Amos 5
1 Here ye this word, for Y reise on you a weilyng.
Ecoutez cette parole, qui est la complainte que je prononce à haute voix touchant vous, maison d'Israël!
2 The hous of Israel felle doun, he schal not put to, that it rise ayen; the virgyn of Israel is cast doun in to hir lond, noon is that schal reise hir.
Elle est tombée, elle ne se relèvera plus, la vierge d'Israël; elle est abandonnée sur la terre, il n'y a personne qui la relève.
3 For the Lord God seith these thingis, The citee of which a thousynde wenten out, an hundrid schulen be left ther ynne; and of which an hundrid wenten out, ten schulen be left ther ynne, in the hous of Israel.
Car ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel, à la maison d'Israël: La ville de laquelle il en sortait mille, n'en aura de reste que cent; et celle de laquelle il en sortait cent, n'en aura de reste que dix.
4 For the Lord seith these thingis to the hous of Israel, Seke ye me, and ye schulen lyue;
Car ainsi a dit l'Eternel à la maison d'Israël: Cherchez-moi, et vous vivrez.
5 and nyle ye seke Bethel, and nyle ye entre in to Galgala, and ye schulen not passe to Bersabee; for whi Galgal schal be led caitif, and Bethel schal be vnprofitable.
Et ne cherchez point Béthel, et n'entrez point dans Guilgal, et ne passez point à Béer-Sébah; car Guilgal sera entièrement transportée en captivité, et Béthel sera détruite.
6 Seke ye the Lord, and lyue ye, lest perauenture the hous of Joseph be brent as fier; and it schal deuoure Bethel, and there schal not be, that schal quenche.
Cherchez l'Eternel, et vous vivrez, de peur qu'il ne saisisse la maison de Joseph, comme un feu qui la consumera, sans qu'il y ait personne qui l'éteigne à Béthel.
7 Whiche conuerten doom in to wermod, and forsaken riytwisnesse in the lond,
Parce qu'ils changent le jugement en absinthe, et qu'ils renversent la justice.
8 and forsaken hym that makith Arture and Orion, and hym that turneth derknessis in to the morewtid, and him that chaungith dai in to niyt; which clepith watris of the see, and heldith out hem on the face of erthe; the Lord is name of hym.
[Cherchez] celui qui a fait la Poussinière et l'Orion, qui change les plus noires ténèbres en aube du jour, et qui fait devenir le jour obscur comme la nuit; qui appelle les eaux de la mer, et les répand sur le dessus de la terre, le nom duquel est l'Eternel.
9 Which scorneth distriyng on the stronge, and bringith robbyng on the myyti.
Qui renforce le fourrageur par-dessus l'homme fort, tellement que le fourrageur entrera dans la forteresse.
10 Thei hatiden a man repreuynge in the yate, and thei wlatiden a man spekynge perfitli.
Ils haïssent à la porte ceux qui les reprennent, et ils ont en abomination celui qui parle en intégrité.
11 Therfor for that that ye robbiden a pore man, and token fro hym the chosun prey, ye schulen bilde housis with square stoon, and ye schulen not dwelle in hem; ye schulen plaunte moost louyd vyneyerdis, and ye schulen not drynke the wyn of hem.
C'est pourquoi à cause que vous opprimez le pauvre, et lui enlevez la charge de froment, vous avez bâti des maisons de pierre de taille; mais vous n'y habiterez point; vous avez planté des vignes bonnes à souhait; mais vous n'en boirez point le vin.
12 For Y knew youre grete trespassis many, and youre stronge synnes; enemyes of `the riytwis man, takynge yifte, and berynge doun pore men in the yate.
Car j'ai connu vos crimes, ils sont en grand nombre, et vos péchés se sont multipliés: vous êtes des oppresseurs du juste, et des preneurs de rançon, et vous pervertissez à la porte le droit des pauvres.
13 Therfor a prudent man schal be stille in that time, for the time is yuel.
C'est pourquoi l'homme prudent se tiendra dans le silence en ce temps-là; car le temps est mauvais.
14 Seke ye good, and not yuel, that ye lyue, and the Lord God of oostis schal be with you, as ye seiden.
Cherchez le bien, et non pas le mal, afin que vous viviez; et ainsi l'Eternel, le Dieu des armées, sera avec vous, comme vous l'avez dit.
15 Hate ye yuel, and loue ye good, and ordeyne ye in the gate doom; if perauenture the Lord God of oostis haue merci on the remenauntis of Joseph.
Haïssez le mal, et aimez le bien, et établissez le jugement à la porte; l'Eternel le Dieu des armées, aura peut-être pitié du reste de Joseph.
16 Therfor the Lord God of oostis, hauynge lordschipe, seith these thingis, Weilyng schal be in alle stretis, and in alle thingis that ben withoutforth it schal be seid, Wo! wo! and thei schulen clepe an erthe tilier to mourenyng, and hem that kunnen weile, to weilyng.
C'est pourquoi l'Eternel le Dieu des armées, le Seigneur dit ainsi; Il y aura lamentation par toutes les places, et on criera par toutes les rues Hélas! Hélas! Et on appellera au deuil le laboureur, et à la lamentation ceux qui en savent le métier.
17 And weilyng schal be in alle weies, for Y schal passe forth in the myddil of `the see, seith the Lord.
Et il y aura lamentation par toutes les vignes; car je passerai tout au travers de toi, a dit l'Eternel.
18 Wo to hem that desiren the dai of the Lord; wher to desiren ye it to you? This dai of the Lord schal be derknessis, and not liyt.
Malheur à vous qui désirez le jour de l'Eternel; De quoi vous [servira] le jour de l'Eternel? Ce sont des ténèbres, et non pas une lumière.
19 As if a man renne fro the face of a lioun, and a bere renne to hym; and he entre in to the hous, and lene with his hond on the wal, and a serpent dwellynge in schadewe bite hym.
C'est comme si un homme s'enfuyait de devant un lion, et qu'un ours le rencontrât, ou qu'il entrât en la maison, et appuyât sa main sur la paroi, et qu'un serpent le mordît.
20 Whether the dai of the Lord schal not be derknessis, and not liyt; and myist, and not schynyng ther ynne?
Le jour de l'Eternel ne sont-ce pas des ténèbres, et non une lumière? Et l'obscurité n'est-elle point en lui, et non la clarté?
21 Y hatide and castide awei youre feeste daies, and Y schal not take the odour of youre cumpenyes.
Je hais et rejette vos fêtes solennelles, et je ne flairerai point [l'odeur de vos parfums] dans vos assemblées solennelles.
22 That if ye offren to me youre brent sacrifices, and yiftis, Y schal not resseyue, and Y schal not biholde avowis of youre fatte thingis.
Que si vous m'offrez des holocaustes et des gâteaux, je ne les accepterai point; et je ne regarderai point les oblations de prospérités que vous ferez de vos bêtes grasses.
23 Do thou awei fro me the noise of thi songis, and Y schal not here the songis of thin harpe.
Ote de devant moi le bruit de tes chansons, car je n'écouterai point la mélodie de tes musettes.
24 And doom schal be schewid as watir, and riytfulnesse as a strong streem.
Mais le jugement roulera comme de l'eau, et la justice comme un torrent impétueux.
25 Whether ye, the hous of Israel, offriden to me sacrifices for enemyes to be ouercomun, and sacrifice in desert fourti yeeris?
Est-ce à moi, maison d'Israël, que vous avez offert des sacrifices et des gâteaux dans le désert pendant quarante ans?
26 And ye han bore tabernaclis to Moloch, youre god, and ymage of youre idols, the sterre of youre god, which ye maden to you.
Au contraire vous avez porté le tabernacle de votre Moloc, [et] Kijun vos images, et l'étoile de vos dieux, que vous vous êtes faits.
27 And Y schal make you for to passe ouer Damask, seide the Lord; God of oostis is the name of him.
C'est pourquoi je vous transporterai au-delà de Damas, a dit l'Eternel, duquel le nom est le Dieu des armées.
