a causa del timore che ti agiterà il cuore e delle cose che i tuoi occhi vedranno.
68 The Lord schal lede thee ayen bi schipis in to Egipt, by the weie of which he seide to thee, that thou schuldist no more se it. There thou schalt be seeld to thin enemyes, in to seruauntis and `hand maidis; and noon schal be that schal delyuere thee.
Il Signore ti farà tornare in Egitto, per mezzo di navi, per una via della quale ti ho detto: Non dovrete più rivederla! e là vi metterete in vendita ai vostri nemici come schiavi e schiave, ma nessuno vi acquisterà».
