Deuteronomy 10
1 In that tyme the Lord seide to me, Hewe thou twei tablis of stoon to thee, as the formere weren; and stie thou to me `in to the hil. And thou schalt make an arke,
En ce temps-là le Seigneur me dit: Taille-toi deux tables de pierre semblables aux premières, et monte vers moi sur la montagne; tu feras aussi une arche de bois.
2 `ether a cofere, of tree, and Y schal write in the tablis, the wordis that weren in these tablis whiche thou brakist bifore; and thou schalt putte tho tablis in to the arke.
Et tu graveras, sur les tables, les commandements qui étaient sur celles que tu as brisées, et tu les placeras dans l'arche.
3 Therfor Y made an ark of the trees of Sechim, and whanne Y hadde hewe twei tablis of stoon, at the licnesse of the formere tablis, Y stiede in to the hil, and hadde the tablis in the hondis.
Et je fis l'arche de bois incorruptible, et je taillai les tables de pierre, semblables aux premières, et je montai sur la montagne, les deux tables dans les deux mains.
4 And he wroot in the tablis, bi that that he `hadde writun bifore, ten wordis, whiche the Lord spak to you in the hil, fro the myddis of the fyer, whanne the puple was gaderid, and he yaf the tablis to me.
Et le Seigneur écrivit sur les deux tables, conformément à ce qui était écrit la première fois, les dix commandements qu'il avait prononcés devant vous sur la montagne, au milieu du feu, et le Seigneur me les donna.
5 And Y turnide ayen fro the hil, and cam doun, and puttide the tablis in to the arke which Y hadde maad, `whiche tablis ben there hidur to, as the Lord comaundide to me.
Et, étant parti, je descendis de la montagne, et je déposai les tables dans l'arche que j'avais faite, et elles y demeurèrent, comme me l'avait prescrit le Seigneur.
6 Forsothe the sones of Israel moueden tentis fro Beroth of the sones of Jachan in to Mosera, where Aaron was deed, and biried, for whom his sone Eleazar was set in preesthod.
Et les fils d'Israël levèrent leur camp de Béroth, qui était aux fils de Jacim, et ils allèrent en Misadaï; c'est là que plus tard Aaron mourut et fut enseveli, et que son fils Eléazar fut consacré prêtre à sa place.
7 Fro thennus thei camen in to Galgad; fro which place thei yeden forth, and settiden tentis in Jehabatha, in the lond of watris and of strondis.
De là, les fils d'Israël partirent pour Gadgad, et de Gadgad pour Etebatha, terre où il y a des torrents d'eau.
8 In that tyme Y departide the lynage of Leuy, that it schulde bere the arke of boond of pees of the Lord, and schulde stonde bifor hym in seruyce, and schulde blesse in his name til in to present dai.
En ce temps-là, le Seigneur désigna la tribu de Lévi pour transporter l'arche du Seigneur, pour se tenir devant le Seigneur, servir et prier en son nom, comme ils l'ont fait jusqu'à ce jour.
9 For which thing Leuy hadde not part, nether possession with hise brithren, for the Lord hym silf is his possessioun, as thi Lord God bihiyte to hym.
A cause de cela, les Lévites n'ont point de part ni d'héritage parmi leurs frères; le Seigneur seul est leur héritage, comme il leur a été dit.
10 Forsothe Y stood in the hil as bifore, fourti daies and fourti niytis, and the Lord herde me also in this tyme, and nolde leese thee.
Et moi, je m'étais tenu sur la montagne quarante jours et quarante nuits; et, en ce temps-là, le Seigneur m'exauça, et il ne persista pas à vous exterminer.
11 And he seide to me, Go thou, and go bifor this puple, that it entre, and welde the lond which Y swoor to her fadris, that Y schulde yeue to hem.
Et le Seigneur me dit: Pars, marche à la tête de ce peuple; qu'ils entrent en la terre que j'ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner, et qu'elle soit leur héritage.
12 And now, Israel, what axith thi Lord God of thee, no but that thou drede thi Lord, and go in hise weies, and that thou loue hym, and serue thi Lord God in al thin herte, and in al thi soule;
Et maintenant, Israël, qu'est-ce que le Seigneur ton Dieu te demande, sinon de le craindre, de marcher en toutes ses voies, et de l'aimer, et de prier le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme,
13 and that thou kepe the comaundementis of thi Lord God, and the cerymonyes of hym, whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, that it be wel to thee.
D'observer les commandements du Seigneur ton Dieu, et les préceptes de justice que je t'intime aujourd'hui, afin que tu sois heureux?
14 Lo! heuene is of thi Lord God, and heuene of heuene; the erthe and alle thingis that ben ther ynne ben hise;
C'est au Seigneur ton Dieu que sont le ciel, et le ciel des cieux, et la terre, et tout ce qu'elle renferme.
15 and netheles the Lord was glued to thi fadris, and louede hem, and he chees her seed after hem, and you of alle folkis, as it is preued to dai.
Et cependant le Seigneur a choisi vos pères pour les aimer, et après eux il vous a choisis, vous leur postérité, de préférence à toutes les nations, comme il se voit aujourd'hui.
16 Therfor circumcide ye the prepucie, `ethir vnclennesse, of youre herte, and no more make ye harde youre nol.
Ayez soin de circoncire votre dureté de cœur, gardez-vous de votre entêtement.
17 For youre Lord God hym silf is God of goddis, and Lord of lordis, `God greet, and miyti, and feerdful, which takith not persoone, nether yiftis.
Car le Seigneur votre Dieu, c'est le Dieu des dieux, le Seigneur des seigneurs, le Dieu grand, fort et redoutable, qui ne fait pas acception des personnes et ne se laisse point gagner par des présents.
18 He makith doom to the fadirles, and modirles, and to the widewe; he loueth a pilgrym, and yyueth to hym lyiflode and clothing.
Il fait justice à l'étranger, à l'orphelin et à la veuve; il aime l'étranger, il lui donne des vivres et des vêtements.
19 And therfor `loue ye pilgryms, for also ye weren comelyngis in the lond of Egipt.
Vous aimerez aussi l'étranger, car vous étiez étrangers en la terre d'Egypte.
20 Thou schalt drede thi Lord God, and thou schalt serue hym aloone, and thou schalt cleue to hym, and thou schalt swere in his name.
Tu craindras le Seigneur ton Dieu, tu le serviras, tu t'attacheras à lui et tu jureras en son nom.
21 He is thi preisyng, and thi God, that made to thee these grete dedis, and ferdful, whiche thin iyen siyen.
Il est ta gloire; il est ton Dieu, lui qui a fait toutes les choses grandes et glorieuses que tes yeux ont vues.
22 In seuenti men thi fadris yeden doun in to Egipt, and lo! now thi Lord God hath multiplied thee as the sterris of heuene.
Tes pères étaient au nombre de soixante-dix âmes, lorsqu'ils arrivèrent en Egypte; et maintenant le Seigneur ton Dieu t'a fait aussi nombreux que les étoiles du ciel.
