Deuteronomy 22
1 Thou schalt not se `thi brotheris oxe, ethir scheep, errynge, and schalt passe, but thou schalt brynge ayen to thi brother.
Si tu vois le bœuf ou la brebis de ton frère égarés, tu ne t'en détourneras point, tu ne manqueras point de les ramener à ton frère.
2 And if thi brother is not nyy, nether thou knowist hym, thou schalt lede tho beestis in to thin hows, and tho schulen be at thee, as long as thi brother sekith tho, and til he resseyue hem.
Que si ton frère ne demeure pas près de toi, et que tu ne le connaisses pas, tu les retireras dans ta maison; et ils seront avec toi jusqu'à ce que ton frère vienne les chercher, et alors tu les lui rendras.
3 In lijk maner thou schalt do of `the asse, and clooth, and of ech thing of thi brother, that was lost; if thou fyndist it, be thou not necgligent as of an alien thing.
Tu feras de même pour son âne, et tu feras de même pour son vêtement, et toute autre chose que ton frère aura perdue et que tu auras trouvée; tu ne pourras point t'en détourner.
4 If thou seest that the asse, ethir oxe of thi brothir felde in the weye, thou schalt not dispise, but thou schalt `reise with hym.
Si tu vois l'âne de ton frère, ou son bœuf, tombés dans le chemin, tu ne t'en détourneras point; tu les relèveras avec lui.
5 A womman schal not be clothid in a mannys clooth, nether a man schal vse a wommannys cloth; for he that doith thes thingis is abhomynable bifor God. If thou goist in the weie,
Une femme ne portera point un habit d'homme, et un homme ne se revêtira point d'un habit de femme; car quiconque fait ces choses, est en abomination à l'Éternel ton Dieu.
6 and fyndist a `nest of a brid in a tree, ethir in the erthe, and fyndist the modir sittynge on the briddis ethir eyrun, thou schalt not holde the modir with `the children, but thou schalt suffre `the modir go,
Quand tu rencontreras dans le chemin, sur quelque arbre, ou sur la terre, un nid d'oiseau, avec des petits ou des œufs, et la mère couvant les petits ou les œufs, tu ne prendras point la mère avec les petits;
7 and schalt holde the sones takun, that it be wel to thee, and thou lyue in long tyme. Whanne thou bildist a newe hows,
Tu laisseras aller la mère, et tu prendras les petits pour toi, afin que tu sois heureux, et que tu prolonges tes jours.
8 thou schalt make a wal of the roof bi cumpas, lest blood be sched out in thin hows, and thou be gilti, if another man slidith, and falle in to a dich.
Quand tu bâtiras une maison neuve, tu feras un parapet à ton toit, de peur que tu ne rendes ta maison responsable du sang, si quelqu'un tombait de là.
9 Thou schalt not sowe thi vyner `of another seed, lest bothe the seed which thou hast sowe, and tho thingis that `comen forth of the vyner, ben halewid togidere.
Tu ne planteras pas ta vigne de diverses sortes de plants, de peur que le tout, le plant que tu auras planté et le produit de ta vigne, ne soit mis à part.
10 Thou schalt not ere with an oxe and asse togidere.
Tu ne laboureras point avec un bœuf et un âne attelés ensemble.
11 Thou schalt not be clothid in a cloth, which is wouun togidir of wolle and `of flex.
Tu ne t'habilleras point d'un tissu mélangé, laine et lin ensemble.
12 Thou schalt make litle cordis bi foure corneris in the hemmys of thi mentil, `with which thou art hilid.
Tu feras des franges aux quatre pans du manteau dont tu te couvres.
13 If a man weddith a wijf, and aftirward hatith hir,
Lorsqu'un homme aura pris une femme, et qu'après être venu vers elle, il la haïra,
14 and sekith occasiouns bi which he `schal forsake hir, and puttith ayens hir `the werste name, and seith, Y haue take this wijf, and Y entride to hir, and Y foond not hir virgyn; the fadir and modir of hir schulen take
Et lui imputera des actions qui fassent parler d'elle, et la diffamera, et dira: J'ai pris cette femme, et quand je me suis approché d'elle, je ne l'ai point trouvée vierge;
15 hir, and thei schulen bere with hem the signes of her virgynyte to the eldre men of the citee, that ben in the yate;
Le père et la mère de la jeune fille prendront et produiront les marques de sa virginité devant les anciens de la ville, à la porte;
16 and the fadir schal seie, Y yaf my douytir wijf to this man, and for he hatith hir, he puttith to hir `the werste name,
Et le père de la jeune fille dira aux anciens: J'ai donné ma fille à cet homme pour femme, et il l'a prise en aversion;
17 that he seye, Y foond not thi douytir virgyn; and lo! these ben the signes of virgynyte of my douytir; thei schulen sprede forth a cloth bifor the eldre men of the citee. And the eldere men of that citee schulen
Et voici, il lui impute des actions qui font parler d'elle, en disant: Je n'ai point trouvé que ta fille fût vierge; or, voici les marques de la virginité de ma fille. Et ils étendront le vêtement devant les anciens de la ville.
18 take the man, and schulen bete hym,
Alors les anciens de cette ville prendront le mari, et le châtieront.
19 and ferthermore thei schulen condempne hym in an hundrid siclis of siluer, whiche he schal yyue to the `fadir of the damysel, for he diffamide the werste name on a virgyn of Israel; and he schal haue hir wijf, and he schal not mowe forsake hir, in al `the tyme of his lijf.
Et ils le condamneront à une amende de cent pièces d'argent, qu'ils donneront au père de la jeune fille, parce qu'il a diffamé une vierge d'Israël; et elle sera sa femme, il ne pourra la renvoyer tant qu'il vivra.
20 That if it is soth, that he puttith ayens hir, and virgynyte is not foundun in the damysel, thei schulen caste hir `out of `the yatis of
Mais si ce qu'il a dit est véritable, que la jeune fille n'ait point été trouvée vierge,
21 the hous of hir fadir; and men of that citee schulen oppresse hir with stoonys, and sche schal die, for sche dide vnleueful thing in Israel, that sche dide fornycacioun in `the hows of hir fadir; and thou schalt do awey yuel fro the myddis of thee.
Ils feront sortir la jeune fille à la porte de la maison de son père, et les gens de sa ville la lapideront, et elle mourra; car elle a commis une infamie en Israël, en se prostituant dans la maison de son père; tu ôteras ainsi le méchant du milieu de toi.
22 If a man slepith with `the wijf of another man, euer eithir schal die, that is, auowter and auowtresse; and thou schalt do awey yuel fro Israel.
Quand on trouvera un homme couché avec une femme mariée, ils mourront tous deux, l'homme qui a couché avec la femme, et la femme; tu ôteras ainsi le méchant d'Israël.
23 If a man spousith a damysel virgyn, and a man fyndith hir in the citee, and doith letcherie with hir,
Quand une jeune fille vierge sera fiancée à quelqu'un, et qu'un homme, l'ayant trouvée dans la ville, aura couché avec elle,
24 thou schalt lede euer eithir to the yate of that citee, and thei schulen be oppressid with stoonus; the damysel schal be stonyd, for sche criede not, whanne sche was in the citee; the man schal `be stonyd, for he `made low the wijf of his neiybore; and thou schalt do awei yuel fro the myddis of thee.
Vous les ferez sortir tous deux à la porte de cette ville, et vous les lapiderez, et ils mourront: la jeune fille, parce qu'elle n'a point crié dans la ville, et l'homme, parce qu'il a violé la femme de son prochain; et tu ôteras le méchant du milieu de toi.
25 Forsothe if a man fyndith in the feeld a `damysel, which is spousid, and he takith, and doith letcherie with hir, he aloone schal die;
Mais si l'homme trouve dans les champs la jeune fille fiancée, et que, lui faisant violence, il couche avec elle, alors l'homme qui aura couché avec elle mourra seul;
26 the damysel schal suffre no thing of yuel, nethir is gilti of deeth; for as a theef risith ayens his brothir, and sleeth `his lijf, so and the damysel suffride; sche was aloone in the feeld,
Et tu ne feras rien à la jeune fille; la jeune fille n'a point commis de péché digne de mort; car il en est de ce cas, comme si un homme s'élevait contre son prochain et lui ôtait la vie;
27 sche criede, and noon was present, that schulde delyuer hir.
Car il l'a trouvée aux champs: la jeune fille fiancée a pu crier, sans que personne l'ait délivrée.
28 If a man fyndith a damysel virgyn that hath no spowse, and takith, and doith letcherie with hir, and the thing cometh to the doom,
Si un homme trouve une jeune fille vierge, qui ne soit point fiancée, et que, la saisissant, il couche avec elle, et qu'ils soient trouvés;
29 he that slepte with hir schal yyue to `the fadir of the damysel fifti siclis of siluer, and he schal haue hir wijf, for he `made hir low; he schal not mow forsake hir, in alle the daies of his lijf.
L'homme qui a couché avec elle donnera au père de la jeune fille cinquante pièces d'argent, et elle sera sa femme, parce qu'il l'a humiliée. Il ne pourra pas la renvoyer tant qu'il vivra.
30 A man schal not take `the wijf of his fadir, nethir he schal schewe `the hilyng of hir.
Nul ne prendra la femme de son père, ni ne lèvera le bord de la couverture de son père.
