Acts 19
1 And it bifelle, whanne Apollo was at Corinthi, that Poul whanne he hadde go the hiyer coostis, he cam to Efesie, and foond summe of disciplis.
੧ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਪੁੱਲੋਸ ਕੁਰਿੰਥੁਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਉੱਪਰਲੇ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘ ਕੇ ਅਫ਼ਸੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ।
2 And he seide to hem, Whethir ye that bileuen han resseyued the Hooli Goost? And thei seiden to hym, But nether `han we herd, if the Hooli Goost is.
੨ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ? ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਹੈ।
3 And he seide, Therfor in what thing ben ye baptisid? And thei seiden, In the baptym of Joon.
੩ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਫੇਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਲਿਆ? ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਅਸੀਂ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਲਿਆ।
4 And Poul seide, Joon baptiside the puple in baptym of penaunce, and tauyte, that thei schulden bileue in hym that was to comynge `after hym, that is, in Jhesu.
੪ਤਦ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੋਬਾ ਦਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਯਿਸੂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰੋ।
5 Whanne thei herden these thingis, thei weren baptisid in the name of the Lord Jhesu.
੫ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਲਿਆ।
6 And whanne Poul hadde leid on hem his hoondis, the Hooli Goost cam in hem, and thei spaken with langagis, and profecieden.
੬ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖੇ ਤਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਉੱਤਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ-ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ।
7 And alle weren almest twelue men.
੭ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਾਰਾਂ ਕੁ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਨ।
8 And he yede in to the synagoge, and spak with trist thre monethis, disputinge and tretinge of the kingdom of God.
੮ਫਿਰ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ, ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੱਕ ਨਿਡਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
9 But whanne summe weren hardid, and bileueden not, and cursiden the weie of the Lord bifor the multitude, he yede awei fro hem, and departide the disciplis, and disputide in the scole of a myyti man eche dai.
੯ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਠੋਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਾ ਮੰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਉਸ ਪੰਥ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਲੱਗ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰੰਨੁਸ ਦੀ ਪਾਠਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਜ਼ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
10 This was doon bi twei yeeris, so that alle that dwelliden in Asie herden the word of the Lord, Jewis and hethene men.
੧੦ਇਹ ਦੋ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਐਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਜੋ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ ਕੀ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਕੀ ਯੂਨਾਨੀ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਿਆ।
11 And God dide vertues not smale bi the hoond of Poul,
੧੧ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਅਚਰਜ਼ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਖਾਲਦਾ ਸੀ।
12 so that on sijk men the sudaries weren borun fro his bodye, and sijknessis departiden fro hem, and wickid spiritis wenten out.
੧੨ਐਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਜੋ ਰੁਮਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਪਟਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਆ ਕੇ ਰੋਗੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਾਵਾਂ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
13 But also summe of the Jewis exorsisists yeden aboute, and assaieden to clepe the name of the Lord Jhesu Crist on hem that hadden yuele spiritis, and seiden, Y coniure you bi Jhesu, whom Poul prechith.
੧੩ਤਦ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਈ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਇੱਧਰ-ਉੱਧਰ ਫਿਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਝਾੜ ਫੂਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਇਹ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਾਵਾਂ ਚਿੰਬੜੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
14 And ther weren seuene sones of a Jewe, Steuen, a prince of preestis, that diden this thing.
੧੪ਅਤੇ ਸਕੇਵਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਸੱਤ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇਹੋ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
15 But the yuel spirit answeride, and seide to hem, Y knowe Jhesu, and Y knowe Poul; but who ben ye?
੧੫ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਚਾਣਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੌਣ ਹੋ?
16 And the man in which was the worste deuel, lippide on hem, and hadde victorie of bothe, and was stronge ayens hem, that thei nakid and woundid fledden awei fro that hous.
੧੬ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਾ ਚਿੰਬੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਐਸੀ ਸਖਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੰਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਨਿੱਕਲੇ।
17 And this thing was maad knowun to alle the Jewis and to hethene men, that dwelliden at Effesie; and drede felle doun on hem alle, and thei magnyfieden the name of the Lord Jhesu.
੧੭ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਭ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਅਫ਼ਸੁਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਜਾਗਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਡਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਈ।
18 And many men bileueden, and camen, knowlechinge and tellynge her dedis.
੧੮ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਬੁਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
19 And manye of them that sueden curiouse thingis, brouyten togidere bookis, and brenneden hem bifor alle men; and whanne the prices of tho weren acountid, thei founden monei of fifti thousynd pens;
੧੯ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਵੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਾਦੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਫੂਕ ਸੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਦਾ ਜੋੜ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਹ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਰੁਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ।
20 so strongli the word of God wexide, and was confermyd.
੨੦ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਵਧਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਬਲ ਹੋਇਆ।
21 And whanne these thingis weren fillid, Poul purposide in spirit, aftir that Macedony was passid and Acaie, to go to Jerusalem, and seide, For aftir that Y schal be there, it bihoueth me `to se also Rome.
੨੧ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਜੋ ਮਕਦੂਨਿਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਖਾਯਾ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘ ਕੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੋ ਆਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਰੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਾਂ।
22 And he sente in to Macedonye twey men, that mynystriden to hym, Tymothe, and Eraste, and he dwellide for a tyme in Asie.
੨੨ਸੋ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੋ ਜਣੇ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਤਿਮੋਥਿਉਸ ਅਤੇ ਇਰਸਤੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਕਦੂਨਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾਂ ਰਿਹਾ।
23 And a greet troubling was maad in that dai, of the weie of the Lord.
੨੩ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਸ ਪੰਥ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਫਸਾਦ ਹੋਇਆ।
24 For a man, Demetrie bi name, a worcher in siluer, makide siluer housis to Diane, and yaf to crafti men myche wynnyng;
੨੪ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਦੇਮੇਤ੍ਰਿਯੁਸ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਨਿਆਰ ਅਰਤਿਮਿਸ ਦੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਬਣਵਾ ਕੇ, ਕਾਰੀਗਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੰਮ ਦੁਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
25 which he clepide togidere `hem that weren suche maner werkmen, and seide, Men, ye witen that of this craft wynnyng is to vs;
੨੫ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਰੀਗਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਤੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਧਨ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
26 and ye seen and heren, that this Poul counseilith and turneth awei myche puple, not oonli of Effesie, but almest of al Asie, and seith, that thei ben not goddis, that ben maad with hoondis.
੨੬ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਤੇ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਅਫ਼ਸੁਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਲੱਗਭਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾ ਕੇ ਬਹਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ।
27 And not oonli this part schal be in perel to vs, to come in to repreef, but also the temple of the greet Dian schal be acountid in to nouyt; yhe, and the maieste of hir schal bigynne to be destried, whom al Asie and the world worschipith.
੨੭ਸੋ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਹੋ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜੋ ਸਾਡਾ ਕੰਮ ਮੰਦਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਹਾਂ ਦੇਵੀ ਅਰਤਿਮਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਤਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਸਗੋਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪੂਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
28 Whanne these thingis weren herd, thei weren fillid with ire, and crieden, and seiden, Greet is the Dian of Effesians.
੨੮ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ-ਉੱਚੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਕਿ ਅਫ਼ਸੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਰਤਿਮਿਸ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ।
29 And the citee was fillid with confusioun, and thei maden an asaut with oon wille in to the teaatre, and tooken Gayus and Aristark, men of Macedonye, felawis of Poul.
੨੯ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੱਲੜ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਮਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗਾਯੁਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਿਸਤਰਖੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਕਦੂਨਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਸਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਖਿੱਚ ਕੇ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਗਏ।
30 And whanne Poul would haue entrid in to the peple, the disciplis suffriden not.
੩੦ਜਦੋਂ ਪੌਲੁਸ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਜਾਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
31 And also summe of the princis of Asie, that weren hise freendis, senten to him. and preieden, that he schulde not yyue hym silf in to the teatre.
੩੧ਅਤੇ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਵੀ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਨ, ਮਿੰਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਕਿ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਵੜਨਾ!
32 And othere men crieden othir thing; for the chirche was confusid, and many wisten not for what cause thei weren come togidere.
੩੨ਉਪਰੰਤ ਰੌਲ਼ਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਕੁਝ ਆਖਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਕੁਝ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਫੜਾ ਦਫੜੀ ਮੱਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਂ।
33 But of the puple thei drowen awei oon Alisaundre, while Jewis puttiden hym forth. And Alisaundre axide with his hoond silence, and wolde yelde a resoun to the puple.
੩੩ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਕੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਅਗਾਹਾਂ ਧੱਕਦੇ ਸਨ ਭੀੜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਕੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ।
34 And as thei knewen that he was a Jew, o vois of alle men was maad, criynge as bi tweyn ouris, Greet Dian of Effesians.
੩੪ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਕੁ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਉੱਚੀ-ਉੱਚੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਕਿ ਅਫ਼ਸੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਰਤਿਮਿਸ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ।
35 And whanne the scribe hadde ceessid the puple, he seide, Men of Effesie, what man is he, that knowith not, that the citee of Effesians is the worschipere of greet Dian, and of the child of Jubiter?
੩੫ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਭੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਅਫ਼ਸੀ ਲੋਕੋ, ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਅਫ਼ਸੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਮਹਾਂ ਅਰਤਿਮਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗਿਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੂਰਤ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੈ।
36 Therfor whanne it may not be ayenseid to these thingis, it behoueth you to be ceessid, and to do no thing folili;
੩੬ਸੋ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੋਚੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ।
37 for ye han brouyt these men, nethir sacrilegeris, nethir blasfemynge youre goddesse.
੩੭ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਥੇ ਲਿਆਏ ਹੋ, ਜੋ ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਚੋਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
38 That if Demetrie, and the werk men that ben with hym, han cause ayens ony man, there ben courtis, and domes, and iugis; accusen thei eche other.
੩੮ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਜੇ ਦੇਮੇਤ੍ਰਿਯੁਸ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰੀਗਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਚਹਿਰੀਆਂ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਵੀ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਤੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਉਣ।
39 If ye seken ouyt of ony othir thing, it may be assoylid in the lawful chirche.
੩੯ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਗੱਲ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਕਨੂੰਨੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਬੇੜਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
40 For whi we ben in perel to be repreuyd of this daies dissencioun, sithen no man is gilti, of whom we moun yelde resoun of this rennyng togidre.
੪੦ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਫਸਾਦ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਨਾ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਭੀੜ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਉੱਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਾਂਗੇ।
41 And whanne he hadde seid this thing, he lete the puple go.
੪੧ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
