Deuteronomy 1
1 These ben the wordis whiche Moyses spak to al Israel ouer Jordan, in the wildirnesse of the feeld, ayens the reed see, bitwix Pharan and Tophel and Laban and Asseroth, where is ful myche gold,
Estas son las palabras que dirigió Moisés a todo Israel al otro lado del Jordán, en el desierto, en el Arabá, frente a Suf, entre Farán, Tófel, Labán, Haserot y Disahab,
2 by enleuene daies fro Oreb bi the weie of the hil of Seir, til to Cades Barne.
a once jornadas de marcha del Horeb, por el camino de los montes de Seír hasta Cadesbarnea.
3 In the fortithe yeer, in the enleuenth monethe, in the firste dai of the monethe, Moises spak to the sones of Israel alle thingis whiche the Lord commandide to hym that he schulde seie to hem,
En el año cuadragésimo, el mes undécimo, el primero del mes, habló Moisés a los hijos de Israel conforme a todo lo que Yahvé le había mandado acerca de ellos,
4 after that he smoot Seon, kyng of Ammorreis, that dwellide in Esebon, and Og, the kyng of Basan, that dwelide in Asseroth and in Edray, ouer Jordan, in the lond of Moab.
después de la derrota de Sehón, rey amorreo, que habitaba en Hesbón, y de Og, rey de Basan, que habitaba en Asterot, en Edreí.
5 And Moyses bigan to declare the lawe, and to seie,
Allende el Jordán, en la tierra de Moab, comenzó Moisés explicando esta Ley, diciendo:
6 Oure Lord God spak to vs in Oreb, and seide, It suffisith to you that ye han dwellid in this hil;
“Yahvé, nuestro Dios, nos habló en el Horeb, diciendo: ‘Bastante tiempo habéis ya permanecido en este monte.
7 turne ye ayen, and come ye to the hil of Amorreis, and to othere placis that ben next it; to places of feeldis, and of hillis, and to lowere places ayens the south, and bisidis the brenke of the see, to the lond of Cananeys, and of Liban, `til to the greet flood Eufrates.
Dad, pues, vuelta, levantad el campamento, y marchad hacia la montaña de los amorreos y hacia todos sus vecinos en el Araba, en la montaña, en la Sefelá, en el Négueb y en la ribera del mar, hacia el país de los cananeos y al Líbano, hasta el gran río, el río Éufrates.
8 Lo, `he seith, Y haue youe to you; entre ye, and `welde ye `that lond on which the Lord swoor to youre fadrys, Abraham, Ysaac, and Jacob, that he schulde yyue it to hem, and to her seed after hem.
Mirad que pongo delante de vosotros esta tierra; entrad y tomad posesión del país que Yahvé ha jurado dar a vuestros padres, a Abrahán, a Isaac y a Jacob, a ellos y a su descendencia después de ellos.’
9 And Y seide to you in that time, Y may not aloone susteyne you, for youre Lord God hath multiplied you,
En aquel tiempo os hablé, diciendo: ‘No puedo yo solo sobrellevaros.
10 and ye ben ful many to dai, as the sterris of heuene;
Yahvé, vuestro Dios, os ha multiplicado, de modo que hoy sois tan numerosos como las estrellas del cielo.
11 the Lord God of youre fadris adde to this noumbre many thousyndis, and blesse you, as he spak.
Que Yahvé, el Dios de vuestros padres, os haga mil veces más numerosos de lo que sois y os bendiga según os ha dicho.
12 Y may not aloone susteyne youre causis, and birthun, and stryues; yyue ye of you men wise `in dyuyn thingis,
Pero ¿cómo podré yo solo sobrellevar vuestra carga, vuestro peso y vuestros pleitos?
13 and witti `in mennus thingis worthi to be don, whose conuersacioun is preued in youre lynagis, that Y sette hem princes to you.
Escoged de entre vosotros hombres sabios y entendidos y bien conocidos en vuestras tribus, para que os los ponga por caudillos.’
14 Thanne ye answeriden to me, The thing is good which thou wolt do.
Y me respondisteis: ‘Bueno es lo que propones hacer.’
15 And Y took of youre lynagis men wise and noble, `in vertues and kyn; and Y ordeynede hem princis, tribunes, and centuryouns, and quynquagenaries, and denys, whiche schulden teche you all thingis.
Tomé, pues, los jefes de vuestras tribus, hombres sabios y conocidos, y los constituí caudillos vuestros, jefes de mil, jefes de cien, jefes de cincuenta y jefes de diez y magistrados en vuestras tribus.
16 And Y comaundide to hem, and seide, Here ye hem, and deme ye that that is iust, whether he be a citeseyn, whether a pilgrym.
En aquel tiempo mandé también a vuestros jueces, diciendo: ‘Oíd las diferencias entre vuestros hermanos, y haced justicia entre uno y otro y el extranjero que vive con él.
17 No difference schal be of persones; ye schulen here so a litil man, `that is, pore, as a greet man, nether ye schulen take the persoone of ony man, for it is the doom of God. That if ony thing semeth hard to you, telle ye to me, and Y schal here.
En el juicio no hagáis acepción de personas; oiréis al pequeño lo mismo que al grande. No temáis a nadie, porque el juicio es de Dios; mas la causa demasiado difícil para vosotros traedla a mí, y yo la oiré.
18 And Y comaundide alle thingis whiche ye ouyten to do.
En ese tiempo os mandé todas las cosas que habíais de hacer.
19 Forsothe we yeden forth fro Oreb, and passiden bi a feerdful deseert, and grettiste wildirnesse, which ye sien, bi the weye of the hil of Ammorrey, as oure Lord God comaundide to vs. And whanne we hadden come in to Cades Barne,
Partimos, pues, del Horeb, y pasamos por todo aquel desierto grande y terrible que visteis, en dirección a las montañas de los amorreos, como nos lo había mandado Yahvé, nuestro Dios; y así llegamos a Cadesbarnea.
20 Y seide to you, Ye ben comen to the hil of Ammorrey, which youre Lord God schal yyue to you;
Entonces os dije: ‘Habéis llegado a los montes de los amorreos que Yahvé, nuestro Dios, nos va a dar.
21 se thou the lond which thi Lord God schal yyue to thee; `stie thou, and welde it, as oure Lord God spak to thi fadris; `nyle thou drede, nether `drede thou in herte ony thing.
Mira, que Yahvé, tu Dios, pone este país delante de ti; sube y tómalo en posesión, como te ha dicho Yahvé, el Dios de tus padres; no temas ni te amedrentes.’
22 And alle ye neiyiden to me, and ye seiden, Sende we men, that schulen biholde the lond, and telle to vs bi what weye we owen stie, and to whiche citees we owen to go.
Y os acercasteis a mí, todos vosotros, y dijisteis: ‘Enviemos delante de nosotros hombres que nos exploren el país y nos informen sobre el camino por el cual hemos de subir, y sobre las ciudades a las cuales hemos de llegar.’
23 And whanne the word pleside to me, Y sente of you twelue men, of ech lynage oon.
Me pareció bien la propuesta y por eso escogí de entre vosotros doce hombres, uno de cada tribu;
24 And whanne thei hadden go, and hadden stied in to the hilli places, thei camen `til to the valei of Clustre; and whanne thei hadden biholde the lond,
los cuales partieron y subieron a la montaña, y explorando el país llegaron hasta el torrente de Escol.
25 thei token of the fruytis therof, to schewe the plentee, and brouyten `to vs, and seiden, The lond is good which oure Lord God schal yyue to vs.
Y tomando en sus manos algunos de los frutos del país nos los trajeron, y nos informaron diciendo: ‘Bueno es el país que Yahvé, nuestro Dios, da en nuestro poder.’
26 And ye `nolden stie, but ye weren vnbileueful to the word of oure Lord God.
Pero vosotros no quisisteis subir; antes os rebelasteis contra la orden de Yahvé, vuestro Dios.
27 And ye grutchiden in youre tabernaclis, and ye seiden, The Lord hatith vs, and herfor he ledde vs out of the lond of Egipt, that he schulde bitake vs in the hond of Ammorey, and schulde do awei vs.
Murmurasteis en vuestras tiendas y dijisteis: ‘Por odiarnos Yahvé nos ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto, para entregarnos en manos de los amorreos y acabar con nosotros.
28 Whidur schulen we stie? the messangeris maden aferd oure herte, and seiden, A grettiste multitude is, and largere in stature than we; the citees ben greete, and wallid `til to the heuene; we sien there the sones of Enachym, that is, giauntis.
¿A dónde iremos? Nuestros hermanos nos han aterrado al decirnos: Es un pueblo más grande y de mayor estatura que nosotros; sus ciudades son grandes y tienen murallas que llegan hasta el cielo; hasta vimos allí a hijos de Enac.’
29 And Y seide to you, `Nyle ye drede `with ynne, nether `drede withoutforth; the Lord God hym silf,
Yo os dije: ‘No os amedrentéis ni tengáis miedo de ellos.
30 which is youre ledere, schal fiyte for you, as he dide in Egipt, while alle men sien.
Yahvé, vuestro Dios, marcha delante de vosotros; Él peleará por vosotros, a semejanza de cuanto hizo por vosotros ante vuestros mismos ojos en Egipto,
31 And ye sien in the wildirnesse, thi Lord God bar thee, as a man is wont to bere his litil sone, in al the weie bi which ye yeden til ye camen to this place.
y después en el desierto, donde habéis visto cómo Yahvé, vuestro Dios, os llevó, cual lleva un hombre a su propio hijo, por todo el camino que recorristeis hasta llegar a este lugar.’
32 And sotheli nether so ye bileueden to youre Lord God, that yede bifor you in the weie,
Pero vosotros, con todo esto, no confiasteis en Yahvé, Dios vuestro,
33 and mesuride the place in which ye ouyten to sette tentis, and schewide in nyyt the weie to you bi fier, and in dai bi a piler of cloude.
que iba delante de vosotros en el camino, buscándoos los sitios donde acampar, de noche en un fuego, para mostraros el camino por donde andar, y de día en una nube.
34 And whanne the Lord hadde herd the vois of youre wordis, he was wrooth,
Oyó Yahvé la voz de vuestras palabras, e indignado juró, diciendo:
35 and swoor, and seide, Noon of the men of this werste generacioun schal se the good lond, which Y bihiyte vndur an ooth to youre fadris,
‘Ninguno de estos hombres, de esta mala generación, verá la buena tierra que Yo juré dar a vuestros padres;
36 outakun Caleph, the sone of Jephone; for he schal se it, and Y schal yyue to hym the lond on which he trad, and to hise sones, for he suede the Lord.
excepto Caleb, hijo de Jefone; él la verá; a él y a sus hijos les daré la tierra que ha pisado, por cuanto ha seguido fielmente a Yahvé.’
37 Nether the indignacioun ayens the puple is wondirful, sithen the Lord was wrooth also to me for you, and seide,
También contra mí se indignó Yahvé, por culpa vuestra, y dijo: ‘Tampoco tú entrarás en ella.
38 Nether thou schalt entre thidur, but Josue, the sone of Nun, thi mynystre, he schal entre for thee; excyte and strengthe thou him, and he schal departe the lond bi lot to Israel.
Mas Josué, hijo de Nun, ministro tuyo, ese entrará allá. Fortalécele, porque él ha de poner a Israel en posesión (de la tierra).
39 Youre litle children, of whiche ye seiden, that thei schulden be led prisoneris, and the sones that kunnen not to dai the diuersite of good and of yuel, thei schulen entre; and Y schal yyue to hem the lond, and thei schulen welde it.
Vuestros pequeñuelos, empero, de quienes dijisteis que iban a ser una presa, y vuestros hijitos que hoy todavía no saben distinguir el bien del mal, ellos entrarán allá, porque a ellos se la daré, y ellos la recibirán por herencia.
40 Sotheli turne ye ayen, and go ye in to the wildirnesse, bi the weie of the Reed See.
Volveos, pues, vosotros, y poneos en marcha hacia el desierto, camino del Mar Rojo.’
41 And ye answeriden to me, We synneden to the Lord; we schulen stie, and we schulen fiyte, as oure Lord God comaundide. And whanne ye weren arayed with armeris, and yeden `into the hil, the Lord seide to me,
Entonces me respondisteis diciendo: ‘Hemos pecado contra Yahvé. Subiremos y pelearemos, conforme a cuanto Yahvé, nuestro Dios, nos tiene mandado.’ Y os ceñisteis cada cual su armadura, y os preparasteis inconsideradamente para subir a la montaña.
42 Seie thou to hem, `Nyle ye stye, nether fiyte ye, for Y am not with you, lest ye fallen bifor youre enemyes.
Mas Yahvé me dijo: ‘Diles: No subáis ni peleéis, pues Yo no estoy en medio de vosotros; no sea que quedéis derrotados ante vuestros enemigos.’
43 Y spak, and ye herden not; but ye `weren aduersaries to the comaundement of the Lord, and bolnden with prijde, and stieden in to the hil.
Yo os lo dije, pero no escuchasteis, sino que os rebelasteis contra la orden de Yahvé, e hinchados de soberbia subisteis a la montaña.
44 Therfor Ammorrey yede out, that dwellide in the hillis, and he cam ayens you, and pursuede you, as bees ben wont to pursue, and killide fro Seir til Horma. And whanne ye turneden ayen,
Pero los amorreos que habitan en aquellas montañas, salieron a vuestro encuentro y os persiguieron como suelen perseguir las abejas, y os derrotaron en Seír hasta Horma.
45 and wepten bifor the Lord, he herde not you, nether wolde asente to youre vois;
Entonces os volvisteis y llorasteis ante Yahvé, mas Yahvé no oyó vuestra voz ni os prestó oídos.
46 therfor ye saten in Cades Barne bi myche tyme.
Así que permanecisteis muchos días en Cades, todo el tiempo que estuvisteis allí.
