2 Samuel 1
1 Forsothe it was doon, after that Saul was deed, that Dauid turnede ayen fro the sleyng of Amalech, and dwellide twei daies in Sichelech.
Nach Sauls Tode nun, als David von dem Sieg über die Amalekiter zurückgekehrt war und David zwei Tage in Ziklag zugebracht hatte, -
2 Forsothe in the thridde dai a man apperide, comynge fro the castels of Saul with the cloth to-rent, and his heed spreynt with dust; and as he cam to Dauid, he felde on his face, and worschipide.
da am dritten Tage traf plötzlich ein Mann aus dem Lager von Saul her ein, mit zerrissenen Kleidern und mit Erde auf dem Haupte. Als er bei David angelangt war, warf er sich ehrerbietig zur Erde nieder.
3 And Dauid seide to hym, Fro whennus comest thou? Which seide to Dauid, Y fledde fro the castels of Israel.
David fragte ihn: Woher kommst du? Er antwortete ihm: Aus dem Lager Israels bin ich entronnen.
4 And Dauid seide to hym, What is the word which is doon; schewe thou to me. And he seide, The puple fledde fro the batel, and many of the puple felden, and ben deed; but also Saul, and Jonathas, his sonne, perischyden.
David fragte ihn: Wie ist es gegangen? Sage es mir. Er erwiderte: Die Krieger sind aus der Schlacht geflohen, und viele von den Kriegern sind gefallen und umgekomen; auch Saul und sein Sohn Jonathan sind tot.
5 And Dauid seide to the yong man, that telde to hym, Wherof woost thou, that Saul is deed, and Jonathas, his sonne?
David fragte den jungen Mann, der ihm die Botschaft brachte: Wie hast du erfahren, daß Saul und sein Sohn Jonathan tot sind?
6 And the yong man seide, that telde to hym, Bi hap Y cam in to the hil of Gelboe, and Saul lenyde on his spere; forsothe charis and knyytis neiyiden to hym;
Der Junge Mann, der ihm die Botschaft brachte, erwiderte: Ganz zufällig kam ich auf das Gebirge Gilboa; da fand ich Saul auf seinen Speer gestützt, während sich die Wagen und Reiter an seine Fersen geheftet hatten.
7 and he turnede bihynde his bak, `and siy me, and clepide. To whom whanne Y hadde answeride, Y am present; he seide to me, Who art thou?
Da wandte er sich rückwärts, und als er mich erblickte, rief er mich an. Ich antwortete: Ich höre!
8 And Y seide to hym, Y am a man of Amalech.
Da fragte er mich: Wer bist du? Ich erwiderte ihm: Ich bin ein Amalekiter.
9 And he spak to me, Stonde thou on me, and sle me; for angwischis holden me, and yit al my lijf is in me.
Da bat er mich: Tritt doch her zu mir und gieb mir den Todesstoß, denn mich hat der Krampf erfaßt, denn noch ist das Leben ganz in mir!
10 And Y stood on hym, and Y killide hym; for Y wiste that he myyte not lyue aftir the fallyng; and Y took the diademe, that was in his heed, and the bye fro his arm, and Y brouyte hidur to thee, my lord.
Da trat ich zu ihm und gab ihm den Todesstoß, denn ich wußte, daß er seinen Fall nicht überleben würde. Dann nahm ich das Diadem auf seinem Haupt und die Spange an seinem Arm ab und überbringe sie hier meinem Herrn!
11 Forsothe Dauid took and to-rente hise clothis, and the men that weren with hym;
Da faßte David seine Kleider und zerriß sie, desgleichen alle Männer seiner Umgebung,
12 and thei weiliden, and wepten, and fastiden `til to euentid, on Saul, and Jonathas, his sone, and on the puple of the Lord, and on the hows of Israel, for thei hadden feld bi swerd.
und sie trauerten mit Weinen und Fasten bis zum Abend um Saul und seinen Sohn Jonathan und um das Volk Jahwes und das Haus Israel, weil sie durchs Schwert gefallen waren.
13 And Dauid seide to the yong man, that telde to him, Of whennus art thou? And he answeride, Y am the sone of a man comelyng, of a man of Amalech.
Dann fragte David den jungen Mann, der ihm die Botschaft brachte: Woher bist du? Er antwortete: Ich bin der Sohn eines amalekitischen Schutzbürgers.
14 And Dauid seide to him, Whi dreddist thou not to sende thine hond, that thou schuldist sle the crist of the Lord?
David aber sprach zu ihm: Wie? du hast dich nicht gescheut, Hand anzulegen, um den Gesalbten Jahwes ums Leben zu bringen?
15 And Dauid clepide oon of hise children, and seide, Go thou, and falle on hym. Which smoot that yong man, and he was deed.
Hierauf rief David einen der Krieger und befahl: Her! stoße ihn nieder! Der hieb ihn nieder, daß er starb.
16 And Dauid seide to hym, Thi blood be on thin heed; for thi mouth spak ayens thee, and seide, Y killide the crist of the Lord.
David aber rief ihm zu: Dein Blut über dein Haupt! Dein eigener Mund hat das Urteil über dich gesprochen mit dem Worte: Ich habe dem Gesalbten Jahwes den Todesstoß gegeben!
17 Forsooth Dauid biweilide sych a weilyng on Saul, and on Jonathas, his sone;
David dichtete auf Saul und seinen Sohn Jonathan folgendes Klagelied
18 and comaundide, that thei schulden teche the sones of Juda weilyng, as it is writun in the Book of Just Men. And Dauid seyde, Israel, biholde thou, for these men that ben deed, woundid on thin hiye placis;
und gebot, es die Judäer zu lehren. Es ist bekanntlich aufgezeichnet im “Buche der Rechtschaffenen”:
19 the noble men of Israel ben slayn on thin hillis.
Die Zier liegt, o Israel, erschlagen auf deinen Höhen - wie sind die Helden gefallen!
20 Hou felden stronge men? nyle ye telle in Geth, nether telle ye in the weilottis of Ascolon; lest perauenture the douytris of Filisteis be glad, lest the douytris of vncircumcidid men `be glad.
Thut es nicht kund zu Gath, meldet es nicht in den Gassen von Askalon, daß sich der Philister Töchter nicht freuen, nicht jubeln die Töchter der Unbeschnittenen!
21 Hillis of Gelboe, neither dew nethir reyn come on you, nether the feeldis of firste fruytis be; for the scheeld of stronge men was cast awey there, the scheeld of Saul, as `if he were not anoyntid with oile.
Ihr Berge von Gilboa, nicht Tau, nicht Regen falle auf euch, ihr Truggefilde! Denn da ward der Helden Schild weggeworfen, der Schild Sauls, ungesalbt mit Öl.
22 Of the blood of slayn men, of the fatnesse of strong men, the arewe of Jonathas yede neuer abak, and the swerd of Saul turnede not ayen void.
Vom Blute der Erschlagenen, vom Fette der Helden wich Jonathans Bogen nicht zurück, kehrte das Schwert Sauls nicht leer heim.
23 Saul and Jonathas amyable, and fair in her lijf, weren not departid also in deeth; thei weren swiftere than eglis, strongere than liouns.
Saul und Jonathan, die geliebten und gütigen, im Leben wie im Tode blieben sie vereint; sie, die schneller waren als Adler, stärker als Löwen.
24 Douytris of Israel, wepe ye on Saul, that clothide you with fyn reed colourid in delicis, that yaf goldun ournementis to youre atyre.
Ihr Töchter Israels, weinet über Saul, der euch kleidete in Purpur und Wonnen, der Goldschmuck heftete auf euer Gewand!
25 Hou `felden doun stronge men in batel?
Wie sind die Helden gefallen inmitten des Kampfes - Jonathan auf deinen Höhen erschlagen!
26 Jonathas was slayn in the hiye places. Y make sorewe on thee, my brother Jonathas, ful fair, `and amyable more than the loue of wymmen; as a modir loueth oon aloone sone, so Y louyde thee.
Es ist mir leid um dich, mein Bruder Jonathan: wie warst du mir so hold! Deine Liebe war mir wundersamer als Frauenliebe!
27 Hou therfor `felden doun stronge men, and armeris of batel perischide?
Wie sind die Helden gefallen, zu nichte die Rüstzeuge des Streits!
