Deuteronomy 23
1 A geldyng whanne hise stoonys ben brokun, ethir kit awey, and his yerde is kit awei, schal not entre in to the chirche of the Lord.
Celui qui est eunuque pour avoir été écrasé, ou pour avoir été taillé, n'entrera point dans l'assemblée de l'Éternel.
2 A child borun of hordom schal not entre in to the chirche of the Lord, `til to the tenthe generacioun.
Le bâtard n'entrera point dans l'assemblée de l'Éternel; même sa dixième génération n'entrera point dans l'assemblée de l'Éternel.
3 Ammonytis and Moabitis, yhe aftir the tenthe generacioun, schulen not entre into the `chirche of the Lord with outen ende;
L'Ammonite et le Moabite n'entreront point dans l'assemblée de l'Éternel; même leur dixième génération n'entrera point dans l'assemblée de l'Éternel, à jamais;
4 for thei nolden come to you with breed and watir in the weie, whanne ye yeden out of Egipt; and for thei hireden ayens thee Balaam, the sone of Beor, fro Mesopotanye of Sirye, that he schulde curse thee;
Parce qu'ils ne sont point venus au-devant de vous avec le pain et l'eau, dans le chemin, quand vous sortiez d'Égypte, et parce qu'ils firent venir, à prix d'argent, contre toi Balaam, fils de Béor, de Pethor en Mésopotamie, pour te maudire.
5 and thi Lord God nolde here Balaam, and God turnede `the cursyng of Balaam in to thi blessyng, for he louyde thee.
Mais l'Éternel ton Dieu ne voulut point écouter Balaam; et l'Éternel ton Dieu changea pour toi la malédiction en bénédiction, parce que l'Éternel ton Dieu t'aime.
6 Thou schalt not make pees with hem, nethir thou schalt seke goodis to hem, in alle the daies of thi lijf in to with outen ende.
Tu ne chercheras jamais, tant que tu vivras, leur paix ni leur bien.
7 Thou schalt not `haue abhomynacioun of a man of Ydumye, for he is thi brothir, nethir of a man of Egipt, for thou were a comelyng in the lond of hym.
Tu n'auras point en abomination l'Iduméen; car il est ton frère. Tu n'auras point en abomination l'Égyptien; car tu as été étranger dans son pays;
8 Thei that ben borun of hem, schulen entre in the thridde generacioun in to the `chirche of the Lord.
Les enfants qui leur naîtront à la troisième génération, pourront entrer dans l'assemblée de l'Éternel.
9 Whanne thou schalt go out `in to batel ayens thin enemyes, thou schalt kepe thee fro al yuel thing.
Quand tu marcheras en armes contre tes ennemis, garde-toi de toute chose mauvaise.
10 If a man is among you, which is defoulid in `sleep of nyyt, he schal go out of `the castels;
S'il y a quelqu'un d'entre vous qui ne soit point pur, par suite d'un accident arrivé de nuit, il sortira hors du camp, il n'entrera point dans le camp;
11 and he schal not turne ayen bifore that he be waischun in watir at euentid, and aftir the goyng doun of the sunne he schal go ayen in to the castels.
Et sur le soir il se lavera dans l'eau, et dès que le soleil sera couché, il rentrera dans le camp.
12 Thou schalt haue a place without the castels, to which thou schalt go out to nedeful thingis of kynde;
Tu auras un endroit, hors du camp, où tu sortiras; et tu auras un pieu avec ton bagage;
13 and thou schalt bere a litil stake in the girdil; and whanne thou hast sete, thou schalt digge `bi cumpas, and `thou schalt hile with erthe thingis `defied out,
Et quand tu voudras t'asseoir dehors, tu creuseras avec ce pieu, et tu recouvriras ce qui sera sorti de toi.
14 where thou art releuyd. For thi Lord God goeth in the myddis of castels, that he diliuere thee, and bitake thin enemyes to thee, that thi castels be hooli, and no thing of filthe appere in tho, lest he forsake thee.
Car l'Éternel ton Dieu marche au milieu de ton camp pour te délivrer, et pour livrer tes ennemis devant toi. Que ton camp soit donc saint, de peur qu'il ne voie chez toi quelque chose d'impur, et qu'il ne se détourne de toi.
15 Thou schalt not bitake a seruaunt to his lord, which seruaunt fleeth to thee;
Tu ne livreras point à son maître l'esclave qui se sera sauvé chez toi d'avec son maître;
16 he schal dwelle with thee in the place that plesith hym, and he schal reste in oon of thi citees; and make thou not hym sori.
Il demeurera avec toi, au milieu de toi, dans le lieu qu'il choisira dans l'une de tes villes, où il lui plaira; tu ne le molesteras point.
17 Noon hoore schal be of the douytris of Israel, nether a letchour of the sones of Israel.
Qu'il n'y ait point de prostituée entre les filles d'Israël, et qu'aucun des fils d'Israël ne se prostitue à l'infamie.
18 Thou schalt not offre the hire of `an hoore hows, nether the prijs of a dogge, in the hows of thi Lord God, what euer thing it is that thou hast avowid; for euer eithir is abhomynacioun bifor thi Lord God.
Tu n'apporteras point dans la maison de l'Éternel ton Dieu le salaire d'une prostituée, ni le prix d'un chien, pour quelque vœu que ce soit; car tous les deux sont en abomination à l'Éternel ton Dieu.
19 Thou schalt not leene to thi brothir to vsure money, neither fruytis,
Tu ne prêteras point à intérêt à ton frère, ni de l'argent, ni des vivres, ni quoi que ce soit qu'on prête à intérêt.
20 nethir ony othir thing, but to an alien. Forsothe thou schalt leene to thi brothir without vsure that that he nedith, that thi Lord God blesse thee in al thi werk, in the lond to which thou schalt entre to welde.
Tu pourras prêter à intérêt à l'étranger, mais tu ne prêteras point à intérêt à ton frère; afin que l'Éternel ton Dieu te bénisse en toute chose à laquelle tu mettras la main, dans le pays où tu vas entrer pour le posséder.
21 Whanne thou makist auow to thi Lord God, thou schalt not tarie to yelde, for thi Lord God schal `requyre, ether axe, that; and if thou tariest, it schal be arretid to thee in to synne.
Quand tu auras fait un vœu à l'Éternel ton Dieu, tu ne différeras point de l'accomplir; car l'Éternel ton Dieu ne manquerait pas de te le redemander; et il y aurait du péché en toi.
22 If thou `nylt bihete, thou schalt be with out synne.
Mais quand tu t'abstiendras de faire des vœux, il n'y aura point de péché en toi.
23 Forsothe thou schalt kepe, and `do that that yede out onys of thi lippis, as thou bihiytist to thi Lord God, and hast spoke with thin owne wille and thi mouth.
Tu prendras garde de faire ce qui sera sorti de tes lèvres, lorsque tu auras fait à l'Éternel ton Dieu un vœu volontaire, que tu auras prononcé de ta bouche.
24 If thou entrist in to the vynere of thi neiybore, ete thou grapis, as myche as plesith thee; but bere thou not out with thee.
Quand tu entreras dans la vigne de ton prochain, tu pourras manger des raisins selon ton appétit, pour te rassasier, mais tu n'en mettras point dans ton panier.
25 If thou entrist in to `the corn of thi freend, thou schalt breke `eeris of corn, and frote togidere with `the hond; but thou schalt not repe with a sikil.
Quand tu entreras dans les blés de ton prochain, tu pourras arracher des épis avec ta main; mais tu ne mettras point la faucille dans les blés de ton prochain.
