Deuteronomy 28
1 Forsothe if thou herist the vois of thi Lord God, that thou do and kepe alle hise comaundementis, whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, thi Lord God schal make the hiyere than alle folkis that lyuen in erthe.
Mais si tu écoutes la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu, en sorte que tu pratiques et que tu gardes tous ses commandements que moi, je te prescris aujourd’hui, le Seigneur ton Dieu t’élèvera au-dessus de toutes les nations qui sont sur la terre.
2 And alle these blessyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen take thee; if netheles thou herist hise comaundementis.
Et toutes ces bénédictions viendront sur loi, et elles te saisiront, si cependant tu écoutes ses préceptes.
3 Thou schalt be blessid in citee, and blessid in feeld;
Béni tu seras dans la ville et béni dans la campagne;
4 blessid schal be the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond, and the fruit of thi beestis; `blessid schulen be the flockis of thi grete beestis, and the fooldis of thi scheep;
Béni sera le fruit de ton ventre, le fruit de ta terre et le fruit de tes bestiaux; tes troupeaux de gros bétail, et les parcs de tes brebis;
5 blessid schulen be thi bernes, and `blessid schulen be `thi relifs;
Bénis tes greniers, bénie ta surabondance.
6 thou schalt be blessid entrynge, and goynge out.
Béni tu seras entrant et sortant.
7 The Lord schal yyue thin enemyes fallynge in thi siyt, that schulen rise ayens thee; bi o weie thei schulen come ayens thee, and by seuene weies thei schulen fle fro thi face.
Le Seigneur fera que tes ennemis qui s’élèvent contre toi, tomberont en ta présence: ils viendront par une seule voie contre toi, et c’est par sept qu’ils s’enfuiront devant ta face.
8 The Lord schal sende out blessyng on thi celeris, and on alle the werkis of thin hondis; and he schal blesse thee in the lond which thou hast take.
Le Seigneur enverra la bénédiction sur tes celliers et sur toutes les œuvres de tes mains, et il te bénira dans la terre que tu auras reçue.
9 The Lord schal reise thee to hym silf in to an hooli puple, as he swoor to thee, if thou kepist the heestis of thi Lord God, and goist in his weies.
Il se suscitera en toi un peuple saint, comme il t’a juré, si tu gardes les commandements du Seigneur ton Dieu, et si tu marches dans ses voies.
10 And alle the puples of londis schulen se, that the name of the Lord is inwardli clepid on thee, and thei schulen drede thee.
Et tous les peuples de la terre verront que le nom du Seigneur est invoqué sur toi, et ils te craindront.
11 The Lord schal make thee to be plenteuouse in alle goodis, in fruyt of thi wombe, and in fruyt of thi beestis, in the fruyt of thi lond, which the Lord swoor to thi fadris, that he schulde yyue to thee.
Le Seigneur te fera abonder en tous biens, en fruit de ton sein, en fruit de tes bestiaux, et en fruit de la terre, que le Seigneur a juré à tes pères qu’il te donnerait.
12 The Lord schal opene his beste tresour, heuene, that he yyue reyn to thi lond in his tyme; and he schal blesse alle the werkis of thin hondis; and thou schalt leene to many folkis, and of no man thou schalt take borewyng.
Le Seigneur ouvrira son excellent trésor, le ciel, pour qu’il donne la pluie à ta terre en son temps; et il bénira toutes les œuvres de tes mains. Et tu prêteras à un grand nombre de nations, et toi-même tu ne recevras de prêt de personne.
13 The Lord God schal sette thee in to the heed, and not in to the tail, and euere thou schalt be aboue, and not bynethe; if netheles thou herist the comaundementis of thi Lord God, whiche Y comaunde to thee to day, and kepist,
Le Seigneur t’établira la tête, et non la queue; et tu seras toujours au-dessus, et non au-dessous, si cependant tu écoutes les commandements du Seigneur ton Dieu, que moi, je te prescris aujourd’hui; si tu les gardes et les pratiques,
14 and doist, and bowist not awey fro tho, nether to the riyt side nether to the lefte side, nether suest alien goddis, nethir worschipist hem.
Et si tu ne t’en détournes ni à droite ni à gauche, et que tu ne suives pas des dieux étrangers, et que tu ne les serves point.
15 That if thou nylt here the vois of thi Lord God, that thou kepe and do alle hise heestis, and cerymonyes, whiche Y comaunde to thee to day, alle these cursyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen take thee.
Que si tu ne veux point écouter la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu, afin de garder et de pratiquer tous ses commandements et toutes ses cérémonies, que moi, je te prescris aujourd’hui, toutes ces malédictions viendront sur toi et te saisiront.
16 Thou schalt be cursid in citee, cursid in feeld.
Maudit tu seras dans la ville, maudit dans la campagne;
17 Cursid `schal be thi berne, and cursid schulen be thi relifs.
Maudit ton grenier, et maudite ta surabondance;
18 Cursid schal be the fruit of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond; `cursid schulen be the drooues of thin oxun, and the flockis of thi scheep.
Maudit le fruit de ton ventre, et le fruit de ta terre, les troupeaux de tes bœufs et les troupeaux de tes brebis.
19 Thou schalt be cursid goynge in, and `thou schalt be cursid goynge out.
Maudit tu seras entrant, et maudit sortant.
20 The Lord schal sende on thee hungur, and thurst, and blamyng in to alle thi werkis whiche thou schalt do, til he al to-breke thee, and leese swiftli, for thi werste fyndyngis, in whiche thou hast forsake me.
Le Seigneur enverra sur toi la famine et la faim, et le blâme sur toutes tes œuvres, que tu feras, jusqu’à ce qu’il te brise et te perde soudain, à cause de tes inventions détestables, par lesquelles tu m’auras abandonné.
21 The Lord ioyne pestilence to thee, til he waaste thee fro the lond, to which thou schalt entre to welde.
Que le Seigneur ajoute contre toi la peste, jusqu’à ce qu’il t’ait entièrement exterminé de la terre dans laquelle tu entreras pour la posséder.
22 The Lord smyte thee with nedynesse, feuyr, and coold, brennynge, and heete, and with corrupt eir, and rust; and pursue thee til thou perische.
Que le Seigneur te frappe de l’indigence, de la fièvre et du froid, de la chaleur brûlante, de l’air corrompu, et de la nielle, et qu’il te poursuive, jusqu’à ce que tu périsses.
23 Heuene which is aboue thee be brasun; and the erthe which thou tredist be yrun.
Que le ciel qui est au-dessus de toi, soit d’airain, et la terre que tu foules, de fer.
24 The Lord yyue dust for reyn to thi lond, and aysche come doun fro heuene on thee, til thou be al to-brokun.
Que le Seigneur donne pour pluie à ta terre de la poussière, et que du ciel descende sur toi de la cendre, jusqu’à ce que tu sois brisé.
25 The Lord yyue thee fallynge bifor thin enemyes; bi o weie go thou ayens hem, and bi seuene weies fle thou, and be thou scaterid bi alle the rewmes of erthe;
Que le Seigneur fasse que tu tombes devant tes ennemis; que tu sortes par une seule voie contre eux, et que ce soit par sept que tu fuies, et que tu sois dispersé dans tous les royaumes de la terre;
26 and thi deed bodi be in to mete to alle volatils of heuene, and to beestis of erthe, and noon be that dryue hem awai.
Et que ton cadavre serve de pâture à tous les oiseaux du ciel et aux bêtes de la terre, et qu’il n’y ait personne qui les chasse.
27 The Lord smyte thee with the botche of Egipt, and `the Lord smyte the part of bodi wherbi `ordures ben voyded; also `the Lord smyte thee with scabbe, and yicchyng, so that thou mayst not be curid.
Que le Seigneur te frappe de l’ulcère de l’Egypte, et qu’il frappe la partie du corps par laquelle sortent les excréments, de la gale aussi bien que de la démangeaison; en sorte que tu ne puisses être guéri.
28 The Lord smyte thee with madnesse, and blyndnesse, and woodnesse of thouyt;
Que le Seigneur te frappe de démence, d’aveuglement, et de la fureur d’esprit,
29 and grope thou in mydday, as a blynd man is wont to grope in derknessis; and dresse he not thi weies; in al tyme suffre thou fals chaleng, and be thou oppressid bi violence, nethir haue thou ony that schal delyuere thee.
Et que tu tâtonnes à midi, comme a coutume de tâtonner l’aveugle dans les ténèbres, et que tu ne diriges point tes voies. Qu’en tout temps, tu sois en butte à la calomnie, que tu sois opprimé par la violence, et que tu n’aies personne qui te délivre.
30 Take thou a wijf, and anothir man sleepe with hir; bilde thou an hows, and dwelle thou not ther ynne; plaunte thou a vyner, and gadere thou not grapis therof.
Que tu prennes une femme, et qu’un autre dorme avec elle. Que tu bâtisses une maison, et que tu n’habites point en elle. Que tu plantes une vigne, et que tu ne la vendanges point.
31 Thin oxe be offrid bifor thee, and ete thou not therof; thin asse be rauyschid in thi siyt, and be not yoldun to thee; thi scheep be youun to thin enemyes, and noon be that helpe thee.
Que ton bœuf soit immolé devant toi, et que tu n’en manges point. Que ton âne soit enlevé en ta présence, et qu’il ne te soit point rendu. Que tes brebis soient données à tes ennemis, et qu’il n’y ait personne qui te secoure.
32 Thi sones and thi douytris be youun to another puple, `while thin iyen seen, and failen at the siyt of hem al day; and no strengthe be in thin hond.
Que tes fils et tes filles soient livrés à un autre peuple, tes yeux le voyant, et se desséchant tout le jour à leur aspect; et qu’il n’y ait point de force en ta main.
33 A puple whom thou knowist not ete the fruytis of thi lond, and alle thi trauels; and euere be thou suffrynge fals calengis, and be thou oppressid in alle daies,
Qu’un peuple que tu ignores mange les fruits de ta terre et tous tes travaux; et que tu sois toujours en butte à la calomnie, et opprimé tous les jours,
34 and wondrynge at the ferdfulnesse of tho thingis whiche thin iyen schulen se.
Et interdit par la frayeur des choses que verront tes yeux.
35 The Lord smyte thee with the worste botche in the knees, and in the hyndere partes of the leg; and thou mow not be heelid fro the sole of the foot `til to the top.
Que le Seigneur te frappe d’un ulcère très malin aux genoux et aux jambes; et que tu ne puisses être guéri depuis la plante du pied jusqu’au haut de ta tête.
36 And the Lord schal lede thee, and thi kyng, whom thou schalt ordeyne on thee, in to a folc which thou knowist not, thou, and thi fadris; and thou schalt serue there to alien goddis, to a tre, and stoon.
Le Seigneur t’emmènera, toi et ton roi que tu auras établi sur toi, dans une nation que tu auras ignorée, toi et tes pères; et tu serviras là des dieux étrangers, du bois et de la pierre.
37 And thou schalt be lost in to prouerbe, and fable to alle puplis, to whiche the Lord schal brynge thee yn.
Et tu seras perdu, devenant le brocard et la fable de tous les peuples chez lesquels t’aura introduit le Seigneur.
38 Thou schalt caste myche seed in to the erthe, and thou schalt gadere litil; for locustis schulen deuoure alle thingis.
Tu jetteras beaucoup de semence dans la terre, et tu en recueilleras peu, parce que les sauterelles dévoreront tout.
39 Thou schalt plaunte, and schalt digge a vyner, and thou schalt not drynke wyn, nether thou schalt gadere therof ony thing; for it schal be wastid with wormes.
Tu planteras une vigne et tu la laboureras; mais tu ne boiras pas de vin, et tu n’en recueilleras rien, parce qu’elle sera ravagée par les vers.
40 Thou schalt haue olyue trees in alle thi termes, and thou schalt not be anoyntid with oile; for tho schulen falle doun, and schulen perische.
Tu auras des oliviers dans tous tes confins, et tu ne t’oindras pas d’huile, parce qu’ils couleront et périront.
41 Thou schalt gendre sones and douytris, and thou schalt not vse hem; for thei schulen be led in to caitifte.
Tu engendreras des fils et des filles, et tu n’en jouiras pas, parce qu’ils seront emmenés en captivité.
42 Rust schal waaste alle thi trees and fruytis of thi lond.
La rouille consumera tous tes arbres et les fruits de ta terre.
43 A comelyng, that dwellith with thee in the lond, schal stie on thee, and he schal be the hiyere; forsothe thou schalt go doun, and schalt be the lowere.
L’étranger qui est avec toi dans ta terre s’élèvera au-dessus de toi, et sera plus puissant; mais toi, tu descendras et tu seras au-dessous.
44 He schal leene to thee, and thou schalt not leene to hym; he schal be in to the heed, and thou schalt be in to the tail.
Lui, te prêtera à usure, et toi, tu ne lui prêteras point. Lui sera la tête, et toi, tu seras la queue.
45 And alle these cursyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen pursue, and schulen take thee, til thou perische; for thou herdist not the vois of thi Lord God, nether kepist hise comaundementis and cerymonyes, whiche he comaundide to thee.
Et toutes ces malédictions viendront sur toi, elles te poursuivront et te saisiront, jusqu’à ce que tu périsses, parce que tu n’as pas écouté la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu, ni observé ses commandements et les cérémonies qu’il t’a prescrites,
46 And signes, and grete wondris schulen be in thee, and in thi seed, til in to withouten ende;
Et elles seront pour toujours en toi et en ta postérité des signes et des prodiges,
47 for thou seruedist not thi Lord God in the ioye and gladnesse of herte, for the abundaunce of alle thingis.
Parce que tu n’auras pas servi le Seigneur ton Dieu dans le contentement et la joie du cœur, dans l’abondance de toutes choses.
48 Thou schalt serue thin enemye, whom God schal sende to thee in hungur, and thirst, and nakidnesse, and in pouert of alle thingis; and he schal putte an yrun yok on thi nol, til he al to-breke thee.
Tu serviras ton ennemi que t’enverra le Seigneur, dans la faim et la soif, dans la nudité et une pénurie absolue; et il mettra un joug de fer sur ton cou, jusqu’à ce qu’il te brise.
49 The Lord schal brynge on thee a folk fro fer place, and fro the laste endis of erthe, in to the licnesse of an egle fleynge with bire, of which folc thou maist not vnderstonde the langage;
Le Seigneur amènera sur toi d’un pays lointain, des dernières limites de la terre, une nation semblable à l’aigle qui vole avec impétuosité, et dont tu ne puisses entendre la langue;
50 a folk moost greedi axere, that schal not yyue reuerence to an elde man, nethir haue mercy on a litil child.
Une nation très insolente, qui n’ait point de déférence pour un vieillard, ni de pitié pour un enfant;
51 And schal deuoure the fruyt of thi beestis, and the fruytis of thi lond, til thou perischist, and schal not leeue to thee wheete, wyn, and oile, droues of oxun, and flockis of scheep,
Qui dévore le fruit de tes bestiaux, et les fruits de ta terre, jusqu’à ce que tu périsses; qui ne te laisse pas de blé, de vin ni d’huile, de troupeaux de bœufs, ni de troupeaux de brebis, jusqu’à ce qu’il te détruise,
52 til he leese thee, and al to-breke in alle thi citees, and til thi sadde and hiye wallis be distried, in whiche thou haddist trust in al thi lond. Thou schalt be bisegid withynne thi yatis in al thi lond, which thi Lord God schal yyue to thee.
Et qu’il te brise dans toutes tes villes, et que soient détruites tes murailles fortes et élevées en lesquelles tu avais confiance dans toute ta terre. Tu seras assiégé au dedans de tes portes, dans toute ta terre que te donnera le Seigneur ton Dieu;
53 And thou schalt ete the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fleischis of thi sones, and of thi douytris, whiche thi Lord God schal yyue to thee, in the angwisch and distriyng, bi which thin enemye schal oppresse thee.
Et tu mangeras le fruit de ton sein, la chair de tes fils et de tes filles que t’aura donnés le Seigneur ton Dieu, à cause de la détresse et de la ruine dont t’affligera ton ennemi.
54 A man delicat of lijf, and `ful letcherouse, schal haue enuye to his brother, and wijf that liggith in his bosum,
L’homme chez toi le plus délicat et le plus voluptueux refusera à son frère et à sa femme qui repose sur son sein,
55 lest he yyue to hem of the fleischis of hise sones whiche he schal ete; for he hath noon other thing in biseging and pouert, bi which thin enemyes schulen waaste thee with ynne alle thi yatis.
De leur donner de la chair de ses fils dont il mangera, parce qu’il n’aura rien autre chose pendant le siège, et dans la pénurie dont t’affligeront tes ennemis au dedans de toutes tes portes.
56 A tendur womman and delicat, that myyte not go on the erthe, nether set a step of foot, for most softnesse and tendirnesse, schal haue enuye to hir hosebonde that liggith in hir bosum, on the fleischis of sone and douyter,
La femme molle et délicate, qui ne pouvait pas marcher sur la terre, ni y poser la plante de son pied, à cause de sa mollesse et de sa délicatesse excessive, refusera à son mari qui repose sur son sein, la chair de son fils et de sa fille,
57 and on the filthe of skynnes, wherynne the child is wlappid in the wombe, that gon out of the myddis of hir `scharis, ethir hipe bonys, and on fre children that ben borun in the same our. Thei schulen ete `tho children priueli, for the scarsete of alle thingis in bisegyng and distriyng, bi which thin enemy schal oppresse thee with ynne thi yatis.
Et l’amas des souillures qui sortent de son sein, et les enfants qui sont nés à cette même heure; car ils les mangeront en cachette, à cause de la pénurie de toutes choses pendant le siège et la dévastation dont t’affligera ton ennemi au dedans de tes portes.
58 No but thou schalt kepe and do alle the wordis of this lawe, that ben writun in this volym, `ether book, and schalt drede his gloriouse name and ferdful, that is thi Lord God,
Si tu ne gardes et ne pratiques toutes les paroles de cette loi qui sont écrites dans ce livre, et si tu ne crains pas son nom glorieux et terrible, c’est-à-dire le Seigneur ton Dieu,
59 the Lord schal encreese thi woundis, and the woundis of thi seed; grete woundis and contynuel, sikenessis worste and euerlestinge.
Le Seigneur augmentera tes plaies, et les plaies de ta postérité, plaies grandes et persévérantes, infirmités très cruelles, et perpétuelles,
60 And he schal turne in to thee alle the turmentyngis of Egipt, whiche thou dreddist, and tho schulen cleue to thee.
Et il fera retourner sur toi toutes les afflictions de l’Egypte, que tu as redoutées, et elles s’attacheront à toi;
61 Ferthermore the Lord schal brynge on thee also alle the sorewis and woundis, that ben not writun in the volym of this lawe, til he al to-breke thee.
De plus, toutes les langueurs et les plaies qui ne sont point écrites dans le livre de cette loi, le Seigneur les amènera sur toi, jusqu’à ce qu’il te brise;
62 And ye schulen dwelle fewe in noumbre, that weren bifore as the sterris of heuene for multitude, for thou herdist not the vois of thi Lord God.
Et vous demeurerez en petit nombre, vous qui auparavant étiez comme les astres du ciel par votre multitude, parce que tu n’auras pas écouté la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu.
63 And as the Lord was glad bifore on you, and dide wel to you, and multipliede you; so he schal be glad, `and schal leese, and distrie you, that ye be takun awei fro the lond, to which thou schalt entre to welde.
Et comme auparavant le Seigneur s’était réjoui de vous, vous faisant du bien, et vous multipliant, ainsi il se réjouira, vous perdant et vous détruisant, afin que vous soyez enlevés de la terre dans laquelle tu entreras pour la posséder.
64 The Lord schal leese thee in to alle puplis, fro the hiynesse of erthe `til to the termes therof; and thou schalt serue there to alien goddis, whiche thou knowist not, and thi fadris `knowen not, to trees and stoonys.
Le Seigneur te dispersera dans toutes les nations depuis une extrémité de la terre jusqu’à l’autre extrémité; et tu serviras là des dieux étrangers que tu auras ignorés, toi et tes pères, du bois et des pierres.
65 Also thou schalt not reste in tho folkis, nether rest schal be to the step of thi foot. For the Lord schal yyue to thee there a ferdful herte, and iyen failynge, and lijf waastyd with morenyng.
Parmi ces nations mêmes tu ne te reposeras pas, et il n’y aura pas pour la plante de ton pied où se poser. Car le Seigneur te donnera là un cœur tremblant, des yeux languissants et une âme consumée de douleur;
66 And thi lijf schal be as hangynge bifore thee; thou schalt drede in nyyt and dai, and thou schal not bileue to thi lijf.
Et la vie sera comme en suspens devant loi. Tu craindras nuit et jour, et tu ne croiras pas à ta vie.
67 In the morewtid thou schalt seie, Who schal yyue the euentid to me? and in the euentid `thou schalt seie, Who schal yyue the morewtid to me? for the drede of thin herte, bi which thou schalt be maad aferd, and for tho thingis whiche thou schalt see with thin iyen.
Le matin, tu diras: Qui me donnera le soir? et le soir: Qui me donnera le matin? à cause de l’effroi de ton cœur, dont tu seras épouvanté, et à cause de ce que tu verras de tes yeux.
68 The Lord schal lede thee ayen bi schipis in to Egipt, by the weie of which he seide to thee, that thou schuldist no more se it. There thou schalt be seeld to thin enemyes, in to seruauntis and `hand maidis; and noon schal be that schal delyuere thee.
Le Seigneur te ramènera sur des vaisseaux en Egypte, par la voie dont il t’a dit que tu ne la reverrais jamais. Là, vous serez vendus à vos ennemis comme esclaves et comme servantes, et il n’y aura personne qui vous achète.
